BRAVO ROSARIO DE BENAULIM.
A few years back Calvert Gonsalves released his Konkani Audio CD titled “Dogui Bodmas”, if I am not mistaken. Immediately after its release there was furore all over Goa especially in Salcette which is the citadel of Calvert. All the songs from this CD were interesting, musical score was very beautiful and singers sang very well. The songs were piercing to the disgraceful priests and disgraceful politicians. Because of this piercing fury against Priests and Politicians and Ministers the fame of this CD reached to its zenith. Even judiciary had to intervene and those who were clamouring for Calvert’s blood finally had to eat a humble pie. The Church supported some useless Tiatrists demanded punishment for the singers who rendered songs in this CD, one of them was beautiful singer and composer Rosario de Benaulim. These good for nothing tiatrists thought that they were the Dadas in tiatro circle and owners of the tiatro industry. I pity them for inflating their value.
The good for nothing tiatrists issued a statement to boycott Rosario de Benaulim and others from acting in their Tiatros, that means no more tiatro for Rosario de Benaulim and his other colleagues in that CD. Some thought Rosario de Benaulim and others will be finished from the threats issued to them by their fellow tiatrists from the other side. But finally the threats became only empty slogans and this was proved when a few days back Rosario de Benaulim came to Kuwait, acted in one locally organized tiatro and thru his beautiful songs won the hearts of the Kuwaitkars. Instantly he became the darling of the crowd and some of those who wanted to punish him are rotting in Goa.
No only this, Rosario de Benaulim even released his new Audio CD “Bieam” (Seeds) and put it for sale in the Hall which was purchased in great number. Even in the Video Shops the sale of this Album is very encouraging. This CD consists of good songs sung by the well-known Goan tiatristes namely Minino Mario, Marcus Vaz, Ignatius de Xellvon, Xavier Gomes, Rosy Alvares and others besides Rosario de Benaulim.
Well done Rosario de Benaulim. Carry on with your good work on Konkani Stage. Kuwaitkars are waiting for you again in Kuwait.

G.O.A. MAROONS, CURTORCARES & REAL BETALBATIM WIN.
CURTORCARES, REAL BETALBATIM and GOA MAROONS WIN. SANTOS UNITED HOLD YRC RISING STARS in KIFF LEAGUE FOR 2012-2013
On the penultimate day amid chill and overcast weather conditions four matches were held of the ongoing KIFF League for the Late JP D’Mello Rolling Trophy on 23rd November 2012 at the MOH Sabah grounds in Shuwaikh, Kuwait.
In the first match of Curtorcares United took on United Goans Club. The first half was goalless, but in the second half Curtorcares United came alive and scored 3 goals in quick succession with Cleto scoring a brace and was rightly adjudged the man of the match given by Anton Rebello, a former Salgaoncar, Goa and India player. The match was officiated by David.
The second match was an inconsequential match as far as the league qualifications are concerned as both the teams are out of the reckoning, but the two teams showed poise and good spirit. Santos United went ahead and was certain to come out with a win, but Rising Stars equalized through hardworking Jemon and ended the match in a draw. Jemon of YRC Rising Stars was awarded the man of the match for his all-round performance. The MOM was handed over by Bosco Leitao, the President of CRC Chinchinim. The match was supervised by Christopher.
In the 3rd match of the day Real Betalbatim took on Malabar United. Real Betalbatim knowing a draw or a win will suffice their qualification chances started sedately. Malabar United known for their physical strength did not allow Real Betalbatim to open up. Real Betalbatim went into the lead when a spot kick was awarded which was taken by Philip, but was saved by the rival goalkeeper, and the ensuing rebound was punted in by Philip from a very good follow up. The match ended with Real Betalbatim victorious 1-0. The man of the match was given to veteran Teddy Pinto of Real Betalbatim for his instrumental vision at the defense and handed over by Kevin Vaz, the Hon. Sports Secretary of KIFF. The match was officiated by Tiago.
The final match of the day saw Sparx taking on GOA Maroons. Both the teams started on a positive note with Maroons needing a draw to qualify and Sparx already out of the qualifying after losing both their opening matches. The young brigade of Sparx took the game to the famed rivals and would have been ahead had their forwards made use of the chances that came their way. GOA Maroons used their experience to take the lead and the match in the dying of the minutes of the game when Stephen scored the all important goal. The Man of the Match was awarded to Hussain of Sparx for his brilliant performance throughout. The award was handed over by Seby, the Executive Member of KIFF. The match was refereed by Michael.
