CATHOLICS SHOULD NEVER ALIGN WITH MGP.

This is in reference to the news item in Herald dated 25.12.17 under the title “MGP to unite, take minorities into its fold”.
 .
Minorities mainly the Catholics will not be the Catholics if they don’t disown the MGP because MGP since its  inception in 1962 always worked against the Catholics.  In fact one of the purposes of MGP was to sideline the Catholics from the mainstream by falsely labeling Catholics as major beneficiaries of Portuguese rule in Goa  I disagree with this view, in fact other than a few Catholics Bhattkars. overwhelming number of Catholics have not received any especial benefits from the Portuguese while the Hindu community have received.  For example, almost the entire commerce and trade was in the hands of Hindus.  The major mining industry was held by the Hindus, the import licenses for goods and commodities and other products were given by the Portuguese Government to the Hindus.

MGP when it was  formed used this ploy of defaming Catholics to keep them as non-entities. By telling this type of false stories to their hoi-polloi supporters, MGP has brain washed their supporters who had no proper knowledge of Goa and its history. The first CM of Goa, Dayananda Bandodcar who was like a curse on Goa, wanted to liquidate Catholics from Goa but overwhelming majority of Goans did not subscribe to this view. It was even wrongly propagated at the top of their voices by the MGvadis that Christians were responsible for bringing Portuguese to Goa. However, I must correct this wrong opinion by saying that it was a non-Catholic  Timoja the big man under Adil Shah who was responsible for the Portuguese conquest of  Goa. It was they who brought Portugese to Goa.

Secondly, MGP falsely projected Goan Catholics as pro-Portuguese while they along with the majority of Hindus were Pro-Bharati.  Here again I disagree with this view.  Goan Catholics were known to have opposed the Portuguese presence from Goan soil vehemently much before others could do this. Much before others could raise their voice against Portuguese rule in Goa, Goan Catholics like Abe Faria, Pintos Revolutionaries, Dr. Francisco Luis Gomes and many more have indicated their patriotism towards Goa by opposing Portuese presence in Goa. the only thing which was common between Portuguese and Goan Christians was the Catholicism.  But this common factor never made Goan Catholics to be dumb berfore the Portuguese.  In fact, the greatest freedom fighters of Goa were coming from the Catholic community and they got themselves involved in freedom movement with the genuine feelings for freedom for Goa and not like many others whose motto was to convert Goa into a Hindu Raj.  Those who stressed on the former ideology were not genuine freedom fighters but they were comunalists many of them have taken shelter in BJP now.

I hope all Catholics will subscribe to my view because as a young school going boy I know how much I have worked against this false tirade let lose by the Bandorkarists MGP and some of whom are still holding this view touching to their hearts because they are anti-Catholics. The MGP wanted to merge Goa with Maharastra not because they love Maharastra and Marathi but because they hated Catholics and to get Catholics dissolved among Maharastrians as unknon entiies.  The MGPvadis were not perfect in Marathi languge but yet they preferred Marathi because they knew when Goa is merged with Maharastara, the Goan Catholics will be totally at a loss for not being conversant in Marathi.  When Goan Catholics suffered MGPvadis enjoyed.  The MGPvadis total anger on Goan Catholics was because they could not bear to see the development Catholics have made in their life. Though the MGPvadis would also suffer under Maharastra and among Maharastrians yet they prefer this but by all means they wanted to see Catholics crying.  This is te deep rooted hatred MGPvadis have for Goan Catholics and this  hatred will never exit from the blood of MGPvadis.

In view of what I said above, we Catholics should be very careful in front of MGP which means “ANTI CHRISTIANS – ANTI  CATHOLICS”.

A.VERONICA'S FELICITATION OPPOSED BY CANDOLIM CHURCH.

On 14th August this year, the renowned Goan Tiatrist and Playwright Irineu Goanslves staged his Tiatro in Candolim at the entrance of the Church.  During the interval, Mr. Gonsalves called me at the Stage and felicitated me for the enormous work I did mainly from Kuwait for the cause of Konkani in particular and for Goa in general.  As the director of this Tiatro he had all the rights to felicitate me or for that matter anybody for which he need not require anybody’s permission since this felicitation was organized on the stage which was totally under his control.

While the felicitation was in progress on the stage some of the members of the different church groups  mainly the females tried to stop this felicitation by trying to push their male leader who was responsible for making arrangement to stage this Tiatro. Then according to my information these opponents of mine went to Pe. Vigar who though played coolly yet supported those irrelevant opponents of mine but ultimately nobody dared to fulfill his/her wish.

