SORRY ZICO, YOU ARE TO BE BLAMED.

According to the newspaper report today, Zico said “Goa lacked potent striker” and because of this Goa lost in the three encounters”, making an especial mention to the loss against Pune.  With due respect to Zico’s foot-balling prowess, I disagree with this statement. It was Zico’s duty to create one in the front line if there is none in which case it was also his duty to search for a suitable one and induct him in the team.  Normally, front liners are bound to be good strikers and unless you strike hard you cannot fit in the front line.  What was missing in the Goan team was the killer instinct among the forwards and strong will to hit powerfully from inside and outside the box.  Our players went on passing the ball to each other even in front of the goal instead of taking long shots.  Only Santos tried this with his left foot.  As a coach it was Zico’s duty to instruct his forwards to aim at the goal instead of dribbling and exchanging passes from inside and outside the box.
Zico followed the same method of his Coach Tele Santana in 1982 World Cup when  Brazil squandered so many chances of scoring sure goals because they went on passing the ball among themselves instead of shooting the ball into the goal.  “Jogo bonito” is good to entertain the spectators and make the game interesting but finally what it counts is score.
During his peak form in 1966 World Cup, when questioned, the great soccer wizard of Portugal,  Eusebio answered thus: “Inside the box when I get the ball I don’t think of passing the ball to my colleague but to hit hard towards the net”.
Zico during his hey days was a great footballer but great footballers do not necessarily make great Coaches.  As a coach Maradona failed and likewise many more.  The success of the coach depends on the quality of the players he is having.  Zico when he was entrusted with the task of coaching the Goan team he should have analysed the weak area and accordingly acted to infuse proper blood into the team or request the team management to give him suitable replacement to fortify the weak area.  It is useless now to shift blame on here and on there.
Having said that, I must admit that Zico has brought great changes in the Goan team for its betterment even though Goa lost important encounters which we have to accept sportingly.  In the long run the game of soccer benefited with its vast improvement.

MIGRANTS AND THEIR "DADAGIRI".

After successfully organizing the Rally and public meeting in Candolim on Saturday, 18th of this month, against the dadagiri of the migrants, somebody asked me “what benefit you people got by shouting on the street in Candolim?” “Bobo marun kitem melta tumkam”? My reply to such negative thinking people who are the living worms among us was this: “Bobo marun kaim mellona pun ogui ravon tori kitem mellta”?  At least by shouting there is a chance to gain something but by keeping silence you will never gain anything. We have people among us who will do nothing for the cause of society neither will they do anything good, on the contrary they will only discourage others from doing something good.

Candolim village is unique in Goa, in India and in the world in the sense that it produced unique sons of this planet, they are Pintos and Abade Faria (Jose Custodio de Faria) in the same Vaddo called Pintos Vaddo where the public meeting against Migrants’ dadagiri was held on 18.10.14.  Abade Faria was born in Pintos Vaddo Candolim and he was the world renowned Hypnotist and the Pintos were the people from the same Vaddo that created Pintos revolution first of its kind in India against the foreign power rule over our land. Pintos and Abade Faria were renowned revolutionaries who daringly fought for the cause of freedom and justice.

In this same Pintos Vaddo, there was another daring man whose daring act in Kuwait somewhere in 1958 at KOC Center, Ahmadi, drew the attention of Portugal and its premier Salazar, so also of other European powers towards politically intellectual mind of Goans.  The name of this man was Antonio Maria Fernandes (Lapit Anton) while working in Kuwait for Kuwait Oil Company, on the National Day of Portugal, he collected some Goans and BOLDLY hoisted the Portuguese Flag and rendered the National Anthem of Portugal in the KOC Compound in the presence of people from different parts of the world employed at KOC.  The next day this news flashed everywhere and thus Anton got instant publicity especially in Portugal and in its colonies even drawing the attention of Salazar and British Throne.

