ADVICE TO NAVELKAR & OTHER VOTERS IN GOA.

Immediately following his Fast, Anna Hazare declared his intention to bring about changes in electoral laws making it difficult for corrupt people to contest the elections. It is going to be a very good proposal needing strong all round support. More than anywhere in India, Goa needs such electoral reforms first because most of the Goan rascals are taking advantage of the laxity in election laws, contest the elections with the help of ill gotten wealth and “goonda” power and finally attain the level of artificial Maharajas – Sheikhs and Kings by being elected representatives. This has to be stopped by the vigilant and alert voters in the next election by being very selective when casting their votes. The coming election looks like the last chance for the Goans to elect the right candidates and reject the rogues and rascals and thereby save Goa from total collapse for real Goans and for our next generation. Current Goan politicians are not interested in saving Goa for Goans, they are interested only in looting Goa and Goans and to enjoy Goa’s wealth for themselves otherwise meant for all Goans. They are shameless creatures, worst than prostitutes, robbers of Goa’s wealth.

Navelim is a very renowned locality made renowned in Goa, in India and elsewhere in Europe by its great son, Dr. Francis Luis Gomes. Dr. Gomes made Europe recognise greatness of political genius of Goans in general and of Navelkars in particulars thru his debates and discourses in Portugal and France where people admired him for his genius. By sending him to Portuguese Parliament as a representative of Goa, Goans of that era made Navelkars very proud of their son because in him the voters found an appropriate person. But what we see in Navelim now is killing the legacy laid down by Dr. Gomes and thus Navelkars bring very bad name for them and for their locality by electing corrupt representatives who care nothing for the good of Goa and Goans.

Not a single elected representative now a days Navelkars elect rightly. Luizinho Faleiro is a selfish person. After his very deserving defeat from Churchill Alemao in the last election he totally disappeared from Navelim and suddenly after years in Limbo, resurfaced recently to make his presence felt for the coming election. By this attitude he showed that his politics is only for selfish gains and not on ideological grounds. A person who fights a battle on ideological grounds he never accepts defeat and never retires from active participation in his fight, these are the real qualities of the real leaders. Luiznho Faleiro after his last defeat totally left his constituency and constituents to the mercy of his opponents - the Winner and his gang who exploited and harassed a lot the supporters of Luizinho, if not directly then at least indirectly while Luizinho went for Honey Moon to Delhi and to North India. Knowing the third class mentality of our politicians the Winners and their groups first go for taking revenge on those who opposed them in the elections and this was what has happened in Navelim for those who voted for Luizinho Faleiro because Luizinho made them as Lambs in front of the Lion by totally withdrawing from the scene like a coward. If Luizinho Faleiro was good and strong leader he would stand by his electorate in loss also. In the next election Navelim voters must think carefully on this crucial point while supporting Luizinho Faleiro. Navelkars must make Luizinho Faleiro not to consider them as “F-A-L = NAL”.

Churchill Alemao elected from Navelim took his voters for granted by changing his stand and party once he got elected, without taking permission of his voters. This is his habit which is very bad. When his voters elected him from Save Goa Party it was his duty to remain in this party only and not to jump into Congress for his personal gains. Navelim constituents while electing him they gave a mandate to Churchill to oppose Congress and not to flirt like a “Pamprel” with Congress. Defecting from one party to another party means corrupting ones political stand. Defecting from one party to another for selfih gains means robbery which is tantamount to robbing the trust of the voters. This is what Churchill does by considering himself as medieval king who could do anything for his subjects. Like Surrogate Mother, Churchill gets a rental womb from one party to get himself elected and after getting elected, he goes the way he wants even robbing the contract of surrogacy. This shows how stubborn is he towards the choice of his voters whom he consider as “Ghantta Boil”. And by the way, aren’t they? If not, they would have opposed his defection to Congress and revolted against his deserting of Save Goa Party.

It is not one Churchill Alemao we have in Goa, like him we have plenty whom we have to control and restrict their moves of defecting. Before the election and during the election campaign in Navelim and elsewhere voters in unison must demand from Churchill and his likes in Goa an OPEN undertaking in whatever legal form that they will not change their parties once they are elected. Let Churchill Alemao know that Navelim is not a surrogate mother to rent her womb to bear a child. Navelim should not be made a rental place for Churchill Alemao to get elected from one party and then change this party to suit his selfish needs.

