24th June is a great day of Sao Joao festival dedicated to St. John the Baptist which is most pompously celebrated in Goa, and with eccentric revelry in Salcete, especially in Navelim with different types of folk dances, mandos and sangodds, tagged along by the age-old, sweet tradition of exchanging fruits and other eatables between friends and relatives.