Now my question on this whole “tamasha” created by these useless people including the Pe. Vigar and those who are  involved in the Church to gain cheap prominence and also to those Donkeys who were asking “why feliticitate him, what was his help for the Church and Church School?”  My reply to these stupid people is this:  what I have done for Candolim Church and School none of you has done.  Only one incident I give: When there was a need of money to construct the upper floor of the School/Hall, I was requested to help the then Principal of the School to get him the  Visa to come to Kuwait to collect fund for this cause.  Because of my help in getting him the visiting Visa the then Principal landed in Kuwait and collected a huge amount from Kuwait.  When this incident happened none of these stupid people were existing in the Church area, they were kids then like the present Pe. Vigar who has to mature himself more if he wants to survive in Candolim  which is not Agacaim.

This news none of those useless people knows neither the Pe. Vigar who is just a “kalcho porcho potto” in my ancestral village of which he has to learn a lot before passing a comment on me.  My village is the only village in whole of Goa that is known to give birth to the world renown persons such as Abade Faria of whose type world is yet to produce another one and Pintos revolutionary priests who were the first in the whole of subcontinent to create a revolt against their own colonialist government.

My other question here is this:  Am I a migrant or non Goan in my village?  Was it a crime to felicitate me thus?  What was wrong in felicitating me the real son of Candolim whose contribution in the support of Goan causes, Goan language and Catholicism cannot be challenged by any of the expatriate Candoicar nor Goyencar?  They should have felt proud that their villager is felicitated for his good work and felt ashamed that this felicitation was done by non-Candoicar instead of by them or Candoicars. As a fatherly figure Pe. Vigar should have been judicious but he failed and even he will fail in the future because I find him now more volatile.  He must know that he is surrounded by the useless people involved in the Church affairs. Instead of directing their ire on me and waste their time they should go after those corrupt Catholic locals who are involved in immorality and other corrupt practices and yet they come to the Church and receive Holy Communion. These Church involved people and Pe. Vigar must do something to stop the concubinage Catholics are involved instead.

Because of the idiotic minded Catholics involved  in our Church affairs, more and more Catholics are leaving Catholicism and embracing other denominations which are mushrooming everywhere in Goa.  If our Church leaders have guts and grace of God then they will arrest the move of non-Catholic groups from taking our Catholics in their fold.  This is what my opponent on 14th August 2017 should stop and not me. I am unstoppable and you people are too tiny to stop me.

X'MAS CRIB AT OLD ARADDY - CANDOLIM.

In Candolim there is a small Vaddo known as Araddy.  50 years back there were hardly a dozen houses there but now there are over 200 houses which are built with the silent nod of the local Panchayat  by the new settlers known as Migrants whom  we  Gcans also  call  them as Ghanttis because they came after the invasion of Goa with the  Ghanttis of Bharat Serkar under the leadership of "fotting" Nehru. Among them there are many anti-Goans and anti-Chistians and they constitute a strong vote Bank for the candidates who is fighting against the interest of Goa and Goans. One of them even organised a hunger strike in support of Marathi and against Konkani, that means against Goans. They are against Goans in general and on Cristians in particular.  Most of these "bhaile" residing there are classified as  residents of New Araddy and they are also known as from Ghanntianchi Araddy. These Ghanttis say they are Goans just because they got Ration, Voting and oher Cards but they dont know that they are not genuine Goans because they are lacking in having genuine Goan culture, tradition, folklore, folsongs, folk tales, discipline and so many other aspects which are deeply ingrained in the blood of genuine Goans. But above all, they do not have the kindness and pity on others.

The following are the photos of Christmas Crib done by the genuine Goans residing in Old Araddy. This was organised under the expert guidance of our Goan brother Desmond Fernandes and his team of youth.

LOTTERY SALE BY DIOCESAN SCOOL TRHU STUDENTS

In the Herald  dated 17th of this month, on page No. 5, there appeared a news item which says: “Parents confront school head over lottery sale”. The incident taken place in Chandor where according to the report, parents of the students of St.Joseph’s Educational Institute, Chandor, strongly protested against the school for forcing the students to sell the Christmas Hamper Lotteries otherwise they will not be accepted back in the school.  The pressure on the students of selling these Lotteries was so high that some of these students even having no other choice started begging with the people to purchase these Lotteries.  The parents of the students reprimanded the School authorities saying “we are sending our children to the school to study and not to beg” and also not to sell these Lotteries.
I strongly protest over this type of policies implemented by our Schools mainly the diocesan.  Some time back in my locality our Diocesan school gave Lotteries to the students and put heavy pressure on them to sell these lotteries by all means. One school girl when she approached some young boys with a plea to purchase some lotteries, one of the boys said “Not some lotteries but I will buy the whole book provided you allow me to have sex with you.  Having no choice the young girl showed thru her body language, inclination to surrender to the lust of the boy who volunteered to buy the whole book.  But her friend and collegue prevented her from falling into the sin.

