JERRY’S NEW CD.
                         

After successfully releasing his earlier 2 Konkani Albums, first a CD “CALANGUTE” in 2009 and the second a DVD as well as CD in 2016 “UGDDAS M. BOYERACHO”, so now again this year, 2019 in this month on 29^th, the well-known singer Jerry Cal from Calangute is all set to release his third Konkani Album a CD, “VISVAXI LEADER”. This release will be done in Calangute, at Khobravaddo, at the Jerissa Paradise Guest House, at 8.00 PM.

There are in all 15 songs in this Album and they are well rendered by the top singers of Konkani Stage. With the exception of 6 songs, all the other songs are composed by Jerry Cal who is one of the best composers of Konkani songs. They are all qualitatively very high songs.  In fact to compose such songs the composer needs to have vast knowledge of the subjects he choose and since the composer is having this required knowledge, he managed to give to the listeners such a beautiful Album.  Some of the songs such as the one based on the great ancient Greek Philosopher Diogenes, Alexinho de Candolim, Indo-Pak conflict, Last Foot-ball World Cup, Kuwaitche Goyenkar, Goans migrating to outside, Scientist and the last Parish Priest of Calangute Fr. Cypriano are just a class by itself. All these songs truly speaking are historically and intellectually very high. I have listened to these songs and I have  found them just exra ordinry because such songs I have never heard earlier.  This is the reason the name of Jerry is creating  waves in the Goan Tiatrical world.

Besides the remaining songs are composed by their respective singers namely Prince Jacob, Benny de Aldona and Salvadoir Silveira.  These songs also carry a lot of weight thus increasing the quality of this Album. All these songs are rendered beautifully with their beautiful voices besides Jerry Cal by Lawry Travasso, Marcus Vaz, Prince Jacob, Benny de Aldona, Cajetan de Curtorim, Salvador Silveira, Pascoal de Calangute, Lourdes, Bushka, Jessica and Olga.

Coming back to Jerry Call, his youth was full of Tiatrical activities in his locality, at Arpora School and in the surrounding areas.  Because of his education and migrating to the Gulf, Abu Dhabi, soon after finishing his schooling and professional course of three years in Cateering at Taj Hotel, Bombay, he took up the employment and thus missed the chance to develop himself as the professional Tiatrist. Otherwise, he would be one of the best professional singers and composers.

In Abu Dhabi while he was working as the Executive Chef at Abu Dhabi Hilton where he recruited so many Goans, he started organsing Tiatros there by bringing Tiatrists from Goa.  He also brought prominent Tiatrists with their groups to perform in the Gulf.
   

Musical score for this beautiful CD is beautifully provided by Shanon, Roy and their colleagues and because of their beautiful music the beauty of this CD increased.

Who is Jerry Cal?  His real name is Jeronimo Tiburcio  Fernandes from Porbavaddo, Calangute who was an avid follower and supporter of Konkani songs and Tiatros and himself being a very good singer and composer acting in Tiatros from his early age in his locality and in the surrounding areas as well as in his school at St. Joseph’s High School Arpora.  Later on he carried this Tiatro art with him to Abu Dhabi where he fully dipped himself in the promotion of Tiatros in UAE not only by acting in the Tiatros staged there but also by bringing Goan Tiatrists to UAE. 

He was too deeply immersed himself in Konkani movement from UAE and very few Goans have supported the Konkani movement in the Gulf and in the whole of Goan world as he did. It is a pity that in Goa those who are on the forefront to promote Konkani  are become dumb, deaf and blind to recognize his contribution towards Konkani especially the Romi Konkani.
   

While speaking to this writer, Jerry Cal appreciated the kind gesture of Manfa Music, Margao, Sinari Shop Panji, Music House Mapusa, Mu- nicipal Market and also he thanked all his friends and colleagues who helped him to market this Album.

BOYERACHO” – now again this year at the end of this month, to be precise on 29.09.19, the well-known singer Jerry Cal from Calangute is all set to release his third Konkani Album – VISVAXI LEADER - in the form of CD. 

The best singers of Konkani Stage are selected to render the best 15 songs of which type rarely people must have heard in the past and as per my information all these songs are of different topics and qualitatively they are very high, all these songs minus 6 are composed by Jerry Cal.  It was a very painstaking job  to compose such high calibre songs where you have to have the vast knowledge of all the subjects.  

