UG SOCCER IN KUWAIT - WEEK III

RISING STARS EDGE TOURNAMENT HOST.
MALABAR, DON BOSCO & CURTORCARES ADVANCE.
The first match was contested between two new teams in the 36th edition of this tournamnet: Gulf Cable and Malabar United. The KIFF match officials were Connie, Ronnie and Edward. The start of the much revolved mostly in the centre half as both teams tried to gain possession. As Gulf Cable began to settle, they started to look more comfortable moving the ball around and created some good chances. Malabar is response attempted some long range shots to trouble the keeper. The first half remained scoreless but Gibu of Malabar made no mistake scoring from a spot kick in the second half to take the lead as their defender brought down the attacker in the penalty area. Juzer of Gulf Cable had a really good chance to equalize the game but the keeper made a full stretch save to deny him. Muneer of Malabar could have put the game away but he shot wide having only the keeper to beat. A total of five yellow cards were handed out in this match and Malabar have to be careful in the next round.

The second match of the day was between Curtorcares and DHL. Curtorcares maintained their good form in the tournament to secure a 2-0 win. No.6 Braz continued to shine by scoring both the goals in this match. No.17 Jose had another chance from a free kick but was unable to find the target. He played a pivotal role for Curtorcares in supplying the ball to the fowards. No.6 Braz picked up both his goals in the second half. DHL had a few chances but found it difficult to come back into the game after being two goals down. Curtorcares now wait for their opponents in the semi-final stage.

The third match was between UG Strikers and Rising Stars. It was a closely contested match between the two old rivals. Rising Stars took the lead in twenty minutes from a long range effort from No.7 Arun. No.9 Thankapan doubled the lead shortly as the UG keeper failed to make a regulation save. UG started to find their feet back in the game and replied with a string of shots on goal but the Rising keeper did well to keep everything out. UG made a double substitution during the second half and were rewarded with a goal from No.4 Pontes. Alfred made some good moves in the second half and was nearly rewarded. Rising attempted some more long range shots in the second half to trouble the UG keeper.

The fourth match of the day was an exciting feature between AVC and Don Bosco. AVC began to threaten as soon as the whistle blew off and made Don Bosco defend a lot. Steven kept the ball out with a header on goal line and some good defending from Conrad at the back kept the score line to a draw till halftime. Don Bosco strikers were marked well by AVC and they did not give them a lot of room. Don Bosco began to play a better game in the second half and had a few chances to trouble the AVC keeper. The KIFF match officials were John, Arnold and Romeo. Kevin Vaz of AVC had the best chance in the match but his powerful shot was kept out by the keeper. There was not much separating the two sides and after regulation time and extra time the game had to be decided by penalties. AVC put in all their first four penalties and Don Bosco got in only three out of four. It looked like AVC were going to take it away on penalties but penalties is always a cruel way to end a match and AVC would be that team. AVC missed their fifth spot kick and gave Don Bosco a golden opportunity to come back in sudden death. Steven of Don Bosco took a cool penalty while Luciano of AVC was not able to convert his. Don Bosco will meet earlier winners Malabar in the quarter final stage.

Kuwait Goans Association Vs. Rising Stars at 8:00 am.

Goa Maroons Vs. Skynet Raiders at 9:30 am.

ADV.AMIT DESAI DIRECTED TO REFUND 5 LAKHS.

SP DIRECTS ADV. AMIT DESAI TO URGENTLY REFUND THE FIVE LAKHS

North Goa Superintendent of Police Mr. Arvind Gawas has directed Mumbai Senior Advocate Amit Desai to urgently refund the five lakhs that was erroneously paid to him under a bonafied belief that he had appeared for those four hearings before the Bombay High Court at Goa in the Ryan Fernandes confirmation of death sentence case.

Acting on a complaint filed by Adv. Aires Rodrigues, SP Arvind Gawas in his letter to Adv. Amit Desai has stated that there was an inadvertent error in clearing the bills which were erroneously certified by the Investigating officer of the case Deputy Superintendent of Police Mr. Mahesh Gaonkar.

SP Gawas has further informed Adv. Amit Desai that the police have now confirmed from the records of the High Court that he had not appeared before the High Court on those four days for which he had billed the Goa government.

Mr. Gawas has in his letter also drawn Adv. Amit Desai’s attention that the Law department had also stated that he was entitled to Rs 1, 25,000 per appearance only before the High Court and not for any fees towards conference or meetings that he may have held in Goa.

While the Goa police are hoping to close the case by getting Adv. Amit Desai to refund the five lakhs, Adv. Aires Rodrigues has demanded that Adv Amit Desai and Adv. Ashwin Bhobe should be also booked and punished for committing offences of cheating, misappropriation of property, and breach of trust under Section 420, r/w Sec 34 & section 120-B of the Indian Penal Code.