Likewise, during the same time in one household there were 3 students who were given 3 lottery books by the school and since these students coming from the poverty stricken parentage, they were along with their parents were shattered because they neither could sell three books nor were able to absorb these books for them by paying the money from their own pocket because they were very poor.

It  is very disturbing and disgracing on the part of our Dicocesan  schools and nuns convents too to act like leeches to suck the blood  of the poor.  I don’t know in what way they are following the path given by  Jesus Christ.  These schools are receiving lot of money as rent for the school premises from the government when the investment in the building of these schools from the diocese is Nil. These schools including from my locality were built thru the fund raised by the locals. Inspite of having such a vast amount in the kitty of diocesan schools, I can’t understand why these diocesan schools are taxing the people for more and more money?  Besides, the Churches attached to these schools are getting average 50,000 rupees as weekly collection.  Can’t they utilize some money from this fatty collection for any necessity instead of making the students beggars and whores?  Is this the way our Goa Church under the current Bishop Neri Ferrao dignify our children?

There is no transparency of where the money collected thru weekly collection is going. Some say it is going for the luxuries of the local priests such as purchasing of luxurious vehicles,  for drinks and for their mistresses. Some say it is going for the extravaganza of the Panjim Altinho where against Christian principles they live the life of feudal lords. !!   If this is correct, then can we respect these priests and bishop?  If you see the limousine of the big man of Altinho you will say that his Jesus Christ was born not in the stable surrounded by the animals but in the Palace with all the Worldly luxuries. Further,  time will come I think slowly the Church leaders will issue a statement saying that the Jesus Christ came from very rich parents with all the luxuries and befitting His status all the clergy and Bishops must live.  As it is the current Pope has come out with the changes in the prayer of Jesus Christ “Our Father” as if all those learned people running the affairs of the Church for the last 2000 years were idiots.

Meantime, my advice to the parents not to rely your children especially the young girls into the hands of priests who for the sake of money may even dole their young female students to those who sell out money and more money for the church run schools and activities. Many of the current priests are become worldly, they want to lead the life of Maharajas. Our Church in Goa is least bothered to provide protection for us, the Catholics when our Church is so rich.  What use our Church is making of its vast land and huge financial “pottlo”?  If at this moment our Church in Goa fails us then we as Catholic community will be failed.  Church as our guardian has to take responsibility for our protection in all respects because our enemies are making preparation to liquidate us and along with us the Catholicsm as well from our soil. But still I think our Church will never think something good for us, our Church will go on putting constant pressure on us to dole out money for them to do this and to do that. On the contrary our Church leaders and Clergy will say “makham kiteak poddlam tem”. This is happening because our Church is in the hands of Corrupt people. People must stop as a first step to put money in the collection tray on every Sundays and Holidays because this money is utilized for filthy luxuries by the priests who because of this money flow are tempted to indulge in sinful luxuries.

NEW AUDIO CD “SORGA SOUNSARCHI RANNI" BY SALVADOR SILVEIRA.

The recently released Audio CD “Sorga Sounsarachi Ranni” by Jet Speed composer Salvador Silveira from Calangute came to my hand and I found it worth listening.  All the 15 songs are composed by Salvador Silveira himself though they were rendered by besides Salvador Silveira, different well-known singers namely Lawry Travasso, Marcus vaz, Benny de Aldona, Pascoal de Calangute, Bushka, Alex de Calangute, Sucurro, Aniceto,Reagan others. However, the best song I liked was the one “Mati ani Dull” rendered by Alex de Calangute  very beautifully

Though all the songs are worth listening and enjoying too but a few among them are excellent such as: the title song Sorga Sounsarachi Ranni by Lawry Travasso, Palkechem Vizmit by Marcus Vaz, Devachem Utor by Benny de Aldona, sorginchem Sukh by Salvador Silveira and Pascoal de Calangute (duo) Dhorom by   Benny de Aldona and Sucor (duo) and a trio “Angoun” by Peter-Domnic-Valency, all these songs based on miraculous power of God and Our Lady of Vailankani. The others  one can enjoy are the duet “Ghorachi Chavi”  by both the beautifully voiced singers Aniceto and Bushka, “Cunhead ani Meunno” by Salvador Silveira and Pscoal de Calangute, Reagan and Bushka a duet “Mogachem License” and the last song “Oressaum” very beautifully rendered by Salvador-Bushka & Chorus.  Kudos to the lady who rendered “Segundo” for this song.

This Album is produced by Peter Farrao – Candolim while the musical score is provided by Neville Pereira.

WHAT IS THE MAIN ROLE OF THE PRIEST?

