NEED ANSWERS FROM OUR CANDIDATES.

Before casting our votes,  we need the answer from our candidates for the following:

After getting elected,  will you act as humble servants of the people or will you act as arrogant, proud like  feudal lords?

After  getting elected  and when inducted into the Cabinet, will you opt for VIP culture  with ministerial  bungalows, limousines, police security and  other such  monarchical facilities or will you live a simple and ordinary life ?

After getting elected, will you identify yourselves with the common persons or will you act as creatures from the outer space?

Given the ministerial portfolios, will you sell government  jobs for lakhs of rupees and also  will you charge as bribe money for the government services under your supervision?

After getting elected, will you defect to other parties by betraying your voters who got you elected on particular party symbols?

FOR Independent candidates,  after getting elected, will you remain as Independents only  or will you join the ruling party  like  the current ones namely, Avertano, Tiklo, Caitu etc., against the voters  choice? Voters elected you as Independents and not to join other parties.  By taking support of the Independents, BJP worked against  the interest of Goa,   against Christians and in favour of communalism. The Catholic voters from Navelim, Aldona and elsewhere are duty bound to reprimand their representatives for taking them for a ride.  This way their representatives like Avertano and Tiklo have robbed the trust of the voters.  What guarantee is there that  they will not repeat the same SIN?

My life security as  a  Catholic Christian is in danger under the BJP government and to defend my religion is my  religious duty otherwise I am committing a big SIN. ALL THOSE Catholics and Christians who are supporting any communal party that creates problems for them are not true Christians.  They are the followers of Jews who killed Jesus Christ.  In the current BJP group there are some Catholics supporting the government as MLA’s and Ministers. By doing this they are committing a big SIN for which there is no forgiveness. By supporting the BJP government, these Christian BJP supporters are inflicting self damaging injuries on them. The Christian MLA’s and Ministers in the BJP government have lost their sanity to see what is right  and what is wrong. In order to punish the Christians, the BJP put an end to the production of Beef thus stopping the staple diet of Christians.  Tomorrow they will, if  possible, even stop supplying air to the Christians.  BJP wants to stop grants to Diocesan Schools and likewise grab, time permitting, everything belonging to the Church and Christians.

While concluding,   I say “SHAME ON YOU ALL THE CATHOLICS AND CHRISTIANS FOR SUPPORTING THE BJP, THE ANTI-CHRISTIAN PARTY.

TO VOTE OR NOT TO VOTE.

To vote or not to vote? It is a big question for many who are disappointed with the democratic  procedure we are following and also due to the mess we are put in by our elected representatives. As a matter of fact, it  is our duty to vote, those who refuse to vote are sadly mistaken.. The choice should be between the lesser and greater evils though both are evils.  By refusing to vote we will give advantage to greater evil to increase his tally and when elected he will do all nonsense.  If money is doled, please accept but vote only for  the candidates  of your choice. It is a sin for money giver and not for recipient – to quote Dr. Jack Sequeira during the Opinion Poll. The money that candidates distribute is a looted money and genuine Christians will commit a sin if they sell their votes for monetary gains. Such deals are anti-Christian.

When voting for Independent candidates, please get a firm publicly declared promise that they will remain as independents only without aligning with any party once elected.  Men like Avertano and Ticlo should be reprimanded for aligning with communal party BJP and should be warned by their voters.  With their support BJP destroyed Goa and  worked against the interest of Christians. Under BJP, Christians are living in fear and our Christian MLA’s and Ministers are watching this as silent spectators.  They are like Judases and at an appropriate time they will commit suicide, if not they then their children but punishment must surely come as it came on Judas.  Everybody supporting anti-Christian parties will be punished appropriately. Those Catholics supporting anti-Christian Communal Parties are committing a crime against their own religion, they are not true Catholics  among whom there are some priests as well whose services faithful must boycott because they are not supporters of Christianity.

By all means communal parties should not be voted, if they get power they will liquidate minorities, especially the Christians in Goa as evidenced from the recent past experience we had.   The trend now devised by the communal parties is to treat minorities including the Christians as second class citizens even by controlling their religious activities. Religious minorities should stop associating with communal parties.  They must know it is a sin for them to support those candidates whose parties are all out to destroy the Christians and other minorities. The leaders of minority communities must preach openly and loudly from their Temples that to support the communal parties in the coming election is like betraying their religions.  And Catholics in Goa will be betraying Jesus Christ by associating and supporting the communal parties.