If Navelkars are real Navelkars and if they are real sons and real daughters of their real fathers and also if they are proud of the legacy of great Navelkar politician Dr. Francisco Luis Gomes, they will control every move of Churchill Alemao in the coming election and also after the election. So also others elsewhere in Goa where such Churchill Alemaos are existing and who are responsible for the all round corruption in Goa. An elected representative must be an slave of his voters and not a master of his voters who got him elected. In such a situation he must only follow the terms of his voters, the terms on which he is elected. Navelkars must not allow Churchill and his likes in Goa to say “Voters Boslet Mojea Konkear” once they are elected.

Original Churchill Alemao was a nice person, kind hearted who loved Goan causes and who valiantly fought for Konkani even by putting his life into danger from Rane’s police. In act because of Konkani the entire Alemao clan faced persecution from Rane government. Their sacrifices for the cause of Konkani will remain ingrained in the history of Konkani. Because of these sacrifices we Kuwaitkars brought Churchill Alemao to Kuwait for Rex de Bardez Tiatro as a chief guest before the invasion of Kuwait. During his stay in Kuwait for a few days he was welcomed like a hero by every segment of Goan community as a mark of gratitude for his fight for the cause of Konkani. Such a welcome he never received during his later on visits to Kuwait because later on he got himself corrupted. This is the big tragedy since we the genuine Goa lover Goans had high hopes in him to support our causes. He betrayed us with a Judas Kiss by embracing anti-Konkani, anti-Goan Party MGP while forming PDF Government. Since then he lost his originality and credibility.

Currently Churchill Alemao lost all his former grandeur in favour of Goa and Goan causes. Now he reached to such a state that he is no more the original Churchill Alemao and regretfully he does not care about it either. I was always expecting him to serve Goa and Goan interest but he is a different Churchill Alemao now, full of selfishness, anger, defiance and revenge. All these attributes at any moment will lead him to his downfall which in reality I don’t want to happen because I still like his original self. I only pray to God to give him wisdom to change his style of working in a true Christian manner. A leader does not survive with the support of Muscle Power and Money Power only. Besides these two Powers, a leader needs God’s Power also. God give his wisdomatic power only to the upright person as He gave to King Solomon. Dayananda Bandodkar was boasting of his Power from this earth but in the absence of God’s Power he disappeared from this planet like ether.

During the Anna Hazare fast in Delhi, a group was formed in Navelim to fight against corruption, their photo is published here. This group must fight against defection of Churchill Alemao from one party to another. This group must try to control all the erratic moves of Churchill Alemao because one wrong move from Navelim leads to destruction of all over Goa. Those who are fighting for justice in the name of Anna Hazare should give a proper lead in right direction. And Navelkars in Kuwait must also support incorrupt candidates in their constituency in the coming election.

NON RESIDENT GOANS EXPECT ACTION & NOT MORE CONVENTIONS.

NON RESIDENT GOANS EXPECT ACTION & NOT MORE CONVENTIONS

We all know the issues that concern our fellow Goans living in other
states across India and overseas. Over the years there have been so
many Goan Conventions that have deliberated thread bare issues
concerning Goa and related to Non-Resident Goans. There has been
enough of talking and posturing. What we now need is some action on
the part of the government to redress the concerns and grievances of
Goans living outside Goa.

After years of service outside Goa or abroad many Non Resident Goans
(NRG) long to settle in the land of their birth. But for many reasons
they get disheartened and give up. Many Goans feel the urge to
contribute towards shaping the future of Goa but the authorities must
encourage them to return and invest their skills and savings in the
land of their roots. But the high level of corruption in Goa is
something every NRG detests. So a war on corruption by the Government
of Goa could be the starting point in laying the red carpet for NRGs.

