OH SAXTTIKARS!! SAVE GOA FROM CORRUPT POLITICIANS.

In Goa, the biggest politician rascals are located in Salcette. Once upon a time, Salcette politicians have helped the good causes of Goa and for doing so they even had to face lot of troubles for themselves. But now many of the Salcette politicians are on war footing to loot and to destroy Goa. They don’t care for anything, not even for their religious principles; they are shameless creatures of this planet. And worst part of it all is this that they are backed and supportred by their respective voters blindly. Gone were the days when Salcette voters elected good candidates to take care not only of Salcette but also of Goa. But now Salcette voters are electing corrupt candidates to destroy Goa. Most of the current voters are become "chamchas" of the political heavyweights who exploit every weakness of their voters to induce them to vote for them blindly, of course bribingly.

Goa in the past was saved from disaster by our Saxttikars whose contributions during the Opinion Poll and Language agitation were really worth admiring. From Kuwait I salute them all for their good work. But will they act upright now in the coming election or will they elect the same corrupt people to liquidate Goa and genuine Goans from our soil?

The late premier of Pakistan Zulfikar Ali Bhutto when he was in prison waiting for the gallows, wrote a masterpiece titled "IF I AM ASSASSINATED" where he made the following bold statement against those who perpetrated this gallows on him:

My sons will not be my sons, they will be Bastards if they dont take the revenge on those who are sending me to the gallows. Who are my sons? Shanawaz and Murtaza Bhutto and all the sons of Pakistan are my sons".

Thru this bold statement, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto encouraged his own sons first and all the sons of Pakistan to teach a very good lesson to his opponents headed by General Zia. And in fact, they all tought a very good lesson to Zen Zia and his government.

Similarly I call upon the Saxttikars now, if they are real sons and daughters of real Saxttikar fathers, they will teach a very good lesson to all the corrupt candidates by defeating them in the coming election. It is these corrupt Saxttikar politicians who brought a bad name to Salcette and disgraced Goa as well. If Goa is going to be saved for our future generation then Saxttiakar voters will have to be very strong against all the corrupt strong candidates of Salcette. In fact I have full confidence that Salcette voters will throw out the same old corrupt faces in the next election. In doing so they will lose nothing because by electing them again they will gain nothing for them either. The corrupt elected people will do good only for their own family members who are the major beneficiaries of the election.

According to the latest information, purchasing of votes in Navelim, Colva, Benaulim, Nuvem and other places has already been started. In this connection I advise the people in the words of the late Dr. Jack Sequeira, "If money is given for votes, please accept it and enjoy it but never vote for the candidates who gives you money". It is robbed and looted moneny from the public.

If yesterday Goa was saved it was only because of the efforts of Saxttikars and if it is going to be saved tomorrow and for the future, it will be only by the uncorrpt and upright Saxttikars. Hence, all my Saxttikar voters, elect new faces and destroy corrupt old faces.

NAVELKARS MUST CONTROL CHURCHILL'S POLITICAL DADAGERI.

Among all the Goan politicians Churchill Alemao is the most compassionate and the most aggressive politician. To fulfil his ambition he will go to any extent. When he was denied a berth by Rane in his ministry in late eighties, he alongwith his rebel colleagues including Mauwin Godinho piloted the defection, overthrew Rane Government and formed PDF Government under his leadership first for a few days and later on handing the leadership baton over to Dr. Proto Barbosa. Churchill Alemao was not a genuine congressman, now he is in congress house only for his own convenience. In the last election he got elected on ticket from anti-congress party and defeated congressman Luizinho Faleiro. But true to his original self he betrayed his own party on whose ticket he got elected and jumped into congress party with a prize catch of PWD portfolio. This ministry is the most lucrative ministry to make fast and vast money, of course illicitly without any shame either for one’s conscience nor for one’s religious doctrine. For this reason everyone is eying on this ministry.