Panaji Judicial Magistrate First Class Mrs. Sarika Fadessai has already issued notices to North Goa Superintendent of Police Mr. Arvind Gawas and Panaji Police Inspector Ramesh Gaonkar to appear in Court on 1st November on a petition filed by Adv. Aires Rodrgues seeking directions of the Court to the police to register and investigate the cheating case against Adv. Amit Desai and Adv. Ashwin Bhobe for cheating the State exchequer to the tune of five lakhs.

Adv Rodrigues has stated that Adv. Amit Desai’s raising the bills was a clear act of cheating, while Adv. Ashwin Bhobe criminally conspired and corroborated in the act by submitting those bills to the government inspite of knowing that the bills were falsely raised and that there were factually no such court appearances by Adv. Amit Desai.

TORCH BEARERS OF PEACE & BROTHERHOOD.

Let Us Be The Torch Bearers of Peace And Brotherhood

16th October 2009 was indeed a dark day for Goa and Goans, as home grown radicals from a right wing group took upon themselves to teach a lesson to Goans who celebrated the immolation of evil by setting alight the effigies of “Narkasur”, on the eve of “Diwali” the festival of lights as it is called, only because the radicals thought Goans were glorifying evil by burning the effigies of “Narkasur”. The symbolism itself is more than appropriate for the celebrations of victory of “good” over “evil”.

In India we unite in our diverse cultures, traditions and celebrations. This religious ritual or tradition has been followed for centuries not just in Goa but all over India and people of all walks of life and religions take part in this celebration, as most celebrations tend to unite our nation but today the seditious belief of these imprudent guys who think it is glorification of evil, are surely emanating distorted ideas and ideologies, trying to force their own idiocies on others to promote their own personal and organizational agendas.

It’s been two years since the attempted bomb blast in Goa, no doubt Goans were very luck to come out of it unscratched and intact as the two “vultures of death” were slain by their own evil, even before they could enact their hideous plan and design to fulfill the age old adage “evil comes to those who seek evil”, but unfortunately, to the frustrations of the people, the “Satan” behind the satanic “sanstha” has not been unmasked. We certainly have to be eternally grateful to our Gods who have protected us thus far.

Terror does not owe allegiance to any faith, religion, caste, creed or status, except to its own perverted and obscene creed which thrives on the massacre of innocents. The dynamics of terror are based on the twisted logic of obsession, hatred and fear of the propagators as well as the spawns of terror, each intertwined to the others, each feeding of the other's insatiable lust. Whatever prefixes or suffixes the terrorists attach to themselves, the real enemy is humanity and the civil society and we have all seen around us the inevitability tragedy when, left unchecked, how terror consumes itself and everything else in its periphery.

In Goa most of the criminal elements and organizations have survived and thrived only because of the elementary support and patronage of our politicians and political parties. The link between the alleged criminal organization, the two “vultures of death” and politicians was established but as usual no action has been taken against the organization nor the politicians as the justice sought, has been delayed and hence denied, which is nothing new in Goa because the elite politicians and elite organizations have never ever been convicted in Goa as they think and act like they are all above the law or law unto themselves.

We are living in the 21st century and we are a democracy, where we have judiciary to give justice to the aggrieved people and the security services to protect the oppressed people, provided through the Constitution of India but unfortunately in Goa our constitutional rights are suppressed by the very people elected to uphold them, as nepotism and corruption takes precedence over state security and good governance and we have been victims of their skewed agendas on a number of occasions as they have failed time and again to take punitive actions against the perpetrators terror and bigotry.

Today as we gather to celebrate the victory of good over evil, let it not be just a ritual but let us all in earnest torch the evil within us and illuminate and emanate the goodness, charity, honesty, integrity and truth within us and persevere to be the torch bearers of peace and brotherhood and at the same time take a pledge to elect honest and able people who will work for the wellbeing of Goa and Goans.

Happy Diwali to All.

FALL OF COL. GHADDAFI IN LIBYA.

Finally the curtain was pulled down on that momentous Thursday, 20th of October 2011, on the 42 long tyrannical years rule of Mohammad Ghaddafi in Libya. Freedom loving Libyans finally heaved a sigh of relief. The Libyans had all the material benefits from its regime under their leader Ghaddafi but no freedom to inhale free air from the atmosphere. Libyans in Libya were given all the facilities and benefits to live a good life as far as material benefits are concerned while the same were missing elsewhere but when freedom came they were suppressed and oppressed. Here Col. Ghaddafi made a mistake.

It is said in the Bible that “Man does not live on Bread alone”. Suppression and oppression are the two major things man will oppose with all his might even by discarding material benefits. Lokmanaya Tilak had all the material benefits for him to live a very good life yet he longed for freedom saying “Freedom is my birth right and by all means I shall have it”. The fate of suppressor of people’s rights is the result of Ghaddafi’s End.

