THIS IS FOR THE DUBAI & KUWAIT GOAN PIMPS OF CORRUPT GOAN POLITICIANS.

Overseas Goans Should Not Invite Our Corrupt Politicians

It is indeed unfortunate that Dubai and Kuwait are become second homes for our corrupt politicians and there are the few who would go to any lengths to appease these masters of corruption. These are the few people who for their own personal benefit are exploiting the love of our Goans for the football and Tiatr culture to propagate their own personal agendas.

It is in the news that Churchill on his visit to Dubai spoke about honesty and virtues, Churchill talking about honesty is like a serial rapist talking about chastity. They both somehow know the value of the terms but do not practice it. During the San Joao celebration in Dubai, Churchill gate crashed uninvited and was booed off by a few of us. There are a lot of Goans in Dubai who loath our corrupt politicians and have shown their resentment in words, writings and actions as well.

Though there are a few amongst us who have and will always betray for a few pieces of silver. Tiatr is a rare occasion here in Dubai and a good many Goans go for these tiatrs only because they love tiatrs more than they hate our politicians. Though there are many Goans in Dubai who have stopped going for tiatrs purely because our corrupt politicians are invited as chief guests, even though we love our tiatr culture but we do it as a sign of protest.

In fact I have written on a lot of papers and on different Goan forums asking Goans to boycott these events where our corrupt politicians are invited as chief guests or guests of honour even though the word honour and Goan politicians are oxymoron in nature and status. Even in Goa we have football finals, feasts, inaugurations, foundations, tiatrs and even weddings where these corrupt politicians are honoured and acclaimed sometimes even by our religious leaders. The height of acrimony being, some even have memorial football tournament in honour of the next of kith and kin of one of the most inapt politician, who was killed by of our very own, brave customs officer in a smuggling raid.

A lot of Goans in Goa and overseas were being overwhelmed by the power of money for a long long time and the welfare of Goa and Goans was forgotten and I hope 15th March will light the flame of love for Goa in us and remind us of our duty towards Goa and fellow Goans and help us to bring about a change in our perceptions, a change that every Goa loving Goan has been longing for. Let us support GRA in Large numbers on 15th March and show our solidarity and love for Goa. Goa Jai Ho !!!

Aldona United FC (U.A.E) crowned Champions
By Gasper Crasto

Kuwait: Aldona United FC (Dubai, U.A.E) were crowned champions of the 1st Late Sheikha Huda Bader Mohammad Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah Memorial International 7-aside Football Tournament played on 25th February 2011 at the Baladiya Ground, Salmiya, Kuwait.

Aldona beat strong contenders Fahaheel Brothers “A” in the tie-breaker 3-2.

The grand tournament was presented by newly formed Real Betalbatim Football Club under the patronage of Goan MLA Mr. Mickey Pacheco.

The tournament kicked-off in an atmosphere engulfed with mist. The teams were introduced to the guests present and to the Executive Committee of Real Betalbatim F.C. A minute’s silence was observed in respect of Late Sheikha Huda Bader Mohammed Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah. Later, His Excellency, the Ambassador of India, Shri Ajai Malhotra graced the occasion for a short period and in his speech he emphasized to keep politics in sports aside and enjoy the games. As a memento, a jersey and a plaque were presented to His Execellency by Robin Fernandes, CEO of Real Betalbatim.

Sheikha Dalal Al-Sabah, sister of Late Shaikha Huda Bader Al Sabah was the chief guest at the historic event.

“I have no words to express my joy to see the memory of my sister being brought alive,” said Sheikha Dalal Al-Sabah referring to tournament held in memory of late Sheikha Huda. Whilst congratulating the finalists for a great game of entertainment and appreciating the efforts of the organizers she further stated, “We support Indian football and we will support the next edition of the tournament as well.”

A Historic Event

Real Betalbatim President Derick Gomindes thanked the participating teams, IFRA Officials, Media, Sponsors and everyone involved in making the event a grand success. He said, “It’s a privilege and honor for Real Betalbatim F.C. to organize such an event in loving memory of Late Sheikha Huda Bader Mohammed Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah and to keep her memories alive. He further stated, “This is the first tournament and will not be the last. Real Betalbatim will continue to be associated with Al-Sabah family for years to come”.

Mr. Derick also thanked Sheikha Dalal Al-Sabah and Sheikha Hanouf Al-Sabah for supporting Real Betalbatim F.C. in making this event a success and for accepting the invitation to attend the function in spite of a busy schedule. He also thanked IFF-K Council Members and Executive Committee for allowing Real Betalbatim to stage this event.

The day-long tournament attracted 22 select teams of Indian origin including 2 overseas teams from UAE. A number of top players from across the Middle East were seen in action. The matches were watched by a large number of holiday spectators with games providing sizzling drama and excitement.
