CHAOTIC CANDOLIM GRAM SABAH.

By abruptly closing the today’s Gram Sabah of Candolim Panchayat and with the taking over the Panchayat administration by the new committee headed by Blaze, there appeared to be confusion.  Since my returning back to Goa 3 years  back this is the first time I see most chaotic meet though excellent input by the people attended this Meet where Damian Telles from Orda turned out to be the hero of the day.  By posing extremely important and relevant questions with the fluency of both the languages namely Konkani and English as he is the professional DJ & Compere, he proved that he is knowledgeable man in many of the issues Panchayat should handle but unfortunately not handling.  With the excuse of time constraint, the new Sarpanch Blaize depriving the people from asking relevant questions. At least sufficient time should be given to the attendees to get satisfaction to their queries.

Another hurdle the Sarpanch put to the people was to ask almost every question in writing. This looked to be unfair and I don’t know under what clause of Panchayti Raj the Sarpanch acted thus, though the representative of BDO was also present.

The Meet started in a very amateur manner by the amateur like Panchayati members headed by the Sarpanch. There was no agenda circulated to the attendees in the beginning. Besides there was no electricity in the hall nor was there a Fan facility.  Only after a lengthy delay for starting the Meet perspiration and sweating of the people in the hall was stopped.  The venue of this Meet today was one Classroom of the government school in my village which incidentally was my last classroom in 1962 March when I finished my Portuguese education there.  The name and everything remained the same from 1962 till now.

Good that Michael Lobo the local MLA and Dpty.Speaker was present for this meet to throw light on many contentious issues otherwise I don’t think anyone on behalf of Panchayat  would answer many of the queries of the people especially on ODP and CRZ. Blaze lacks the required tact and knowledge to handle and take the people with him and thru his negative body language approach and challenging type of appearance he indicated his weakness.  Because of this attitude of his, he, I feel may provoke anybody ether in the Gram Saba Meet or during his encounter with any of the villagers in his office.  The next 5 years will remain complicated. He should learn some ways of handling the public from Michael Lobo who has improved a lot acquiring all the best habits to deal with the public.

Public life is not a joke to handle, to fit in the Chair of a Sarpanch one must be a real born  Lazarus or Peter and not any Ladru or Pedru.  Today our system of public handling is collapsed because our illiterate, immature, illicit leaders are become unfit for this job.  Today what is important is money and money and more money acquired thru illicit means.  And entering into politics at Panchayati level and then at State Assembly level will flood you with ample of opportunities to acquire illicit wealth by extorting bribe from the public to build Bungalows, Restaurants, Hotels and purchase expensive Cars?  Government must first inititiate enquiry of how they acquired such a massive wealth.  From where they got these money to build the financial emire?

There was one question raised by one villager asking MichaelLobo “why there is no control over the bad activities of the Touts spread everywhere in our village who while supplying guests to the hoteliers also supply drugs and prostitutes.   Here Lobo and the Sarpanch looked  a bit sympathetic towards Touts but in one voice very vociferously the attendees demanded from Lobo to put an end to the Touts in our village because they said “we are more interested in protecting our morality”. It should be known that just because of money one should not supply one’s wife, daughter and sister. 

The other critical question posed by the members of public was apathy by the Public Information Officer of Candolim Panchayat in not giving reply to the RTI of the local. Besides, many more issues were raised by the public but the Panchaya ledership looked a bit shaky.  As days and months and years go, they will be more and more shaken because from what I  witnessed today thru the fury of the locals who came in such a big number, the locals in Candolim have aroused.  At one particular time, when the former Sarpanch Sandra unnecessarily poked her nose when Damian was asking the chair some clarification, asked Damian in the Hitlerian voice, “are you the spokesperson of Panchayat?  Who  are you? You are nothing?  You just shut up there, you know nothing, stupid woman".  Sandra was the former Sarpanch and now an ordinary Panch.

Before concluding this piece, as asked by Cheddo, let me tell the Panchayat members majority of whom are old ones, that they must come out openly how they have given licenses to the big hoteliers to construct their hotels without the provision for Parking areas.  Was it done thru receiving the bribe and if yes who was responsible for this “Chori”?  If what I said is wrong then they must tell the hoteliers that they have no right to park their fleet of cars on the public road and block the roads for public.  Now in Candolim Ximer there is one more big hotel is coming, are they going to have their own parking area away from the public road?  The hotel built next to Holy Cross “Mandd” is making a mess of their cars on the public road in front of Azilo and in front of Novetel Hotel Ximer it is very risky to cross the road.  

