SUB: ATROCIOUS ATTACKS ON THE CHRISTIAN MINORITY

India wakes up every day to the news that Radical Hindu Extremists areattacking peace loving Christian minority based in India with thepretext that they are forcibly converting them to Christianity. Even of the attack on a Swami Despite knowing that it was a maoist groupthat claimed responsibility. One cant term this just as attacks orprotests but one of the worst pathetic invasion against the practicesof the Christian faith. Hurting scenes were seen across all majorNewspapers and I would like to also point at how late the TV mediacovered the subjects. In what is termed as the worst one could everimagine the Extremists Hindus commit; Churches were burnt, ChristianPlay schools, Schools and Colleges were destroyed Priests and Nuns publicly desecrated in ways one could never imagine, the Holy figuresand Images of the Savior Jesus Christ, Virgin Mary and the number of Saints that the Christian Faithful honour were seen strewn across thefloor, the Crucifix and Idols disfigured. On top of that many of the faithful were beaten up, burnt brutally and tortured at places evenforcing the people to flee for the jungles or to relief camps. Somewere even made to convert to Hindus.

What is the meaning of all this?Isn't this supposed to be India, the country where our FreedomStruggle took place where numerous Indians gave their life up for thesake of a better India. Indian constitution have gifted the 'INDIANS'rights. The rights that would deliver India into better citizens wherea citizen could choose to make decision favourable according to him orher without any external force. I have seen many Christians convert to Hindus and Muslims, so would that mean that the affected should go and destroy India and its constitution? I say India because this countryis made up of all religion, languages and people irrespective of casteor creed. Retaliation took place in such a way that a lot of peoplewere killed, harmed even to the extent of poisoning water at reliefcamps, attacking a pregnant woman, police brutality. No this is not right, no one has the right to harm, attack or murder another. This isthe basics of all Religion whatever it may be.

The types of attacks on the Christian faith were so brutal that many TV news channels could not even air it due to very graphical scenes.Remember people that it was those very nuns that helped India during times of hardships specially famines, plagues and other medicalcatastrophes. These missionaries have started schools dedicated tosaints so as to educate the few that cannot afford it in India. Children of different faith were always treated equally in suchschools. Peace and Equality were the mottos practiced in theseorganizations. So many hospitals, clinics, medical camps, blooddonation drives, and awareness were spread by them so as to rescuethose that needed it the most. When there are floods, famines andnational calamities; various Sisters and Nuns were always there totend to the needy. There was even news that in the recent flooding in Bihar and Orissa many Christian Organizations helped those that needed serious medical attention and also medical relief and food supplies. It would be great if there were the other organizations to help out inthese matters, but instead of supporting the cause they attack the few that sacrifice their services for others. Indeed this is not the India that our past leaders would want to see. This type of communalism is not needed at this stage. And in case the government has not noticed Christians in the country are suffering and they are made to think that Article 355 or 356 will help them.

Lives are gone unnecessarily and still more are in hiding, there is a lot more that is needed to bedone if this is to be prevented in the future. What are the states of Orissa, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and many others going to do about the destruction and loss caused to the Christian Faith? India still has a long way to go from a developing nation. People are suffering because of diseases, poverty, starvation, lack of housing and are indesperate need of such resources. We should change our focus toeradicate these things and not add further sufferings and pain byadding fuel to fire in such communal atrocities that will only shame India further.
