The Roman Catholic Clergy in Bombay only believes in numbers and headcounts at the Sunday Mass and the corresponding collections in the donation boxes. How the church funds are utilized the parish priests don’t disclose in the parish bulletins. How much vacant properties and the location of those properties with cts & survey nos the church is in possession of the same is not disclosed in the parish bulletins. What the parish priests do with the money received from the sale of vacant church properties the same is not disclosed in parish bulletins. Why only 5% students in parish/catholic schools in bombay are from the catholic community the same is not disclosed in the parish bulletins. Why the Parish priests prevent children of poor and less influential catholics from getting admissions in catholic schools the same is not disclosed in the parish bulletins. Why the Bishops are opposing the National Commission for Minority Educational Institution proposal that those Christian educational institutions that fails to maintain minimum 30 percent Christian students will loose the minority status the same is not disclosed in the parish bulletins.
The Catholic Clergy live within the close walls of parish buildings protected by security guards and they have no idea how an ordinary Christian has to live with his Hindu neighbours & co-workers in offices & factories. In Bombay the Catholic Church, the graveyard, the vacant church properties and the catholic school belongs to the local catholic parishioners and not the parish priests who are deputed for a few years but the Parish Priests are behaving as though the Church, the graveyard, the vacant church properties and the catholic school is their father’s property. There are a few Lay catholic activists in Bombay who are sacrificing their blood, sweat, time in exposing the corrupt activities of the catholic clergy but there are also a few traitors among the lay catholic who are supporting the corrupt activities of the catholic clergy.
The Protestant Churches in Bombay are also involved in corrupt activities especially in the illegal sale of church property by the protestant pastors and there are a few lay protestant activists who are challenging the corrupt activities of the protestant pastors. Jesus Christ was neither a Catholic, neither a Protestant, neither a Jew. JESUS CHRIST WAS A GOD WHO VISITED US IN HUMAN FORM. Jesus Christ’s mission on earth was not just to help others or do charity or teach morality or teach equal rights but was also a mission of a continuous revolt against the corrupt political & religious leaders of his time……Jesus Christ’s Church has now been infiltrated by rogue priests, cardinals, bishops, pastors who are misusing church funds, misusing church properties, refusing admission to poor christians in parish schools, charging money from poor widows to say the funeral mass, behaving like dictators, etc. …. These rogue elements who have infiltrated the Christian religious orders have destroyed centuries of sweat, tears, sacrifice and blood by hundreds of thousands of Christian priests and nuns. The silent inaction by those in charge left ALL priests suspect. Which priest could now be trusted? Fortunately for the Church, the vast majority of uninvolved priests bore the cross and pain with patience and humility. They knew that "This too shall come to pass".
Catholic associations and sabhas must become the public face and spokesperson of the catholic laity in all socio economic and political affairs and not the bishops. The catholic associations and sabhas must become more active and representative of the catholic people. Bishops and clergy must "let go" of domination in temporal affairs. It is not enough to pay lip service to the role of the laity. The hierarchy must humble itself to actively encourage the leadership of the laity. The Catholic Church has to create a culture of partnership by giving the lay catholics prominence in the official decision-making bodies and assisting them in their political involvement. Rather than merely expecting catholic students to complete the minimum basic exams (S.S.C, H.S.C etc.), we must train them for professions that will make a mark in civil society; for instance, IAS, IPS, UPSC, Law, Medicine, Engineering, Politics. In addition, they should be made aware of larger issues of national and global interest through introducing them to other cultures, other faiths, social and political awareness. In return for Unlimited FSIs and exploitation of the last few bits of open spaces, mangroves, saltpan lands, forests, gardens, playgrounds the Builders lobby in Bombay are paying tons of cash to everyone in power & position irrespective of whether they are Politicians or Sarkari Babus.
