Yesterday night at
about 10.30 pm, I received 2 telephone calls using threatening and abusive
language against me for writing in this forum on vulgar tiatrists about their
vulgar acts on the Stage, one of the calls from the son and the other from his
father. The way they talked it sounded that they are the owners of this world
and they are capable of doing anything to me.
They think I am wearing ladies Bangles. I don’t know what they think of
themselves. Ultimately the father said
he will file a defamation case against me and I answered saying o.k. Meantime,
I have already informed to whom I have to inform, of these threatening calls by
both the tiatrists father and son duo. They both failed to accept the fact that
they being the public figures as Tiatrists their actions from the Stage are in
the hands of public scrutiny. They feel they are both omnipotent and as such
they are infallible. If they and Tiatrists like them feel they
cannot be criticized for their wrong doings then they should leave the public
forum of Konkani Stage.
Tiatro is a very good
part of our culture and since its birth it played a very productive role in our
society. It is partly because of the
Tiatro our society is changed for the good.
The effect of rigid caste system was minimized because of the Tiatro,
the arrogance of clergy was reduced because of the Tiatro, the inequality in
society was reduced because of the Tiatro. Likewise so many ills of society
were cured by the Tiatros.
About 25 years after
its birth, Tiatro enactment gone into the hands of corrupt and vulgar tiatrists
whom the Pai Tiatrist called as “ROSTAD TIATRISTS”. Because of this the audience became less for
Tiatros and elite audience stopped watching Tiatros. Then Minguel Rod came into
the picture and thru his Tiatros he brought total change in Tiatro audience
because Minguel Rod magnetized the elite audience to the Tiatro.
Still Tiatros are
dominated by third rate tiatrists who are promoting themselves by enacting
cheap and vulgar Tiatros and vulgar scenes, indecent and immoral songs. Thru this vulgarity these tiatrists are
killing this beautiful art of Tiatro initiated by Lucasinho Ribeiro. Since this
is the case every lover and promoter of Tiatros is duty bound to raise his or
her voice against vulgarity in Tiatros promoted by the vulgar Tiatrists. If we
do not put an end to the vulgarity in Tiatro then vulgarity will put an end to
Tiatro. And that will be the end of genuine Tiatro.
One of the reasons for
entering vulgarity in Tiatros is because some of the Tiatrists are deep rooted
vulgar without proper manner and discipline in life. How a drunkard Tiatrist can exhibit
discipline? What discipline one can expect
from a Tiatrist who was bought up by the hired mother when his own mother
deserted him? What discipline and
decency one can expect from a Tiatrist who is a habitual wife deserter and
living with a hired wife immorally? When
a Tiatrists live in perpetual vulgarity he will be a slave of vulgarity which
he will carry wherever he goes.
Even the Church leaders
must preach from the Altars the ills of vulgarity displayed by the vulgar
Tiatrists from the Stage.