Churchill Alemao has got one very bad habit to say "to hell with you, with your party and with your system, I will do whatever I want to do to get what I want". In view of this if he gets elected in the coming election though insiders are doubtful of his victory because Navelkars are hell bent to teach him a very good lesson on 3rd March because of his arrogance, what guaranty is there he will not repeat his old dirty habit of defection? The name Churchill Alemao is synonym with political arrogance and defection. Because of his defection habits for his personal gains the political life in Goa is become corrupt which affects the entire Goa. Churchill Alemao’s habits are bad of changing his party once he gets elected but the habits of his voters are worst by electing him inspite of his dirty habit of not being faithful to the party on whose ticket he gets elected.

Now a few days are remaining for the election. The great people of Navelim the decendents of the great Goan politician Dr. Francis Luis Gomes who shook Europe and Portugal Parliament by being the most upright politician, must get a full assurance from Churchill Alemao that this time he will not play the game of political prostitution. By acting like a political prostitute he brings bad name for his family members and commits a sin against his own religion. The constituents of Navelim mut rise and rise now only against his likely defection to any party that satisfies his political ambition.

In Kuwait the Navelkars are grouped under their Navelim banner, they have intelligent members who understand clean political game. They must also now raise their unified voice against Churchill’s dirty politics once he is elected. He should be accountable to the people of his constituency.

Likewise we have more Churchill Alemaos in Goa such as Biswajeet Rane, Monsurate and others. All the voters in such constituencies must also raise their voices in unison against changing of the party once they are elected. The dirty political games played by a few selfish politicians are destroying the political peace of Goa.
And Churchill's dirty political game creates adverse effect on Goa for which the voters from Navelim constituency in general and Navelim village in particular are responsible.

THE BJP IS NO ALTERNATIVE TO THE CONGRESS.

THE BJP IS NO ALTERNATIVE TO THE CONGRESS

By Aires Rodrigues

Politics and elections today are no longer a noble mission. It has become a business enterprise, in fact a form of private partnership where candidates invest to reap high dividends. The lust and crave to field your own family and friends, as close partners, has taken politics to a very new low.

MLA’s are elected to debate and legislate good laws for the State. That should have been their pivotal and only role. Unfortunately MLA’s have hijacked the day to day administration of the State. The bureaucracy has succumbed to political pressure by surrendering all their independence and are reduced to mere stooges of the politicians.

For the ensuing Assembly elections political parties have fielded some good and worthy candidates while there are some outstanding independent candidates like Rohan Khaunte in Porvorim, Avertano Furtado in Navelim and Tulio De Souza in Saligao who should be given an opportunity to prove their legislative skills. The people of Goa should ensure that those directly or indirectly connected with illegal mining should not be even in the zone of consideration. There couldn’t be a bigger crime than damaging Mother Nature just to amass those filthy crores.

The BJP is mistrusted and there may be reasons for it. The manner in which their own North Goa MP Mr. Sripad Naik was humiliated leaves much to ponder. If a senior leader like Sripad Naik was treated so shabbily and tossed away what hope is there for the ordinary workers.

If Sripad Naik could not get justice, no one within the local BJP will. As Opposition Leader, Mr. Manohar Parrikar has neither been aggressive nor consistent. Issues that should have been raised and highlighted by the Opposition have had to be pursued by ordinary citizens. Democratic functioning is a key to the prosperity and well being of any political party. Manohar Parrikar’s dictatorial, one who claims “I know everything”, which attitude has not changed nor will.

Over the last few years I had felt that the BJP may be an alternative to govern Goa. But after having been myself a witness of the party’s misconduct I can no longer vouch that.

At the Corporation of City of Panaji elections, last year, the BJP and its leader Manohar Parrikar in particular aggressively campaigned against me. Mr. Parrikar did not even care to heed the advice and request of many of his BJP MLA’s and other leaders who had requested him to support me.

I was expecting the BJP to back me, at least as a gesture for the open support I had given them over the years. In a way the CCP election was an opportunity for me to have a first hand experience of BJP’s true colors and its non-secular credentials.