42 Years back when Ghaddafi captured power of Libya, the people there had high hopes of his rule but on the contrary his intentions and actions proved otherwise. He thought his rule is omnipotent and he was a devine appointee to rule Libya indefinetely with iron fist. By supporting terrorism in the world he acquired hatred from all around the globe, mainly from the West. Not only West but even some of his own Arab and Muslim Leaders started hating him, some openly like Anwar Sadat of Egypt while others silently. Sadat called him a “Boy” and “mentally deranged”. Further Sadat threatened Ghaddafi saying “I will teach you a good lesson and bombed Libya” while Ghaddafi like a Cockroach remained hidden.

Ghaddafi like many Arab leaders knew to act like a Lion in front of the Goat and a Goat in front of the Lion. When the then US President Ronald Reagan got annoyed at him, he sent an advance warning to Ghaddafi that he will bomb his house and actually Reagan did it boldly while Ghaddafi like a coward remained hidden elsewhere.

Ghaddafi’s patriotism towards Arab cause was immense and during the 1973 War of Arabs with Israel, he even pleaded with China to sell one Atom Bomb for him to destroy Israel. But philosophically Chou-en-Lai of China replied saying “Atom Bomb is not for sale”. When one of the Western leaders got this news, he remarked thus “from here one can make out how risky it is to entrust Arabs with an Atom Bomb”.

Ghaddafi had no respect for the World Organisations even where Libya is a member and for this reason while attending a NAM summit once, he remarked “NAM is a big Joke”. He had no respect for decency and discipline. In the world forum many world leaders considered him as a big clown.

A few days before his fall, when BBC correspondent asked him why the situation is going bad for him, he replied ‘you know nothing; there is nothing bad going, everything is ok in my country’. He failed to judge the mood of his people correctly and his sons also played their arrogant roles in his downfall. They acted like Emperors of Libya. Many times in many countries their leaders’ downfall brought about by their own rude sons, like Saddam Hussein’s sons.

It is said, “when one wicked man dies the entire city rejoices”. This is what has happened in the case of Ghaddafi’s death when the entire Libya rejoiced after hearing the news of his death. It was a very pitiable death he had to face after being tortured by his captors. I am sure he never expected to face such a horrible death. During his 42 years of brutal rule he must have inflicted so many such cruel deaths on freedom loving Libyans. “Sword beget sword”. He came to power thru the power of bullet and got himself liquidated also thru the power of bullet. SWORD BEGET SWORD. How prophetic these Biblical words are!! I hope others of Ghaddafi type persons will learn some lesson from these Biblical words spoken by Jesus Christ.

History is full of details of the miserable end of the brutal rulers. When Saddam Hussein was arrested his own people demolished his Statue and even urinated on it. When Mussolini’s body was dragged on to the streets, even ladies urinated on his body. When Caussesceau of Romania was caught by his own people there was queue with guns to shoot him. For Ghaddafi also there was a queue to kill him, according to information.

Will in the aftermath of Ghaddafi’s fall the new rulers in Libya deliver the goods to the satisfaction of the Libyans? Will the new Libyan rulers fulfill the wishes and aspirations of the common Libyans? Time alone will answer. However, for the smooth functioning of the liberated Libya, the new rulers and their subbordinates must give the hand of reconciliation to their adversaries and NOT the Sword of Revenge. This is not the time to practice the doctrine of "Eye for an eye and Tooth for tooth". This doctrine was the doctrine King Hamurabi the ancient king of ancient Mesopotamia. It is irrelevant now in liberated Libya and it should not be applied if liberated Libya is to develop and progress.

NUTAN SARDESAI LIED TO THE JUDGE.

RTI REVEALS THAT NUTAN SARDESSAI LIED IN HER APPLICATION TO THE JUDGE

Judge Nutan Sardessai did not disclose that she was an employee of Industrialist and mining tycoon Mr. Anil Salgaocar when she applied for the post of Civil Judge Junior Division in 1991. This has been revealed in the information furnished by the Law department to Adv. Aires Rodrigues under the Right to Information Act.

Adv. Aires Rodrigues had sought under the RTI Act complete details including the bio-data and other documents submitted by Ms Nutan Sardessai when she applied for the post as Judge in 1991. Ms Nutan Sardesai is currently the Principal North Goa District & SessionsJudge.

The documents furnished to Adv. Aires Rodrigues under the RTI Actreveals that in her application dated 26th April 1991 for the post of Civil Judge Junior Division Ms Nutan Sardessai only stated that she had seven years and 10 months experience but remained silent as to with whom she had worked.

Adv. Aires Rodrigues has today stated that it needs to be probed as to why Ms. Nutan Sardessai did not disclose in her application that she had initially worked at Margao with Adv. P.G.Navelkar and was later employed by industrialist Mr. Anil Salgaocar. Adv. Rodrigues has further stated that it also needs to be known whether Mr. Anil Salgaocar had played any role in her selection as a Judge.

