PALESTINIANS AND GOANS.

This year The State of Israel celebrates its 60th birthday. While the Israelis celebrate with pomp their 60th birthday the local Palestinian Arabs, Muslims and Christians moan the 60th anniversary of the death of their homeland. 60 years back, Israel was established in the land called Arab Palestine from where the Arab Palestinians were forcibly and thru terror and cruelty uprooted from their lands, homes and localities by the Jews who came from far and wide. Over a century back at Basel in Switzerland under the direction of the former British Prime Minister James Balfour initiated the idea of establishing the homeland for the worldwide scattered Jews. This homeland was to be done in the Promised Land called Palestine. They even cited the Biblical quote which says that the Jews are the chosen people. Chosen people by whom? By God? Can the JUST God do injustice to some and justice to others thru discrimination? God means justice and if He acts unjust towards some by giving preferential treatment to the selected few whom we call Jews then God is Unjust which cannot be. The Just God cannot and will never practice apartheid. God is JUST only and will remain so but to give twisted outlook to suit their needs, I feel Jews have played some negative role in drafting Bible in favour of them. Jews are the most culprit people who killed Jesus Christ and by the way who is Jesus Christ? He is the son of same God. I feel something is wrong here. In the name of Biblical quotation Jews are making us believe their own theory suitable for their own requirement on the basis of which they established a homeland for them 60 years back. This homeland for Jews came thru blood. The Jews of that era did all the cruelties towards poor and innocent Palestinian Arabs who were Christians and Muslims.

The State of Israel came thru a very clever and cunning move by the top Jewish leaders many of them were the terrorists and criminals of first grade. A century back following the Basel Meeting, thru a strong Jewish lobby of millionaires, ordinary Jews with ordinary background from Europe, Africa, America and other parts of the world where they remained scattered for centuries as cursed people, were sent to Palestine. When they reached Palestine, these Jews started purchasing Palestinian lands from the local Palestinian Arabs – both Muslims and Christians. The Palestinian Christian Churches also started selling their lands – like Confraria lands in Goa - to the Jewish immigrants. Gradually 60 years back the major portion of Palestinian lands thru these purchases went into the hands of Jews in Palestine which was under the authority of British. There is a saying “hit the iron when it is hot” and this is exactly what the immigrant Jews in Arab Palestine did with the clandestine nod of the British rulers.

With the help of guns, knives, swords and daggers, the Jews settled in Palestine revolted against the local Arabs and also against the British authority by killing innocent Palestinian Arabs. Mothers were raped and killed in front of the fathers, wives in front of husbands, children in front of parents. The stomachs of the pregnant women were cut and small babies were thrown on to the streets. Women’s breast were cut and played like tennis football. In this way all sorts of cruelties were perpetrated to frighten the Palestinian Arabs who had no choice but to surrender and run for safety. While they ran for safer places the homes of Palestinian locals were forcibly occupied by the Jewish settlers. And now in 60 years they are become not only the landlords of Palestine but also the owners of Palestine. Palestinians by nature were mild and open hearted people. Both Christians and Muslim communities in Palestine lived peacefully without any communal discord. They were cheated by the immigrant Jews and they were cheated by their own mistakes of innocence and selling of their own land and properties to outsiders. For this reason they are now suffering. I pity them.

What are we Goans doing in Goa? Like early Palestinians we are also selling rampantly our land and properties to non Goans who are becoming not only the landlords of Goa but they are becoming owners of Goa. Every successive Government of Goa since 1961 sided with non-Goans by allowing them all the privileges against the interest of locals. What British Government in Palestine did for Jews against Palestinians in the same manner Goa Governments did and now doing more for the non-Goans against the interest of locals. Our local Bhattkars mainly the Christians are selling their land in huge quantities to the non-Goans who are exploiting every inch of Goa for their benefits. The way early scattered Jews came to Palestine with bags full of money so too non-Goans are coming to Goa with lot of money and thru this financial backing they are converting Goa as their fathers’ property. The way early Palestinian Arabs were dwarfed by the mighty financial, educational, technical, professional and terrorist power of the Jews so too the mighty powers of non-Goans to dwarf the Goans. We are only dreaming by saying we are the best in money power, educational power, professional power and technical power but in reality we are nothing for this reason we are dwarfed in Goa in every segment by the non Goans.

The early non Goans who were welcomed to Goa were Malyalis mostly third class, crooks and traitors. The first criminal to be sent to the gallows in Goa after 1961 was a Malyali Kumar. These early Malyalis are so well settled in Goa that they are now become “hondrad Ghorzanvui”. There is a saying in Konkani “Sankvar boson-boson khuim ghanvkar zalet”. In the same way the early non-Goan settlers in Goa are become “ghanvkars” in Goa. The other early third class non-Goans who captured Goa were the Maharastrians who were welcomed to Goa by Khalap’s MGP Government headed by Bandodkar and later on by his daughter Shashikala. Both MGP and Congress are responsible for selling Goa to non-Goans.

Our Church is also very much responsible for not guiding Goans in the right direction. The land of Confrarias was rampantly sold to our enemies and to non Goans in the earlier days by the Bebde Pe. Vigars for the gifts of “Soreachi Battli” or Sex thereby denying the locals of the privileges to own cheap land for them. We are in the Gulf for the last so many years. During the last 60 years of our employment in the Gulf we earned thousands of petro dollars and when it was converted into rupees it turned out to be not only millions but billions. Where are these billions gone? Mostly in dead investment and into conspicuous consumption. If our Church had to advise Gulfies to invest in land and properties today much of our Goan land would have been in our hands and Gulfies would have been much more richer. Priests came to Kuwait and other Gulf places doing what? Asking what? Only donations for their projects but as far as I am concerned none of the priests visiting this area advised us to invest our petro dollar wisely. In fact they wanted us to give them donations only and because of this during the invasion of Kuwait we suffered so much financially. And when we organized our movement in Goa in support of Kuwait, like disgraceful “beiman” none of the priests especially those who enjoyed our hospitality and donations supported us. The biggest culprit and “beiman” was Fr. Freddy J. D’Costa who not only not supported our movement but on the contrary mocked at us.

With the help of our deposits in the Banks in Goa our enemies invested and became crore potis while we remained there only making external show of our “kichddi” wealth. Now time will come even for Goan Mundkar where he will find difficulty even to purchase the plot where his ancestral house is standing. While I write this I feel trembling because like Palestine Goa is going out of our hands. The non – Goans will finally make us slaves because they are ruthless. They have no love for Goans, on the contrary they hate Goans but they love Goan land to convert it into a pleasure place. Can we do something at least at this late hour? The Jews who are settled in Arab land of Palestine are now calling themselves as Palestinians. In this same manner tomorrow the immigrants settled in Goa and whom we call as Ghanttis will themselves as Goans.