The Man of the Match awards are sponsored by Integrated Logistics Company. The games are officiated by Indian Football Referees Association Kuwait. (IFRA)
During the break United Goans Center (UG) conducted the draw for their 37th 11 a side football tournament which will kick off from 7th December 2012 and held under the auspices of KIFF and for the KIFF affiliated teams.
The schedule of matches on 30/11/2012 for the ongoing KIFF League:
1st Match at 6.30am AVC Kuwait v/s CRC Chinchinim
2nd Match at 8 am DHL v/s United Friends Club
3rd Match at 9.15am Skynet Raiders v/s Santos United
4th Match at 10.30am Curtorcares United v/s Indian Strikers

NEW DVD "TIATRIST" IN KUWAIT BY SHAHU.
Goans whenever they go abroad for employment they carry along with them the musical art. This is what they brought to Kuwait when they came to Kuwait immediately following the World War II. Tiatro is one form of Musical art, this art our elders kept firmly rooted in Kuwait. Producing of Konkani Albums in the form of Audio Cassette, CD, VCD and DVD helped our songs and dramas to preserve even for the posterity. Kuwait based Tiatrists done tremendous work in the promotion of Konkani musical art. Alfred Rose was the first Tiatrist to produce a Konkani Audio Cassette while Rosary Ferns was the first Tiatrist to produce the first Konkani CD, this was the history’s first Konkani CD released from Kuwait. Also Rosary Ferns carry the distinction of producing the first Konkani Audio Cassette from Tiatrists working abroad. Both these Tiatrists' contribution in the promotion of Konkani Musical art is immense, Rosary Ferms from Kuwait while Alfred Rose from India. Their names will remain written in golden letters in the history of Goans.
Besides Rosary, there are some more Kuwait based Tiatrists and Musicians whose contribution in the promotion of musical art thru Konkani Albums is also to be noted. Recently on 16th of this month Kuwait based and well known musician Shahu Almeida released his new DVD titled "TIATRIST" which I found good and as such it is worth seeing. Its clarity is excellent and its musical score provided by Shahu is worth admiring. It consists of Songs such as Solos, Duos, Trios and Quartets rendered by the well-known singers from Goa and Kuwait namely Lawry Travasso, Ben Evangelisto, Marcus Vas from Goa and Cajetan de Sanvordem, his pretty looking daughter Clemy, Michael D’Silva, Mario de Majorda, Bab Agnel, Katy de Navelim, Lawry Miranda and others.
Every song in this Album is good and meaningful giving some information and advices to the viewers but the trio "Gulfantleo Igorzo" beautifully rendered by Cajetan de Sanvordem – Michael D’Silva – Mario de Majorda is excellent. The one who composed it deserves highest compliments for doing good research in the style of History Professor. For historians it will be a very good information on the Churches in Kuwait; the duo rendered by Lopes Bros. on the late Rosary Ferns is worth listening where the singers described everything best in Rosary Ferns starting from his birth, upbringing, locality and contribution in the promotion of Konkani Tiatro Art. I don’t think any of the tiatrists can compose and sing such a beautiful song, for this reason Lopes Bros. deserve highest praises. The scene where ROSARY was shown while walking looked really he is alive; Bab Agnel’s solo gives excellent message to Kuwaitkars who keep live - in bachelors as guests; Katty de Navelim’s solo is very informative for the newly wedded couples and it is well rendered with his powerful voice,
Clemy’s duet with Marcus Vaz’s on Aids sickness is wonderful so also her opening title song with Bab Agnel, her husband Shahu, Cajetan, Michael & Mario de Majorda. She got all the required qualities of an artiste namely: good looks, admirable presentation, majestic personality, sweet voice and above all courage in front of the Camera, it is in her gene since she is the daughter of her tiatrist father. Even when she was very tiny girl of about 6 she showed her excellence by participating in Mando Festival held at Hotel Meridien organised by Kuwait Konknni Kendr about a quarter of a century back. She was leader of her group in children category and among all she alone stole the show. When I get time I still play the Video Cassette of this Festival and admire her performance at that so young age. The other songs that are to be applauded are of Ben Evangelisto as Nistemkan and of Ignatius de Xelvonn; Ben’s solo is a comedy solo beautifully rendered and Ignatius rendered his solo in style with his attractive voice.
Shahu deserved compliments for selecting nice songs worthy of appreciating. All the scenes are very beautiful worth admiring.
Mabrouk Shahu and your troupe.

ON BAL THACKERAY.