It is not enough to develop and build the roads and bridges but the real development lies in building the trust of minorities in the majority communities, in Goa to live peacefully secured life.  In Goa, those Catholics who are siding with the enemies of Christians and still performing their religious rites and duties in the Church are shameless Catholics.  They cannot serve two masters like being Catholics on one side and Hindu Christians on the other side just as they cannot perform Hindu Pooja by wearing the” Puddvem” on one side and receive the Holy Communion on the other side.  Those who are boasting of developing roads are selfish because by doing so they got huge amount of commission from the Contractors. This is not the development but the robbery and for such robbers we must reject in the coming election.

TIATRO "MAIM PAI TIM MAIM PAI".

Seen Director Domnick singing his solo.

Yesterday, in Panjim, at Kala Academy Hall, at 7.45 PM I saw a nice Tiatro “MAIM PAI TIM MAIM PAI” scripted an directed by Kuwait based Domnick Fernandes.  Working in Kuwait for the last so many years, Domnick is very active in Kuwait among Goans especially in the Church activities.  He is also involved in the cause of promotion of Konkani.  During his vacation in Goa now since mid Decembeber, he has done 25 Shows of  this Tiatro which is a very good record to establish by any expatriate Goan Tiatrist. A “ghaum – bhau” of the late M. Boyer from Raia Salcette, Domnick’s forte lies in scripting good Tiatros and compose and render songs which are also recorded in his own CD’s/DVD’s.

One scene

One more scene

Seen singing a song

In this Tiatro he depicts the real picture of the fate of many of our Goans working there in Kuwait and finally what is their end in Goa inspite of doing so much for their children.  Do our children realize this?  The major part of this Tiatro was shouldered by Mario de Vasco and Ivon as husband and wife working in Kuwait.  Mario with perfect clarity and high pitch voice, does justice to his role while attractive Ivon with her majestic personality and  romantic voice gives  an extra booster to this play.  Both she and Mario played a real sorrowful scene in the ending part of the play.  Her last Canto was very touching and she rendered it very sorrowfully too.

Seen singing a solo

Also seen singing a solo

The others who deserve especial mention for doing his role well was seasoned and veteran artiste Anthony San as a “Bom Samaratan”, always ready to assist the distressed.

Seen singing a trio

The comedy part was beautifully handled by all the new comedians, at least to my eyes they are new faces but they did their roles as seasoned.  They all have a very good good scope for them on Konkani Stage.

Seen singing a duet

Another scene

In the Side Show Songs, every singer deserves compliments because every song is meaningful and carried some message though they all were rendered not by the top professionals.  If this part was entrusted with some top names, the rating of this Tiatro would still go high because the story is very good and it was enacted very well by all the artistes who surely deserve highest compliments.

A romantic scene:Mario/Ivon

A scene where all the three comedians seen

Director Domnick’s one of the solos “Tiatrist” was very beautiful in the sense he tells how Tiatro was misused by the later generation Tiatrists after its origin. Anthony San’s both the solos were good, so too of Marcus Vas and his duet.  There was not a single vulgarity in this Tiatro because of this, this Tiatro got more booster.  Neither there was any “Pozddo” comedian to use Pozddi comedy.

TIATRO "MAFI MAGTAM" BY COM. DOMNICK.

Chitra seen singing her solo on Maestro Juzinho

Yesterday in Panjim at Kala Academy Hall, at 3.40 PM, I saw the new Tiatro ‘MAFI MAGTAM” written and directed by Comedian Domnick.  Though the hall was not fully filled yet it was a good attendance that enjoyed this Tiatro from the beginning till end.  I can rightly say it is one of the best Tiatros of this season and every artiste performed his and her role appropriately well and the credit for this surely goes to the director.  However, I can’t resist the temptation of highlighting the superb roles played by the two artistes to attain total success for this Tiatro and they  are Eliterio D’Costa playing the role of the husband and father of the young girl and Chitra playing the role of the grand mother.  This is the first time I see her performing such a role and she did it extremely well displaying all the attributes and qualities ingrained in the typical Goan Grandmother.

