The above appeared in Goa's well read daily Herald dated 11.07.14.
This is to refer to the above profile of Tiatro
personality, writer & director Pal Soares, appeared in Herald
dated 11th of this month. I fully agree with what is written there of
Pal Soares. A few days back I saw his new Tiatro "ATAM THORI MHAKAM SHONDI DHIAT" and as I reviewed it in this forum, I found
it much better than all the Tiatros I saw during the last so many
months since I returned from Kuwait 5 months back. The story is good
concerning our children going to the West and their future there, the
duologs were excellent, the proverbial statements were very
philosophical and pleasing to the ears. Every artiste played his or her
role well but more credit should go to Annie Quadros, Antush and
comedian Betty for nicely shouldering the major pressure of the play.
In Side Show songs, well known political singer Saby De Divar and Benny
de Aldona stole the show with their beautiful songs.
Though the
show was thinly attended by the audience in Panjim due to many factors yet Pal
Soares must not get disappointed because of less crowd. All
the well-known playwrights in the beginning faced this problem and only
after undergoing this problem they were accepted by the audience and
thus they reached to the top. It is something great that the audience
attended to Pal's Tiatro last week have commented very positively in
appreciation of the excellence Pal Soares displayed on the stage.
Along
with me last week, my friend the Dubai Tiatro organizer Remmy Fernandes
also saw Pal's Tiatro and he commented to me saying, "this Tiatro is
much better". If things work out well, he may take this Tiatro to Dubai.
While
concluding, I congratulate Pal Soares for writing such a rich Tiatro and
ask him to continue on writing more and more such Tiatros. To elevate
the now sagging standard of Tiatros, playwrights like Pal Soares'
contribution is a must. As it is since their demise we are yet to have
replacements for M. Boyer, Prem Kumar, Remy J. Colaco, Alfred Rose, C.
Alvares, J. P. Souzalin, Alexinho de Candolim, Saib Rocha and Minguel
Rod. If am not mistaken their void will never be filled by the current
top Playwright Tiatrists who show no originality but "cut and paste"
from Hindi Movies.