Both the Congress and BJP are weighed down with their glaring misdeeds. So the way forward may be for Goans to select and elect the best candidate from those in the fray. If we can elect a batch of 40 good legislators, Goa may be able to move out from the current rot if finds itself submerged in. As political parties and their alliances are only concerned about themselves, it may be a good idea to vote for individuals for a change and give the political parties a break on 3rdMarch. Not voting on party lines but for the finest candidate may be the way to go.

DEFEAT THE CORRUPT ILLEGAL MINING POLITICIANS.

In Afghanistan there are folk tales which say that every inch of its land down below even below their houses contain gold, meaning minerals. In reality what these folk tales tell is genuinely true. An Afghani friend of mine told me once that his grand mother told him to take care of their house because "Ingrezi Lokh" meaning British colonialists will destroy it to extract gold meaning rich minerals from under their house. USA is well aware of this fact and for this reason it makes its presence felt there more firmly. To make its presence firm in Afghanistan USA is trying to fortify its stay there to prevent others from taking control of the rich minerals there. In order to hold its grip there USA is spending millions of dollars there and even losing innumerable lives of US citizens. This US does to protect its own interest.

In Goa our land is ful of minerals. Earlier these minerals were extracted from the mountains in Sircaim, Sanquelimg, Sanguem and many other places but later on and now this type of mineral extraction reached to non-mountainious places also and tomorrow it will reach to our cities and villages as well because almost every place in Goa you can get minerals. In 1958 a team of expert geologists from Germany were brought by Sesa Goa to study the presence of mineral ores in Goa and they said the existing Mines will fetch the mineral ores for another hundred years while other places in Goa will fetch lot of minerals if extraction is done there.

We have seen how illegal mining is being done in Goa by our politicians in non mountainuous places thereby destrying dwelling places and arable land of Goans. Very shortly this type of illegal mining will reach to our villages where the powerful mining lobby will even destroy our houses to extract mineral ores from below our homes also. While this is going on we will not be able to stop them because they will have strong political power at their disposal to defy our resistance. All the corrupt Goan politicians are involved in this illegal mining in Goa, their illegal activites are well noted by Shah Commission but because of political pressure from Congress High Command headed by Italian Sonia Gandhi, this report is not released. This was done to protect all the Congress corrupt politicians of Goa to allow them to contest the forthcming election unhindered.

When Portuguese were forced out of Goa in December 1961 they left hundred percent Goa intact but out of its hundred percent now what is left is only 25 percent while the remaining 75 percent is already looted by our Goan politicians. In order to save this rmaining 25 percent of Goa we will in the coming election have to defeat all the corrupt politicians otherwise with their political clout under their disposal they will commit all the 'Dadagiri" to control Goa as they want of course in a Hitlerian manner and we will have no power to stop them.

In view of what I said above, in the coming election we all should be assertive of our rights to throw out all the corrupt politicians especially the Congressmen who are involved in illegal mining in Goa. By doing illegal mining these corrupt congressmen amassing huge wealth for them and for their family members only. The Goan wealth meant for the larger number of Goan populace is devoured by a few Goan corrupt politicans.

A CHALLENGE TO GOAN CHRISTIAN VOTERS.

Election fewer has not reached to the expected level as it used to during the earlier periods though every Party and every candidate carry on with their activities either openly or clandestinely. Though overwhelming majority of Christians look at BJP with suspicion yet many feels Congress is more bad because of the all round corruption it meted out to Goa during the last so many years. Internally according to one source some very prominent Congressmen are silently supporting BJP candidates because these Congressmen were earlier part of Parrikar. For example Sardinha earlier formed his Government with the support of BJP and he according to some sources silently backing BJP. BJP according to many is enjoying goodwill of the masses comprising minorities. Even many elite class of Goans are lending their support to BJP. The base for BJP in Goa was increased when Parrikar openly acknowledged his folly of going against Christians and promised to give clean and upright governance to Goa once elected this time to power.