After paying everyone tons of cash how do the builders make reasonable profits ? Obviously by using less cement, less iron/steel, less water proofing material, low quality paints, low quality labour, etc. When anyone purchases a flat in the new construction after two or three years the flat owner faces monsoonal problems, leakages problems, cracks in walls, paints peeling off and a host of other problems. With Mindless constructions all over bombay there are going to be three serious problems. One during the summer there will be a acute water shortage, two during the monsoons there will be flooding all over bombay & three a burden on the already overburdened civic infrastructure. There are a few RTI and other activists in Bombay who are sacrificing their blood, sweat, time in preventing the builders lobby, Slumlords, Politicians from eating up the last few bits of saltpan lands, openspaces, mangroves, gardens, playgrounds, forests. May God give these activists strength & courage.
Maharashtrians account for 35% of Bombay’s Population but they have cornered 99% of all jobs in Bombay Muncipal Corporation, Collectors office, Bombay Police, BEST, Ration Office, Talatis office, Tehsildars office, City Survey Office, etc and 90 to 95% of all jobs in State Govt. undertakings in Bombay and 60 to 75% of all jobs in Central Govt. undertakings in bombay including Banks, AirIndia, etc. even in the private sector majority of the staff in the clerical and factory are Maharashtrians. But the Marathi Manoos is not satisfied with 99% or 95% or 75% they want 100% of all jobs. They have also changed the medium of work in BMC, Police, Collector, Talatis, Tehsildars & Other departments from English to Marathi so that non-maharashtrians find it difficult to get jobs. The Maharashtrians poured into the Bombay region beginning with the setting up of textile mills by the Parsi/Gujarati businessmen. Since the Maharashtrians don’t have any entreprenueral skills they will always remain job seekers.
Raj Thackeray instead of spewing venom on the ‘Bhaiyyas’ & ‘Biharis’ he should instead spew venom on his own community members working in BMC, Collectors office, city survey office, ration office, Police all of whom who took bribes from mafia backed builders and slumlords and allowed slums & illegal constructions to flourish all over Bombay city & suburbs. The ‘Bhaiyyas’ & ‘Biharis’ instead of spewing venom on Raj Thackeray they should instead spew venom on their own Politicians in Uttar Pradesh & Bihar for not doing anything to improve infrastructure, industries, job opportunities in UP & Bihar and for not enforcing the two child policy in UP & Bihar.
East Indians ( comprising of kunbi, bhandari, agri, koli castes) are the only large Christian community in India who are indigenous to a metropolis. Being sons of the soil they find themselves strangers in their own land. All their ancestral lands in Bombay have been eaten up by the Maharashtra state, BMC, Collectors, Talatis, Tehsildars, Politicians, Mafia, Builders & Slumlords. All their houses in their Gaothans (villages) are ruined. For want of money their children cannot get higher education, and for want of higher education, they cannot get better jobs. The Roman Catholic Clergy and the Roman Catholic Missionaries did nothing to help the EastIndians. No wonder many of the eastindians have left the catholic church.

The idiotic sermons of the catholic clergy and protestant pastors during the Sunday Mass is not going to solve the economic, unemployment, housing, civic problems of Christians ( catholics/protestants ) in Bombay. What we need in Bombay is some daring and shameless Christians with good Oratory & Leadership skills who can achieve for us what our Suit boot Christians could not. The Kolis living in the Koliwadas of the Seven Islands are preoccupied with catching fish, selling fish and drinking alcohol. None of these kolis had ever claimed that the seven islands were known by the name Mumbai and None of these Kolis had ever written any letters to the Prime Ministers, Presidents, Chief Ministers, Governors, Policial Parties, MPs, MLAs, Corporators & News Media that the name of Bombay should be changed to Mumbai….
The Kolis are also not bothered whether any Bollywood Actor or film-maker uses the name Bombay. The present day Bombay includes the large salsette island and the seven small islands. The seven islands were reclaimed into one island by the British and merged with the large salsette island. Originally the Portuguese in the 15th century baptized the seven islands with the name Bom Bahia ( meaning good bay or good harbour ). After the British gained possession of the seven islands in the 17th century, the Portuguese name was officially anglicized as Bombay. Bombay’s name has been changed to Mumbai by those who were not its original people and just because the name of bombay has been changed to mumbai that does not mean it will remain that way forever. There are many Bombay warriors out there who will not rest till the name Mumbai is changed back to Bombay.
