BOYCOTT EDWARD FALEIRO.
According to the latest information, NRI Commissioner Eduardo Faleiro is visiting former Portuguese colony Mozambique where there are many Goans settled. African Mozambique was like Goa a Portuguese colony but not till 1961 but till somewhere 1976 where it got independence from the Portuguese when Portugal itself was freed from its own dictatorial Government. Portugal till 1976 was ruled by dictatorial Salazarist system, first by Salazar and after him by Marcelo Caetano. But once this system was overthrown by the home people, the new Government gave freedom to its colonies namely Angola and Mozambique. The local Mocambiqan were fighting for long against the Salazarist regime to get them freedom, even Goans settled in Mozambique were as Salazarist recruits in Portuguese Government of Mozambique were fighting against the local freedom fighters under FRELIMO and others and so many of our youthful Goans were killed in this war. Mozambique is a rich country in natural resources and it’s the then capital Lourenco Marquis was considered as one of the best tourist spots in the world, its natural beauty attracted tourists from all around the globe. So much so, impressed by its beauty, one of the senior tiatrists of Goa after visiting it during the Portuguese era in Goa even composed a beautiful romantic song named “Lourenco Marquis” and it continued thus “kitlo sobit to gaum, polloun pisso zalom aum” etc.
After its independence, Lourenco Marquis was rechristened as Maputo where there are many Goans absorbed in employment and business, some are already married to the locals and well settled with deep integration in the local culture, tradition and history. Though they are well settled there yet they have great love for Goa and their houses and properties. Though official language there is Portuguese and everyone speak this language yet many Goans especially the elders in their midst still talk Konkani and even organized their tiatros occasionally though younger generation have created a distance between them and Konkani. But they still feel proud to be called as “Goes. Eduardo Faleiro will be there very shortly. By virtue of being a NRI Commissioner, Faleiro is enjoying the rank of a Cabinet Minister in Goa and with enormous public money at his disposal he will spend some days there. Doing what? And what can he do? What is he capable of achieving there for the Goans settled there?
Dear Mocambiqan Goans, don’t rely on Faleiro for anything. He is incapable of doing anything for you. His trip to Maputo will be only as sight seeing at the cost of poor Goan taxpayers. Don’t support him; he is wasting public money for his nonsensical trips to Africa. He will speak fluently in Portuguese and will give an impression to you that he is fully for you. But don’t believe him. Whatever you ask and say he will nod his head in agreement but once he is back in Goa he will show you his “konko”. I am sure he must be having somebody of his there whom he will give one of the next year’s NRI awards. He will select only the best “Rostad” for this award because “Rostad” selects “Rostad” only. This year he has given NRI awards to some of the best “Rostad”. I call them Rostad because without being eligible and without being deserving these "Rostad" have accepted these awards shamelessly. They should have turned down these awards saying “No Edward, please, I don’t deserve this because I have not done anything much that deserve this award”. But to say so, one has to be the real son of his real father. Rostad will never say so because they are crooks and cunnings, these are the real qualities of "Rostad", for this reasons they are called "Rostad" and not trusted by good people in society. This is the reason why "Rostad" are not trusted in legitimate society. Eduardo Faleiro like such people only and Goa Government is making a big mistake by giving him a free hand to use his powers the way he wants. Opposition parties are also silent because they are more occupied in home politics, they are not interested in expatriate Goans politics. Even during the invasion of Kuwait, when we organized our movement in support of Kuwait neither Goa Government under PDA nor opposition parties supported us. Our affairs were irrelevant for them. They were better occupied in their affairs only.
On whose advice Edward Faleiro selected some of the awardees from Gulf still nobody knows. Edward Faleiro cannot make NRI Forum as if it is his “Xepaicho Fath”. And the undeserving recipients cannot blame their critics for criticizing them for receiving these awards undeservingly. The criticism so far aired is just a tip of an iceberg. The undeserving "Rostad" NRI awardees will be stripped further till they accept their folly of accepting NRI awards undeservingly. The "Rostad" NRI awardees are full of faults not only in public life but even in their personal and private life. They should not be allowed to "Mezailem Kellem Kaddun Saguad zoddpak". Once you receive these awards you become a public property for public to comment either good or bad. If anybody is unable to bear this genuine criticism, then he should surrender his award. This debate will not easily stop here. It will remain for posterity to comment because of the guilty recipients. I am surprised how “Redde & Padde” fighting amidst us but share the same platform during the NRI prize distribution ceremony. These are shameless people, they have no category. They fall under the "below category line".
Now, my request to Mozambiqan Goans to be alert and if possible do not associate with Eduardo Faleiro when he comes there. The Goa based politicians are crooks of first grade. His coming there will be nothing but a waste of public money. Don’t support him there in Mozambique. Boycott him. His coming there will surely have some ulterior motove for his own benefits and not for the benefits of Goans there. He is making a mess of NRI Forum. My Goan brothers and sisters in Mozambique, support us in supporting Goan causes genuinely by boycotting Edward Faleiro. Supporting Edward Faleiro is like supporting crooks and traitors. We dont want such crooks and traitors amidst us. The real Goans are not crooks and traitors.
