Most talked and most listened Konkani Album ever produced by anybody in Konkani world, is the recently released CD “Dogui Bodmas” produced by Colva villager and village Panch Mr. Calvert Gonsalves. Musical score was beautifully provided by music director Joaozinho D”souza and the instruments used are: Violin and Mandolin by Victor Da Costa; Drums by Jack Rebello & Aurvile Rodrigues; Rhythm & Lead Guitar by Chris Correia; Bass Guitar by Sergei Godinho; Keyboard by Rohan; Flute by Joaquim D’Souza and Trombone by Sammy Braganza.

This CD consists of 12 songs and they are all worth listening. No doubt they are all hard hitting on a Colva Church Priest and a Goa Minister supposed to be Mickey Pacheco exposing their corrupt way of life yet musical part of this CD is better than songs though they are excellently rendered and beautifully composed. One feels like not only listening minutely to the excellent lyrics but also the excellent musical part of it. Calvert Gonsalves who took one and a half year to complete this CD has done his job wonderfully well even though he was new to this trade and not a known tiatrist himself. According to my information gathered from here and there, over 50 thousand copies of this CD are already in circulation. Nobody in the past among the Goan tiatrists and singers managed to put into circulation such a colossal number. Some of the copies are voluntarily circulated by the interested persons to spread the gospel rendered in this CD.

The controversy generated into this CD is well known and because of this controversy, the importance and fame of this CD touched to the peak. When its sale was banned thru court order, (this ban has already been lifted by the superior court on 17.02.10), people’s curiosity aroused in this CD because “forbidden fruit is always tasty”. There are more songs in this CD touching the moral and corrupt life a Goa Government Minister. He is not only exposed on his misdeeds such as rapes, forcing sex on a 14 year girl, concubinage and sexual perversion but also disgraced beyond imagination. That he has not so far committed a suicide itself is a big mystery. But our Montris are always shameless. Listeners are more applauding the disgracing of the minister than scandalizing the priest. It is a lesson for all corrupt and sexually perverted priests, Ministers and MLA’s to be careful in future because the moment the politicians acquire the ministerial berth and political power, and priests their priestly robes, their first choice is illicit sex. There are many priests, MLA’s and Ministers doing this type of nonsense in Goa and Calvert Gonsalves is a good lesson for their misdeeds. In this respect Dogui Bodmas CD is very educative and informative for ignorant people to get lot of knowledge on the misdeeds of the people whom we wrongly revere.

The exposure of a priest in this CD is less than that of a Minister but what Calvert said in this CD of a Priest has so far nobody denied, so far nobody said the contents are false, not even the big boss at Altinho Panjim denied. The sanctity of the Church and credibility of the priests have been totally disgraced in this CD by highlighting the sexual life of a priest. That this Goa Bishop like a small “Potto” supporting such priests itself is a mystery. It is nicely disclosed how the priest got involved in sex scandal against his priestly vow of celibacy. It is not only this particular priest involved in such a scandal but there are innumerable priests involved in sex scandals in Goa, many of them made their concubines as their slaves. Adoring and respecting such priests knowing their dirty habits is a great injustice on Catholic faith, faithful should reject such priests otherwise their wrong doings will receive recognition from the faithfuls thereby allowing them to go scot free and finally disgrace Catholics. Non Catholic denominations are mushrooming in Goa only because of such Catholic priests who do not care for their respect nor for the religion they practice. This type of corruption among priests going on in Goa only because our “kalcho porcho potto” Bishop is inefficient like his predecessor. This “potto” will destroy Catholicsm in Goa if there is no control on him.

Last week, I had an opportunity to meet with Calvert Gonsalves along with his troupe including singers Osvi Viegas and Rosario de Benaulim, at Hotel Mandovi, Panaji where I discussed with him and his troupe the controversy surrounding this CD.

Calvert Gonsalves is from Colva and politically very conscious and looks very matured, he is the Panch from Colva Panchayat, this is his third term. That means he got very good following in his locality. He is an educated young man having done his schooling at an elite institute, at Mount Abu and graduating from Bombay University. He spent a few years in the Gulf doing business at Sharjah in UAE. It is thru his educational background he said that he learnt to fight against injustice to bring about positive changes in society, hence the production of CD Dogui Bodmas. To one of my queries he said he is an upright man and not cheated anyone. When I pointed out to him that some Colvakars in Kuwait are talking ill of him, he said some of them were the beneficiary of his assistance and still he said he will assist them in case they approach him for any help. On another question, he said there was no support of any sort from Churchill Alemao for him to produce CD Dogui Bodmas though he added that he maintained good rapport with Churchill. To another query, he said he was expecting some opposition to this CD but surely not the way it happened. Then he added, the people who came to destroy his house were Ghanttis hired by the minister who was scandalized in this CD.

It seems every hired Ghantti and every person who came to create rowdism at his house when his aged parents were inside was paid around 500 rupees by the minister. It looks to me with the excuse of the priest’s scandal, the minister got his revenge. Good that Calvert was not at home during that time otherwise they might have even killed him because Police were supporting the goondas hired by the Minister. For my further question, he said he accepted this confrontation as a challenge and he will fulfill this challenge by releasing shortly his Video CD showing the trouble created at his house by the hired goons of the Minister. Calvert said his forthcoming VCD will be very interesting, he is working on it now. In all probability, he may release it in the Gulf.

On those who vowed to boycott the singers participated in CD Dogui Bodmas, Calvert said they are all peanuts suffering from the same type of sins as that of Colva Priest and the minister. By boycotting my singers they are shielding themselves from the illicit sexual sins they are committing with their female artiste mistresses from their own troupes by cheating their wives. Then Osvi interrupted and vowed to expose them from the stage; for one tiatrist by exposing his illicit affairs of flirting with his female artiste concubine by cheating his innocent wife, this female artiste is acting like the owner of the troupe for this reason she expels whichever other female artistes she does not like, one such victim is in Kuwait. For Comedian “Pozddo”, Osvi said he will expose his sexually abusive actions of taking female artistes to a flat in Margao with the excuse of writing the drama. Respectable parents, husbands and brothers must stop their daughters, wives and sisters from associating with this once shepherd boy and the current Pozddo Comedian with full of filth in his tongue, he is a disgrace on the decency of Konkani stage. The other two according to Osvi are worst than Minister scandalized in the CD Dogui Bodmas. One of these two was guilty in Muscat for duping innumerable Goans of their hard earned money, for this reason he is not going to Muscat out of fear for his life. The fourth is also guilty of the sin of Fr. Diogo by keeping one of his female artistes as his concubine who was later on expelled by his wife. Those tiatrists who keep concubines by cheating their wives are real “Rostad Tiatrists”. And those who commit the sins of “Jose Rod” of boycotting their tiatrist colleagues are double “Rostad”.

When Kid Boxer in Bombay was arrested for singing anti-National song, the tiatrists fraternity in Bombay stood behind their colleague Kid Boxer while in Goa some tiatrists vowed to boycot those singers participated in Dogui Bodmas. This is a nice way to apply “Mosko” to Goa Church and Padris to market their shows thru Padris. God knows those tiatrists having their concubines must be supplying them to the priests and ministers to get material benefits. Those who vowed to boycot other tiatrists are intellectually bankrupt.
