With all my humility I can rightly say that the activities and the
movements I did from Kuwait for the cause of Goa and Goans, none among the
Kuwait Goans has done, not even among the
expatriate Goans anywhere in the World, though to embark on such a path was not
unusual nor new to me earlier because in Goa before coming to Kuwait I was
deeply involved in my locality in organising activities be it on sporting arena
or political field or social activities. The affairs of my village and locality went
into the
hands of stupid and selfish people only after I left my village and went to
Kuwait. However, fortunately for me,
whatever movement or activity I started,
initiated and supported there was a mass support. The main reason for such a strong and the big
support was the confidence people had in me, first to work till success is attained and secondly there was not a single
paisa of misappropriation.
The major part of the strength for my movements was the people and my supporters, even my enemies supported my
movements knowing that my movements are for good cause. If it was not for the
support of my supporters, friends and colleagues, I would not be successful in
organising so many powerful movements such as Konkani Movement, Novem Goem
Daily Movement which I started when hardly I had a proper job, Konkani Heritage
Kuwait Movement to unify all the Konkani people residing in Kuwait and to help
the repatriation of maids, Goa-Kuwait Solidarity Center Movement to raise our
voice against the invasion of Kuwait and to demand liberation for Kuwait,
Freedom for the Kuwait’s POW’s Movement, for this I personally went to Delhi
and personally met all the top leaders of the top countries and the top World
organisations and submitted them the Memoranda requesting them to make some
extra efforts by putting pressure on Saddam Hussein to release the Kuwait’s
POW’s. All these superlative efforts I
did on my own initiative and on behalf of Goa-Kuwait Solidarity Center. Then for the direct Goa-Kuwait-Goa flight I
even went to Delhi on my own initiative and brought to the notice of the
Central Government leaders the necessity of introducing this flight and for the
promotion of our competitive soccer at Sour Grounds I left no stone unturned.
Besides, I have done so many movements and activities at smaller scale level.
lf by going back to three decades and think for a while how I
managed to do so much when I had so many
drawbacks, so many hurdles and so many deficiencies, I cannot get proper answer
yet I get the conclusion that my success was only and ONLY DUE TO THE STRONG
SUPPORT I HAD FROM ALL MY FRIENDS, COLLEAGUES, ASSOCIATES AND SUPPORTERS, very
many of them are still in Kuwait. And by personally phoning me occasionally and
others regularly they enquire about my health and well being. This is something great that they still remember
me and the days we spent together in organising different movements.
Four years back when I published and released my book “FROM COCONUT
TREES TO OIL WELLS”, all my friends and former colleagues who were still
working in Kuwait, spontaneously and very much voluntarily communicated to me
asking me to reserve them their copies or send thru anyone. They all indicated their love and affection
to me by voluntarily purchasing my book and promptly effecting the payment
knowing very well the amount I spent to prepare this book for which once again
I profusely thank them expecting the same type of support this time too. And above all I must salute a few more
individuals namely Domnick Araujo and Gasper Crasto who spared no efforts to
sell my book in big number and because
of their tremendous efforts I managed to sell over 300 copies of my last book in
Kuwait alone that made my position very comfortable.