Adv. Rodrigues has alleged that Ms Nutan Sardessai after becoming a Judge contrary to judicial propriety and high standards of judicial ethics had heard various cases involving her former employer Mr. AnilSalgaocar.

Adv. Rodrigues has stated that in one such case the Bombay High Court at Goa last year had made some very serious observations against Judge Ms Nutan Sardessai in a case involving the River Princess and her former boss Mr. Anil Salgaocar.

The High Court in that judgment held that Judge Nutan Sardessai had exercised her discretion contrary to the well settled principles of law and that she had committed a serious error in appreciating the evidence in that case.

The High Court struck down the order passed by Judge Nutan Sardessai on 29th April 2009 as Principal District Judge, Margao by which she had directed the Goa government to refund Rs five and half crores to Jaisu Shipping Ltd even though there was no such demand made by the company in it’s petition.

Adv. Aires Rodrigues has stated that it was very improper for JudgeNutan Sardessai to have stained the Judiciary by hearing matters involving the interests of her former employer Industrialist Mr. Anil Salgaocar.

CONFLICT BETWEEN JEWS & PALESTINIANS.

It is over 6 decades now since Palestinians and Jews are fighting against each other in the Middle East. Palestinians are fighting to regain their land which they say their homeland and the same Israel has forcibly usurped while Israel is fighting to retain the usurped land with the excuse that it is their promised land as per the Biblical version.

Since time immemorial the dispute between Palestinians and Jews is in existence. Palestinians or Philistines as they are called in Biblical terms were known to fight historical battles with the Jews. Thousands of years back the army of Jews under the skippership of Jeshua fought against Philistians till Jeshua won the battle. With the help of God Jeshua defeated his enemies. To help win this battle God kept the Sun unmoved for 24 hours till Jeshua defeated his enemies Philistians. To keep the Sun intact thus was the greatest miracle God made to help Jew Jeshua to defeat Philistines.

A puny size Jew, David with the blessing of God destroyed the mighty Philistine Golliath and created a biblical history. This was another instance where God helped a Jew to finish a Philistine.

When there was a dispute between Philistine and Jews, it looks God stood by the Jews. Was it because the Jews were the chosen people? If this is so, then what about others? Were they not the children of the same God? Does God discriminate between his own children when God is Just? It looks like otherwise why God gave preferential treatment to only one racial class of people, that is Jews?

In the ongoing tussle between Jews and Palestinians Jews are killing innumerable Stone throwing Palestinians. Stone throwers are fools because thru this war with Stones against Bullets of Jews the Stone throwers are committing suicides and suicide is a sin. Thru this method of fighting with Jews, young Palestinians are losing their budding lives from the Bullets of Israeli Jews. One cannot fight a war with Stones against the Bullets.

During the last 6 decades by confronting Jews, the Palestinians gained nothing and with the continuation of the same method of confrontation they will gain nothing either. Palestinians need rights for their homeland. To work for it, they need no Arafat or terrorist groups. Terrorism and hijacking of planes fetched nothing for Palestinians, on the contrary they lost world sympathy, especially after the Munich Olympics operation done by the Palestinians.

The birth of Israel 6 decades back was based on cheating and wrong actions initiated by the crook British thru Balfour declaration. Israel in the present format was created by uprooting and dislodging the Palestinians from their land and homes by the Jews came from many parts of the world to resettle in the promised land. But what about the Palestinians uprooted from their places and homes? Where they will go? Don’t they deserve the right for homeland and homes?

Israel is afraid of its existence if Palestinians are allowed a separate homeland next to Israel. If Israel is uprooted from the current place, it will disappear from the planet. For this reason Israel is having sympathy from the Western world to strengthen the borders of Israel.

Palestinians need a Mahatma Gandhi with a simple “Dandi” in his hand and not a sophisticated Gun to fight for their homeland. “Sword beget Sword” and by challenging confrontation with confrontation Palestinians will gain nothing. Without firing a bullet and without killing a single soldier the late Anwar Sadat, the president of Egypt in late seventies got back from Israel the huge area of land which Israel earlier captured from the Arabs. This was acquired thru peaceful methods because Anwar Sadat was a a wisdomatic visionary leader. Such leaders are missing now in the Arab World. It is a reality that Israel is a force to reckon with in its present location and no power in the Middle East can uproot it because the entire nuclear West is with Israel and besides, Israel itself is a nuclear power.

No power in the Islamic and Arab Worlds can defeat Israel and at least for the time being Israel is come to stay as it is. This is a hard fact one must be bold enough to accept and not to believe in the statement of the former President of Egypt Gamal Abdul Nassar that “we will put Israel into the sea”. We know who got immersed into the sea in the 1965 War between Arabs and Israel. It was not Israel but Arabs only under the same Nassar.

