Who is a Naxalite ?
Our security men ambushed and massacred by Maoists, is a pungent reminder that “all izzz not well” with our internal security and it’s intelligence Agencies. More than 75 of our servicemen lost their lives, realistically precious lives wasted. Who is responsible for this blood bath ? And the million dollar question is, how long will this be allowed to go on ?
It is indeed very frightening to note that, if we are ill-equipped to tackle internal insurgencies, how are we going to take care of cross border terrorism ? If we see Indian as a nation, celebrating more than six decades of freedom, we have evolved and grown into an economic power, but the pitiful irony is, our homeland security has failed miserably, insurgencies and skirmishes up North have never really slowed down, nor the perpetrations on the eastern border, 26/11 has shown us that we could be sitting ducks for mercenaries from the west coast at will. Thank God the LTTE is finished or we could have had another possibility, like the assassination of our late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. If we take an overall view of India’s security, it sucks !
Security is an universal necessity, a fundamental requisition for existence. It is applicable to us in each and every sphere of life. The aspect of security is tied in with most of what we do or wherever we go. Life without security puts us in bondage, our confidence is shaken, our approach falters, our movements curtailed, our performance jeopardized and we tend to become lonesome and loathsome and above all development remains stagnant, the wheels of fortune stop rolling.
Security should be a priority, and should be handled with tact and finesse to get to the root of the causes of these upheavals, as more often than not these issues are politically motivated, supported and financed by selfish politicians. More than the porous borders of our frontiers, our civic bodies have to take-on these anti-national elements and render them harmless.
In Goa itself we have seen how criminals and anti social elements are patronised by our political elite, the nexus between the criminal, the politicians and the police have surfaced umpteen number of times. Our civic authorities turning a blind eye to the atrocities committed by politicians and their goons, some even have had the audacity to attack police stations, and become ministers, this surely eroded the credibility of politics in Goa.
Serial killers have been acquitted of murders, because of our bungling civic authorities, the people involved in the swords case are roaming freely because they are protected by our politicians, so are the people behind the bomb attack. People who fight for their right to survive are intimidated, put behind bars and termed naxalites and the true naxalites are patronised by our politicians. So who is a naxalite ? A Goan social activist or the Goan Politician ? Are we well and truly secure in Goa ?
