The country CHILE falls in the Latin American continent where the inhabitants are predominantly Roman Catholics. Being Roman Catholics, these countries come under the category of “Economically and industrially Poor Countries”. Catholicism kept these countries poor. Wherever there is Catholicism, there is more poverty. Catholicism in the words of the prayer taught by Jesus Christ and as followed by the Catholics more vigorously keeps the people at dormant level and NOT vibrant, NOT moving. These words in the prayer taught by Jesus Christ are: “GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD”. These words make the faithfuls to think only of today and sleep for tomorrow.
Philippines is the only country in Asia inhabited predominantly by Catholics but full of poverty stricken Catholics. In Goa Catholics are backward compared to Hindus. The economy of Goa is in the hands of Hindus who are playing a very dominant role while Catholics inspite of having so many advantages play second fiddle role at secondary and tertiary levels. Latin American and South American countries where Catholicism is a major religion are economically backward. Chile coming under Latin American continent naturally falls into the poor countries category.
Even though Chile is a poor country economically yet it has created a history first time in early seventies when Allende’s Marxist government came to power not thru Bullet but thru Ballot. Wherever communism came to power it came thru the power of Bullet by shedding blood but in Chile under the leadership of Allende, Communism came to power thru Ballot. That was the history in the World first time created in Chile. This government of Alende created terror in the capitalist world headed by the USA. Since USA became jittery, CIA fomented disorder in Chile till Allende’s Government was overthrown. Though USA succeeded in its dirty mission yet Chile created history.
Second time history CHILE created was just on 13-14 of this month when all the 33 MINERS caught accidentally in the underground were rescued without suffering any physical harm. In this rescue operation performed first time Chile made impossible possible though lot of assistance came from many parts of the World including NASA and other agencies. To make this operation a success the entire World joined together. The 33 Miners who went down about 7 hundred meters below the earth surface were accidentally caught underground without any communication for first 17 long days. During this long period everyone thought they were dead but no, they were all alive miraculously thereby giving us an evidence that Miracles are taking place now-a-days. Their Christian faith and thru the prayers of their dearest and nearest kept them alive till all of them were rescued from the underground on 14th of this month.
Scientific advancement made many achievements possible. The greatest achievement of mankind was the mission of Man Landing into the Moon in 1969. This mission gained success only because of the technological and scientific advancement human beings made. The second greatest achievement of mankind after man landing into the Moon was the Rescue operation of 33 Chilean Miners trapped underground for 69 days and their Landing on to the surface of the Earth. In 1962 before his assassination, the late US president John F. Kennedy declared openly that “before the end of this decade United States of America will land a Man into the Moon thousands of kilometers away from this planet” and finally it was done before that decade.
When Chilean Miners were tracked alive underground after 17 agonising days, Chilean authorities declared openly that all the 33 Miners will land on to the surface of the earth before the end of this month. With the help of technological advancement all the Miners were brought back to the surface of the earth by crossing thousands of feet. All these happened only because of the technological advancement.
While all the Miners undergoing traumatic time underground, the entire world was praying for their safety and safe return back. Though these Miners facing difficult time underground yet they kept their HOPE alive of returning back. It is this HOPE that kept them strong and alive. In this mission of RESCUING the 33 Miners, the Chilean authorities especially its President and Mining Minister played a very important role. They remained near the rescuing operation for 48 hours giving a booster for those Engineers and other technicians who were involved in this operation salvage. They did not make a big show of their presence there. They did not make unnecessary speeches there but concentrated in supporting all the Engineers and technicians involved in this mission. They also remained embedded to their HOPE of getting back all the 33 Miners alive.
Thank God and thank the technological advancement for the success of this mission. The joy and happiness of the 33 Miners was noticed when they embraced and hugged their dearest and nearest. These scenes were of great admiration which will always remain in our minds.
One of the Miners’ wife delivered a baby when baby’s father was still underground. He was longing to see his child and hoping to embrace and kiss his new born babe. Luckily his Hope brought him back to the surface of this earth to see his child whom he promised to name as ESPERANCE which means HOPE. Let all of us stick to our HOPE as the Chilean Miners did. With this success, the ratings of Chile on technological advancement gone very high. To achieve this feat, Chilean government spent millions of Dollars which indicates how much Chile care for its citizens. When asked this question, Chile's president said "it is worth spending such a huge amount in order to save the lives of its citizens. My admiration goes to Chile for giving highest importance for the lives ofits citizens.