A few days back we saw how hundreds of Palestinians were released from the Israeli prisons by Israel in exchange of ONE Israeli prisoner soldier by the Palestinian. This again indicates the power of settlement of a dispute thru peaceful negotiation. If such a big deal can be acquired thru peaceful method of discussion and negotiation then why not other issues related to Palestinians and Jews in Israel and Palestine?

The present era is not of war to get independence but it is an era of getting independence thru peaceful negotiations which Israel and Palestinians must pursue for the establishment of independent Palestinian State. This is required because Palestinians too need a free and separate homeland for them. It is their birth right to have a separate independent homeland for Palestinians. They are also the children of same God just as the Israeli Jews are.

While concluding one must admire Israeli leadership to swap over a thousand Palestinian prisoners for One Israeli Jews. This shows how great importance Israeli Jews give for their one enemy captured Jew!! It is admirable gesture on the part of Israeli leadership to take such a bold step for the release of ONE JEW.

IS TEAM ANNA GOING THE GBA WAY?

By Nisser Dias.
20th Oct 2011

In the current week we are hearing on the television and reading on the newspapers that there has been a lot of mix-up and misunderstanding between the members of Team Anna. Two prominent personalities like noted lawyer Prashant Bhushan and RTI activist Arvind Kejriwal were assaulted. Another two members quit core committee of 22. Then there is confusion between Anna Hazare and Prashant Bushan over the latter’s comment on Kashmir.

What Team Anna was for the entire country, Goa Bachao Abhiyan (GBA) was for Goa. Sadly though as both the movements grew and received immense support from the citizens of the country and the state, believing that these groups would catapult us into a new era or rather a new India, where corruption at all levels would be curtailed and destruction of our hills and fields and shoreline and our countryside would be stopped. Instead cracks developed in the groups.

Some personalities who came into limelight because of the movement, carved a lifesize image of themselves and became despotic. They started considering themselves bigger than the issue and the entire structure started crumbling and finally bit the dust. It happened to GBA and similar situation is unfolding in Team Anna.

The reason being each core member wanted his will to be adopted, each core member wanted to be the spokesperson of the movement, each of them had their own opinions on the issue and instead of coming to a consensus within the core group, they publicly voiced their opinions even going to the extent of indulging in character assasination thereby creating a divide among themselves. Some members in the GBA became so addicted to being in the public eye that they did not want to resolve issues but wanted, ‘The mess to continue’.

Team Anna is going through a similar crisis that GBA has already experienced. Can we forget that after the massive GBA rally at Azad Maidan in December 2006, some miscreants had vandalized Patricia Pinto’s house at Campal in a bid to dissuade her, many other members had received threatening calls to disassociate themselves from GBA, but the movement carried on for some time with vigour and enthusiasm because of collective decision making. However when the movement slowed down, some publicity hungry members felt like fish out of water due to lack of being seen on television or news dailies. Similar situation seems to have developed in the Anna Team with eminent lawyer being manhandled and a shoe being thrown at Kejriwal. Then Prashant Bhushan making a public statement on Kashmir and the media aligning the same as the stand adopted by Team Anna thereby creating differences between prominent members of Team Anna.

Another parallel that can be drawn from Team Anna and GBA is that both the movement had managed to put the governments in power be it at the Union or state level in the dock and forcing them to retract from its stand and follow the dictum of the people of this country and state. Team Anna and GBA tasted success at every stage with great difficulty though. It is at a crucial stage like this that either members of the group or people at large start expecting more. They view activist as an aspirant to contest the election and being their voice in assembly or Parliament. But when the person who is seen as their choice outright rejects the proposal then the masses feel betrayed. And Dr.Oscar Rebello a victim of such a campaign. He led the GBA movement from the front. He was seen as a new avatar to replace our corrupt elected representatives but when he refused he was painted as a traitor.

Similar situation is likely to arise in Team Anna, citizens of this country will expect Team Anna to form a party and contest elections and if that does not happen, Anna’s fight against corruption will be termed as a farce and maybe a show to collect money from people.

Then just as GBA initiated a programme by organizing public meetings all over the state to educate voters on whom to vote, how to vote and why to vote, Team Anna also started such a programme but the difference was they visited places where by-polls were being held and urged voters not to cast their ballot in favour of the Congress party and it did have the required effect, Congress candidates in four different states were defeated. Nevertheless Team Anna also suffered a setback as two of its members Rajendra Singh and P V Rajagopal quit as members of the Core Committee as they felt that the Team was turning political.

Be that as it may, the writing on the wall is crystal clear for decade long rule of Congress led UPA government at the Union level and the 5 years old Digmabar Kamat government at the state level that Team Anna factor is going to play a major role in the ensuing assembly elections in the state and four other states that are going to polls next year.