After the Gram Sabah, some villagers approached me to form a Constituency Forum.  For them my advise is this, it is very good idea because we have to control the working of the current stupid local leaders but to do this we have to have first Candolim Forum.  Is there any one coming forward? I have no trust in Panchayat leaders nor any other current leaders to do something extraordinarily good in our village especially those naturalized leaders and those “kalche porche potte” without wisdom, maturity and firm roots in Candolim. They all combined together will destroy the greatness of Candolim which is known to give birth to the world renowned hypnotist Abade Faria, the Pinto Revolutionary Priests who opposed Portuguese rule in Goa, Dr. Gustavo Monteiro a social worker who laid the solid foundation for Candolim Foot-ball activities and who was the first Candoicar Legislator during the Portuguese time when he represented our locality in the Goa Legislativo Council and his priest brother Pe. Chico Monteiro who alone single handedly defied the invasion of Goa by the Bharat serkar of Nehru. When the grandeur of our village is so high, don’t you think we must have our local leaders having high grade intellectual caliber and not “Chors and Bamtte” who are good to play “Ghoddeancho khell”?

BEAUTIFUL KONKANI OLD SONGS.

There was a time during the Portuguese rule in Goa, qualitative Konkani songs were recorded at Emisora de Goa by the highly qualitative Goan Tiatrist Singers who are dead and gone now.  Some of them like Alexinho de Candolim, Kid Boxer, M. Dod de Verna, Remie J Colaco, Souza Giao, A.M. B. Rose, Minguel Rod, Young Menezes, Miss Mohana, Georgina Jacques and many more have created special niche in the hearts of Konkani lover Goans entirely because of their beautiful, wisdomatic and informative songs they rendered.  Their recorded songs are priceless and the present generation should be kept aware of these songs.

However, the present management of All India Radio Panaji due to reasons best known to them only have stopped airing these songs.  I hope they are not destroyed nor got destroyed. By all means they should be salvaged and if necessary transferred to CD’s and played regularly. 

There are lot of stories going on that this  priceless treasure is spoiled due to neglect but personally I don’t believe this.  However, little clarification from the concerned people would be an appropriate solace for those who doubt the existence of these songs. In these songs one can enjoy very good lyrics, excellent way of singing and beautiful musical score.  These attributes made these songs beautiful.  Besides, these beautiful Konkani songs rendered by the great stalwarts of yesteryears adds more beauty and greatness to Konkani Language. It is these songs that enhanced the importance of Konkani language.

MEETING TO CONDEMN ATTROCITIES ON MINORITIES

.

Today at 3.30 PM at Azad Maidan Panjim, attended by a huge crowd, a public meetng was held to raise the voice of concerned citizens against the atrocities committed on  the minorities in Goa and elsewhere in India where the governments at the Centre and in Goa are watching as mute spectators.  It was well attended by the Christians as usual and Muslims too, not only this even addressed in greater number by the Muslims, including Muslim females. This is a rare occasion for me to see such a secular meeting and metropolitan too at Azad Maidan in Panjim.  One of the speakers was a Muslim lady scholar and one of the Compeers was a Muslim too Zeeba Khan along with  her brother Usman Khan, both of them controlled the proceedings well.

The others who spoke were Fr. Robin Rodrigues, Mr. Soter D’Souza, Sabrina Martins, Asif and Raju Naik.  The best speech was delivered by Fr. Robin the Parish Priest of Bastora, like a King David’s Psalm asking God guidance to move in a rough way. Soter D’Souza in his speech with lot of quotations of great men exposed the governments at the Centre as well as in Goa for being mute spectators.

Sabrina Martins detailed her  activities in fighting for justice even against the dictate of the politicians and government. Raju Naik asked “if cow is our mother then bull is our father? “  Asif disclosed how Modi government since coming to power has spoiled the economy of India. Chandrakant spoke against the atrocities committed against the Harizans quoting Ambedkar for his excellence.

Earlier soon after the start of the proceedings, well-known Stage artistes Anil – Olga entertained the huge crowd with their beautiful songs, two duets and two solos which were profusely applauded by the gathered attendees.  The highly political solo of which type one rarely listens was rendered by Olga very beautifully with a repeat performance.  Those who sees Olga for the first time were totally dazzled by her singing beauty and physical beauty too.