When the former Pope visited Columbia, he made the following statement:

“THE ROLE OF A PRIEST IS TO SPREAD GOSPEL FULL TIME WITHOUT INVADING OTHER FIELDS AND SECULAR WORK WHICH IS NOT YOURS NOR HAS BEEN INDICATED TO YOU BY YOUR BISHOPS”.

What we notice today is that the priests are more occupied in things which are secular in nature by neglecting the spiritual aspects of the faithful.  Almost every Pe. Vigar of almost every Church in our every village is seen holding the position of a Principal of the diocesan school attached to his Church.  When this is the case, how he will be able to devote his time and efforts to look after the  spiritual aspects of the faithful thereby fulfilling his main obligation as a Pe.Vigar? The job of a principal is a full time job and also very responsible needing total dedication without invading any other activity.  In my  village itself the moral fabric of the so many faithful is become corrupt which leads their souls to hell.  The duty of the priests is to save the souls from going into the hell.  But to do this the priests who are the guides and protectors of the souls do not have sufficient time to help the faithful to avoid the sin because the priests are more occupied in the secular work, as indicated above.

In my village during the living memory, only under the Pe. Vigarship of Pe. Nicholau Noronha the moral fabric of the local faithful was better protected because Pe. Nicholau Noronha as Pe. Vigar was strictly guarding the spiritual aspects of the faithful, during his time the concubinage in the village among the faithful was less rampant, the character of the local faithful was much better and those involved in serving the Church activities were more upright.   Pe. Nicholau Noronha was accepted by the locals as their fatherly figure because he proved with his sterling qualities and character  as the most adorable Pe. Vigar in our village. He was not involved in promoting secular activities but engaged himself more in the promotion of moral and spiritual aspects.

Today we see many of our priests involved in the promotion of education which is good but not as good as the promotion of spiritualism which is their main duty. Sports, Tiatros, Ballroom Dance, indulging directly in politics and private personal business - are these activities meant for the priests? Pe.Nicholau Noronha was directly confronting those faithful who were indulging in anti--Chrisian activities.  He went once to a lady who was living the life of a concubine and not only reprimand her but brought her back to her normal life.  Once he told in the strongest words to one local Panch member that he is harassing the locals in the Panchayat when they come for any help. When the same Panch member asked Pe. Vigar “who are you to question me when Panchayat does not come under the jurisdiction of the Church?”, shot back the Pe. Vigar saying “I am your father by virtue of being the Pe. Vigar and as a Catholic I have all the rights to stop you from going out of the way”.

In mid eighties, one Tiatrist Priest from Goa came to Kuwait with the letter of Goa Bishop Monsg. Raul Gonsalves to the Kuwait Bishop Mongs. Frances Mechallef, to stage his Tiatro in Kuwait Church Hall.  When the Kuwait Bishop saw this letter, he immediately sent a reply to Goa Bishop asking him, “why did you send your Tiatrist Priest to Kuwait?  To stage Tiatros? Is it the job of a priest to stage Tiatros?”  And further asking this question:  “What pastoral significance his visit is having in Kuwait?"

If at least half of the entire time our priests putting in the non-spiritual activities is invested in the spiritual aspects and in the pastoral work, today the moral fabric of our community would have been much strong.  We as a community in general are become corrupt, in politics most of the members of our community are become rascals and many of our Pe. Vigars and Pe. Curs are pampering them even from the Alter because these priests are recipients of the part of the bribes extorted by the criminal Panchayats from their customers. In business many of our community members are turned into unreliable crooks, first lass “chors and bamtte” thus giving a very bad image of our religion,  in social life we are very much vulgar where many of our females are involved in living a vulgar life because they made money as their God since they are not  thought by the custodians of our souls the real meaning of God as our custodians have no time to do this job because  they are more busy in devoting their time in non-spiritual aspects.

Additionally, we have so many lay groups namely Somudai, Parish Council, Legion of Mary, Charismatic groups and so many other groups but what is their substance? Some of them are in many cases most corrupt people involved in many un-Christian and illicit activities.  Because many of these people are become darlings of the Pe. Vigars and Pe. Curs and also the concubines of some of the Pe Vigars an Pe. Curs, they are ruling in a Hitlerian manner their respective Churches,  not to serve God nor the people but to boss over them because they love bossism since they are suffering from ancestral inferiority complex where they were always kept under the bondage of their Bhattkars and others.  It is mainly the members of some of these groups who are spoiling the peace in our community by doing more politics than serving the God and mankind.  The all round quality of these people is very poor, mainly they are from “hoi-polloi” background.  Qualitatively the people without family grandeur are not involving in this type of activities, these activities mainly confined to low grade people. Many of the locals who are cheap are involved in the Church activities because these activities give them a semblance of good character. Church is the good venue to gain cheap publicity and good character certificate when you are a bad person. Ultimately, these cheap people bring a very bad name to our otherwise excellent religion Christianity.  Many of the “Cheddio” are involved in doing the Church activities to suppress their ill deeds and some of these cheddios are kept in the Church circle by their P. Vigars who use them  as “Temple Girls”.