Sonali Naik sings her solo

The story is woven around one young girl – Sonali Naik – who craves for her real mother and who leaving her young daughter, gets married second time after obtaining Divorce.  Since the Tiatro is going on all over Goa, I refrain from disclosing the full details of the story and suggest to watch this Tiatro.

Seen above are Ellias and Precilla in one scene

The comedy part was nicely handled by both the Comedian brothers Director Domnick and Luis Bachan  with an added association of young comedian girl Cassey Travasso  who indicates lot of confidence in her acting.

Seen above Com.  Cassey to the left.

Among the Side Show songs, especial mention must be made to the excellent solo rendered by Chitra in praise of Maestro Juzinho who is bed ridden now and who was an ace musician performing for so many Tiatros.  It was a fitting tribute to his excellent work he did in musical field. So also Saby Divar, Lesly and Ellias performed well in their songs.  The duets rendered by Chitra & Allias and Precilla & Xavier de Maina were worth admiring.

Seen above in another scene are Ellias & Chitra

Congratulations to Comedian Domnick and his troupe for this nice Tiatro.

ELECTION & THREAT OF COMMUNALISM.

The greatest threat for us Christians now is Communalism whose promoters are all out to liquidate the minorities especially the Christians from this soil. In my land Goa the seed of communal virus was implanted on 18th December 1961 itself when  the Portuguese Flag was still  flying in Panjim.   The idea to merge Goa with Maharastra was to liquidate the influence of the Christians.  The same tendency is carried forward now more forcefully with the backing of the RSS, the whole and sole of the BJP, that recently said, “by 2021 every Indian must be converted to Hindu Religion otherwise “Get Out from this land”.  And go where?  Is this land your fathers’ property to have your monopoly over it?

My ancestors were living on this land much before  Portuguese, Christianity, Islam and Hinduism as religion came into being in this land. We the Christians are as strong citizens of our land as any citizen of this land belonging to Hinduism or any other religion. We came not from Portugal but Portuguese came to our land from Portugal and let it be known to fanatic communal Hindus that it was a Hindu leader who begged with Portuguese to come to Goan land to protect and save Hindus.  According to our family records, our ancestors  voluntarily got converted to Catholicsm without any outside forced influence nor with any inducement.  Our ancestors were very happy when Christianity came to our land with equality for all. This type of freedom and equality especially in the Hindu community then were denied to some segments of the Hindu society.  Why then, it is still existing even now. Our ancestors embraced Christianity with love for Christian principles and Christ’s teachings of love for fellow human beings while very many embraced Christianity as a mark of protest and revolt against discriminatory Hinduism.

The present BJP government is harping on the little development it made especially the Road building where the concerned MLA’s and Ministers got their commissions and thru this type of commission they have built their assets to crores of rupees as indicated in their recent declaration  on the election contesting forms.  Otherwise, how  is it possible for any Ladru-Shambu type of person to create such a mighty financial empire? Only such corrupt politicians can built their financial empires thru illicit money.  The development they boast of is not the real development, decorating of the Roads is not the real development,  creating employment avenues to our unemployed youth is the real development, providing government services uninterrupted to the citizens is the real development and providing normal facilities and life security to the minorities to live a fearless life will be the real development.

Today minority communities in Goa are living in fear, the existence of the schools of Christians is harassed with the threat of withdrawal of government grants as if this money belonged to the government.  These schools serve all the communities and not only Christians though they are built by the Chrisitians only.  There is hidden agenda to uproot the Chrisitians from this land by using different dirty tactics. It is the duty of every citizen of this land to assure security to the threatened religious minorities, especially Christians in Goa in particular..

The current BJP government is supported by some Christian MLA’s with whose support the BJP government harms the interest of minorities especially of Christians but none of the Chrtistian MLA’s raises his voice against this.  They are like Judases ready to sell their Rabbi again for 30 Coins because they are power and money hungry.  Navelkars and Aldonkars must question their MLA’s with whose permission they aligned with the BJP government.  Again this time they must get an undertaking from them that they if elected will not align with the BJP. So too other Independents.  The others who are contesting the election in the name of BJP must be warned of this danger when they come to ask for your votes. It must be accepted that voting such candidates is not only a small sin but a big sacrilege for which there will not be any forgiveness.  Hence, will it be right to  elect them again? Unless we want to dig our own graves.