If the Union government continues to dilly-dally with the Jan Lokpal Bill and fail to table and see its safe passage in the Parliament during the winter session the Congress regime is bound to face the wrath of Team Anna and its supporters all over the country even though during its reign in power for the last ten years high profile politicians are incarcerated in Tihar jail on charges of corruption.

In Goa, ministers in Digambar Kamat led government are alleged to have amassed huge amount of money, wealth and assets during the last five years, but the wheels of justice have not yet started churning in Goa but I hope that very soon they are going to move. But we should not wait for it to happen we should make it happen and make it happen during the 2012 assembly elections by refusing to vote for corrupt candidates and vote for new faces whose integrity is intact. I will not say not to vote for a particular party because we hardly have a choice and worse still regional party office bearers in Goa are as bad as national political party leaders.

The only choice before us is to elect an educated, articulate candidate – independent or otherwise who will stand up against corruption and injustice. A candidate who will function as per the pulse of the people and not by party dictats. I very well know that I am talking of an ideal candidate and let’s hope we find some, maybe so far we have expected them to fall from heaven but this time round let’s put our hands together and start digging a little deeper till we find them.

ADV. AIRES RODRIGUES URGED SUPREME COURT TO EXPEDITE HEARING AGAINST JR. RANE.

SUPREME COURT URGED TO EXPEDITE HEARING OF PETITION AGAINST HEALTHMINISTER VISHWAJIT RANE.

The Supreme Court has been urged to expedite the hearing of theSpecial Leave Petition filed by Adv. Aires Rodrigues against Goa’sHealth Minister Mr. Vishwajit Rane in the threat to kill case.

In an application filed before the Supreme Court Adv. Aires Rodrigues has prayed that in the interest of justice his petition be heard expeditiously. The Supreme Court on 13th December last year had after hearing the petition issued notices to Health Minister Mr.Vishwajit Rane and the Chief Secretary of Goa but the petition has not yet come up for final hearing.

In his petition before the Supreme Court, Adv. Aires Rodrigues haschallenged the Bombay High Court’s order which had quashed the chargesheet against Health Minister Mr. Vishwajit Rane in the threat to kill case.

A Division bench of the Bombay High Court at Goa comprising of JusticeA.S. Oka and Justice F.M. Reis while quashing the charge sheet against Health Minister Mr. Vishwajit Rane had held that an offence under Sec 506 ( threat to kill) of Indian Penal Code was non-cognizable.

Adv. Aires Rodrigues has in his petition before the Supreme Courtchallenged that decision of the High Court which had held that the Goagovernment had no powers to issue a notification making Sec 506cognizable.

Incidentally Sec 506 was made cognizable by a notification issued bythe Goa Government in 1973 when Mr. Pratapsingh Rane, father of Mr.Vishwajit Rane was the Law Minister. Over the years hundreds ofpersons have been charge sheeted and prosecuted under that section. However when the Old Goa Police charge sheeted Health Minister Mr.Vishwajit Rane under Sec 506, the Goa Government suddenly took a standthat the section is non-cognizable.

A controversial proposal was hurriedly moved by Advocate General of Goa Mr. Subodh Kantak to instruct all Public Prosecutors to withdraw all cases filed by thepolice under Sec 506 of I.P.C as the section was non-cognizable.

The 73 page charge sheet was filed by the Old Goa Police against Health Minister Mr. Vishwajit under sec 506 of Indian Penal Code forallegedly having threatened on 31st July 2007 to kill Adv. Aires Rodrigues. The Old Goa Police in their charge sheet against Mr.Vishwajit Rane have named nine witnesses including his own wife Mrs.Divya Rane. If convicted Health Minister Vishwajit Rane could face upto seven years imprisonment.

NATIONAL PARTIES UNFIT TO RULE GOA.

National Parties Have Lost The Right To Govern Goa.

By now most of us must be familiar with situation in which the Gujarat cop Sanjiv Bhatt is, all because of the stand he took against the fascist regime of Narender Modi. In the quagmire of Indian politics, fry the guy who dares to speak against the regime is still a way of life. And I was thinking we had bypassed the barbaric era and living in the 21st century of democracy, oh, how wrong was I ?

Narender Modi the butcher of Gujarat is a tyrant indeed and cop Sanjiv Bhatt has realized it the hard way but what could he do ? Truth cannot be kept silent forever, sooner than later truth evolves and ascertains itself. We all know why Sanjiv Bhatt is being terrorized by the power that be in Gujarat ? But as always, we do nothing. Cop Sanjiv Bhatt has received threats on his life, his wife too fears for his safety but will anyone dare to stand against the butcher of Gujarat ?

If Gujarat is being ruled by tyranny, Goa is not far behind, today’s paper carries a headline on the inside page “Viswajeet threatened to kill me”. It merely substantiates the arrogance of our Goan politicians, to stay in power they will do anything and everything, as they have the resources at their disposal, some even in uniform, ever ready to carry out their master’s commands.