The beauty, the peace and the greatness of Goa was destroyed by the non-Goans especially the lower level who descended on Goa immediately following the annexation of Goa by the Bharat Serkar. In fact most of the non-Goans who are coming to Goa since 19.12.61 are of third rate  with very low human character.  The first brutal twin murders committed on Goan mother and her child at Taleigao was by a non-Goan migrant labourer from Kerala,  Kumar by name and he was the first to be hanged in Goa at Aguada, in 1979.

These migrants rejected in their States come to Goa as slaves in search of better avenues and income and soon become masters of the places where they reside.  There is a saying in Konkani, “sankvar  boson – boson khuim ghanvkar zalo”.  This is what it is happening to these migrants.  In Candolim at new Araddy  there is one full tribe of them and during their Hindu Festivals they display their dadagiri by firing crackers at the residential places of the original locals thereby provoking the locals to confront them and thus create a Migrants – Locals clash. During the last Ganesh immersion procession, to show their dadagiri, the New Araddi migrants started firing not only Firecrackers but also  the “Gonnal” and “Suring” at the doorsteps of the locals by ignoring the pleas of the locals not to do the same, to prevent fire catching the houses of the locals.  This dadagiri of the migrants went to so far that one of the Ghanntti migrants was telling the other to throw the Firecrackers and “Suring” on the small Chapel situated close by there.

These migrants are preparing to wield a strong power in them in their respective localities like in New Araddi, Candolim where they are a strong group with strong money and muscle power.  The financial power of the migrants living in New Araddi is very strong, there are migrants living there who are driving posh cars.  They are made citizens of the locality with all the legal documents by the local politicians who are ruling the village. The migrants in Goa are a serious threat to the locals  but our local politicians do not care for these threats.  In every village where there are pockets of migrants there  are bound to be notorious migrants taking shelter there.  These migrants are even given voting rights in Goa without canceling their voting rights in the places from where they came. It is all because of the corrupt politicians.  Some of the worst politicians of Goa are from Candolim who are living a sinful and luxurious life by extorting heavy bribes for any local government job.

If Candolim villagers want peace in their village then they must dislodge the corrupt local bribe prone politicians some of whom are become crorepotis by extorting bribes for the government services they render for the people.  They are so shameless that they don't even feel shame to ask for bribe.  Some of these disgraceful politicians coming from disgraceful family background till yesterday were living like beggars but today they own Bungalows and other rich amenities by robbing the innocent people.  And on top of it they are performing religious rites in the Church like saints and such fake saints are good friends of the local priests. Because of such priests Believers and other sects are mushrooming in Goa.

Coming back to the migrants’  dadagiri, they are in the process of dictating terms to us even  for their daily wages.  Shortly they will boss over us with their physical might and act just as Nigerians did in Porvorim last year by calling their colleagues scattered all over to slaughter the locals.  The same thing will happen in every Goan village where the migrants are settled in big number like in Candolim and Calangute.  For this reason and to prevent the dadagiri of migrants the locals in every village must form a vigilante group linking these groups to every other such group so as to be a help to each other if there is any need at any time. As on now the villagers of Candolim has given a good lead and example for others to emulate but for their success the politicians in their localities must be kept out just as Candoicars did otherwise with their ulterior motives the politicians will destroy these groups.

The quality and the character of the migrants and other non-Goans are very ugly.  They are ruthless and hard hearted. They are morally corrupt, they don’t possess basic discipline and they are uncultured and uncivilized though exceptions are there.  They speak harsh language like “Sala Banchot” and “Chaku dalenga” and when time comes they put Chaku in your stomach and disappear from Goa in Konkan Railway which is a safe escape route for such people.  It is from this non-Goans influx into Goa after 19.12.1961 that Goans have learnt all the bad habits and finally gained superb mastery.