TIATRO "MEULELEM NAKA SANDLELEM ZAI".

Antonette de Maina sings her solo

Today morning at 10.40 in Panjim at Kala Academy. I saw the new Tiatro “MEULELEM NAKA SANDLELEM ZAI” written and directed by Samuel Carvalho. It was a well attended Show which is based on our Konkani proverb “RANDLOLEM NAKA PUN SANDLOLEM ZAI” where Dolla, Mario Menezes, Semenca and Philip Almeida played their roles very well.   Hoewever Dolla’s role was super as a rich divorced mother of one son.  She looked majestic in her majestic costumes.
Semenca & Philip Almeida in a scene

Saby de Divar sings his political solo

It is a family story woven around the subject where the young girl refuses a nice proposal and opts for love marriage where before getting married the boy leaves her.  The role of the boy was beautifully played by handsome and youthful Philip Almeida while the role of his poor girlfriend was played appropriately by lovely looking attractive Semenca. A superb role of the father was played by Mario Menezes.

Semenca & Dola sing their song

A scene

The comedy part was handled by Comedians Jannet, Agostinho Temudo, Selvv, Richard and Ambe.  Agostinho was at his best especially in his sarcastically witty comments on Goan politicians, more piercingly on Luizinho Faleiro for his lust for power.

Reagan sings his solo

Another scene

In the Side Show songs, the songs rendered by Saby de Divar, Reagan, Benny de Aldona, Dolla & Semenca, Antonette de Maina were worth listening. The duet Reagan rendered with Semenca was the most precious among all.

Seen above is lovely Dola

Com. Jannet sings her solo

                                                             Last scene

Norman Cardozo provided an excellent musical score.

GREATNESS OF PORTUGUESE CULTURE.

It is said, Goans are by nature mild and soft people.  This is partly because of the long term influence of Portuguese rule in Goa for 451 years since Portuguese culture is mild,  soft and decent.   Even the top dignitaries coming to Goa from Portugal, given an opportunity to integrate with the local commoners, would create a very good impact of themselves.  Most of them proved to be humble just as I indicate below.

It was in 1958 when I was a student of Portuguese school in Candolim,  suddenly at 8.00 AM returning from Aguada, the Goa Governador Vassalo e Silva, appeared at the door of our class and wishing us “Bom Dia”, slowly  walked smilingly to the Platfrom where our Professor Oliveira was seated.  Then turning towards me, a skinny ugly looking shabbily dressed boy,  seated on the first bench,  asked in Portuguese “Do you have a Bag?”  Seeing him talking to me, a commoner,  thus, the Governador of Goa, I became nervous. Noticing my nervousness, he felt pity on me and humbly put his hand in my desk like a commoner and when he found the desk empty, he realized my proletarian background and humbly presented me one Bag.  During this whole episode, I found him a very simple, humble and a kind hearted man without any pride normally associated with  our disgraceful politicians.

Somewhere in 1959 during his visit to Portugal, Pe. Chico Monteiro from Candolim met Salazar in his office and while returning, Pe. Chico  forgot his Hat on Salazar’s table. After a few seconds walk, Pe. Chico heard calling him from behind thus, “Senhor Pardre – Senhor Pardre, Seu Chapeu !!”. Turning his back, Pe. Chico noticed Salazar personally coming running, putting the security men into disarray, to return the Hat instead of sending it thru his Peon.  This is yet another sign of simplicity of Portuguese culture shown by the Portuguese Dictator. Such simplicity and humility are not existing in our land because our politicians are barbarians.

The same type of simplicity and humility  I noticed in Portuguese Premier during his recent reception at Bambolim Hayat Hotel, on 12th of this month where I was one of the official invitee. During his interaction with the attendees, I found the Portuguese Premier Antonio Costa totally a simple and humble man, accessible to anyone without any pride normally associated even with our ordinary Panchayat member.

AN OPEN PLEA TO SAXTTIKARS.

The contribution of our Saxttikars in the protection of Goa and Goanness was immense.  From the time of freedom movement for Goa, the tallest Goan Feedom Fighters were from  Salcette and moreover they were not communal, they involved in freedom movement to protect Goa as it was with all the characteristics intact without liquidating anything nor merging Goa with  Maharastra  with Marathi as official language.  The degree of patriotism of Saxttikars towards Goa, as seen, was high.

