Yesterday, 14th
of this month, at Panjim Kala Academy Hall, at 3.45 PM. I watched the
recently released Konkani film “RAKHONDAR”, written, directed & produced by the well-known comedian
tiatrist John D’Silva. The attendance
was good but not to the capacity.
Though it was not a
lengthy film yet it gave a good message regarding the hardship Police force
faces from the ministers, especially when the son of the minister take the law
into his own hands to display his brute
“dadagiri” on the blind support of his minister father.
John D’Silva plays the
leading role of an upright Police Officer while Prince Jacob does the role of a
Traffic Policeman. There is no comedy
role for anyone and hence something looks missing. In the beginning the fight
shown between Prince Jacob and the minister's son lacked genuineness. The role of the Chief Minister played by Sucurro de Santa Cruz was laudable.
While watching this
film it reminded me of the yesteryears films namely Amchem Noxib and Nirmon and
their greatness in all respects. Will we ever get such films again? They were
produced by knowledgeable persons with the participation of the then gigantic
artistes, scripted by stalwarts with nice stories, nice songs, nice music and
excellent comedy. For this reason these
films are still sought after by the people.