Even Church leaders are telling from the Altars and Pulpits to reject the corrupt candidates meaning all the congressmen who are involved in corruption. Yesterday there was a feast at Old Goa of "Milagrincho Piddeacho Furis". During the sermon the preacher in the strongly worded sermon against corrupt politicians commanded the congregations comprising thousands Not To Vote the corrupt same old faces. He said voting corrupt politicians back to power will be an Anti- Christian act and further added that the duty of a Christian is to vote for an upright and good candidate who is not looting Goa and Goans. Then he said to Vote is a Christian duty but to sell one's vote is an act which is against Christian doctrine. Such vote sellers will receive severe punishment from God while they are alive only.

The choice for Christians now is to be very judicious while casting their votes. The most corrupt and criminal contenders in this election are Chrisitians. They are Devils of first grade promoting the Kingdom of Devil in Goa. Christians are duty bound to vote them out and bring in new faces. By doing this Christians will lose nothing because by electing them earlier Christians have gained nothing. These elected politicians once elected will enrich themselves and also to their family members only while others stare to the sky disillusioned.

According to the preachers at Old Goa, if the same old corrupt politicians are re-elected then they will finish Goa for Goans and for the future generation of Goa. They will convert Goa into a brothel where these politicians will snatch our wives from our clutches for them to use. They will in one word destroy Goa. DO YOU GENUINE GOANS WANT THIS TO HAPPEN TO YOUR GOA?

Those who believe in St. Francis Xavier, must know one thing what He did when He addressed His first letter to the Portuguese authorities in Lisbon. Wrote He saying people in and around Old Goa are rampantly involved in illicit Sex. And now if He was alive He would write another letter saying Goan politicians are involved in excessive illicit Sex and they should be punished for this degradition of otherwise good moral life.

DECIDE WELL AND DECIDE FIRMLY UPRIGHT TO ELECT FIRMLY UPRIGHT AND GOOD CANDIDATES.

SUNNIM & MAZRAM WILL GET CONGRESS TICKETS IN NEXT ELECTION.

In an unprecedented move the Congress Party of once Italian Waitress in England and now Sonia Gandhi issued election tickets to some families, such as Alemaos, Musarados & Ranes. When one of the Congress stalwarts Mauwin Godinho showed his disapproval to this move of Congress to create family Raj in Goa, Godinho was reprimanded heavily. This proved how strong the Family Raj promoters are in control of Congress functioning in Goa. This is a big tragedy. In order to promote Lok Raj our elders fought against colonial power but instead we got Family Raj. Surely this will create Monarchical situation in Goa. It is going to be de facto monarchicial system. I pity my Goa because it is heading towards disaster.

These Family Raj promoter politicians are become so powerful in Goa that they got what they wanted and in the next general election they will be more powerful to dictate their terms and get whatever they want. In such situation I will not be surprised to know that these politically powerful families and promoters of family raj in Goa in the next election will demand election tickets from Congress High Command in Delhi for their Dogs and Cats. More so, I will not be surprised to know that these Dogs and Cats will get elected from the votes of their respective voters because our voters are become corrupt acting like "Ghantta Boil", they lost their sanity to think upright and to act upright. What a pity it is to see Goan voters have reached to such a slavish level!! And yet we call ourselves as advanced people.

Once the next government comes to power, what will be the bribing rate of government jobs in Goa?? Selling of government jobs openly and daringly of course shamelessly started with the advent of PDF government. Since then this trend of selling government jobs to the highest bidders is going on shamelessly in Goa and yet the Ministers are claiming to serve the people of Goa nicely. Goa is going to the Dogs. "Kholasis", Dish Washers, Rapists and corrupt politicians will never give good governance in Goa.

In the next election in 2017 we will not only have "Sunnim & Mazram" but we will have as contenders Non-Goans as well because they will by then have their voters whom we call "ghanttis". These Ghanttis who are are the supporters of many of the current contenders will teach a very good lesson to Goans. That will be the end of Goa.

CHURCH. PRIESTS AND POLITCS.

