This is to salute the contribution of Dr. Juliao Menezes in Goa’s
freedom movement, so also of many other Dr. Juliao Menezeses whose
contributions were ignored either purposely and or due to the lethargic
attitude of the authorities and persons concerned to investigate correctly and award the
deserving ones. Goan history is recorded
not only in books, Newspapers and other such materials but also in Tiatros,
Songs
and Zagors too besides in “Xemaincheo Kannio” and thru stories derived
from mouth to mouth.
Dr. Lohia gained prominence in Goa then only because of Dr. Menezes who
invited him to be his guest and to
recuperate because during the freedom movement of India he suffered a lot and
as such he needed rest. However, due to circumstances existing then,
the time for Portuguese to leave Goa was imperative, peacefully with proper
understanding between Goa and Portugal as it was done in Pondichery or
Macao, to avoid the chaos we Goans are
facing in our Goa now with the clandestine support by Delhi where our top
leaders stationed in Delhi are trying to degoanise Goa and to diminish Christian
influence in Goa. The
ruling party members are not capable to rule the Secular India because these rulers are parochial and as such they don’t understand the
deep meaning of Secularism.
Coming back to Dr. Lohia’s presence and active participation in the civil disobedience acitivty in Margao, it
is confirmed beyond any doubt that Dr. Lohia was never reached at Lohia
Maidan. The preparation for that historical Meet on 18th June was
done according to my information, by Dr. Menezes and as known then as
firebrand speaker, Dr. Lohia was to address this Meet. However, before entering
the Maidan, Dr. Lohia was arrested and
sent to the border and deported back to Bharati land thru Maharastra that
proved to be the worst State for Goans because Maharastra State wanted to
swallow Goa and by doing so it wanted to liquidate the presence on this Planet
of my beautiful Goa. My Goa then was well protected by the colonialist Portugal and
moreover the Portuguese government from Portugal treated Goan Christians,
Hindus and Muslims very well giving topmost priority for their life security
which is totally destroyed by the third rated Bharatis who are spread all over
Goa now and who are shouting at the top of their voices that they are Goans and
nobody can do anything to them. Withh
ths type of development in Goa, I ask one very pertinent question to Goans:
“WHAT IS OUR FUTURE IN GOA?"
The Maidan was named in Margao after him without even he stepping in
there and moreover his monument was erected there showing him giving his
speech. Is it right to elevate him to
that pedestal by ignoring his guide, mentor and guru in Goa, Dr. Menezes
without him Dr. Lohia would not be in
Goa? Why the contribution of Dr. Menezes ignored? Was it a conspiracy to downplay the contribution of Goan Christians in Goa’s
freedom movement and maliciously to dub them as pro-Portuguese? It is to be
understood very well now that those Hindu fanatic Goans who have settled down
in Goa coming from the neighbouring Maharastra with total Marathi influence and
who were calling and abusing Goan Christians as supporters of Portugal
following the invasion of Goa by Bharat on 19th December 1961, were
some of the firsts to get the Portuguese Passports to go to Portugal and other
Western countries.
Many of the current Goan Hindus hate Goan Christians for getting
converted into Christianity but they fail to realize that the current generations
of Goan Christians are not responsible for what their forefathers given to them which according to me was the right decision.
