IS CANDOLIM PANCHAYAT PROMOTING CASINOS?

In Candolim at Dando, there is one big hotel having in its premises a Casino.  Since locals are objecting to this Casino, during the last Candolim Village Gram Sabah, concerned locals raised this issue for which the Panchayati authority replied saying that it is functioning illegally and necessary action will be taken to stop this Casino.

However, according to my latest information, this Casino is still functioning and that too legally with  all the licenses issued by all the legal authorities including the local.  Candolim Panchayat must clear this point, if I am wrong,  otherwise this issue will take a very serious turn for Candolim Panchayat.

According to my observation, Candolim Panchayat administration is not into the hands of upright persons and its ruling faction is owing its allegiance to the Congress Party because the main controller of this Panchayat thru remote control is one  strong Congressman who was an earlier legislator.  He is purely in a Congress culture acquired all the corrupt practices to amass wealth. There should be a CBI enquiry on his disproportionate  assets.  Being a Congressman he is well versed in collecting money thru dubious means from the people starting any project in Candolim.  If the project is not viable legally, he still allows the owner of the project to start with it but  later on demands extortion money to prevent from initiating legal action.  While these corrupt practices are going on, the local Panchayat keeps its mouth shut because as per my source the members of the ruling faction are paid their quota of bribe.

This is the trend in most of the Panchayats in Goa, devised by the corrupt Panchayati leaders.  Otherwise how till yesterday a man without proper source of income today becomes the owner of the fleet of most expensive cars and chains of hotels? On top of it, this crook politician to fool the masses calls himself  a member of the Bahujan Samaz.  Can a person from Bahujan Samaz afford to own such expensive Cars and Hotels?  These politicians to get elected equate themselves with the lowest class and lowest castes but once elected they act as highest class and highest castes.

As an extra information, one more Casino is likely to start in Candolim at Pintos Vaddo,  in the hotel owned  by the corrupt Congressman. In view of this, all the locals who are fighting for justice and clean life in our locality first and then in other parts of Goa, now only must start a campaign to demolish his chances of contesting 2017 election. Otherwise he will turn our locality into an open brothel and a corrupt sinful locality.

Yesterday, 20^th of this month, Tuesday, I saw the new Tiatro  of the well known writer-director Tomazinho Cardoso, at Kala Academy A/C Hall, at 7.00 PM.  The hall was packed to capacity and it was at noon itself that the all tickets sold situation declared.  This was something unimaginable but became imaginable only because of the name and fame of Tomazinho Cardoso as the best script writer and director having won laurels in this field innumerable times in the past.

I know Tomazinho Cardoso since very young age as a singer in the Church as a small boy, as a singer on the Stage in the local Tiatros especially Church orgnised ones and as a Tiatrist in my locality and elsewhere in Goa.  He is a versatile personality from very young age gifted with lot of specialities but Tiatro being his forte.  He is also a great Mandoist having won best prizes in the Mando Festival competitions in both the categories, original and traditional. Besides,  he was gifted with very good soccer talent which he displayed from very early age in Candolim and in ambient villages and also at Inter Collegiate tourneys.  He was a very good ball player with powerful left footer thru which he scored many goals. It was just a pleasure to play along with him.  If he had to concentrate a little more, he would easily walk into any of the then top clubs of Goa such  as Salgaocar, Dempo, Sesa, Shantilal and Vasco.  He was a very decent player on the field and a non - belligerent.

As a politician all knows his credentials and I need not further elaborate on this. But one thing I stress here is that during his long tenure as a Sarpanch he did not indulge in corruption and looting the village as it was done after him.  He served the village by acting upright without any sex or money scandal. He is a top bilingual writer and his writings are spread everywhere even in the form of books.

His Tiatro Viva London presented by Kala Mogi, Candolim raised the name of Candolim to the pedestal and it had a special class in itself in the sense it gives a very good lesson to those who blindly aspire for life in London and in the end suffer miseries.  Irene Cardoso carry maxim credit for playing the role of the mother, then comes Shivanand Naik as her son and then Selza Lopes as the British wife.  Comedy role was well played by Christopher.  The role played by Edwin as Panty was good but the statements exchanged on him referring to his name as Panty sounded a bit vulgar and unpalatable. It looked to be an undignified part of the otherwise dignified play by the dignified playwright.