In the death of Bal Thacaray one mighty figure of India has collapsed. His death is like a fall of an empire, fall of a Himalaya mountain and fall of an ocean. The might and height of Maharasra and Maharastrians was surrounded around his personality. He was disliked for his arrogance by many but loved by his Marathi followers in plenty. The sea of humanity comprising around 2.5 millions attending his funeral speaks volumes of his work for his Marathi people in Mahrastra in general and Mumbai in particular. He was such a towering figure in Maharastra that when he gave a command for Mumbai to stop it would stop moving an inch further. Though many times he used militant methods and inflammatory slogans yet he showed total patriotism for his Maharastra and its citizens even by inflicting pain on non - Maharastrians. Though many times parochial in his thinking yet he elevated the standard of his Marathi people. He worked tirelessly to give his Marathi people a sense of identity and importance where his people before his advent on the scene were neglected and ignored.
Even thou he had many flaws yet I admire his campaign for the ‘Sons of the Soil’ theory which he put into practice though in this direction militancy he used I abhor. I admire his guts and courage to implement his ideology fearlessly. Yet the ‘goondagiri’ his supporters used to gain their goals is surely condemnable. Many times his Sainiks by using unfair and crude methods to get their work done brought bad name for his party labelling it as the party of ‘goondas’. His hatred for Muslims has made him half fledged and not full fledged Indian. To call Indian Muslims as anti - Indian is wrong. If Indian Muslims are anti-Indian they would migrate to Pakistan and settle there. Indian Muslims are as Indian as any Indian living on the soil of India.
I was just a student at the Postgraduate Center in Panjim and Taj Group of Hotels after completing its Taj Hotel at Sinquerim falling under Candolim Panchayat were neglecting the locals in employment and instead against all the earlier promises to give locals preferential treatment in employment there instead started to give preferential treatment to non-locals. I was aware of the campaign Bal Thackary was waging in Bombay to protect the interest of Maharastrians with the principle of ‘Sons of the Soil’ theory and gaining benefits for the Maharastrians. Taking cue from Bal Thackaray’s campaign in Bombay I also started my campaign in support of the Sons of the Soil theory against Taj Sinquerim of employment there of non-locals and ignoring the locals. In this campaign I received strong backing and co-operation from my Candolim friend Alex Pinto and of course my brothers, parents, sisters and other like minded locals as well.
To implement our campaign and to put it into practice, myself and Alex Pinto during his maiden visit to Taj Sinquerim, at Sinquerim itself we both of us peacefully stopped the imported Mercedes Car of J.R.D. Tata in which he was travelling from Dabolim to Sinquerim along with his wife and Secretary all seated on rear seat while Lenny Menezes the General Manager of the Taj Sinquerim sitting on the front seat. We then and there informed Mr. Tata of our grievances and demanded preferential treatment for the locals in the employment at Taj Sinquerim before we take recourse to other civilised methods to correct the Hotel policy in favour of the locals..
Soon the locals were given preferential treatment. Meantime feelers started pouring to me to join Taj if I am interested or even an offer to go to England for studies in the Hotel Management. The so called local bigwigs became jealous of the success of our campaign but they were pigmies to deal with me. I was fearless like Thackary. I had strong conviction in my principle that what I was doing was right. Similarly I was planning to spread my campaign elsewhere in Goa for the benefit of Goans but as destined I had to leave Goa for Kuwait.
While concluding, let the soul of Bal Thackeray Rest In Peace and may Heavenly God forgive him for the atrocities his Sainiks committed rightly or wrongly at his behest against Muslims and others.
Will posterity remember him as a true Indian or only a true Maharastrian? Will his name remain ingrained in the history books as an extraordinary man or just a Marathi Hindu fanatic and the promoter of communalism? Time alone will give this answer.

KIFF LEAGUE SOCCER IN KUWAIT. WEEK:6.
Kerala Challengers, Navelim and United Goans Centre win.
Real Betalbatim and Indian Strikers settle for draw.
With just two weeks of matches left to complete the league stage of the J.P. D’Mello memorial Rolling Trophy, the picture is still not clear as to who will qualify for the quarter finals of the KIFF league with only Kuwait Goan Association having confirmed their place in the last sixteen. The quality of the teams and soccer has been exception this year and Kerala Challengers once again confirmed they are the team to beat with their third straight victory, while Navelim Youth Centre and United Goans Centre also collected full points in the sixth week of matches played at the MOH Grounds in Kuwait in the KIFF league organized by the Kuwait Indian Football Federation – Kuwait.