After the invasion of Goa by Bharat under the leadership of Nehru on 19.12.1961 without the consent of Goans, the entire Salcette stood firmly behind the protection of Goa.  The victory for Goans in the Opinion Poll was entirely due to the Salcette voters.  The Konkani language movement got success mainly because of Saxttikars where our Ilhaskar brothers also suffered martyrdom  leading to the granting of Statehood on Goa.

Saxttikars are known to be the strong followers of democratic norms.  Following this principle they must now vote for the right candidates who will not align with any communal party especially the BJP or MGP to form the next government.  In the past the Saxttikars, most of the time did vote for the right candidates.  Now the Saxttikars will have to be extra cautious to elect the right candidates in the midst of most of the corrupt candidates contesting the next election from Salcette. Currently some of the candidates who merged with the ruling party BJP when they were not mandated by the voters to do the same, have done great injustice and betrayal to the voters. These candidates should be voted out in the coming election along with the habitual defectors known to be corrupt.

There are some candidates in Salcette who are contesting as Independents like Avertano Furtado but once elected they will jump into the ruling party for the receipt of the ministerial berths or any financial gains.  By doing this they are committing a breach of trust posed in them by the voters who elected them as Independents to occupy their Seats in the Assembly as Independents only and not as  "Baddeache Boil" in any party. In the last election the Independents were not given the mandate to sleep on the same bed with the BJP and commit adultery. This time Saxtikars must prevent these Independents acting like Prostitutes because during the last decade there are more political prostitutes in Salcette than anywhere in Goa.   Voters must ask from these Independents publicly that they will remain as Independents only as per the wishes of the Voters.

ALLIANCE OF CONG. & GFP NEEDED TO OUST BJP.

Non-BJP government our 2017 goal: GFP

GFP has been talking of alliance with the Congress party right from day one and we have no intention to break the alliance if it works to install a non-BJP government in Goa. If not, we are prepared to sit in opposition for Goa, Goemkar and Goemkarponn. The alliance partner should be equally serious to form the government.

Give Goa Forward five seats ------ Velim, Fatorda, Siolim, Saligao and Mapusa and we guarantee five MLAs to the alliance to form the next non-BJP government. The field reality and our foot soldiers will ensure 100 per cent strike rate. Goa Forward Party can also wrest Navelim for the alliance but when the President of the Congress wants it, etiquette demands that we simply shut our shop and seal our mouth.

WHOM TO VOTE?

Whom to vote is the question now because to my naked eyes almost  all the candidates are going to be the same and time is short to assess them appropriately. Some recommended BJP but it is the worst communal party while Congress is the worst corrupt and because it is so, it was rejected in the last election. However, even Congress is preferred to BJP yet Congressmen will increase and multiply corruption if they regain the power since all the known corrupt Congressmen as understood, are going to contest the coming election.

What about AAP?  They will only make a big noise by displaying their Delhi Topis which are fit to wear in Delhi only and not in Goa because weather conditions in Goa are different from Delhi. Besides on certain Goa related issues AAP is gripped with Hamletic indecisiveness where they are not forthright. To follow Kejrival's "bashans" in Hindi, he is not a Jayprakash Narayan.  Kejrival is a master of U Turns like our Parricar and such people cannot be trusted.

Then what about MGP? Oh my goodness, they are like Judases ready to sell their master not only for 30 Coins but for any amount provided they get an opportunity to harm minority communities in Goa.  Besides, that it is still surviving  in its originally christened name as Maharastrawadi Gomantak Party is a big joke since merger issue of Goa with Maharastra came to an end with the victory for Goans in the Opinion Poll. MGP originally was formed also as as revolt against Bamonshai and Bhattkarshahi but now shamelessly it is gone into the hands of Bamon leadership. Where are the Bahujan samaz followers of MGP now?  Why they are become slaves of Bamon?

For minorities to vote for MGP and BJP is like committing suicide, it will be an act of self suicide.  Then what about independents?  Before voting them we must know that, if they are elected, they will remain independents only.

Who is left now?  Difficult to  decide.  Only the Holy Spirit to help me to make the right choice.

A.Veronica Fernandes.