I think there must be some change in the working of our clergy who should be entrusted with the task of doing more spiritual work.

NEW AUDIO CD “GST” BY FRANCIS DE TUEM.

The most renown and the firebrand political singer of the current era of Konkani Stage Francis de Tuem recently released his 13th Konkani Album in the form of Audio CD consisting of 13 powerful songs all composed by Francis de Tuem only and rendered besides by him, also by Lawry Travasso, Marcus Vaz, Xavier Gomes and comedian Richard.  Musical score was beautifully provided by Joaquim D’souza and his troupe.

It is very difficult to say which is the best song among the 13 since all the songs are equally best.  But all these songs especially the political ones are composed with thorough research.  To compose such songs the composer needs to have full knowledge of the subject and that Francis de Tuem is having such a powerful knowledge was proved by the way he composed these songs.

The title song “GST” is such that it makes mockery of Modi for fooling the people of the country by sucking the blood of the poor by introducing the GST and also introducing Demoneytisation.

In the second song “Facebook and Whats app” Francis the Tuem laments the misuse of social media as it was informed thru this that Remo Fernandes died when this was not true. He said this venue should not be used for mischief.

The third song very beautifully and with serenity rendered by Francis de Tuem describing the life of Padr Agnel while the next song Modko a trio by Francis de Tuem-Lawry Travasso –Comedian Richard is worth admiring.

The next song on killing of Gauri Lankesh the renowned journalist in Bangalore was worth listening and worth admiring too. In this song Francis de Tuem describes how the fanatics are trying to silence the free voice. In the next song   “ Pordesantle Goenkar” Francis de Tuem raises the issue of giving the facility of dual citizenship to these Goans while indicating so many other countries are giving this facility to their citizens. In the next solo “Khuris” the singer Francis de Tuem raises the issue of Cross desecrating done recently and how the authorities made an scapegoat of an innocent person. The  “Beef” is the other song which highlight the dadagiri of BJP of controlling the eating habbits of the minorities.  Ram Rahim is another powerful song which gives full ugly account of the Head of the Ashram and how he was involved in raping the virgin girls under his command, in the name of his religious  belief.

The next song “Devosponn” by Xavier Gomes describes the ill effect of the transparent dress used by our ladies in the religious places just as the late Jacinto Vaz indicated in his solo “Nylonache Lugot”. “Hindu Rashtra” is another powerful song where the singer showed his condemnation against those fundamentalists who showed open discriminations on Christians.  The singer powerfully said that Chritians are also patriotic people and   how some of them have done a great job in the service of the nation. “Kalakaranche Sacrifice” in this trio Xaier-Marcus – Francis de Tuem describes how much sacrifices the Tiatists are doing in the promotion of this art.  Some of them have even acted in the Tiaros when their own people were declared dead and their dead bodies were lying in the Coffin at their residences.  This is a very interesting and informative song.

The next solo “Abghat” by Lawry Travasso describes the pathetic story of the picnickers who lost their precious lives while they were involved in fun and frolic during the Picnic.  And the last song rendered by Francis de Tuem “Fotting” describes Parricar as aliar.

According to me this is the best Audio CD of recent time and as such no Goan should miss it.  Congratulations to Francis de Tuem and his colleagues and Musicians to too.

NEW TIATRO "ALICIA' BY RAFAEL DE MAJORDA.

Seen above is the section of the attendees

Yesterday 13th of this month at Mapusa, I saw the new Tiatro written and directed by Rafael de Majorda, the Tiatro was well attended by a good number of attendees. The musical score for this Tiatro was nicely provided by Vitorin -Roy – Paklo - Telvin and co.  Though it was given to understand that this Tiatro will start at 6.30 pm but it finally started at 7.00 PM though  the attendees were not restless, they saw this Tiatro very peacefully. Normally in this hall Tiatros are held only on Sundays but this is the rare occasion it was staged on Wednesday proving everyone how confident the director was of filling the hall.

Milagres seen singing a solo on Fr. Gabriel

Rafael Fernandes  who is known as Rafael de Majorda is a fanatic Tiatrist and Tiatro lover as well as Tiatro promoter.  I know him in Kuwait a number of years where he was working and during his spare time he used to involve himself in staging TiATROS and introducing best of Tiatrists from Goa including Lorna.  In Kuwait he showed at least 3 Tiatros one of them was ALIZA.  All his Tiatros in Kuwait were “Housefull’ and thru staging of Tiatros he made a name and fame for himself though every Tiatro of his was for charity.  Before coming to Kuwait for employment, he also worked in UAE at Al–Ain where too he made a mark for him as a prominent Tiatrist by staging his Tiatros there. After working in Kuwait for about a decade, he joined the Cruise Ship where he is still successfully working and during his vacation time he stages his Tiatros as he  is doing now during his current vacation.

