PRAY FOR CHURCHILL ALEMAO.
After my last article “Are Goan Voters Ghantta Boil?”, I received lot of emails in support of it; most of the emails are from Navelim village in particular and Navelim constituency in general. Major portion of those who sent me their support are females. All of them have shown their total disgust for Churchill Alemao for leaving SGF and cunningly joining unpredictable Congress of Italian Sonia Gandhi.
Like any other unprincipled Goan politician, Churchill Alemao is also of same category and because of this he is flying like a butterfly from one plant to another only to chew honey for his personal greed. As a man he is nice and affable person. He knows the hardships in life as he himself undergone the pangs in life. My contact with him became strong when we brought him first time to Kuwait as a chief guest in late eighties for our Tiatro staged by the late Rex de Bardez under the banner of Goa Cultural Association. I was given the task of escorting him everywhere for the functions he attended as the Chief Guest and also I was entrusted with the task of giving him press coverage of his tour. Somehow or the other because of his the then sincerity, straight forwardness, principled stand and moreover because of his strong support for the cause of Konkani and thru Konkani for the cause of Goa, I supported him very much and that too blindly. I was very much instrumental among others to make his visit to Kuwait a very comfortable and memorable. And moreover, thru this visit I was very instrumental from Kuwait to make him known better in the Goan community. In some segments among Goans in Kuwait including the Church under Bishop Francis Mechallef, Churchill was considered as terrorist but to clear this misconception wrongly ingrained into the minds of idiots including the idiotic minded Bishop Mechallef, I had to fight with everyone with my verbal arguments and written statements in the press.
Churchill Alemao according to information was just an ordinary “Tarvotti”. He no doubt has gigantic physique but lacked gigantic intellectual capacity. Yet he did what others could not do in such circumstances and succeeded in getting into the public life of Goa with tremendous speed and with great success. Konkani language and fight for its cause was the main reason to get him into the foothold of public life in Goa. He should be grateful to Konkani and all the supporters of Konkani, including me, for giving him a chance to be what he is now. I am a staunch supporter of Konkani and a strong lover of Goa. Since Churchill also had the same likings, we matched very well in our approach for the twin causes of Goa, that is, recognition of Konkani and Statehood for Goa. Churchill fought very well for the cause of Konkani even to the extent of putting his life into peril. So much so, Prataphsingh Raoji Rane and his Government during the language agitation tried to liquidate him from this planet. For this reason Churchill Alemao had to go underground for so many days. All these hardships he had to undergo only because of Konkani and Goa. If Konkani was recognized yesterday as an official language paving the way of conferring Statehood on Goa, it was partly because of the strong campaign and movement made by Churchill Alemao and all his family members especially his brothers who were also persecuted by the Rane Government at that time.
The recognition for Konkani was not the sole accomplishment only of Konkani Porjecho Avaz headed by Nagrivadi Pundalik Naik and among others also supported by his equally anti-Romi colleagues. The recognition of Konkani was also due to the tremendous efforts put in by Konkani supporters not only from Goa but also from outside Goa, especially from Kuwait. In this category, I can rightly say that my efforts were not less. No expatriate Goan has done what I have done for the cause of Konkani by being in Kuwait. Nagrivadis are reaping the fruits of our hard labour and denying us our rights to have recognition for Romi script Konkani. Churchill Alemao then was very vocal in support of Romi Konkani but gradually he slowed down in his approach to this issue. Occasionally like a lion he roars in support of Romi Konkani but it is only a political gimmick because he knows his voters are Romi supporters. Churchill is now become a pure corrupt Indian politician. Earlier he was uncorrupt and virgin for this reason upright Goans like me were behind him. But now, upright Goans like me are rightly rejecting him and day by day his support will diminish because he is betraying the trust in his supporters. Navelim constituency people are getting negative feelings against him for betraying them. According to reliable information his own village Varca people are having negative opinion on him. For this reason, it looks that he avoided Benaulim constituency in which Varca falls and jumped into Navelim constituency. Navelim constituency voters must accept the responsibility of the ill doings of Churchill Alemao in political arena.