In fact some of the topics are based on Ancient Greek Philosopher Diogenes,  the other topic is based on Indo-Pak problem, another topic is on the great yesteryears Tiatrist Alexinho de Candolim whose narration was done so well, yet another song on degoanisation of Goa due to large scale of outgoing of Goans, yet another topic is the incident of invasion of Kuwait and the ingratitude of Goa based Goans towards Goans in Kuwait, the other topic is on the last World Cup and soccer in general with very good message to improve Indian soccer. These selected singers besides Jerry Cal are Benny de Aldona, Prince Jacob, Lawry Travasso, Marcos Vaz, Cajetan de Curtorim, Pascoal de Calangute, Salvador Silveira, Lourdes, Bushka, Jessica and Olga Vaz.

POWER OF PUBLIC OPINION.

Goan Roads are in a mess having Potholes almost everywhere and on top of it the impotent BJP government formed by using the third class MLA’s of Congress Party is claiming it is functioning well.  My foot!! Nothing is functioning well in Goa under BJP government. All they say that they will do anything once they are elected and  once they get elected not thru the ballot papers but by the Bribe they pay to the FIRST CLASS ANTI-DEMOCRATIC BASTARD VOTERS who by accepting the bribe money put our beautiful democracy in the gutter. And on top of it all the Bastard voters whether Goans or Ghanttis are committing a murder on the genuine interest of Goa.  

Currently and since they came to power allegedly by purchasing the Congress MLA’s like “Bangdde”, BJP MLA’s and Montris are on looting spree, they care nobody, neither their voters nor God even because  they consider their voters as “Ghantta Boil” who will do exactly  what their masters are telling them to do.  I would rather trust any “Cheddi” from the brothel but never these Besterdised Goans who for the sake of money  will even sell their wives and daughters. BJP officials, MLA’s and Montris are well aware of the quality of these vote seller Goans who are a disgrace on Goan community.  If  anywhere in the world such big Potholes are found on the road, the public will go to the houses of their MLA’s, Montris and Contractors, pull them out by catching to  their necks and rub their noses in big Potholes because they know that what they are demanding is genuine since they pay Road Taxes to get better roads and not these dirty with big Potholes.

It is a pity that nobody in the government is listening to the cries of the public to repair the roads where because of the big Potholes so  many accidents are taking place and  so many people die on the road.  The persons who are responsible namely MLA’s and Montris are not indicating any interest in solving the grievances of the public.  Why they are dumb, deaf and blind to the public grievances?  Because they are genuinely “ROSTAD” coming from the ROSTAD family background having received no proper discipline at their homes from their parents because they lack parents and parental care.  They are born on the “Dongrar” and will die in the “Ranant”.  They are not cultured people, they are selfish and sexually perverted, they are good at performing the scheme called “NArvenkarism” and those who are involved in the Narvenkarism they are bound to be sick people and mentally deranged.

In order to awaken the people of Goa after doing everything possible within their capacity, the Goans, the genuine Goans under the able leadership of the celebrity dancing Goan girl known as Supermom Cecille Rodrigues from Taleigao came out with one novel idea thru which she formed a group of few young girls like her and produced a Video where they are shown singing a song originally rendered by Lorna but Supermom adjusted it a bit to suit her need.  This song and Video is creating heavy awakening in Goa of the very bad roads of Goa.  It is creating a very good effect outside Goa in Europe, America and Russia from where many tourists were pouring in Goa.  After seeing this video, according to my information the European, American and Russian regular tourists have decided not to come to Goa anymore.  Even in many other States in India this video is creating ripples thru which preventing the Indian tourists from coming to Goa.  The coming tourism season will surely have negative effects on tourism.