In the first match of the day, Kerala Challengers proved their class when they overwhelmed Santos United 3-0. Noufam Esmail opened the scoring for the Kerala team in the 15th minute of the first half and Arun Appukuttan and Shabeerali scored the second and third to complete the rout. Kerala Challengers now have nine points from three matches and have virtually qualified for the quarter finals with one more match still to play. The match was officiated by Sharma and ably assisted by Sarto Baptista and Michael on the lines. Noufam Esmail was declared the Man of the Match and received his award sponsored by Integrated Logistics Company, from the hands of Derrick Gomindes , Vice President of KIFF .
In the second match at 8:15am, Real Betalbatim and Indian Strikers slugged it out for a 1-1 draw, thus throwing group A wide open. Real Betalbatim with their dashing forward Denzil Jadhav in fine touch scored first when Denzil’s power packed shot on goal from just outside the penalty area of an indirect kick pass, went past the outstretched hands of the Indian Strikers goalkeeper in the 20th minute of the first half. Indian Strikers threw in all they had, and were lucky to get the equalizer in the second half when Lawrence’s try missed the feet of at least four defenders in the Betalbatim goal area and found the net. Denzil Jadhev of Real Betalbatim was declared the man of the match for the third time this season and received his award from William the President of Indian Strikers. The match was officiated by Julio Cardoso and assisted by Sharma and Michael on the lines.
Cruzedio Rodrigues once again showed why he is the most feared striker in Kuwait when he scored a fine hat-trick to help demolish YRC Rising Stars 5-0 in an all important match Navelim Youth Centre (NYC) had to win to stay in contention to qualify in group B. Rising Stars who have now lost all their matches and have no chance of qualifying started the game in attacking mode, but it was their defense that let them down. The hat trick by Cruzedio and two more by Duarte Ferrao playing in an unusual role of a forward were scored when the Rising Stars defense was split with precise through balls. Man of the match was rightly given to Cruzedio for his fine hat trick and the award was given by Francis Fernandes the President of IFRA. The match was officiated by Sarto Baptista and assisted by Julio Cardoso and Alvaro on the lines.
In the last match of the day, United Goans Centre (UGC) finally got on the points tally and kept their chances alive in group A when they beat Malabar United FC 1-0. Both the teams had their share of chances and the only goal of the match came when a Malabar defender blasted the ball into his own goal when trying to make a hasty clearance in a goalmouth melee. Ruzario Braganza who was a constant threat to the Malabar defiance was declared the man of the match and received his award from KIFF PRO Julio Cardoso. Alvaro Dias was the center referee and ably assisted by Vincy and Nikush on the Lines.
06:45am Curtorcares United v/s United Goans Centre

CHIEF MINISTER TARGETS A GOOD POLICE OFFICER.
CM TARGETS A GOOD POLICE OFFICER
By Aires Rodrigues
The sudden politically motivated transfer of Ponda Police Inspector Sagar Ekoskar only establishes that the gross interference in the working of the police continues even under Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar who also holds the Home Portfolio. Sagar Ekoskar has been known to be a very talented and upright officer. His talents will be rested if not wasted with him being shunted to the Goa Reserve Police.
The Supreme Court has been very candid that the Police should be wholly insulated from any political pressure, whatsoever and should be allowed to freely discharge their duty of ensuring that law and order prevails. The Supreme Court directives do not permit police officers to be transferred before the completion of two years in their posting.
The Police force should function as an independent body. It is a shame that over the years officers have been manipulated and emasculated by politicians in power and in fact the officers have no role to play except to dance to the tunes of those in power. In effect they have been bound and gagged. The frequent transfer and victimization of police officers at the instance of politicians has to stop. It affects the morale and credibility of the entire police force. Manohar Parrikar has fooled Goans by promising us a Parivartan. He is just taking Goa further down the tube. Shame on you, Mr. Chief Minister.

DR. WILFRED MESQUITA SAYS IT ALL.
By Aires Rodrigues
He has officially let the cat out of the bag. It now seems that the truth has started emanating from the horse’s mouth. Goa State BJP Vice President and party spokesman Dr Wilfred Mesquita who himself is enjoying cabinet status after having been politically rehabilitated as NRI Commissioner being an unnecessary burden to the State Exchequer in a interview with Goa Chronicle said,
“Zero-corruption is our mantra. But unfortunately here is a fact, corruption in the state still exists even though it is our government”.
Dr Mesquita in his interview went on to say “Corruption and corrupt practice exists at all levels across departments, giving bribes and taking bribes still continues”.