Coming back to the Candolim Rally on 18th of this month, during the meeting it was announced that “if the government does not take the necessary action within 10 days to control the wages of migrants, this movement will spread all over Goa”.  Hence, it is time now for the organizers to honour their word and move ahead as promised.  Otherwise, the local corrupt politicians as informed will destroy this movement for their selfish end. As it is, as per my information,  some local politicians with their ill gotten wealth are on prowl to purchase some of the persons involved in organizing this movement.  The outcome will be known soon.

GOA LOST AND SOCCER WON.

It was a wonderful  football match yesterday between Goa and Kolkatta and the proceedings of same displayed there were vast improvement in Indian soccer, thanks to the induction of some non-Indian oldies who are past of their prime though still going strong.  Their presence in this tournament in fact in reality changed the standard of Indian soccer and also the mindset of the spectators and viewers who are glued to their TV sets watching the games of their favourites. Besides the involvement and presence in the Stadia of the celebrities namely Bollywood Stars, Cricketers and the Business Magnates gave a strong booster for this tournament  to further the promotion of Indian soccer.  The first step taken this season by the organizers will surely pave the way for the better days ahead for Indian soccer which will definitely improve vastly.

For better results the teams in the next season must make extra efforts to rope in some of the top footballers from Europe and South America even by spending some extra money if there is benefit for the improvement of Indian soccer standard and I am sure there is going to be benefit.  If necessary, FIFA’s assistance should be sought to help recruit top world class players on loan basis for a short period to make the sleeping giant awake in soccer.

Zico is not a God to change things for Goa team within a very short time even though he changed the standard of Goa team a lot as seen from the level of the game yesterday played by the Goans.  They had more possession of the ball, they had better control of the ball, their passing was more accurate thru the available gaps, their feinting techniques were vastly superior, their ball control was better and their stamina was enormous.  They had everything in their favour to win this encounter except luck just as Zico’s Brazil team of 1982 World Cup trained by that genius coach Tele Santana had everything in their favour except luck otherwise the Italian team trained by Enzo Bearzot and dominated by the newly resurrected Paolo Rossi would never win that crucial encounter against the mighty Brazil when the great white Pele played an heroic role.  If it was not for the two missed chances in the second half, yesterday Goa would surely get the maximum points.

The Goan team was also unlucky for not getting a Red Card to Fikru when he clearly head butted Goan defender.  If the American Referee was a bit strict he would have shown Red Card to Fikru and  Kolkatta would be in a weaker position thereby Goa getting into better position to win this match. All the three goals scored by Santos of Goa and Cavin of Kolkatta were excellent deserving highest accolades. However, the second goal scored by the Goan boy from Cancona for Kolkotta against his motherland Goa was more beautiful.  Cavin a rejected stone by his team for earlier matches finally turned out to be the cornerstone in yesterday match.  No doubt spirited Goan team lost the match but standard of Indian soccer won a lot.

CRIMINAL INJUSTICE TO KONKANI.

Since the time of exit of Portuguese from Goa  I have been promoting the cause of Konkani, first as a small school going boy and later on as a young man from Kuwait.  When the issue of Statehood for Goa became known to prevent merger of Goa with Maharastra, fighting for the cause of Konkani became imperative.   When I went to Kuwait in 1975, the first movement of mine was for the cause of Konkani and that was to establish a Konkani Daily owned by the people.  The late Evagrio George was my link who was the man on the field in Goa.  All the earlier Roman script Konkani Dailies lacked the required funds to sustain and failed. Uzvadd was surviving on fringe but it was owned by Chowgules who were pro-mergerists and pro-Marathi. While busy in campaigning for starting of one people’s Romi Konkani Daily, suddenly I got the news that Evagrio George met with an accident and died.

Immediately then Gurunath Kelekar a freedom fighter, a staunch lover of Konkani and the editor of Romi Konkani Weekly "Goencho Mog" from Margao initiated his movement in Goa under the banner of Novem Goem Pratishtan (A trust) to establish a people’s Daily in Konkani in two scripts – Romi and Nagri.  For this project some of the Trustees along with the supporters of this cause travelled on foot all over Goa asking donation for this project.