In March 2006 Mr. Eduardo Faleiro got himself appointed as Goa’s
Commissioner for NRI Affairs with cabinet status. Why was there a need
to drain the State exchequer with a cabinet status? By virtue of his
cabinet status Mr. Faleiro now has 11 staff at his disposal. These
include four peons and a driver who work at his residence in Raia. The
Government of Goa is also paying the salary of one Mr. Amit Sharma who
is Mr. Faleiro’s clerk based at Delhi. Besides the 11 staff that are
employed by Mr. Faleiro, the Director of NRI Affairs, Mr. Ulhas Kamat
(a post officially yet not created) and his two clerks are also being
paid by the State treasury. There is no doubt that Goa needs a NRG
(non-resident Goan) cell to act as an interface to resolve the
grievances of the NRG’s across the world. An efficient Director with
two or three dynamic and pro-active staff is all that was needed.

The 2007 Goan Convention organized by Mr. Eduardo Faleiro at a 5 star
hotel at Dona Paula cost the tax year almost Rs 40 lakhs. As a
registered delegate at that Convention I did attempt to raise the
issue of the Regional plan and illegal mining. Mr. Faleiro however
summoned the police and asked me to leave which I did after seeking a
refund of the delegate fee I had paid. I felt that the convention
needed to deliberate the anti-Goa, anti-people and an anti-environment
Regional Plan. I was of the opinion that the non resident Goans should
be concerned about the destruction of the fragile ecosystem in the
green belt surrounding our urban areas that was slowly turning into a
concrete jungle. It was my concern that the new Regional Plan would
open the floodgates of uncontrolled migration into Goa from the rest
of India and that Goans would literally end up a dying breed. But Mr.
Faleiro acted very high-handedly and gagged any further debate.

Mr. Eduardo Faleiro has held Goan Conventions in Lisbon, Toronto,
Oman, Kuwait and this year the feast was at London. Mr. Faleiro owes
us an explanation as to what concrete benefit these State sponsored
conventions have yielded besides being an astronomical burden to the
Goan taxpayer.

It is time the Goa government realizes that some concrete positive
action and not more extravagant Goan conventions is the need of the
hour. There is no point draining the state exchequer by way of these
farcical conventions with no clear agenda and only merry making at
public cost. Whether the bill is footed by the State, Central
Government or the High Commissions overseas, it all takes a toll on
the tax payer. Goa cannot afford this hospitality. These
State-sponsored fiestas by way of Goan Conventions cannot continue
forever. There is no need to hold these annual conclaves. That money
needs to be spent to make Goa a better place to live in.

The modern NRGs are far more professional, skilled, articulate,
motivated, caring and affluent than the previous generation. They have
an empathy towards Goa and regard it more than just another holiday
destination. These sentiments have to be tapped by the Government with
the aim of seeking mutual benefit. All too often the Government is out
to exploit and fleece them. The bureaucratic processes endemic to
Indian methodology puts off many Non Residents from investing locally.

NRG’s also feel that the prospects of a good education in Goa for
their children are bleak and that is something the Government ought to
focus on. Good hospitals and quality professional educational
institutions are something Goa so dearly needs. Overall, if Goa’s
infrastructure is improved this will motivate many NRGs to come back
and set up shop in the place that is so dear to them. But like in
other States of India, politicians have their fingers in every pie,
and nothing runs professionally or free from political interference.

In recent years many Goan politicians have made overseas trips,
ostensibly to study projects abroad. It was expected that they would
bring home some ideas to improve things here. Unfortunately, these
trips at the taxpayer expense are in reality shopping and sightseeing
junkets for our ever so greedy politicians. Who can blame the NRGs
from despising our politicians after witnessing them in action abroad?

There are many former politicians in Goa who just can’s stop living at
the State expense. Mr. Eduardo Faleiro is one of them. They just
scramble for a position so that they can enjoy the perks and
privileges that come with the job. It is very evident that the affairs
at the office of the NRI Commissioner lack accountability and
transparency. It is always Eduardo Faleiro’s way ‘or the Highway’. So
many good officers have refused to work under him. Perhaps the
Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) should scrutinize the
affairs of the NRI cell over the last five years.

I can only sympathise with Goa’s Aam Aadmi. It is an irony that Goa is
hosting India’s highest paid Advocate General Mr. Subodh Kantak and
also has an NRI Commissioner whose expenses over the last five years
has caused a huge debt to the public exchequer.