Now I am congratulating Supermom Cecille Rodrigues for initiating an unique form of campaign over our Roads full of Potholes. When this government cannot provide the basic need of good road then it has no right to run the government. Such impotent government should not even talk of its prowess. When politicians with the necessary power in their hands failed to take up the issues of public interest then the non-political  and non-governmental figures come into the picture like  the Supermom and when they enter into this field due to their vast public following as Supermom Cecille Rodrigues, the importance of the issue is enhanced which automatically create momentum for the public to raise their voices in unison thereby forcing the otherwise dormant government to wake up and take immediate action.     Supermom Cecille is like a one person army and with her colleagues along with her she is capable to create havoc with this useless government of BJP.                                       

I remember how the outstanding world renown sporting icon, the greatest Mohammed Ali, the World Heavyweight Boxing Champion used his sporting popularity to force the USA to  put an end to  Vietnam War.  When everyone in the USA and elsewhere in the World exhausted their avenues to force America to stop them fighting in this foulest war where Americans used deadliest weapons against Vietnamese, the great Philosopher cum Mathemetician Betrand Russel formed a group of world renowned scientists and other intellectuals including Nobel Prize winnners and conducted the Nuremburg type of trial of the involvement of USA  in this war. This group of Betrand Russel came to the conclusion that this was the worst war fought on this planet where great losses have been suffered and extremely high cruelties have been committed in this war by the Americans. But still America refused to withdraw inspite of the trial of America done by the great stalwarts  of this planet holding the Americans responsible for the calamities suffered in this war.

During that time, the great World Heavyweight Boxing Champion Muhammed Ali was stripped of his title because he refused to get himself conscripted into Army and go to Vietnam War.  His case was still  in the American Court but while this case was still subjudice and still to take some more time, the news of this case spread all over the World.  Since Mohmmed Ali was known all around the globe, there was anxiety grew up into the minds of the people all around the World.  People started enquiring why America Is harassing darling Boxer Ali and infact people became more conscious of this case and thus Mohammed Ali became more famous while American administration found to be the worst administration thereby Americans started losing the sympathy and goodwill of the people not from the local Americans but also from the entire world.  Mohammed Ali’s supporters spread all over  the World started abusing USA. 

Betrand Russel was watching this whole drama and when he was convinced that only the most  popular personality with supporters from all over the World is capable to create public opinion against USA, Betrand Russel in a telephonic conversation with Mohammed Ali commented thus: “I fully support your fight against American involvement in Vietnam.  In the history of humanity there was not a single war more barbaric than this war.  I support you, please carry on”. Within a short time due to the campaign of Mohammed Ali, public opinion turned against USA forcing USA to withdraw from this war.

NEW TIATRO "DUSREANCHEM DHUINAKAT" BY GREG DE CANDOLIM.

Sponsored by the former MLA Agnelo Fernandes from Calangute constituency and hailing from the village Candolim and attended by the moderate number of attendees at Candolim Ximer Hall, well known in the locality and elsewhere too, Greg de Candolim successfully staged his new Tiatro on 15th of this month starting at 8.55 PM instead of at 8.30 PM as announced by the organisers.  This Tiatro was staged to mark the feast of Nossa Senhora de Remedios at the Chapel of Monteiros. While showering praises on the Director for showing vast improving in this year’s Tiatro compared to earlier ones and assuring his support for such ventures in the future, he congratulated the director for staging a good Tiatro.

The participation  of the artistes in this Tiatro was the blend of some professional and some amateurs so too some from the director’s locality while others from outside but all of them performed their roles either in the play or in the songs well thus creating good impression into the minds of the audience who remained seated on the chairs till the last minute.  Among the audience there were some from Siolim, Parra, Saligao, Pilerne, Nerul and other places and not from Candolim only.  This audience was wooed by the charismatic image of the director not only on the Stage but also beyond it.

There are very few sons and daughters of the yesteryears Tiatrists especially those who left this world, who took up to acting in the Tiatros following in the footsteps of their fathers; the passionate after the Tiatro,  Greg de Candolim the writer, director and actor too of this Tiatro “DUSREANCHEM DHUINAKAT”  is one of them.  He is following in the footsteps of his father P.Jack the then ace comedian who acted with those days great and gigantic Tiatrists and earned name and fame. During those days in our locality and in surrounding areas, so too in cities including Bombay where he first shot into prominence, the name of P. Jack indicated in the Handbill was enough for the people to flock to the "Mattou" where  P. Jack was acting. He was regular for Alexinho de Candolim.