Dr Mesquita has only reiterated the ground reality which is known to all. He may now not be able to wriggle out of what he said as the entire interview was reportedly recorded. As party spokesman for once he has spoken the truth. He will however have to explain as to what action his party’s government has taken on the people he has seen or knows taking and giving bribes. The so called mantra of Zero tolerance to Corruption is a hoax. This government has been nine months in office and Corruption continues unabated. Only the agents, brokers and beneficiaries have changed. Selective targeting of certain individuals is an old game, to keep opponents busy and the public fooled that there is a genuine cleanup drive.
The reason why the Chief Minister is shying from having a sturdy Lokayukta is obvious. That Manohar Parrikar chose to give Shobha Dumaskar two extensions in service as Director of Prosecution despite a Corruption related Court directed F.I.R of cheating against her is just an instance of the rot below.
For his outbursts on corruption against his own government, Dr Mesquita may now have to scout for a new party. It will however not be an arduous task for someone who has seen one to many. From the MGP to the Congress and later to the Save Goa Front with then joining the BJP, he has toured it all. If the clock ticks he may wade through to the NCP and could even land in Mamata Banerjee’s TMC as his constituency has a big chunk of voters from West Bengal. Let us however hope that Manohar Parrikar does not punish Mesquita for speaking the truth. The Vasco Gynecologist would hate to see his dream come true of cabinet status with red beacon abruptly aborted.

'TIATRIST' - Amazing New Konkani VCD to be Released in Kuwait - Friday 16th Nov 2012
By Gasper Crasto; Photo Art ImagEnations by Simon Dias (Tel No. 97827670)
Kuwait: Konkani VCDs have always been in great
demand with overseas Goans, and particularly with Kuwait Goans. Thanks to
innovative Goan artistes based in Kuwait, there are plenty of Video albums
released every year. Infact, Kuwait has a distinct record of releasing Konkani
VCDs and albums at almost every Goan show. Francis Almeida better known as Maestro Shahu will release his 2nd Video production 'TIATRIST' on Friday, 16th November 2012 during the staging of the Konkani drama 'Aitar Budhvar' at Kuwait Medical Hall, Jabriya, Kuwait.
Shahu’s debut video album ‘MUSICIAN’ was well accepted and admired.
‘TIATRIST’ features a galaxy of Goan and Kuwait based stars in a unique presentation. The picturisation of each song entwined with rhythmic beats showcases the Goan spirit that makes Konkani-style songs so popular -- making the album creative, rich and melodious. The VCD made for a global audience is sure to leave a mark of Shahu’s class as a showman – a singer, director, maestro and a one-man musician of immense ability.
Shahu is no stranger to Goan world of music and drama. He is the 1st Goan musician to ‘single-handedly’ play music on Konkani Stage.
Few however know that Shahu, a dynamic talent with his keyboard, began his tryst with music drumming from St. Francis Xavier School, Macazana and Guardian Angel College, Sanvordem, to propel into a musical horizon forever. Evolving into an ace drummer, he had the rare and splendid opportunity of honing his musical skills under the baton of Chris Perry, the eternal Goan icon. But it was his evolution into a keyboardist that shot him into instant fame.
Shahu has indeed come a long way with his association with music spanning nearly two decades. His musical creativity was elevated further after his arrival in Kuwait in 1999. He has played at almost every show in Kuwait since then. The maestro has also played in UK, Muscat, Doha, Bahrain, Bangalore, Darjeeling, etc, either directing or performing for top directors. He has also done a short stint playing live music at Dubai's famous Viva Goa restaurant.
In recent years, Shahu has created a niche for himself by forming his own band called 2#Sharp which is adept in belting out all kind of songs, be it in Hindi, English, Konkani, Portuguese or other languages -- performing a large repertoire of songs on the request of audience.
Footage of ‘TIATRIST’ was shot in Goa, as well in Kuwait where outdoor videography is largely prohibited. Video & Editing of the album are credited to Kuwait-based Franky Fernandes who has demonstrated great expertise of art in giving special effects for a spot-on combination and clarity.
The album contains captivating songs by leading singers of Konkani stage – Lawry Travasso, Marcus Vaz, Ben Evangelisto, Cajetan de Sanvordem-Michael D’Silva-Mario de Majorda, Lopes Brothers, Bab Agnel, Katty de Navelim, Ignatius de Xelvon, etc.
The album also brings into limelight Shahu’s wife Clemmie Pereira-e-Almeida who is making her debut as a singer with an adorable and enchanting voice – singing in style -- as cheerful as her dad Cajetan de Sanvordem. Young Muriel too has an impressive first appearance.