The Side-Show songs were good but the duet rendered by Queeny with Akash  was worth admiring especially the way they rendered it with mellifluent voices.  The duet rendered by Joao Cardoso with Maria Cardoso was excellent so also the romantic solo of Maria Cardoso.  The duo of Tomazinho Cardoso with Luis was politically meaningful.

TIATRO "MOJA ANIM SOJA" BY ANIL PEDNECAR.

On 16^th of this month, at Kala Academy Hall, Panjim, at 7.00 PM, I saw the new Tiatro “”MOJA ANIM SOJA” written and directed by Anil Pednecar.  It was a presentation of Anil Olga production, Orda, Candolim for the 41^st Tiatro Competition “A” Group 2015-16.

Though it was not a house full attendance wise yet it was very well attended by the Tiatro goers who according to me enjoyed every bit of it since it generated powerful feelings for Goa, Goans and Goan causes.  The script was very well written describing how the third rated non-Goan Ghanttis and Migrants by befriending our young girls destroy Goans.  There is lot of truth in what Anil exposed in this Tiatro and since it is a reality happening in today’s Goa, I hope Anil will stage this Tiatro all over Goa to educate our parents and our young girls who blindly fall in love with any Challappa and Yallappa.

Anil deserves the highest accolades for playing an exceptionally good role of an Ice cream seller Ghantti. His language, actions and physical structure make him perfect in doing this role while his opposite Sonia does justice to her role as his girlfriend and lover.  Though it is possible yet it looks rather difficult to digest that such a nice looking Goan College girl in normal circumstances falling in love with such an ugly looking Ghantti who got not a single plus point in him to attract the young Goan College girl.

Chitra with her majestic personality performed the role of a mother extremely well and her dress code of wearing appropriate Sarees gave an added booster to her role. Opposite to her as her husband, D’Costa played a very good role.  His action of collapsing on the ground when he gets a shock of his life was extremely genuine.  It reminded me of the late Conception in "Doia" Tiatro in 1959 when Conception stole the whole show by doing similar action. In the comedy role, Sally did his normal best.

This Tiatro had original traditional touch in it in the sense that after every Poddo there was sufficient Side Show songs, appropriate Cantos and comedy part was linked with the main story. However, if the director had to introduce one sorrowful Canto for the father and mother while they are forced to leave their own house by their Ghantti son-in-law, it would give an added impetus to the play.

In the Side Show songs, all the singers rendered their songs well but more credit should go to Ani-Olga duet “Cheddvam Tiatrani”, Fermin and his smart partner singer Assumpta for their duet “Padrincher Hadd Uloinakant”, Elias’s solo “Putak Dotor Kor”, Baby girl Adila’s solo, Ron’s solo “Montri” and his duo with Andrew.

OPEN LETTER TO GOA BISHOP.

Everything is not going well in some of your Diocesan Schools. In my neighbourhood Diocesan School,  the school management under the supervision of the Church Pe. Vigar who is also the principal of the school, issued “Raffle” lists in aid of the projects of the Parish school.  Each list costs Rs. 210/- and these lists are distributed to collect the money thru the students.  Every student is given one list and even in one house where there are 2 or 3 students, each house will have to 2 or 3 lists in which case there will be an unbearable burden on every such house.

To collect this amount is not a joke; it is a big pressure not only on the young students but even on their parents. I know some children are crying at their homes in front of their parents to help them to collect the money and because of this unwanted burden on them some students are suffering from tension and mental stress.

The Goa Church headed by the Bishop House at Panjim Altinho is very rich and as such it can easily finance the School projects instead of exploiting the poor students thus giving our enemies an opportunity to defame Catholicism.  This whole business of the Raffle looks like extortion of money which is against the teaching of the Christ.  Besides, the said Church every Sunday collects about 40,000/- from the faithful.  From this collection the Diocesan school in my neighbourhood can easily finance the school project instead of begging with the aid of Raffle.   