According to all the learned NGP Trustees comprising Doctor, Lawyers, Journalist and activists,  all selected by Kelekar,  the budgeted amount required for this project was Rupees Five Lakhs.  Once one lakh was collected they promised to start first the Romi Daily and when the collection reaches to 5 lakhs, the Nagri script Daily would start.  This was the written assurance NGP given to the public and this view in mind they went all over Goa for money collection, this Yatra lasted for about a month.

Since Kelekar was aware of my move for the people’s daily thru the late Evagrio George before his death, Kelekar asked me to support NGP which I immediately did by forming a new association in Kuwait known as “Novem Goem Pratishthan Kuwait Somiti” to raise funds for NGP project.  The Kuwait Somiti was formed with highly influential and intellectual Kuwait Goans  of which type are not existing now in Kuwait.  Mr. Alexander Menino Fernandes from  Colva was also responsible in the formation of this Somiti which was headed by one senior and highly reputed Goan,  A. B. Fernandes also from Colva.  Me as an initiator was appointed as Jt. Secretary along with Alexandre M. Fernandes.

Then we as a team worked very hard to raise funds for this cause first by contributing money from our pockets and then from others thru donations and also  by organizing Tiatros.  Within a short time we managed to collect one lakh which we sent to NGP, Goa and later on more.  The final amount we collected from Kuwait for NGP was a little less than 5 lakhs of rupees. This was our money from Kuwait alone but besides Kuwait, donations came also from other parts of the Gulf and elsewhere, however the Kuwait donation was much higher.

To raise the fund in this way  from Kuwait we the then Kuwaitcars worked day and night doing extreme sacrifices even putting our jobs and other facilities into problems, inconvenienced our personal and family life because to struggle to raise such a huge fund in a country like Kuwait where the local laws are so rigid is very difficult, especially during that particular time. But we all did it for the cause of Konkani.  Inspite of doing so much what was the result?  Not only Romi Daily NOT survived but Nagri Daily never realized even though we from Kuwait itself sent the required money as budgeted by all the educated trustees of  NGP.

It is very much hurting to write here that NGP trustees frittered away recklessly the people’s money by fighting among them like Cats and Dogs.  They failed miserably to maintain the trust people invested in them by acting irresponsibly. If it was their personal money they would act very cautiously but since it was from the public they made wrong use of it. In the bargain we from Kuwait lost our credibility in front of the people while thru NGP movement some trustees gained foothold in public life.  The two main trustees Dr. Rebello started accusing Kelekar and Kelekar to Dr. Rebello. In the bargain not only NGP came into extinction but with it the great ideal behind NGP also came into extinction thru the Criminal Injustice to Konkani Cause.

After NGP move, in coordination with the late  Mathanay Saldanha, I, as proposed by Mathanay, was to go to the Goans in Kuwat again with an idea of purchasing Goan land for Goans only thru their contribution just as we did for NGP.  The time was very ripe then to venture into  this project but when NGP failed us on Konkani front I felt shy to approach our people in Kuwait again and thus our second project of purchasing Goan land remained unfulfilled otherwise a good portion of Goan land would remain in our hands instead of going it into the hands of Delhivalas and other non-Goans who are become big Bhattkars in Goa.

TIATRO "SUKHANT TOXEM DUKHANT" BY PRINCE JACOB.

Yesterday, 17.10.14, at Panjim Kala Acdemy Hall, at 7.30 PM, I had the opportunity to watch Prince Jacob’s latest Tiatro “SUKHANT TOXEM DUKHANT” which was attended almost by the capacity crowd.