The composition of title song 'TIATRIST' is a tribute to Goan artistes who have kept the flame of ‘tiatr’ burning over the years. The song presented in an inimitable fashion and rhythm is sung by Shahu, Clemmie, Bab Agnel, Cajetan de Sanvordem, Mario de Majorda and Michael de Silva. A clipping of Shahu receiving ‘Artiste of the Month’ award in Goa at the hands of Goan icon Prince Jacob can be seen in this song. Incidentally, Shahu is the first NRI artiste to receive this award.
Muriel sings ‘Mai ani Pai’ with a sweet, charming voice. This is sure to be one of the standout hits of the album.
‘Chitt’ by Marcus Vaz and Clemmie has a wonderful advice especially for men working abroad. While Bab Agnel’s song ‘Chotur Rau’ is sure to go well with Goans and expatriates living in Kuwait. The song is supported in screenplay by Jose Fernandes, Rita Mascarenhas and Benson.
Well-known and most admired trio of Cajetan de Sanvordem-Mario de Majorda-Michael de Silva sing ‘Gulfantleo Igorzo’, putting up yet another treble of great excellence.
Superstar Lawry Travasso sings an incredible song ‘Kamrak Xiddkavni’ which is identical to his trademark tunes and lyrics, and displays ‘class’ of the seasoned singer.
Lopes Brothers has a perfect duo, immortalizing one of the most loved and respected stars of Konkani stage who died an untimely death, recently.
Katty de Navelim has a powerful and truth-seeking solo in ‘Bhurguem’ sequenced with scenes enacted to perfection by Zaneta Aranha (Mangalore), Remy Fernandes, Himanshu, Aerosmith Almeida and the ever-green Lawry Miranda.
A song astonishingly well sung and perhaps beyond anyone’s imagination is Ignatius de Xelvon’s ‘Xevalleacho Operator’. The natural beauty of Goa backed by excellent flow of music find a place in this song.
Ben Evangelisto singing as a ‘Nustekarn’ needs no narrative, it is simply awesome!
The album will surely go down in history of Goan art and drama as one of Maestro Shahu’s best works. It is certainly expected to be a blockbuster with fans giving ‘TIATRIST’ a 5-star rating.

ONSLAUGHT ON DEMOCRACY.
By Aires Rodrigues.
In rank defiance of the very basic tenet of democracy the Goa Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Parrikar has very high handedly imposed a blanket ban on any morchas, rallies and processions in Panaji during the 10 day International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2012 which begins on November 20th. If this government had any sense and wisdom it would have cancelled the over nine crore IFFI extravaganza that a cash strapped Goa exchequer just cannot afford.
While in the Opposition Manohar Parrikar led all sorts of agitations, morchas and processions. He even squatted on the roads and blocked vehicular traffic. So why now this attempt to throttle people’s right to peacefully demonstrate.
There was a hope and it was public perception that Manohar Parrikar would have changed for the better in this fresh innings as Chief Minister. But as they say, a dog’s tail can never be straightened. We will however have to ferociously fight back and not allow him to muzzle the Voices of dissent.

KIFF LEAGUE SOCCER GAMES PLAYED ON FRIDAY IN KUWAIT.
Kerala Challengers, Real Betalbatim, AVC score wins
Last season Champions DBO make shock exit in KIFF league
Last season’s champions Don Bosco Oratory made an early exit from the KIFF League when they were held 0-0 by a resolute Kuwait Goan Association, while Kerala Challengers, Real Betalbatim and AVC Sports & Cultural Association won their matches in the 5th week of league matches in the ongoing KIFF League for the J. P. D’Mello Memorial Rolling Trophy being played at the MOH Ground in Shuwaikh, Kuwait and organized by the Kuwait Indian Football Federation.
Kuwait Goan Association (KGA) needed only a draw to be the first team to qualify for the quarter finals and did just that. A strangely restrained Don Bosco Oratory (DBO) had an off day on the field as KGA not only held their defense well, but also made sporadic attacks on the DBO goal and were unfortunate when a shot by Christovam hit the upright in the 15th minute of the first half. A desperate DBO knowing a draw would mean their exit tried their best in the second half but erratic shooting and a easy header missed by Alexandro in the second half ended the game goalless. Chrisovam of KGA was declared the Man of the Match and received his award sponsored by Integrated Logistics Company, from the hands of Joseph Gomes, Asst. Sports Secretary of KIFF . The match was officiated by David and assisted by Francis Fernandes and Julio Cardoso.