A few weeks back there was blood bath on the streets of Panjim, alleged to be a gang war between two politically backed rivals, few years back, the now education minister had attacked the head quarters of the Goa police at Panjim in broad daylight, in Margao too we have seen our CM cozying with the antisocial elements of Monti Dongor, our opposition leader Manohar Parrikar too has displayed ample sympathy for the migrant goons of Chimbel, the brothers of south Goa too let loose their goons on anti maga-projects and anti-mining activists, so do we really need to be rocket scientists to assume why our politicians like to have packs of dogs with them ?

Even though we have dime a dozens, it takes just one crass politician to desecrate the divinity of the once sacred profession of politics, where politics was a mere extension of social service, which unfortunately our politicians have turned into a resounding personal business profession today and has become the unalloyed epitome of evil and all that we do is watch in sepulchral silence of a cemetery. They even visit different Holy places, for Poojas, masses, novenas and even Haj, but still spirituality and morally ennobling ideas somehow continue to elude them.

It is now for the people to assert their collective will on those elected to serve us but have betrayed our trust and are guilty of both collective incompetence as well as collective complicity in the sins of commission and omission. Their congenital and colloquial affinity for corruption has epitomized the evil in Goan politics. As fish rots from the head downwards, so to the present governance in Goa and the illegal mining scam has amply proved it, so our message to them at the next election must be unequivocal: Both National Parties have lost the right to govern Goa. Vasectomy can never be the solution for serial rapists, only castration can be the answer.Freddy

GOA IS HAVING A "PONCH" DGP DR. ADITYA ARYA.

THE DGP WHO ONLY TALKS.
By Aires Rodrigues.

Good and competent officers talk less. Goa’s DGP, Dr Aditya Arya, has been lecturing a lot but there has been no action on the ground.Having witnessed the DGP himself succumb to the political pulls and pressures, what else can we expect from his subordinates? I have hadfirst hand experience interacting with the DGP for no personal favours but over three issues in public interest.

On the case relating to the cheating of the State exchequer by two advocates the DGP assured me of immediate action. However thein structions he gave were to the contrary. If one cannot trust the DGP what can one expect from a constable? Similar was the fate of the complaint I filed against the Director of Prosecution for having caused financial loss to the State exchequer. I was also promised immediate action in the recovery of the Rs 4, 33, 200 from former IGPK.D.Singh’s for the repairs of the official car damaged by his son. That too has been shelved by the DGP for reasons best known.

On Sunday 16th October the DGP drove to Gokarn in Karnataka for the day with his official Innova vehicle without seeking prior permission of the State Government as was required when an officer leaves the State. He also misused his official vehicle on his day out on a picnic. Showing his men Singham and lecturing them on Gandhigiri may be an exercise in futility. Five months is long enough to judge the credibility, honesty and competence of an officer. Mr. DGP, you have failed the test. Will the people of Goa extend Dr Arya’s period of probation. I would not.

UG SOCCER TOURNEY IN KUWAIT. II WEEK.

KGA, Don Bosco and AVC Advance; UG Strikers meets Old Rivals Rising Stars:

The first match was played between Kuwait Goans (KGA) and Indian Strikers. Both the teams started playing very good football with Indian strikers having the best chance in the first half sending the ball just over the bar from a header. But KGA increased the pressure and stretched the Indian strikers' defense. The first half ended goalless. During the second half KGA threw everything and found the answer from No.3 James' free kick. Indian Strikers in reply sent some good crosses in the box but failed to find the finishing touches and KGA held on to their slim lead to progress to the next stage. The KIFF referees were Victor, Casmiro and Saji.

The second match was played between Don Bosco and CRC Chinchinim. Both teams began playing attacking football but it was Don Bosco that had the best chance in the first half with their striker Leroy heading over the bar and Godfrey couldn’t beat the keeper after receiving a good through ball from No.4 Conrad. No.11 Gomes from CRC took a stunning shot on goal forcing the Don Bosco keeper to make a great save. After a goalless first half, Don Bosco picked up the pace in the second half and their strikers combined well with each other . Leroy opened the scoring with a clean strike and five minutes later No.26 Michael doubled the lead with some good one two passes. Don Bosco maintained more possession and were looking very organized in the back continued to press on for more goals. A solid individual effort from Leroy helped Don Bosco secure a comfortable 3-0 win. CRC was not able to defend and when they had the ball up front they found it difficult to penetrate the defense. The match was refereed by Tony, Edward and Arnold.