Opening Song

It was an excellent Tiatro, well scripted and very well enacted by all the artistes but especial mention must go to the veteran and still attractive Annie Quadros whose role as a devoted and faithful wife was spotless. Opposite to her as her unfaithful husband Jose played an equally appropriate role and as their school going daughter, kudos to youngster Sonia for playing a magnificent role at this young age. Bright future is in store for her on Konkani Stage.  New entrant in this troupe Valencia did right justice to her role with her attractive presentation and appropriate acting.
Seen Annie Quadros singing her solo

Comedy roles were beautifully handled by Humbert, Prince Jacob and Hazl  who nicely and appropriately synchronized into the bracket of two well known comedian brothers. She showed all the smartness and caliber to rise to the occasion and in fact she did rise.
One of the scenes

The central idea of the story reverberate the words the newly married couple utter in the Church at the time of their marriage to remain firm to each other thru thick and thin – “SUKHANT TOXEM DUKHANT”. But do they remain firm? No and Yes and to see the correct answer one has to personally see this Tiatro which is going very well all over Goa.
Seen Humbert & Prince Jacob singing on Brazil janket

In the Side Show songs Annie Quadros renders a very good solo, so also her song  she beautifully sings with Valencia. Ignatius de Xelvon’s both the solos are worth admiring, so too Cajetan de Curtorim’s solo on looter Policeman. Prince Jacob duo with Humbert on Ministers Brazil World Cup junket was very well accepted by the audience, so too their trio with Cajetan de Curtorim on Dawlikar and Bikini.
Seen above Annie Quadros & Valencia singing

Humbert-Cajetan-Jacob singing a trio Dawlikar - Bikini.

Though the Side Show songs were good but presence of one or two more well-known songsters would have given an added booster to this already well enacted Drama.
Last scene of the Tiatro

Well done Prince Jacob and his troupe.

CANDOLIM RALLLY AGAINST MIGRANTS.

As announced, the villagers of Candolim under the dynamic leadership of Candolim youth organized a Rally followed by a Public Meeting held at the Candolim Tinto in the presence of a large number of villagers, all coming from all over the village and belonging to all segments of the society. The Rally started at 10.30 AM from Candolim Health Center and ended at the Tinto for the Meeting which was addressed among others by Mr. Edwin of NGO Human Rights Defenders, Mr. Prakash of NGO Pilerne Citizens Forum, Mr. Benedicto Pinto, Ruskin and Damaciano who in their speeches highlighted the arrogance and “dadagiri” of the Migrant Labourers in dealing with the locals.

Rally in progress

According to the official rates every migrant has to charge Rs 250/- per day for doing the labourer’s work but these migrants are charging even Rs 800/- per day and on top of it doing dadagiri with the locals.  Some of them are demanding accompaniment of 2 labourers for one man’s job thereby incurring heavy financial burden on the locals.

People gathered for the Meet.

In their speeches, all the speakers especially Edwin and Prakash demanded from Goa government and especially from the Labour Minister for whom the organizers have already submitted their memorandum of demands, to streamline the daily wages of the migrant labourers with the instruction to follow these wages very rigidly. They have also requested the government to display the Wage Rates at the strategic locations not only in Candolim but also all over Goa.  Mr. Prakash in his hard hitting speech demanded action from the government on this issue within the next 10 days failing which this campaign will be spread all over Goa.
Edwin seen addressing the Meet

On 19th December 1961 Goa was not liberated but conquered as per the Supreme Court judgment. Going a step forward, I can rightly say now that Goa is now invaded by the Non-Goan Migrants and to tackle them is not easy even though to tackle the Portuguese was easy   For this reason, every village must form a group to handle the menace of Migrants and all these village groups must federate into a Federation with common aim.

Prakash seen addressing the Meet

Though most of the locals attended the Rally and the Meet but none from the elected representatives; nether present nor ex.  This shows how much they love such issues of public importance.  Next elections are approaching fast and the locals must not forget the non-cooperation of all these representatives.  They may be expecting especial invitations from the organizers.  If yes, then why?  Are they Heavenly creatures?  Their regimes are only temporary and surely most of them will be thrown out in the next elections.  They should know that they are public servants and not masters.  They must stop acting like Maharajas.