One well known comedian  who promised to perform there has regretfully failed not only to come but also to inform of his inability thereby putting the organizers out of track and in tension.  This is not the job of an upright man, he should know the value of the word and promise.

FORSULO DOES NOT LOOK LIKE THE REAL CULPRIT.

 A fact-finding mission launched by an outfit linked with the Goa Church on Saturday said the arrest of a man for a series of desecrations of holy crosses in Goa seemed to be a ploy to “divert attention”.

“It has been reported that one Francis Pereira has admitted to have single-handedly desecrated and vandalised one hundred and forty-odd religious symbols in the last five years,” Fr Savio Fernandes, executive secretary, Council for Social Justice and Peace (CSJP), said in a statement.

The above news is gone viral. It is really difficult to admit that one person has committed such heinous crimes single-handedly and as per my observation the investigation carried of his actions was shoddy. He was shown on the wall walking but not shown how he climbed up the wall nor shown how he brings his vehicle to the spot of vandalism. Did he used the Ladder or did he climb on the shoulder of one person who was with him and reached on top of the wall?  Otherwise did he indicate his expertise (if he has) of a thief Jean Valgean as described by Victor Hugo in his epic “Les Miserable” where Jean Valgean climbing the walls without any other outside assistance?

Secondly, during the course of the interrogation and investigation as shown in the TV, why the instrument or hammer with which he broke the Crosses and Statues not shown?  Was it small hammer of the type Psycho Raman Ragao used in early seventies in Bombay to kill the women to suck their breast and to drink their milk?  To break the Crosses constructed of Stones and Cement is not an easy job.  It will not break in one hit easily and that will create loud noise alerting the neghbours.

Taking into consideration all these factors, it becomes difficult to admit the version given by Parricar.  I still feel Parricar and his government machinery is geared up to fabricate the facts and instead feed the people especially the Catholics in Goa on Goebellian lies. By using Goebellian lies Hitler made lot of progress in his quest for the world conquest and ultimately lost everything including his own life and also that of Dr. Goebell.  The same fate will fall on Parricar very shortly because he is giving an impression that he is siding with the real culprits who are actually the brain behind these crimes and Francis like a real Forsulo looked to become scapegoat. The truth must be openly disclosed. The evidence of suppression of truth is further confirmed when Parricar as CM himself has conducted the investigation when this is not his job and he got no business to usurp the power of the Police.

The way Francis Pereira acts during the investigation, it looks that he is not a criminal nor a culprit but just helping the Police in their investigation.  This was further fortified the way Police also talks to him as if he was their colleague.  There seems to be something mysterious going on between Francis Pereira on one hand and Parricar and Police on the other side. This is the time for the Church and all Catholics minus the elected ones to stand firmly together to fight for the truth and nothing but truth. There is nothing for us to lean on Catholic ML’s who will stoop down if Parricar tells them just to bend down.  They are spineless to fight for justice.

ENTERING OF CHORS IN OUR PANCHAYATS.

Hardly a month is completed and some members of some Panchayats especially the Sarpanchas and other members of the ruling factions started looting and acting as feudal lords in some of the Panchayats in our areas.  They have started demanding without any shame bribe for the services rendered by the Panchayats.  As per my observation, those Panchayat Members who are involved in such bribe extortion are belonging to the lower grade of the society with third grade family background and whose parents have failed to inculcate a sense of dignified discipline  in them. They are brought up at their homes like “Chor and Bamtte”. For this reason they are committing such dirty acts.

There was a time during the Portuguese rule in Goa when our village affairs were administered by a one man village body  called Regidores who used to control the village affairs very systematically. He was selected by the higher authority on the basis of his character, educational background, discipline, morality and the knowledge of the subject he would handle. 

However, now we have Panchayats comprising around 10 members and still we cannot put the village affairs on the right track?  Why this inefficiency?  It is only because of the greed for illicit money extorted as bribe from the villagers by the elected members.  The next 5 years are going to be very bad for us. Normally it is not easy to get your work done in your Panchayat unless you pay as bribe to the Panchayat which amount then distributed to all the members, the bigger share goes to the Sarpanch.  For this reason there is so much of pressure to get elected in the Panchayat. And precisely because of this illicit money collection, Panchayat members are become rich within a very short time. I see this evidence with my own eyes in front of my own shadow. Otherwise, how they can build bungalows, restaurants, hotels and purchase expensive cars? What is their salaries they get from the Panchayats?  Below my nose there are so many of them who fall into this category. They don’t even have shame to mingle in society when people call them as “Chors”.  Many of such chors are daily Church goers and also recipients of holy communion. 