Michael Lobo seen addressing the adience

Seen Michael Lobo enjoying the Tiatro

The Tiatro Alicia was based on the betrayal of a girlfriend by her boyfriend when she was already conceived thru him.  It was very pathetic to see the illegitimate child developing during his younger period. So the misery of the mother of the child. The Tiatro was well performed by all the artistes, males as well as females though it was the first show.  In this Tiatros, as usual he introduced some of the new faces, namely Sapna Sarag, Damodar Kerkar, Liby, Master Ethan  and Valanka.  Andrew as usual gave his best performance in playing the role of a villain, his dress code and language nicely matched with his role.

Joe Frank once popular in Kuwait sings his solo

Comedy scenes were rather lengthy though both the comedians namely Ashton and Bladewin did their best.  The role of a younger boy Master Ethan  was excellent so too of his mother Sapna who being a Hindu woman excelled excellently in this Tiatro. Bernard as a boyfriend of Sapna played his part wonderfully. Liby too did her role of a “Bhattkarn”. Matha and Milagres as wife and husband and  Angela as doctor played their roles well.

Seen above Martha & Angela - fame of Sucurrina Tiatro

In the Side Show songs  the trio of Andrew, Marquis & Cajy de Kakora was well received by the audience, also the trio of Angela – Liby – J.P, so the solos of Joe Frank, Marquis Pereira, Tony de Ribandar, Stanley Nico Vaz (Anchor Prime TV), Marcus Vaz and opening solo of Anifa and her duet with Malister.  The solos of Frachita and of Sharon were also good.

Stanely Nico Vaz singing his solo

As a chief guest, Michael Lobo the MLA from Clangute Constituency and the Dety. Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly attended this show.  During his brief speech from the Stage where he was introduced to the audience by the director of this Tiatro Rafael de Majorda, Mr. Lobo showered praises on the Tiatro and Tiatrists for doing excellent job in the service of uniting Goans, as he said Tiatro is a very good venue for our unity. A flower bouqet was presented to him.

A scene where Milagre-Athon-Matha are seen

During the interval, Certificates  were given thru the hands of A.Veronica Fernandes who also on the request of the director spoke a few words on Kuwait based the late Fr. Gabriel Dias for whom Rafael dedicated this tiatro. Addtionally one special song was rendered by Milagres in praise of Fr. Gabriel.

TIATRO "AUM ZIKLOM" BY ALEXINHO DE MORJIM.

On 9th of this month at Calangute Porbavaddo to mark the feast of St. Francis Xavier, the Tiatro "AU ZIKLOM" was staged written and directed by Alexinho de Morjim and Lorna and organized by the local committee where Jerry Cal and others took lot of pains to bring this Tiatro on the stage.  During the last Tiatro festival organized by Kala Academy, this Tiatro bagged the second prize in the competition.

Olga seen singing her political solo

Just like a Philosopher Jerry Call singing his solo on Philosopher

It was attended by the capacity crowd in the Mattou but started it rather one hour late.  The story was well written and well enacted by all the artistes but the role played by Alexinho de Morjim as a Hindu was an excellent one with his typial Hindu style Konknni. The role of the small boy Frazer was also excellent, so too the role of the father - Cyril - of the drug addict son.

Local youngsters performing their Dance

Salvador & Pascoal singing their duo

One of the scenes

In the Side Show songs both the husband and wife pair - Anil & Olga - stole the show with a beautiful duet on IFFI and a highly political solo by Olga.  The duo rendered by the Jet speed composer Salvador and Pascoal de Calangute on Goans migrating to UK is worth admiring and the solo rendered by Jerry Cal on the ancient Greek philosopher Diogenes was highly intellectual and philosophical where like the Philosopher Diogenes, Jerry Cal also came with the small lighted Lantern of the type Friar Lawrence carried in the play “Romeo & Juliet by William Shakespeare,  during daylight only, in search of good leader in Goa. Peter de Arambol also sang well so too the beautifully voiced Bushan. Roque Dias also displayed his talent by singing few verses of his old songs.  Saby de Divar solo was political in nature but it contains self pompousness indicating vanity.

With her beautiful voice Bushan sings her beautiful solo

The above singer surprised everyone with his imitation of Alfred Rose

THE GREAT TIATRIST “ANTHONY D’SOUZA” SPEAKS TO A.VERONICA.