With all my negative feelings on Churchill Alemao I still feel there is a need of him in Goan public life. He, by nature, is a great lover of Goa and Konkani but greed for power and money made him bend his natural principles. We in Goa need such a personality and mighty man to support many of our causes. Besides, we need his natural humility which is disappearing from him leading him to distance himself from genuine Goans. He is gaining a habit of behaving like a Maharaja thereby alienating himself from the masses Goan politicians are like hardcore criminals because they have criminalized Goan politics. Churchill Alemao is one of them. We have to get him out of this rot by all means because he served Goa and Konkani very well once. We cannot forget the sacrifices he made for the cause of Goa and Konkani. . In appreciation of what good he did for Goa we have to woo him towards goodness. This we can do as a last resort only thru PRAYERS. All other means to bring him on right path have failed. He does not care for anything. If a person becomes hard and stubborn then nature takes care of him in different ways. We don’t want nature to reprimand him and to punish him for breaking the laws of nature thru his selfishness.
In view of this, we, the Goa lover Goans spread all around the globe must start praying for him to change his unprincipled and selfish stand. The parties that he changes every now and then is creating a bad fellow in him and thereby making fools of his supporters. He is a Christian and that too a Catholic. He goes to Vailankani and believes in the power of Mother Mary of Vailankani though he disgraces his Christianity and faith in Mother Mary by swearing on the Coconut and in the Temple purely in a Hindu ritual which goes against Christianity. This he did at the time of formation of PDF Government initiated by him by aligning with anti-Goan and anti-Konkani MGP. It is not only an ordinary sin but a big sacrilege for a Catholic to adore and embrace Hindu rituals. The Church in Goa and especially Varca Church must hold special prayers to enlighten him in the right direction because we need him to protect our interest. We need a leader to protect our interests otherwise Parrikar and his BJP will swallow us. If thru our prayers Churchill Alemao can become a good leader of Goa to protect our interest and not his selfish interest then we must not waste more time. In Kuwait many people agreed to pray for his change and I think it will come otherwise by hurting people and his supporters he will face his doom. History tells us that those who defy people’s goodwill are bound to fail. History tells us that those who hurt people’s sentiments are bound to disappear like an ether. We don’t want this to happen to our Churchill Alemao. For this reason, I plead with Goa lover Goans to pray for him to change his political lifestyle. Dayananda Bandodkar with his political, financial and muscle power of his MGP supporters was defying everyone, he was hurting every genuine Goan and every true lover of Goa and Konkani. Finally, what has happened to him on one fine evening while playing Ping-Pong at Kampal? Was he assassinated by anyone? No! He was assassinated by the power of the nature. The law of nature rules supreme. We must know this very well and pay obeisance to it.
Prayer is a power. Fervent prayer can even bring heaven to the earth. The power of prayer is more powerful than the power of mighty Atom and Hydrogen Bombs. Prayer can create miracles as we never saw before. In the Biblical book of Joshua, young Prophet Joshua wanted to win his battle over his enemies. To win this battle he needed Sun Light which was falling. If Sun sets then darkness would envelope the earth in which case there was the possibility for Joshua to lose his battle. Hence, in order to delay the Sun from setting and thereby keeping the Sun light intact, Joshua knelt down and fervently pleaded with God in a most powerful prayer to stop the Sun from moving further. He prayed to keep the Sun erect without moving. And miraculously thru the mighty power of Joshua’s prayer, Sun in fact remained erect for a whole day without moving an inch further till Joshua won his battle against his enemies. This truth was finally acknowledged as a genuine happening when the Apollo Mission went deep into this research from the Moon and thru its research the Apollo Astronaut and Nasa confirmed in its report that in reality and in fact Sun Did Not Fall once in the history.
This is the power of the prayer. So, let us now pray for the change in our Churchill Bab which will surely help not only for Goa and Goans but also for him and all his family members.
