ADVOCATE GENERAL SHOULD NAME THOSE CORRUPT OFFICERS.

Advocate General of Goa Atmaram Nadkarni while addressing the Silverjubilee function of the Goa Public Service Commission recently stated that some officers in Goa’s bureaucracy were non functioning andcorrupt.

Unlike off the cuff reckless outbursts by politicians, as a responsible first law officer of the State, the Advocate General must  have made this statement only after having documentary proof of corruption against those officers. He has been the Advocate Generalfor over five months.

What steps has this government which had promised Zero tolerance against corruption taken to weed out those corrupt officers with an iron hand. In public interest it would be most appropriate for the Advocate General to reveal the names of the officers he says and knows are corrupt. Does it include the Director of Prosecution Shobha Dhumaskaragainst whom the Anti Corruption Branch has registered an F.I.R under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Despite that F.I.R, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has given her a second extension in service and a hefty pay hike too with retrospective effect from 2009. How does the Advocate General justify this? The government must Walk the Talk. Wehave been hearing too much of rhetoric.