While concluding, it is my sincere request to every village in Goa to form such organization as Candolim did to combat the dadagiri of migrants otherwise they will strip us to nude because the quality of migrants in Goa is very low. They are selfish and cruel.

TIATRO "AM ADMI" BY TOMAZINHO CARDOSO.

Yesterday on 15.10.14, at Kala Academy Hall, Panjim, at 7.00 PM,  I watched the “AM ADMI” Tiatro written and directed by Tomazinho Cardoso of Kala Mogi, Candolim. It was well attended by the audience and  also enacted well by all the artistes where especial mentioned must be made for the roles played by Irene Cardoso and  Sheikh Amir.

Rendering a solo

Eugeno Cardoso singing his solo

Though the story was not extra ordinary yet it carried some message where poor are exploited by the politically ruling class of people, namely the Ministers by demanding Money and Sex for Jobs. Tomazinho Cardoso is the name and fame in this particular field and from his track record of past scripts many in the audience felt that Am Admi would also fall in that track, but no, Am Admi did not come to the expected level though it was good.

One of the scenes

Rendering Opening song by Eurgeno-Tomazinho - Anton Joao

In the side show songs, Eugeno Cardoso’s solo “Noxib” was very good composition, so also his duet with his wife Sandra whose mellifluent voice brought an extra flavour to this song.
Rendering one Canto

The musical score was very well provided and Mike system was flawless.

REDDE - PADDE EK ZALET?

It looks “Redde – Padde” joined together in the name of betterment of Congress in Goa thru the fresh leadership of Luizin Faleiro.  Though it looks positive for Congress to gain thru this home coming of “Prodigal Sons” yet it looks next to impossible for Congress to gain with this superficial unity and as such I can rightly say just the opposite which means R.I.P. Congress Party’s victory in Goa under the leadership of Luizin Faleiro. He spoke yesterday a lot about many things including demand for Special Status and non-requirement of Mopa Airport.

When Congress in power at the Centre when his Madame Sonia was all powerful, where was Luizin sleeping to get this demand materialized?  Why he did not raise this issue forcefully with Madame and Congress Party then?  Similarly Mopa Airport.  Why he did not insist with the Central leaders of Congress then to scrap this project? Why now he is spilling Crocodile tears?  Mopa is the baby of Congress leader from Goa, Prataphsingh Rane in which case it is Congress alone responsible for the idea of Mopa. Congress is a crook party inhabited by crooks only and now that it is out of power and looking hungry to regain it, Congress under Luizin with Ranes and others are desperately seeking a way to dislodge BJP from the power.  It is not possible because Congress’ chicanery and lies are the electoral  gains of BJP.

Rane is the traitor who was yesterday barking in Panjim by showing his concern for Goans.  But as a matter of fact it was he who was responsible during his long tenure as Chief Minister of  Goa to work against the interest of Goa and Goans.  I still have pains on my shoulders from the Lathis I got from Rane’s Hawaldar for opposing Rane’s decision to grant recognition for Konkani  and Statehood,  at Azad Maidan Panjim, during the last days of language agitation in which I participated by especially coming from Kuwait.  Rane was an opponent of Konkani, Statehood and everything that was good for Goa and Goans and precisely because of this he was favouring outsiders.

In the photo above you can see the politicians wearing Congress Scarf but are they all true Congressmen? Can you trust Sardinha to be a true Congressman when he worked against the Congress candidate in the last Parliamentary election?  Besides he was a known Congress deserter who earlier  defected from Congress and with the help of Parricar formed his government thereby giving a base to BJP to grab power in Goa.

Was Rane a true Congresman?  Never, even though he now sings Hosannas in praise of Congress because in the ouster of John Fernandes he got his “Eureka”.  Rane was a MGP baby brought up in the cradle of MGP under the late D. B. Bandodcar and his affiliations are still with MGP, for this reason he is anti-Goan.