Fr. Bismark is one of the contestants in the forthcoming election in Goa. It is a rare occasion in Goa for a Roman Catholic priest to contest the election but it is not rare in the Catholic world. While supporting this move of Fr. Bismark to contest the election I have to mention here that earlier to fight against injustice Catholic priests in one country in South America took active part in the election process there and 5 priests got Cabinet Ranks in that government. All these 5 priests served well to eradicate in their land the curse of corruption and social injustice. Then on the advice of Pope Paul the VI they withdrew from the cabinet and retired into their full time priesthood.

Earlier to fight against the prevailing injustice in the society, again in one South American country one priest Fr. Torres in a rare incident removed his priestly Cassock, took a Gun and started pointing it towards the goons and thieves who were troubling him in his mission of looking after the young orphan boys. Priests then were not allowed to remove their Cassocks just as they were not allowed to take active part in politics. But due to necessity to fight against injustice prevailing in the society they had to resort to this method.

A few years back in Philippines the total revolution was brought with the lead given by Cardinal Sin. The then Pontiff Pope Paul VI in the initial stages was suspicious of Church in Philippines involving in politics directly but when he himself went to Manila and studied the whole unjust situation prevailing under their president Ferdinand Marcos, the Pontiff was happy with his Cardinal Sin. The Pontiff then said it is the duty of the local Church to fight for justice and Philippine Church demolished the rude 20 years rule of Marcos.

Some of the topmost Church leaders in the non-catholic denominations also took very active part in politics in their respective countries to fight against injustice, namely Bishop Desmond Toto in South Africa and Martin Luther King in USA.

Church is duty bound to fight against the corruption and injustice going on in Goa from the current Congress government. Congress is looting Goa, threatening many people who oppose their loot. Congressmen are acting like Kings and Maharajas by sucking the blood of the poor Goans. Government jobs are put on sale for the highest bidders thereby denying the poor the facilities of getting government employment thru merit without paying bribes. This is injustice and only Church and powerful Goan Church can fight this unjust corrupt system of Congress Raj in Goa.

What I am observing in Goa now in many Churches even at Old Goa, priests in their sermons started advising the people to vote only the uncorrupt candidates and not to those same old corrupt faces who are known to destroy Goa. People in Goa have realised the necessity of good candidates and some are come with slogans saying "communalism is less evil but corruption is more evil". Priest are also telling the congregation that accepting money for votes is a big Sin.

Though a few days are remaining for the election yet no clear picture is forthcoming. Anti Congress wave is sweeping in many of the Congress citadels. People are fed of Congress rule which is full of corruption. They are waiting to teach a very good lessons to many of the old Congress faces on the election day. The real reality will come to the fore only when the results are out.

Foreigners Not Allowed To Influence Voters

Foreigners Not Allowed To Influence Voters

I was shocked to see a British parliamentarian trying to influence voters in Goa. Does Mr Kieth Vaz hold duel citizenship ? Foreign nationals are not allowed to influence the out come of election in another country and it is against the UN mandate for foreigners to get involved in election of another country. Mr Kieth Vaz has crossed his political and civil borders and should be arrested for meddling with our election process as an outside force meddling with our internal politics.

It is no secret that Churchill Alemao and his family has had good relations with Mr. Kieth Vaz and may have hosted him at his residence in UK but family relations cannot be used to influence voters of another country. There in one very interesting common factor in the history of Kieth Vaz and that of Churchill Alemao, they both attract controversies like fleas to stale dead fish.

British MP Kieth was under investigation for a number of controversial issues, like the Iraqi Nadhmi Auchi extradition issue, Hinduja brothers passport issue, the solicitor Sarosh Zaiwalla case, demanding the banning of "Satanic Verses" in UK, the controversial statement in the IRA attack. In some of the above cases he was charged with taking bribes to facilitate work. Does that sound familiar ?