In the second match at 8:15am, a youthful United Goans Centre were unable to penetrate the Real Betalbatim defense ably led by veteran and captain Theodore Pinto and lost 1-2 in an engrossing match. Diminutive Elvis opened the scoring for Real Betalbatim in the 10th minute of the first half, while Marshall added a second, soon after that. United Goans gave it their best and finally scored through Francis in the second half, but could not get the equalizer due to some good keeping by the Real Betalbatim keeper. Denzil Jadhev of Real Betalbatim was declared the man of the match and received his award from Pascoal Alphonso President of United Goans Centre. The match was officiated by Mubarak Yousuf and assisted by David and Francis on the lines.
In the battle for leadership in group A, a literally strong Kerala Challengers edged Navelim Y.C (NYC) 2-1 in a fast paced and at times robust match. NYC greatly missing their star midfielder Bernardo Pires due to illness could not match the skills of Kerala Challengers in midfield and their forwards led by the charismatic Fajelu missed a number of chances before Fajelu finally scored in the 15th minute of the first half. In the second half Kerala Challengers kept up the pressure and Jamal made it 2-0 when his beautifully executed free kick found the far corner of the net past the outstretched hands of Britto in the NYC goal. NYC got one back when a good move from the left flank enabled their goal machine Cruzedio to score in a goalmouth melee. Kerala Challengers however defended well after that to deny NYC a second goal and now top the group with two wins in two games. Man of the match was Fajelu of Kerala Challengers and the award was given by Lawrence Pinto the President of Rising Stars. The game was officiated by Julio Cardoso assisted by Sarto Baptista and Nicholas on the lines.
In the last match of the day, AVC Sports & Cultural Association easily outclassed Sparks 5-0 in a one sided match which saw the first hat -trick of the tournament. Flamboyant Kevin Vaz finally found his scoring touch when he opened the scoring for AVC with a simple tap in and soon made it 2-0 with a fine volley. Braulio scored three more to ensure AVC now top their pool with 4 points from two games and needing just a draw in the last game to qualify. Man of the match was awarded to Braulio the hattrick man of AVC and given by Adley D’Lima the treasurer of KIFF. The game was officiated by Tiego Fernandes supported by Sarto Baptista and Christopher Fernandes on the lines.
Coming Friday’s schedule is as follows:- Santos United take on Kerala Challengers at 6:45am, followed by Indian Strikers versus Real Betalbatim FC at 8:00. Navelim Y.C will than play Rising Stars at 9:15am and the last match will be between Malabar United and United Goans Centre at 10:30am

Goan and Mangalorean comedy pair in Konkani drama
By Gasper Crasto; Photo Art ImagEnations by Simon Dias (Tel No. 97827670)
Kuwait: Comedian Jr. Simla, who has created a niche for himself as one of Kuwait's latest sensation, will once again be at his best in what he does best – make the audience laugh their socks out with peals of laughter!
Comedian Simla's comedy is simply fantastic. He can easily be the 'darling of the audience' for his naïve 'acting' and 'clean' dialogues.
Simla will be accompanied in the comedy skits by Mangalorean star Lucy Aranha. Together, they make a wonderful pair, as proved in their last performance in Nazy Rod's 'Ghonvddo' where they pulled off a rib-tickling, hilarious comedy.
The pair will be in full flow along with director Salu Faleiro, who is set to give his best in the show.
The drama features 'Hit'man of Konkani Stage Sylvester Vaz, Goa-based singers Rosario de Benaulim, Seby de Divar, Goan writer-director Menino Mario, Lighthouse of Konkani Stage Irene Vaz, Cajetan de Sanvordem, Braz de Parra, Micheal D'Silva, Lopes Brothers, Bab Agnel, Agnes Rodrigues, Gennifer, Teenage & child artistes: Bladwin, Jeremiah Vaz and Joshua, Comedian Jr. Simla & Comedian Lucy, powerful singers: Katty de Navelim, Laurent Pereira, John, Adrian, Lawry M, Clara, Agnelo Ferns, Anthony D'Silva, Dubai Trio, Comedian Luis and Rita.
Music for the show will be provided by Maestro Shahu Almeida.

OBAMA'S RE-ELECTIO.N AND OUR BAD SYSTEM.