The other malady  afflicted to our Panchayats is the interference of the husbands of their elected member wives mainly on the basis of their reserved quota for females.  These husbands act not only as “de facto” spokesmen of their wives in official dealings but also as”de jure”.  How low our democracy has stooped because of the low grade category of our low grade  elected members. These husbands are wielding more powers than their elected wives.  Their only motto is to acquire power and illicit money if necessary even by selling and supplying their wives to the customers. And how this type of activities are functioning without a warning from the higher authority is itself a big question mark.  In view of what I said above, are we worthy of this democracy which is converted into a mockery by our politicians, common men and political leaders?

In Calangute at Khobravaddo, on 4^th of this month at 7.30 PM at the popular Resto Bar Restaurant, the organizers of the ”LEGENDS OF THE BEAUTIFUL GAME” felicitated 12 ex footballers of Goa who were all famous during their time, donning the uniforms of their own respective Clubs, one of them was Peter Fernandes known as Cheddo from Candolim and playing for Goa Police from 1957 approximately, he was the senior most among all those who were felicitated and playing the longest inning about 25 years as regular for Goa Police Team in the forward line and scoring thru his deadly right footer some of the finest goals for Goa Police Team. Side by side, he was also playing for his village Team of Candolim in the inter-village tournaments along with his other two brothers.

In fact, Candolim is yet to produce another of his like after he retired from playing active soccer.  His one goal that he scored almost from the centre line by dribbling past 3 opponents, thru his powerful left  footer against  the then mighty Academica of Panjim will remain as the testimony of his genius of scoring goals.  During his prime time during the Portuguese rule while playing along with Portuguese nationals, he was considered as one of the best forwards in Goa. During that time he was even getting best of offers from the local giants as well as from Bombay but he declined them all because of the government job he was given by the Goa Police as a Technician.

The other two prominents were Albino and Isac both from Sesa Goa, Isac was the strong defender while Albino was the excellent forward scoring beautiful goals coming from his powerful right footer. Later on approximately in late seventies he migrated to Kuwait where he kept his name high by playing soccer in the expatriate tournaments held at Ahmadi and Kuwait City Sour Grounds.  Sesa is yet to get another such a magnificent goal scorer in its rank.

The chief guest Mr. Anthony Menezes the newly elected Sarpanch of Calangute praised the organizers for organizing this event, so also the Vice President Cyriaco Dias and the President Bonny who was the major force behind this event. COW VIGILANTES ARE INDIAN TERRORISTS.

“´Police detain local leaders after communal tension erupted at Manuwa village following the lynching of Alimuddin by a mob allegedly for carrying beef in his van on Thursday. 

Ramgarh police have arrested a BJP leader, Nityanand Mahto on Saturday in connection with the lynching of a Muslim trader Alimuddin by a mob in Jharkhand’s Ramgarh two days back.

The main accused Chottu Rana, who was seen beating Alimuddin with a stick repeatedly in a video, surrendered before the court, Ramgarh superintendent of police, Kaushal Kishore said.

55-year-old Alimuddin alias Asgar Ali was lynched by a frenzied mob of about 100 people for allegedly carrying beef in his car. The incident happened at the Bazartand market of the district on Thursday, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that he disapproved killing people in the name of protecting cows.

Thursday’s lynching was the second attack in June by cow vigilantes in Jharkhand as a 200-strong mob thrashed a 55-year-old Muslim dairy owner and set his house ablaze after a cow carcass was found near his home in Giridih district on Tuesday.

In May, a mob lynched four Muslim cattle traders at a village in Saraikelka Kharswan district after accusing them of being child traffickers.”

                    

The above news is gone viral now and it is surprising how the Cow Vigilantes inspite of Premier’s warning dared to act like this, worst than the Butchers.  Again today the President of India too showed his condemnation to this crime of Cow Vigilantes.  But in India who cares for Premier and President?  Premier is known to have committed violent acts earlier for this reason USA banned his entry there though now he is accepted there and the president though a highly dignified man yet he has no power like Premier to take severe action against these Cow Vigilantes who are the greatest terrorists, worst than Pakistani terrorists. It is these terrorists who will destabilize India FURTHER by creating disorder in India and NOT Pakistan and its terrorists. They are now trying to control human behavior and they are well protected by the current BJP governments at the Center and in the States. For this reason this dirty game of these Cow Vigilantes is going on uninterrupted and unhindered.  It is surprising that NONE OF THE CHRISTAO MLA’S from Goa is raising his or her voice.  What a servility to surrender like slaves totally to the BJP ideology even though they all know that the sentiments of their community is hurt.  Those Cristao who voted for BJP are happy now?  Wait for  little, instead of them you the voters like Judas will have to commit suicide.