It is said that birds of the same feathers flock together so could be they are on the path of sharing strategies of how to hoodwink the general public both in Goa and UK. It is said that Kieth Vaz was born in Aden but his parents were of Goan origin who then settled in UK and thank God for that or we might have had another Churchill to deal with.

Of polls and unfulfilled manifestos

By Nisser Dias

Elections and party manifestoes seem to have become akin to stuck-records, which are played again and again. The only difference is poll stuck-record is played every four years, unless the governor cuts short the term by dissolving the assembly.

Almost two weeks from now we will be headed towards the polling booths to cast our ballot after having hearing the same political speeches and promises from almost the same people. The new entrants mostly try to rubbish the claims of the sitting candidates and dish out some more promises. However all the poll promises made by the candidates and political parties come with a rider. In case of a candidate (independent or otherwise) it is, “If you elect me” and in the case of a political parties, “If you elect us to power”.

During the run-up to the 2007 assembly polls Congress manifesto promised to preserve Goan culture, monuments, heritage, ecology and environment. In reality what we saw during the past five years of Congress rule was destruction of heritage, ecology and environment of the state.

The congress also boasted of providing government that would be people centric and development oriented. In stark contrast hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets to protest against the government’s anti-people policies. Height of heights was the fact that the author of the Congress manifesto for 2007 assembly election advocate Uday Bhembre himself took to the streets to protest against government’s decision to allow English as medium of instruction. Today advocate Bhembre is drafting the script for the downfall of the Congress with the help of BBSM.

Supreme Court lawyer and Union minister Kapil Sibal had unveiled the 2007 election manifesto in Goa during which he had said that the Congress’ vision for the next five years was to make ‘Golden Goa’ by 2012 as part of the golden jubilee celebration of its Liberation from the erstwhile Portuguese rule. Congress were elected to power and completed its entire term and what we have experienced during the last five years is destruction, degradation and gang rape of Goa.

BJP’s state manifesto was much brief as it just said if elected to power they would provide Goa centric governance and administration.

The most interesting manifesto was of the Save Goa Front – a fledgling regional party propped up to field defectors like Churchill Alemao. The strongman from Varca wanted to get back to state politics while he was the Member of Parliament and the reason was obvious, there is more money to be made here then at the centre.

Save Goa Front’s manifesto or rather Churchill’s manifesto was touching. However today it feels that it was cleverly crafted to pull wool over the eyes of the people. His manifesto spoke about:-

1) Recognition of Roman script in the official Language Act.

2) Scrapping of Mopa airport.

3) Scrapping of Expressway project.

4) Scrapping of regional plan 2011.

5) Scrapping of SEZ.

6) Solving Tourist taxi operators problem.

7) Administration reforms.

Besides this Save Goa Front manifesto spoke of Mediclain facilities for artistes attaining age of 55 years, girl child to be given Rs 25,000 without interest for a period of five years to facilitate marriage and no new industries to be allowed in Goa unless local youth were trained to suit job requirements and employment guarantee.

If on analyzing this manifesto after 5 years Churchill Alemao did not fulfil even one of his promises. What he achieved was to merge Save Goa Front with the Congress to make a forced entry into the cabinet. He failed to move the bill in the assembly to include Roman script in the Official Language Act. Now he claims he did could not muster support. Ironically he could muster support to save Education minister Babush Monserrate from being dropped from the cabinet after being caught at the Mumbai International Airport with huge amount of excess currency. He even threatened to topple the government if Mickky Pacheco was inducted into the cabinet.

He did not scrap airport at Mopa, it is just kept on hold. Then this same man who kept saying no to expressway throughout his campaign wanted 4-lanning of the national highway the moment he became the PWD minister. Regional Plan 2011 was scrapped earlier even before he became a minister in the Digambar Kamat led government. Today besides supporting the 2021 regional plan which is even more draconian, he is staunchly behind mega builders who had their construction plans approved under RP 2011. Worst still he has called Goans opposing mega housing projects as ‘squealing pigs’. SEZ were scrapped by the High Court due to the efforts of spirited individuals like Franky Monteiro and others.

