It is almost a week now
since as alleged, Fr. Bismark was murdered and still there is no sign of any
arrest of any suspect. It is the duty of
the BJP government to track the culprits and bring them to justice otherwise BJP will have stiff time to
convince the people of Goa to support BJP.
The issue of Fr. Bismark and the lethargic attitude of BJP government in
arresting the murderers will surely create a very strong negative effect on BJP
chances to get re-elected.
It is surprising till
today there was total silence of the government of Goa on this murder of the
great son of Goa protecting the mother earth and the environment of Goa. Similarly there was total silence of the
opposition Congress party, so too of the leadership of Goa Church. Their silence on this murder is very disturbing
making us to believe that they are all supporting directly or indirectly the
liquidation of Fr. Bismark.
I have a feeling that
if there is no extraordinary pressure on BJP government to solve this murder
immediately then this issue will dilute and will as per the wishes of Goa
government automatically die a slow death just as it happened to Cipriano
Fernandes’ case where he was tortured to death in the police custody. Since then this case is forgotten.
The life of writers and
activists is become very dangerous; some
years back we know how one editor of local daily was assaulted because of his bold pen.
Then we also know how one prominent lawyer activist in the city was assaulted
by the goons for taking up issues of public concerns. And now we saw how Fr. Bismark was liquidated
by the elements who are eager to destroy Goa’s ecology.
It is now imperative
for all the writers, journalists, activists and intellectuals to come under one
banner and come on to the streets of Goa to force Goa government to solve the
murder of Fr. Bismark. We cannot ignore this
issue unless we want the situation as ‘AIZ MAKA – FALEAM TUKA".