Last year in a similar incident when one young girl approached one young boy to help her to collect the money for her Raffle list, the boy replied thus “if you allow me to have sex with you then I will do the needful”.  These Raffles are become a source of mental stress, financial burden on poor students and their parents and a big source of sin for our young girls who in order to fulfill their obligations to make the Pe. Vigar/Principal happy are ready to do anything.  This has to be stopped otherwise Senhor Bishop and Senhor Gaumcho Pe. Vigar you both will be held responsible for any untoward incident happening because of this Raffle business.

 

The Village Pe. Vigar is not interested in anything other than collecting money by any means. This school was built thru the contribution and donation of the locals with Zero investment from the Church authorities.  Government is paying so much for this school including the Rent to the Church.  Where this money goes?  Concerned Church authorities has to answer to this query.

OPEN LETTER TO LUIIZIN FALEIRO.

When you took over the reins of Congress Party in Goa from your predecessor John Fernandes who otherwise was doing his best to rejuvenate Congress Party in Goa, everything looked rosy but sorry to say that your actions so far did not come up to our expectation. The next election is approaching very fast and Congress Party under your leadership so far has not indicated your planning done to  win the next election.

So far you have not indicated nor given any clue of your likely candidates contesting the next election.  You are still not clear on the fate of defeated candidates and old guards.  They must be replaced by all means with fresh and young ones and there are plenty of them under the Congress umbrella waiting for their chances. 

In my constituency we need a fresh Congress candidate and not the defeated one to  get another sure defeat. In my constituency if you do not field a fresh candidate then Congress Seat in my constituency will be R.I.P.  We as a group of political activists decided to work against any candidate imposed on us from Delhi and Panjim.  The supporters of Congress Party in our constituency should be taken into confidence when selecting the candidate. Our target will be the defeated candidates, old guards, revengeful and vindictive candidtes, bribe takers, looters and corrupt ones.  This time  Luizin Faleiro you will have to be very careful in selecting a candidate of Congress Party for our constituency.  And for God’s sake please stop using the terminology as “High Command” and “Madame Sonia Ghandi’s” instruction.  We don’t care your H.Command and waitress Sonia to teach us.  Ultimately we the voters are the bosses, give due respect to us to support you. It is we the voters who will elect the candidates and not your High Command and Low Command.

Please be ready to select the right candidates fast to allow them and their supporters to make the necessary preparations much in  advance. Last minute hurry will jeopardise the chances of good results and for this you alone will be held responsible.

FC GOA LOST MISERABLY.

Well  done Chennai  in defeating Goa today by 4 – 0 goals.  Though not exceptionally talented team, Chennai played more as a cohesive unit with accurate passing and finishing appropriately where the hat-trick hero Mendonza proved to be unstoppable in the opposition citadel.  Elano was the brain behind his team with distributing the ball to his colleagues very nicely and very cleverly. The goal he scored was just a superb piece of his cool temperament and accuracy. To sum up, Chennai outplayed their host in every department of the game thereby making mockery of the training methods of Zico who surely will have to devise better methods to move forward.

The whole weakness of Goa remained on their faulty defence especially right side thru which all the moves were initiated by Chennai attackers.  Brazilian Lucio was more responsible to feebly guarding his territory, he was very slow in his clearance even near the goalmouth.  In  the World Cup match he did such mistake and conceded an easy goal.  The other defender Gregory proved to be a pale shadow of his previous self.  These once big names have crossed their limit to produce exciting and interesting soccer, they are now a liability on their team.

The so called golden duo of Goans namely Mandan and Romeo were more like spectators, there was no killing insticts in them.  Romeo was not Vasco’s Andrew and Mandan was not Visitacao Lobo of Sesa Goa and as such both of them have failed to deliver the goods.  The only exciting move of Goa was the release of powerful right footer 15 minutes before the final blow by Reinaldo that hit the inside part of the pole and rebounded into the play. 

It was a pity that Goa could not take advantage of the home ground to get the maximum points to the chagrin of the vociferous home crowd.  Unless there is total change in the methods of play, Goa is bound to fail miserably with the type of soccer it dished ot today.

"BHARAT MUKTI MORCHA" MEETING.