“My dog Milly got better knowledge of foreign affairs than this bloody ‘Bhozo’ ”, said the ex-president of USA, Bush Sr., referring to his opponent and presidential candidate Bill Clinton. Bush Sr. after winning the Gulf War for the liberation of Kuwait was re-contesting for the second term for White House. The above statement he made while campaigning in USA for his re-election. By making this humiliating remark Bush brought his Dog Milly to higher level than Bill Clinton who otherwise had degrees from Harward and Oxford. Not only this, Bill Clinton was known to be the first scholar president of USA. It was said that never in the history of presidential election in USA the campaigning has reached to such ebb and this was brought to this low level only by Bush and not by Clinton who very intelligently maintained his cool befitting his scholarly discipline and high character.
After winning this election came the day of his taking over the presidency and during the Oath taking ceremony while giving his speech when everyone thought Clinton will retaliate by degrading Bush who was also in the VIP seat along with his wife Barbara, to the surprise of all started his speech with the following statement:
“Let me start myself by paying my rich tributes to my predecessor who is seating right in front of me in this Hall, for his enormous contribution in the service of this great nation during the last half a century. As a newly elected president of USA, I deeply appreciate his service to our nation so gallantly and sincerely”. This was responded by the hall packed elite audience with tremendous applauding.
Now on 7th of this month while accepting the victory, president Obama in his speech showered praises on his opponent Roomney and offered the Republicans a warm handshake of friendship requesting their partnership for the betterment of USA. In this speech Obama neither degraded nor criticised his opponent for any remark Roomney made against Obama and his black colour during the campaigning. A graduate from Yale University which is the top University in USA, Obama showed his scholarly wisdom by not speaking in the manner of Tit – For – Tat.
Will such happenings happen in our country where the winners most of the time hunt for the blood of their defeated opponents? I don’t think. When Janata Party came to power in 1977 by defeating Indira’s Congress, the first thing they did was to hunt for Indira’s blood and that of her younger son Sanjay by arresting them. The then Home Minister of India under Janata rule was idiotic minded Charan Singh who carried this tirade against Indira Gandhi even against the wishes of wisdomatic premier Morarjee Desai who was very decent to indulge in the politics of revenge.
See what is happening in Tamilnadu, it was nothing but the politics of revenge between Karunanidi and Jayalalita. Because of revenge one against the other the development of the State is hampered. Both these leaders consider their State is their fathers' propert to do what they want to do personally.
Come to Goan politicians who instead of concentrating on development and serving the State and its people they first direct their total attention on their opponents to liquidate them not only politically but also physically. Revenge is the topmost priority for our politicians and worst still it is the personal revenge. By going for revenge they are bastardising their position which was entrusted to them by their voters. They are elected by the voters to serve the people and not to take personal revenge of their opponents. Because of this India is still backward and Goa is worst. And if this trend is not finished the current revengeful Goan politicians will finish the peace of Goa.
During the MGP rule in Goa, as a mode of revenge Bandodkar the CM of Goa neglected the development of Salcette for not electing any single MGP candidate for Goa Legislative Assembly. Salcette voters strongly supported UGP and kicked MGP candidates from their citadel. This was nothing but politics of revenge which is not acceptable in a civilised world. Besides this, since MGP is pro-Hindu, Bandodkar even denied Government jobs for many Chrisitans as a punishment for not supporting his pro-Hindu party. Bandodkar considered Goa as his father's proerty.
Among the Goan politicians there are more Ladru-Pedrus who are not fit to be the public servants. Instead they think they are bosses of the public who elected them. They pay scant respect for the wishes of their voters because they are crooks without elite educational background, without disciplined family background and without proper politically matured family tradition. Without good family background and good family discipline no person can deliver the goods and upright political administration. Is it a dignified manner to ask bribe like a beggar as our Goan politicians do? Only shameless and undignified persons can do such beggary. For this reason Goa is suffering from political upheavals again and again. And those politicians who create this type of upheavals are born and brought up under the background of rascal parents who brought up their children like wild animals.
After the illegal annexation of Goa from the Portuguese by the Nehru’s Bharat the political administration of Goa went into the hands of third class politicians who became slaves of bribes. Third class Goans became Panchayat members, MLA’s and Ministers who sucked the blood of common Goans. Our Panchayats in our localities filled by the politically immature Zotkar – Posorkar – Nistekar – Chunekar – Chonnekar – Dukonkar –Paddekar - Bottler and such others. What good can you expect from such people? Do such people have the knowledge and art of ruling as Legislators? During the Portuguese rule in Goa these same people had no guts even to enter not only Regidores House but even Secretariat House. After the end of Portuguese rule in Goa, power went into the hands of “Chors” and rascals and because of them Goa is suffering miserably since 19th December 1961.
We have to learn a lot from American democratic system.