Who authorized these Cow Vigilantes to take the barbaric law into their own hands to commit the barbarity of medieval age type? Are they real Indians? Even if yes I must tell them firmly that they are the strong enemies of India and Indians.  How they can say that the beef they confiscated was of Cow or of Bull or of Buffalo?  And who stopped people eating beef of others than that of Cows?  If Cow is “Mata” then what about Bull and Buffalo?  They are also prohibited and by whom and when? Yesterday the Chief of BJP at All India level, disclosed that it was Congress who initiated the prohibition of butchering Cows for consuming its meat but why now BJP cannot reverse that decision?  Why blame Congress and absolve BJP of the sin that they are also responsible? There is a saying in Konkani “PADREAK KHUIM NIB VONNACHEM” and such “PADRE” are plenty in BJP for this reason they blame Congress when they must know that they are come to power to reverse all the bad legislations of Congress.  If Congress is doing prostitution then BJP too follow Congress?  It is rubbish.

It is disgusting that India is ruled by such a communal party that is imposing Hinduism on non-Hindus also by using their barbaric power. They have no right to do this and by doing this they bring a bad name to their brand of Hinduism.  And it is not that easy though our elders from Goa died and gone but most of them they cursed this type of Indian leaders who disgraced the greatness of great India.  Some of them were very disappointed before their death that our beautiful Goa is fallen into the hands of India of communal people and leaders. We were so nicely living as brothers without any discrimination on the basis of religion but this curse of communalism entered into Goa soon after our Goa was robbed from us by the Bharat in the name of liberation which is nothing but the mockery of liberation.  If Goa was liberated it would have been in our hands just like Bangladesh which was liberated by India and handed over to the sons and daughter of the soil. But in our case it was a robbery or Invasion or Conquest.  I feel pity for my Goa.

PARRICAR & BANDODCAR ARE SAME.

“Salcete didn’t vote for BJP, but my Govt won’t neglect it: Parrikar”, said Parricar recently as per the media reports.  Fine, it is not a big thing if Salcette was neglected as a punishment by the government of the ruling party BJP just as MGP did under Dayananda Bandodcar when MGP won the elections in Goa.  Being a half ”Botto”, Bandodcar can speak such a language but surely not Parricar.  By talking thus, Parricar is trying foolishly to gain cheap sympathy from the public mainly from the Salcette as if he is doing a favour on Salcette. He should know that his government is elected to serve entire Goa and not minus Salcette. This that “Botto” did not realized earlier.

First of all it is not correct on any ruling party government to neglect the segment of people that  did not vote for the ruling party government.  Once any party forms the government, the same government becomes duty bound to cater to the needs of the entire area of the territory or state or the country. What Parricar is talking is all bullshit.  As an educated man such thoughts should not come into his mind.

Till his death, Bandodcar took his revenge on Salcette for not voting for MGP, by ignoring its development. He concentrated his whole attention on North Goa by doing lot of developments in this segment, even the roads in this area were far better than those in the Salcette.  His daughter after his death carried forward the same revengeful policy against Salcette till she was kicked out of power by her own partymen like Dayananda Narvenkar, Dilkush Desai and others. When anybody acts too much with anger and revenge against others, he/she ultimately collapses beyond recovery because this is the natural law.

Bandodcar was acting too harsh against Salcette  because it was dominated by Christians and since he was having revenge against Christians, he with the political power backing him, was working against the interest of the entire Christan community in Goa, at least clandestinely.  The MGP itself is ANTI-CHRISTIAN. The same tirade against the Christians was carried forward by Shashikala Kakodcar. And what punishment they got?  One i.e Bandodcar died while playing Table Tennis in Panjim and his daughter Shashikala was miserably failed to acquire the power again. With these two major setback, the family raj of Bandodcar was disappeared from this planet., What a great fall was that ! With that fall a curse on Goa disappeared.