Can these Congressmen disclose the source of their wealth and how they amassed the same in such a vast quantity?   Do all of them possess a good moral character for the voters to trust them?   It is time now for the voters to make preparations to throw out all the corrupt Congressmen of the corrupt Congress party because this Congress party wants to promote corrupt people only.  For this reason John Fernades was sacked and along with Luizin Faleiro all the corrupt persons were brought back, these corrupt persons were reprimanded earlier by the Congress party headed by John Fernades who is more upright than Luizin Faleiro who will surely send the party into the grave.  R.I.P. Congress Party in Goa.

GONE JOHN FERNANDES AND CAME LUIZINHO FALEIRO.

Gone John Fernandes and in his place came Luizin Faleiro as president of Congress Party in Goa.  Kudos to John for displaying his guts to show the door to those so called Congressmen for doing anti-party activities.  With such anti-party members in the party, Congress will never make progress when it is required especially now when its image is very low.  There should be some discipline in the party and those who infringe on this discipline deserve reprimand and this is what exactly John did but unfortunately  resulting in his replacement not by any messiah but by the one who was earlier got himself rotten in the mess of Congress misrule.

Come Luizin or his father or grandfather from the grave but Congress will never resurrect from the Hell it was confined by the Goan voters in the last Assembly and Parliamentary elections unless the Congressmen firmly resolve to change their attitude.  In the last Assembly election it got heavy drubbing from the voters not because they love BJP but because they hated pride, arrogance, dadagiri, looting and feudality of the elected representatives of Congress party. Every elected Congressman acted and lived like a feudal lord surpassing the life style and behavior of Maharaja. They all in Goa kicked the discipline of socialism as preached by their earlier party stalwarts.

By virtue of being Congressmen every Congressman must imbibe at least some minimum qualities of Gandhiji by living a simple life thereby identifying him with the masses. But once they got power they forgot their humble past and started living as aristocrats by looting the public money and leading the pompous life.  When Luzin Faleiro was the Chief Minsiter of Goa he lived the life of a Viceroy with heavy police escort as if somebody is coming to kidnap him.  So much so, I was told even his cats and dogs were provided with police escorts in addition to his domestic servants. And after his exit from CM chair he became a commoner and yet nobody kidnapped him nor touched his shadow.  So why the pomp when he was CM?  Can’t it be eradicated thereby saving the government coffers?  What was the need to live at Altinho in a posh government provided Bungalow when he was CM?  Was it  a  status symbol? It is not only he but all the ministers do the same once they got the fortfolios.  It is thru this life style they create a wedge between them and the common people forcing them to vote them out in the election as they did in the last elections.

What I noticed from below my eyes was that almost every congress representative who was kicked out by the voters was a deserving loser because of his pride, arrogance, feudality, dadagiri, loot and sinful life when he was Congress MLA or Minister.  These defeated Congressmen in the last election should never be renominated, it is they who got the image of Congress soiled, they are not only a disgrace on society but also a curse on Congress.  Will Luizin act appropriately in sidelining all these curses?  If not, history will repeat itself and Congress will once again face the most humiliating defeat in the next general election.  Will Luizin work to avert this defeat? I doubt very much knowing from past experience of Luizin’s politics of defection into Goa Congress for his selfish benefit.

The High Command and Low Command of Congress do not want Congress to win the next election and precisely because of this both the Commands sacked John Fernandes and backed Luizin Faleiro whose potential to bring back the glory to Congress is finished unless he himself changes to his humble living of his pre-MLA era and not of post MLA/Minister era like a prideful feudal lord.

TIATRO "OPEN JAIL" BY ANIL PEDNECAR.