Anthony DSouza with his daughter Rita D'ouza

Anthony D'Doua

In the history of Tiatros, many Trios were formed but among them all according to my knowledge only two remained in the history books as the most powerful, one of them was the Trio of Kid-Young-Rod which was the first Trio in the history of that great magnitude and the second immediately following the first was the Trio of Conception-Nelson-Athony. The first later on was splitted when one member of it Minguel Rod was high jacked and formed a new Quarter comprising Alexinho de Candolim-C. Alvares-Minguel Rod & Jacinto Vaz.  But this Quarter did not last for long since Minguel Rod returned back to his original Trio. After their reunion, they rendered a nice trio song which was the perfect Zupatti to those who splittd them. Some of the words of this trio are as under:

“NESSON DUSREACHEM KAPODD, HATH PAEM KAMRUN BOSLEAT MAKODD
KITEAK POROT EK ZALET MHONON KID-YOUNG ANI RODD”.

The first Trio was formed during the golden period of Goa when Portugal was ruling Goa efficiently while the second Trio was formed soon after when the rotten period of Goa began on 19.12.1961 under the Bharati domination of Goa.  The worst disastrous period of Goa started following the invasion of Goa by Bharat serkar without taking into confidence the people of Goa.

Annoyed by the disastrous rule of Bharat serkar, the second Trio was formed in 1962 to carry forward the political campaign against the corrupt rule of invaded Government. The first Trio song of this Trio was “Brasilak vochoya” where they indicated that Goa is gone into the hands of corrupt people who will do nothing good for Goa and further making a prophecy that even the jobs for Goans will be denied in favour of non-Goans.  For this reason this Trio  suggested to Goans to go to Brazil because then Goans were well conversant in Portuguese. Later on this Trio started its political campaign against MGP headed by that Rostad, the first Chief Minister of Goa, Dyananda Bandodcar who happened to be a curse on Goa and Goans because he fought for Goa’s merger with Maharastra and for Marathi  as official language of Goa.

ONE OF THE POWERFUL MEMBERS OF THIS TRIO WAS ANTHONY D’SOUZA whose full, real name is Antonio Inas Joao D’Souza and who was a few days was spending some days in Candolim at Muddo with his daughter Rita D’Souza married there. During this time on one fine day, on 14.1I.17, I took an opportunity to interview him for which both he and his daughter easily agreed.  I Thank them for this kind gesture.

According to Anthony D’Souza, it was the great Tiatrist Alexinho de Candolim who first time introduced him in his Tiatro at Mapusa Bairao Hall, organized by Mapusa Police Station where he rendered his own two duets which he rendered with one Minguel Noronha. For this he was paid voluntarily Rs 100/- by Alexinho de Candolim, this amount was too high at that time and it really surprised him even though he was reluctant to accept it.

He was born in  Cortalim, Primeiro Vaddo, at his father’s place on 28.03.1936 and brought up at St. Jacinto Island where he did his schooling at Parochial School and where he turned out to be an exceptionally talented Choir boy singing well not only in the local  Church but also in the neighboring villages and even singing the Veronica song.   Hence, from early age he acquired name and fame for him as a very good singer that attracted everyone’s attention towards him.

During Portuguese time in Goa in the late fifties he joined with another great Tiatrist Nelson Afonso to sing duets as Nelson was playing the role of a girl. During that time from the Stage Anthony D’Souza was fighting for justice against those who were treating the Mundkars and the poor very badly.  In one of his duets he sings thus, in 1958:

“ANTHONY; TE XEKDDE SOMPON KOBAR ZALET GHORIBANK KORIT TIM KETTAM
BATTACHO VALOR KITLO TO SANG  HANGACH RAVON GHETAM.

NELSON AS BHATTKAR'S DAUGHTER: TUZO PAI AMGUER ZOU FODDUNK ETA TEDNA KITEM TEM DAKOITAM

ANTHONY: PAI TUJER KURADD MARUN CABES TUJEM AKTAK  KORTA TATA”.

After the invasion of Goa he, Conception and Nelson Afonso formed their famous trio and during their first singing at Mapusa they were arrested along with KID boxer for his solo, they were arrested because they rendered “zupatti” to government of india for making a hell of Goa.

