On 31st May 2014, Saturday, I saw the Tiatro “Tim Thikam
Sanddlelim” written and directed by DY. SP Sammy Tavares, at Mapusa starting
right in time at 3.30 pm. As announced
from the Stage by Comedian John D’Silva, the director due to a fall while
conducting the rehearsal was injured and given bed rest by the doctors. Though
due to his injury the director is unable
to join his troupe for this Show yet the entire troupe performed very well
without showing any defect due to his absence.
This shows the dedication and faithfulness of all the artistes including
of musicians to their work ethics and to the director. They all deserve highest
compliments.

This reminds me of one incident more or less similar in
nature. It was about 65 years back in
Bombay for the Tiatro of Minguel Rod who as usual was dead drunk before this
Tiatro and unable to walk to the Hall.
Having no choice he slept on the way at Cross Maidan and got up only in
the next morning when some of the people returning home after watching this
Tiatro woke him up when they saw him sleeping there. Though it was difficult to
stage the Tiatro without the presence of the director yet Minguel Rod’s top faithful
lieutenant Master Vaz if I am not mistaken, took the responsibility on his
shoulders and even without the script directed the Tiatro. Minguel Rod was
surprised, so also others, otherwise the Tiatro would remain as cancelled
leading to the chaos in the hall and financial loss.
The evergreen beauty Felcy seen above singing.
Like last time, this Tiatro “Tim Thikam Sanddlelim” also started with a “Bhogti Ghit” – Maria Mae Mogachi. Last time the song was “Jivitantlem Vadoll marta tedna mojea adharak pav” which was as understood beautifully rendered
from behind the curtain by the melodious singer Sonia Sirsat.

Like last time once again this time too the comedy part was nicely
played under the leadership of John D’Silva who was assisted by Sally and Saby
and all the three comedians did justice to their roles. However, showing signs
of going to the Toilet for Number One and Number Two looked a bit vulgar. It
looked rather indecent.
Seen above is the real beauty of the Stage: Sonia Sirsat.
“Tim
Thikam Sandlelim” refers to the children brought up in the Orphanages who
according to the director require our help. To know the rest, one has to see
the Tiatro personally and since it is a new Tiatro and scheduled to stage all
over Goa, I refrain from disclosing the story.
But according to me it is worth seeing and people in the Gulf must also
make a point to see this Tiatro when it is going to be staged there shortly, so also in other places in Goa.
Seen above are Chari & Sylvester
Well known songster Ancieto plays the role of a Police Officer
well with his attractive personality while Tari plays the role of a goonda
extremely well. Justine plays the role of a father very well and if he corrects
his delivery with perfect clarity he will surely come closer to the late great
Souza Ferrao. Felcy’s role as a mother was well enacted
except that her dress code wearing luxurious Sarees at home was not
appropriate. When at home one does not
wear posh dresses. Roma played her role
of a persecuted daughter-in-law very well, so also Sylvester Vaz as her
husband. Though a small role yet Cajetan
de Sanvordem played his role of a priest extremely well. As a daughter, Meeta
did justice to her role.
Seen above is Roma singing a Canto.
Like last time this time too this Tiatro lacked the necessary
punch in the Sideshow songs in the absence of political songs which according
to Tiatro tradition is imperative.
Inspite of this deficiency this part was fairly well handled by all the
singers namely Anicieto, Saby de Divar, Sonia Sirsat, Marcus Vaz, Lawry Travasso,
Sylvester, Tari and others.
Anicieto & Sonia Sirsat singing a Duet.
The
song rendered by Tari and Sylvester on the late Antonette de Calangute and
Rosalia is worth admiring so also the beautiful duet “Sezari” by Anicieto and
lovely Sonia Sirsat. The solo rendered
by Sonia Sirsat was also very beautiful and with her elegance, dignified personality
and baby faced looks gave an extra colour to this solo and her duet
with Anicieto as well.
As usual Lawry Travasso rendered an interesting solo
highlighting the danger of talking on Mobile Phone while driving. Saby de Divar’s solo was very well accepted
by the audience. With her beautiful voice and attractive dress code, Roma
rendered a nice “Canto” that brought an extra colour to the play.