It was an excellent Tiatro with excellent message full of patriotism towards Goa. In this Tiatro the script writer and director Anil Pednecar played an excellent role of an elderly father in which capacity he gives an excellent message to those Goans who with the help of Portuguese Passports surrender their Goanness to settle down in London while in Goa outsiders come, engage in  business and settle down in Goa permanently as citizens of Goa.  The Tiatro reaches its climax in the last scene where Anil himself in his beautiful oratory on the theme elevates the Tiatro to its crescendo. Never in the past I heard in any Tiatro such an excellent message delivered with perfect clarity and precision as it was done by Anil Pednecar in his Tiatro "Open Jail" at Kala Academy, Panjim, yesterday at 7.00.

Seen above Rosario de Benaulim singing his solo

Seen above Olga singing her duet with her partner.
The title of the Triatro “Open Jail” is used in figurative sense where one full family of 4 members with Portuguese Passports by surrendering their family house and property goes to London where they like others live in an unGoan style befitting the vulgar western style.  Thru this way of life they become prisoners of this system converting themselves into as prisoners of that uncultured way of life full of immorality and vulgarity. They live there as prisoners of that system not in a closed door Jail but in an “Open Jail” where they act freely without any hindrance.

Seen in the picture above vulgar party life in UK

The maximum credit goes to the young small girl who played the role of a grand daughter of Anil.  To  play such an excellent role at that so young age with so much of confidence without any stage fright means something unimaginable.  The director carries major credit to groom this young girl to such a perfection. Pretty looking Olga does her role very well and in comedy both the seasoned comedians Bachan and Brian excelled very well.

Seen above Fermino & his partner sing their duet.

In the side show  songs, Rosario de Benaulim rendered a nice solo “Dollo”  while the duet “Soro” rendered by Fermino with his partner and also another duet “AID” by Olga with her partner were worth admiring as both these duets were meaningful and rendered also well.

As a whole this Tiatro was very well performed.

HOUSE OF ABE FARIA IN CANDOLIM.

A few years back to mark his 250th birthday, Portugal released a special Postal Stamp of Abade Faria (as seen below),  the great and world renowned Goan hypnotist from Candolim, Pintos Vaddo, Bardez, Goa.  In his honour as per my information France has erected a Statue of him there. The Portuguese government in Goa also erected his Statue in Panjim and the same government named  the Primary School in Candolim next to his ancestral house after him as “Escola Primaria de Abade Faria” where I did my Portuguese schooling.  This school is still existing and functioning.

His ancestral house was a big mansion with big concrete pillars and very thick walls of big Stones which were not cement plastered.  It looked this house was built by the Paulists.  Surrounding this house there were different types of fruit bearing trees which we as students used to pluck and eat since 50 years back it was left unattended by any human being.  Only Bats and Snakes were frequenting the area. Though we as small boys ignorant of the grandeur of the great man born in that house yet by observing minutely the magesticity of this house we could still realize that this house belonged to some great person and as we later on realized that this great person was none other than the great Abe Faria the pride of Candolim and Goa.
Renovated house of Abe Faria

In sixties this ancestral house was taken over by the government (Provedoria) and converted it into an Orphanage for girls.  But currently, there are no girls there but instead it houses young poor and orphan boys.  This house where the world renowned Goan was born is renovated and given a new looks as seen in the picture above.  At the entrance fixed to the wall are two Plaques as shown in the photos below.  Inside in the Parlour you will find a Bust of Faria placed on the big table as also shown here in the photo below.

Calangute Panchayat carry an unique distinction of erecting the Statue of great Goan Dr. Jack Sequeira who though was not an  internationally known personality like Abade Faria yet Dr. Sequeira was duly honoured by the Calangute Panchayat for his support for the Goan cause by erecting his full size Statue.  Likewise can’t the Candolim Panchayat erect the full size Statue of Abade Faria at a strategic location in Candolim to honour this great son of the Candolim soil?

Surely Candolim Panchayat can do and it must do it now without any delay.  Money should not be a hindrance. First of all it is an honour for Candolim to give birth to such a mighty globally recognized personality.  Hence, it is imperative to honour this man by erecting his Statue in Candolim.