He had hunger for fighting for justice especially for Goa and since MGP of Daananda Bandodcar was doing injustice for Goa he directed his tirade against MGP by composing piercing “zupattis” to MGP and Bandodcar. So much so, Bandodcar was more  afraid of this trio than all the 12 members of UGP. in fact the trio songs composed by Anthony were more piercing and were unbearable for Bandodcar to absorb. This Anthony D’souza and his trio was largely responsible for campaigning and educating the masses against MGP and Bandodcar.   This trio was responsible for safeguarding the interest of Goa more than many and partly because of this Trio campaign from the Stage against merger of Goa with Maharatra, we the genuine Goans won the Opinion Poll.  Besides, this Trio brought more honour, more respect and more dignity to Tiatros and Tiatrists which was not existing earlier.  It is partly they who were responsible for wooing the upper segment of Goans for Tiatros. His one trio song “XIKKO MARLO PANALA ANI DOPKO DILO FULALA”, in praise of the victory of Opinion Poll was so powerful that such a song I never heard before nor later. His other interesting trio song was on the death of “SALAZAR” which openly declared the greatness of Salazar who ruled Portugal for a long time.  From the three, one member of this Trio is surviving that is,  Anthony D’Souza who was more firebrand among the three and this being the case he should be felicitated on behalf of Opinion Poll Victory group for helping the victory of Opinion Poll.  It is something different when we pay our fitting tributes to the person concerned when he is alive rather than after his death.

THOUGH ageing he got reasonable memory of the past events but feels hurt that his songs are not aired at All India Radio Panjim.  He asked me why this injustice to him even though he produced 4 Konkani Albums namely (1)Fr. Savio. (2) Mother Teresa (3) Gandhi Jyanti and (4) AlvernazAlmao. The same query I put in front of all his admirers requesting them to do something for this because we cannot ignore his one wish when he did so much for Goa. He is very thankful to Manfa Music for helping him to produce his Albums. So too he is grateful to Churchill Alemao for his assistance.

According to his approximate estimate, he composed 500 songs, namely Solos, Duets, Trios etc.  According to him, “To Bautto  Dhormancho” Tiatro written and directed by Alexiho de Candolim was the best while “Doia” Tiatro by Aristedes Dias was something unique of which type nobody can write now, so too the Tiatro “Divorce” of Aristides Dias only. Commenting on the vulgarity shown in the Tiatros in acting, singing and in expressions, Anthony indicated his total dislike for this vulgarity which he said during his time was not in existence.  He further said, by just standing on the Stage, the ace comedian Jacinto Vaz used to produce peals of laughter in the audience.  But current artistes especially the tin-pot comedians who are of questionable parentage and those without proper parental car, guidence and discipline are the real culprits in this vulgarity because they lacked parental care at home when they were young.  The following of these dirty comedians are also the dirty audience who applaud this type of vulgarity.

The other disgust of his was against Parricar for taking courage to cancel the Holiday on the Feast day of St. Francis Xavier. Seeing the injustice going on in Goa and corruption at all the levels and spreading communalism in Goa thereby hurting the sentiments of the minorities, his blood boils but time is not in his side to take up this issue forcefully on the Stage.  Thinking over this, his revolutionary self is getting aroused once again but his time to raise his voice on this topic is finished.  However, he still feels that some Tiatrists will take up this type issues very forcefully.

He is all in praise for the yesteryear Tiatrists who according to him were gifted with all the qualities to be Tiatrists and precisely because they had such sterling qualities they kept this Tiatro Art still alive. Elaborating further he said during those days and even during his time there were not many facilities available as they are available now. He quoted during those days in the absence of electricity Tiatros were staged with Petromax and in the absence of elegant Halls Tiatros were staged in the Mattou; during those days the Tiatrists were travelling to participate in the Tiatros thru the Caminhao and at moments even on Cycles with meager payment.  The earlier Tiatrists made Tiatros as their hobby while it is a business now and for that matter a lucrative business for many of the Tiatrists who built their empires either small or medium ones. Most of the current Tiatrists are financially stable.

As a strong political thinker, Anthony D’Souza took lot of interest in Goan politics even to the extent by contesting the elections for the Seat in the local Panchayat where he completed three terms successfully.  Though he completed 15 years in  his local Panchayat as one of the Panch members but he never did any mischief nor bribery nor harassed any of the locals as it is done by many of our Panch members who otherwise think that they are feudal lords when actually they are tin-pots. He is very much disgusted with the BJP rule where he said he was totally disturbed to see the way the BJP formed its government in Goa when they did not receive the majority.  He said he prefers Congress rule for the smooth functioning of secularism properly in Goa adding further that Parricar is a splitter.

According to him, the best singer among the current ones are Xavier Gomes and Lawry Travasso while among the former M. Boyer, M. Dod de Verna and Luciano Dias.

Though old age is reflecting on his health yet I wish him good health and all the best.  With my head down I pay my highest respect to this great Tiatist of yesteryear who has served Goa, Goans and Konkani language as very few did.  Will we get another like him?  I doubt because such artistes comes to this planet only once in centuries.  And if I do my right forecast, I think such a Tiatrist we will never get again.
