FOR "MANDO - DULPOD" LOVERS.
Tomorrow Thursday, 23rd October 2008, Colva United Centre Kuwait is organsing their annual festival of "Colva Fama" with a function at Fakher Al-Deen Palace, Kuwait City. The function will start at 8.30 pm. It will consist of variety of items and one of them is an original Mando followed by Dulpods. This item according to information will be the major attraction.
Today in the evening I had the previllege to witness the last rehearsal of this Mando - Dulpod and I was deeply impressed by the performers i.e., the singers and musician. The title of the Mando is "Colva Famank Mog Zalo" and it was composed by the well-known Colvakar and Singer Rosary Ferns. Besides Rosary Ferns, the other singers are Maria Rodrigues, Xavier Lobo, Debora Lobo, Bab Agnelo and Clara Rodrigues.
When I watched them today practicing, I found the female singers exceptionally talented, they beautify the Mando with their melifluent voices. It reminds me of the talented singers once performing at Mando Festivals in late sixties and early seventies in Goa. I was impressed to know that such a rich talent is available amongst us in Kuwait. The musical score provided by Richard Rodrigues is worth admiring.
Thru these few lines I advise all the Mando lovers like me in Kuwait, if they want to listen to good Mando, both in lyrics as well as in music, singing and dress code, they should not miss this opportunity tomorrow for Colva United Centre function to watch this Mando folllowed by Dulpods. This my advise goes only to the real Mando lovers and Mando admirers.

I was shocked to hear this news, Leo was my good friend and college (Bhavans/MVLU) mate as well as the college hockey team mate, we had many a good times together when in Bombay, used to meet him in Kuwait when I used to go there as an AI Crew member.
As we moved to New Zealand our contact got a bit less, last met him in Mumbai in 2005.
We convey our deepest condolences to his wife Bernie, daughters Leona and Linda also to his sister Trinidade and family.
May his soul rest in peace.