Money isn’t the root of evil, lack of it is the mother of all evil. Nothing wrong if any Christian has become wealthy and prosperous through hard work and honesty. Therefore, wealth creation is a part of the Christian faith, and to ignore this could make a Christian worse than an infidel in God’s eyes. Most Christians have probably never in their life been taught this at church, but it is the truth and it is clearly taught in the Scriptures. Have you ever read in the Bible that if you skip next week’s church service or revival meeting you have denied the faith and are worse than an infidel? No, the Bible nowhere says such a thing. However it does say that if you do not take care of your household financially you HAVE denied the Christian faith, and you are worse than an infidel!

SUPPORT GRA FOR 15TH MARCH MEETING.
Support GRA.
The birth of GRA, I am sure must have been a very meticulous process, it is not easy to unite a handful of people, leave alone more than thirty five independent NOG’s, different village groups and other entities. The efforts of the leaders of GRA and their foot soldiers who made this union possible are very well appreciated and revered by all. All these groups have one thing in common, the dream, that Goa becomes a paradise that it once was, where values, integrity and our unique Goans Identity will be preserved and enhanced, our dreams to bring back the beautiful Goa that we all once knew and thought was lost forever could infact be a reality.
For a good many years different groups were fighting individualistic battles and success was a rarity if not a total nonentity, I am sure along with me a lot of other Goans were waiting and praying for all the different groups to unite and launch the mother of all battles against the in-conscientious and utterly corrupt Congress and the communal BJP.
Today the whole of Goa has sighed a sigh of relief that Goa is not the lost cause after all. It is the duty of every Goa loving Goan to come forward and join and support the endeavors taken up by the GRA, GRA on it’s own will be boat without a propeller, for the GRA to be what we want it to be, it will need our full support and that too in large numbers. At this point in time we cannot afford to be laidback, today Goa is emotionally charged, we have seen around the world what emotions can do in the past few weeks where the people, the common man was taken for granted.
Goa has been plagued by incessant corruption and overbearing and incompetent politicians, who have neither the will nor the inclination to work for the welfare of Goa and Goans. When power and money goes to the head of political leaders, they loose their sanity and humane qualities and become ravishing animals; this is exactly what has happened to our Goan politicians. As term after term we elect the very same imbeciles that stab us in the back, the very same imbeciles who have destroyed Goa and our unique Goan Identity to such an extent that today we have almost become a minority in our own land. It is the laxity of every Goan that has brought Goa to this appalling state and now this is our chance to rectify our faults and mistakes, to right the wrong that we have done, this could well be the last chance to free ourselves of the guilt that we have been knowing or unknowingly carrying, for a few years now or may be even a few decades and restore our dignity and self respect.
I pray to every Goan of whatever faith, race, colour or denomination that we are Goans first and the welfare of Goa should be our prime concern and objective. Today what’s ailing Goa is the rampant corruption that our corrupt politicians embrace and glorify, that is an aberration that has pushed Goa to the height of acrimony, to being one of the most corrupt states of India. A taxonomy that we Goans can do and live without.
Today Mother Goa is asking each one of us, what wrong have I done to deserve this shame and depravity ? Why have you put this crown of ignominy on my head ? What wrong have I done to deserve the rape, dismemberment and the disfiguration of my body ? Why have my very own forsaken me ? Each and every Goan has to have an answer to these questions and pledge today that Mother Goa will not have anything to complain about. It is the duty of every Goan to support the initiative taken by the GRA and join in large numbers in the war against corruption on 15th March at Panjim. I pray to the leaders of the GRA never to forget the aim and the purpose of this union and become the entity that Goans will love and cherish, at the same time all efforts should be made to remain faithful to the promises made and work towards fulfilling the aspirations of Goa and Goans, and lastly GRA should not get carried away by the success or the allure of wealth and should stay away from the offers and compromises made by our current corrupt politicians. Let’s be the change that needth be. My sincere best wishes to GRA.