BHARAT MUKTI MORCHA an all India organization looking after the interest of the common people to get justice for them, organized its Meeting on 8^th of this month at T.B. Cunha Hall, Panjim, at 3.30 PM with the attendance of hall-packed crowd where speakers after speakers voiced their disgust over the exploitation of the commoners by the top class of people.  Special mention was made over the recent unwarranted demolition of  Baina Huts of the migrants in a very cruel and inhuman manner to make way for the builders to construct their empires in the name of the promotion of tourism.

In his inaugural speech the firebrand stalwart of BMM, Mr. Sebastian Rodrigues condemned this inhuman demolition done in inhuman manner without having any human consideration for the inhabitants residing in their Huts there.  Every attendee in chorus condemned this demolition.

A.Veronica Fernandes also addressed this Meet and spoke on the exploitation of the common Goans by the top class and top caste Goans during the old regime in Goa where he made an statement saying that it was the Bamonn Bhattkarshai that harassed common Goans then and not the Portuguez.   The major enemy of the common Goans during the Portuguese regime was the Bamon Bhattkar class stated A. Veronica.  Then he added saying that Portuguez instead of 451 years should have stayed in Goa for 902 years but it was driven out early because of the arrogance and pride of Bamon Bhatkarshai who aligned more closely with the regime then. Further he said quoting some famous world revolutions where common people gained advantages, in Goa after the so called liberation of Goa, Bandodcar and his MGP devided the Goans on communal lines instead of class wise. Bandodcar ignored the Bahujan samaz from Christian community, for him only in Hindu community there existed Bahujan samaz, stated A. Veronica.

Yesterday, 8^th of this month, at 7.00 PM, I saw one of the all-time best  Tiatros staged at Kala Academy Hall, written and directed by the versatile director Mathias Mascharenhas and presented by Calangute Association, Calangute.  It was attended by the capacity attendees who enjoyed every bit of it. This was the competition Tiatro for the 41^st Tiatro Competition organized by the Kala Academy, Panjim.

 Why such Tiatros are not written by the current so called great professional Tiatrists?  This was the question posed by many among those who attended this Tiatro. Most of the present day professional directors are not full-fledged writer-directors, they get comedy from X comedian, Cantos from Y composer and the rest is borrowed or purchased from here and there.  There is nothing in their “Koplan”. In their Koplan there is “Kande & Botatte”.  In fact, what is in the “Konfran” of the directors of competition  it is not there even in the “Koplan” of the professional directors.

Mathias the recipient of the Best Tiatro Award last year’s competition, is multi-talented young man, besides being a very good script writer and director, he is a very good musician – a Trumpeter having his own band consisting of his two sons also and  a successful businessman.  In this Tiatro “Visvas Ghat” he shows yet again his speciality in the knowledge of Law as well as the story revolved around Law and Lawyers.  Since this Tiatro is going to be staged again, I desist from disclosing the contents and leave it to the audience to see it and enjoy it.  If necessary, Calangute Association must come forward and stage this Tiatro all over Goa for the people to enjoy the greatness of this Tiatro. Joseph Sequeira the stalwart of Calangute must ponder over this.

Both the Advocates (Ashwin D’Souza & Mathias) as father and son played their roles well.  The senior Advocate was at his best but he looked a bit younger, even in his dress code he looked like  a teenager.  Mathias depicted himself well by doing his role appropriately and the role played by Trupti Kerkar  as his wife was superb. Though the last scene unfolded the mystery yet it lacked some substance before Mathias shoots himself.  It would have been nice if he made a vocal statement why he commits a suicide as Valente Mascharenhas did  in C. Alvares’ masterpiece Tiatro “Patki Nhoi Ghatki” .  Otherwise the Tiatro was well enacted by all the artistes though One song after every “Poddo” was too little and the deficiency of appropriate Cantos was easily noticed. Mike system was not giving the required effect as some of the contents from the Stage were not well audible.

Side Show songs was well performed by singing nice songs by the youngsters Starcy Mesquita, Jovicia Sequeira & Jackylene, Valencia & Domnick Lobo and the tiny little girl Linoshka Mascarenhas. However  the major credit must surely go to the excellent Duo rendered by Salvador & Pascoal and  the beautiful Duet by Naqy & Domnick Pereira.  Since the death of C.Alvares, this is the first time I listen to such a high caliber duet. And the duo of Salvador and Pascoal de Calangute on London Goans was just a superb one.