The major pressure of the Play was shouldered by Siddart, Comedian Johny de Calangute, Estu, Assumpta and the youthful beauty of Konkani Stage Staci Mesquita who decorated her body with disciplined and nice dress code thereby maintaining the dignity of the female. The comedy role played  by Comedian Johny de Calangute was well appreciated by the audience and given a chance  I am sure he will fill the void created by any of the top comedians. His acrobatic body moves were superb and his Stage confidence was excellent.  The professional directors who are using the third class “Burxe” comedians in their Burxe Tiatros threby earning them the bad name as they are the promoters of Burxe Tiatrists, they should utilize his talent. For me he looks like a born Comedian.

The role of the elderly woman played by Assumpta was  great though at moments her hidden youthfulness suddenly appearing on the surface. The youngsters namely Websteer, Avelino and Siora played their roles well especial mention must be made to this young girl Siora who indicated lot of self confidence while doing her role. Greg de Candolim played his role well thereby indicating that he is also a good actor. Estu and Joe Luis did justice to their roles.

In the Side Show songs, the best song I liked was the one rendered by Anna Maria and Staci Mesquita with the perfect blending of their beautiful voices, they deserve highest compliments for this song. The duo of Lynne and Violet was also rendered well. The others who sang well were Anil & Olga duets, Joe Luis his duet with Anna Maria and the trio by Parra Boys. The solo rendered by Olga was excellent. The other solos rendered by Staci Mesquita, young boy Jovito, Ortencio, Tony de Ribandar,  his stylish singer son Mythen and Eugeno Cardoso (2 solos).

THE LATE GREAT TIATRIST F.X.PEREIRA

Deeply shocked to know of the death on the 10^th of this month, of once renowned Tiatrist and a great songster F.X. Pereira in London where he was living along with his family since a long time now. His birth place in Goa is Cortalim same as that of the legendary Tiatrist the late Minguel Rod.  It is very sad to see so many of our senior Tiatrists are bidding adieu to this planet.

F.X. Pereira is not only one of the best Tiatrists but more than that    he was the best human being with very high discipline, good moral background, never using foul language and totally against the vulgarity displayed on the Stage by the “Burxe” comedians.  All his superb qualities were totally different from the qualities of majority of the other Tiatrists. A deeply religious man he always followed the Chriistian doctrine in his life besides being very humble.  He never suffered from the empty superiority complex normally associated with the tin-pot Tiatrists.

He came to Kuwait somewhere in 1977 and along with Mendes Bros he started his Tiatro career in Kuwait at Keefan Hall in the same year when he rendered two most precious songs, namely A-B-C and “Missachi Bhett Konkanin” in front of the Hall-packed audience who showered him with love and affection. Thereafter he became the most adorable Tiatrist in Kuwait among all  based in Kuwait. Some of his songs he rendered along with Verna Bros., namely Francis and the late Patrick, so also with the late Tony Call. All his songs were meaningful and social and family issues.   The beauty of his songs concentrated mainly on his beautiful and melodious voice

Being a highly respectable and dignified man in society and in the community as well, he lived a decent life with his family till he left for UK. As a compassionate and charitable man, he helped many boys in getting them employment at Ahmadi Oil Center and always participated in any activity organized for any good cause mainly the Konkani.

In early seventies he shot into limelight with the above mentioned two songs and before coming to Kuwait in 1977 working at Ahmadi KOC Center where he won the hearts of Kuwaitis and Westerners too under whom he worked, he won first prizes for being best solo singers in the competition organized by Kala academy, Panjim. In Kuwait Ahmadi Church he was very active in conducting especial prayers on every Friday in Konkani where he used to sing the different beautiful hymns with his melodious voice.

He was a great lover of Goa and Konkani and when we started our movement in Kuwait under Novem Goem Pratishthan Kuwait Somiti to raise funds for the people’s daily “Novem Goem”, he volunteered to stage his Tiatro “Kon Zait Tho” where not a single participant charged a paisa and thus we collected over a lakh of rupees major share coming from the excellent Souvenir we released. He was very helpful in participating in any activity done for the cause of Konkani.  He was one of the few Tiatrists whose contribution in the promotion of Konkani will remain written in golden letters.  May his soul rest in peace and may the Heavenly God give courage to his wife and children to bear this colossal loss. His death is a big loss to Konkani Stage. May his soul rest in peace.
