Pradeep Naik as a Priest
Yesterday, on 1st May,
2015, in Panjim at Kala Academy Hall, at 10.30 AM, I saw the Tiaitro “PICNIC”
written and directed by the ace Comedian
Agostinho Temudo. According to me so far what Tiatros I saw in this season,
PICNIC is the best Tiatro, storywise, directionwise, castwise and even Side
Show songswise. Every artiste played his
or her role very well but the major credit goes to lovely looking youthful Jessica
who played very appropriately the role of a young Hindu girl. Her Hindu Konknni was very typical of a Hindu
girl so also her perfect dress code and action.
She deserved highest compliments for the total success of this Tiatro
since she was the centre of attraction. Opposite to her as her Christian boyfriend
the role played by attractive Willie was worth admiring. Their match was perfect on the Stage.
Jr. Nelson singing the best solo
The role of a Priest
played by complete artiste Pradeep Naik was super, being a Hindu himself he left
no stone unturned to make his role a very genuine. Comedy Queen Jannet this time played a hidden
comedy role by playing a character role of an old woman by disguising her
original self. Such perfect roles
earlier played by Filomena Braz in C. Alvares’ Tiatros. Jannet being witty
brought an extra colour to this role.
Director Agostinho gave an added booster to the play by expressing in
his own sarcastic style the wrong doings of the current politicians. His political statements were sarcastic and very witty. Majestically attractive
Dolla dazzled the crowd by playing her beautiful role of a mother.
Lovely Jessica with Joe as her father
This Tiatro is of very
high political standard and only politically intellectuals can pen down such
scripts. Comedian Agostinho has got that
specialty. His Political statements were very logical and meaningful normally uttered by political scientists and not by ordinary politicians. Once during his stay at my
place in Kuwait when we brought him for our Show, I found him to be very well versed in Goan
politics and this expertise he releases in Picnic which is nothing but
political game of the Goan politicians.
His reading habit is very much displayed in this Tiatro when he
discloses great inventors and great men and women. Among
all the visiting Tiatrists resided at my place in Kuwait, I found Agostinho
alone was mad after reading especially local and Goan Dailies to get more knowledge. And he is knowledgeable.
Duet of Jannet and her husband
In this Tiatro
Agostinho also shows how deep rooted communal are we and because of this we are
persecuted by the fanatic Hindus while our Christian MLA’s and Montris remain
idle to save their positions. I think
Agostibho should re-release this Tiatro before the coming election so that BJP
is totally exposed.
Seen are Comedians Selvy & Agostinho
The comedy part was nicely handled by both the top comedians Agostinho and Selvy and both of them were ably supported by comedian Jannet.
Trio of Willie-Joe-Jr. Nelson
In the Side Show songs,
Jr. Nelson’s solo on the contribution of Goan Christians in the process of
liberation of Goa is beautifully highlighted.
Fanatic Goan Hindus especially from BJP camp and Nagri Konknni camp must
listen to this song. This is very
historical song of which type and standard nobody in Goa rendered. He must preserve it in the form of a CD. The duet of Jannet and Philip was worth
listening on Priests. The quarter of
Dola-Malina-Jannet-Jessica on Delhi rape was excellent so also the Trio of
Willy-Joe - Jr. Nelson on Goan politicians. Bernardo de Aldona’s solo imitating
Rosario Rodrigues, Boyer and William de Curtorim was good. So also his other solo.
Quarter of Dola-Malisa-Jannet-Jessica
Well done Comedian
Agostinho and his troupe including Musicians. This Tiatro is the need of the hour and of the time.