If at all Churchill Alemao won the 2007 assembly election against Luizinho Faleiro from Navelim constituency (before delimitation) it was because there was anti incumbency wave against Faleiro, BJP transferred their votes to Churchill and third was tourist taxi operators and their family which constitutes a huge chuck were behind him. He promised to solve their problems but after 5 years being in power the impasse between tourist taxi operators and tour operators in south Goa still exists, which means Churchill did not work towards bringing a truce between the warring stake holders in the tourism industry.

Thus poll promises or manifestos be it of the national political parties, regional outfits or independent candidates are like baits. They dangle it like a carrot before the eyes of the gullible and vulnerable constituents and after they get elected or come to power forget about it.

After five long years we are facing elections again, Congress promises a transparent government again which they did not do during the last tenure, BJP is promising to clean up the mess of the Congress government and also bring in all round development without discrimination to any religion and Churchill Alemao is promising a sewerage plant in Benaulim constituency if only his daughter Valanka gets elected.

Is it not proper that the state and its people get what it deserves as a matter of right? Or should we continue to believe that political parties and candidates will fulfil their promises in the manifestos. I for one have stopped believing in manifestos. So at-least this time round let’s not fall prey to false promise in the manifestoes and cast our franchise for a change.

Why No Action Against Monserrate

IT raid's Velim Parish Priest, read the headline in the Goan news papers yesterday, the IT officers went through not only his personal belongings but asked him about the Church funds as well, even though they know that the Church funds are well documented and Audited and kept for public viewing at a given time. All this is acceptable if it is within the rule of law of the ED and should not be challenged or castigated for their actions. If there is a complaint then the law should take its course and if even a Priest is found guilty he should be punished as per the law like any other citizen, as nobody is or should be above and beyond the law, no matter who.

Having said that the rule of law should be uniform, as a democracy no one is above the law, but seeing the reports with proof, in the news papers in the last couple of days, it is hard to digest, why no action has been taken against the rogue Minister in the Kamat Government namely Babush Monserrate ? It certainly looks to be the case of elephants being allowed to trash the fields freely because of their size, while the poor rodent is set traps for its trespass.

The media is full of the news of the present Education Minister's escapades as the then TCP minister wherein only the official figure of his illegal income is reported to be around 26 crores, unofficial could be astronomical and the monkeys in the IT fail to raid his premises. Even the builders connected with the illegal funds were raided and surprisingly no action has been taken against the Minister himself. Is this Minister above the law ? Why should our politicians get away with corruption ?

The Catholic community is aggrieved by this bias disposition of the IT Authorities and should by all mean apologize to the Parish Priest of Velim and the Catholic community at large. If there is a problem there are ways to go about especially while dealing with sensitive issues, no doubt action should be taken against erring citizens but discretion certainly can a better part of valor and as reports suggest that no evidence was recovered against the Parish Priest so what was all the ruckus about ? Or was there a political inclination to the whole drama that was staged to discredit the Priest ?

Velim at the moment is politically unstable because of high levels of corruption, unemployment, the BC class not getting the benefits of BPL schemes, the fishing jetty issue and the fish processing project that the people of Velim object too and its common knowledge that the Priest was supporting the people's causes against the powers that be. In Goa our politicians, because of their money and political clout tend to get away with anything and everything and its high time that the people showed them who it is that gives them this power and for whose benefit they should use that power.

The IT Authorities should answer to the people of Goa for their irresponsible action against the Catholic Priest of Velim and for their inaction against the corrupt politicians. It is certainly obvious that the politicians, bureaucrats and the security services are hand in glove in supporting corruption and suppressing and harassing Goans at the behest of the powers that be.

I thing only a strong Lokpal Bill could be the answer to the tsunami of corruption that has engulfed us and as long as we have the same corrupt politicians in power we will never get the Lokpal Bill that will be worthy of its cause. Get rid of the present lot of corrupt politicians and elect good ones that will give us a strong Lokpal Bill.