Rising Stars and Real Betalbatim took on each other in the third fixture. The match officials were Bernard, Robert and Casmiro. Real Betalbatim started attacking from the whistle but it was Rising stars that struck first with a great goal from a good no.6 Thatta in five minutes. Real Betalbatim had their chance to equalize but Ruzario's shot was fired inches away from the goal. Rising increased the pace and the pressure on their opponents and were rewarded with a second goal from from the hardworking No.10 Shafik. Seconds after the restart of second hald Shanub(No.9) found the back of the net from a long cross. Real Betalbatim were mostly defending in the second half, but they could not stop Shanub excellent finish to give him his second goal of the match. YRC beat Real Betalbatim 4-0.

The fourth match was played between AVC and Santos United in very hot conditions. Jerry, Qusai and Ananth were the KIFF referees of the match.. AVC started to dominate proceedings from the start of the whistle. No.10 Kevin Vaz scored two goals from two good strikes in the first half and No.8 Ronnie long range effort was precisely placed from the keepers reach. No.18 Jerry got the post from a tough angle but that was the only best chance of the match for Santos. It was all one way traffic for AVC in the second half. No.25 Anthony Rodrigues added four goals to his tally in the second half to help AVC win the match by a 7-0 margin.

BAR COUNCIL TO HEAR 23RD OCT. COMPLAINT AGAINST ADVOCATE GENERAL SUBODH KANTAK.

The complaint of professional misconduct filed by Adv. Aires Rodriguesagainst the Advocate General of Goa Mr. Subodh Kantak will be heard bya full house of the Bar Council of Maharastra and Goa at Mumbai on23rd October at 1 pm.

The Bar Council has asked Advocate General Mr. Subodh Kantak and Adv.Aires Rodrigues to remain present for the hearing of the case before the 27 member committee which comprises the full house of the Bar Council of Maharastra and Goa.

Mr. Subodh Kantak by virtue of being the Advocate General of Goa is anex-officio member of the Bar Council. When a complaint is filed against any of its members the same is always heard by a full house.

Adv. Aires Rodrigues in his complaint had drawn the attention of the Bar Council to a note moved by Advocate General Subodh Kantak on 15th July 2005 seeking to terminate the services of Special PublicProsecutors Mr. A.P. Cardozo and Mr. V.P.Thali who were handling the prosecution of criminal cases against former Ministers Mr. DayanandNarvekar, Mr. Mauvin Godinho and Mr. Somnath Zuwarkar. Prior to his becoming Advocate General, Mr. Subodh Kantak was defending theseformer Ministers in the various corruption related cases.

Adv. Aires Rodrigues has in his complaint stated that since Mr. Subodh Kantak had appeared for Dayanand Narvekar, Mauvin Godinho and SomnathZuwarkar before becoming Advocate General he could not have moved such a note to benefit his former minister clients.

Adv. Rodrigues has stated that the government records obtained by him under the Right to Information Act has revealed that Mr. Subodh Kantakas Advocate General had made recommendations for change of Special public prosecutors in criminal cases in which he had appeared earlierfor the accused former ministers.

Adv. Rodrigues has in his complaint stated that when this action of the government in changing the special Public Prosecutors was challenged in the High Court, Advocate General Subodh Kantak after his initial appearance for the State subsequently did not appear but continued to manipulate, monitor and co-coordinate every move in the petition before the High Court by even assisting in the drafting of affidavits.

Adv. Rodrigues has stated that Advocate General Mr. Subodh Kantak hadalso by a note dated 06/07/2006 proposed that the State of Goa engage the services of Senior Counsel from Mumbai Mr. Aspi Chinoy with feesof Rs 1,35,000 per appearance along with Adv. Nitin Sardesai and Mr.Mahesh Sonak with fees of Rs 5000 per appearance to defend his formerminister clients in the High Court.

Adv. Rodrigues also stated that Advocate General Subodh Kantak held aclosed door meeting with Senior Counsel Mr. Aspi Chinoy on 3rd July2006 in Room No 125 at Mariott Hotel, Miramar to discuss the strategy of the government in the case against his former minister clients.

Adv. Rodrigues has sent to the Bar Council the notings of the files obtained from the Law department under the Right to Information Act which clearly reveals that Mr. Subodh Kantak as Advocate General had acted in rank violation of professional ethics.

Stating that Mr. Subodh Kantak’s acts amounted to a conflict of interest, Adv. Rodrigues has in his complaint stated that Mr. SubodhKantak misused his position as Advocate General of the State, to oblige his political masters Mr. Dayanand Narvekar, Mr. Somanth Zuwarkar and Mr. Mauvin Godinho, whom he was earlier representing.

Demanding action by the Bar Council against Advocate General Mr.Subodh Kantak, Adv. Aires Rodrigues has in his complaint stated that the actions of Mr. Subodh Kantak was gross interference in the process of administration of justice and that Mr. Subodh Kantak had degraded the high constitutional post of Advocate General.

MARGAO HAS NOT GAINED DESPITE HAVING A RESIDENT CM.

Margao Has Not Gained Despite Having A Resident CM.

The gong has sounded and the bugle is blown, Ali Baba has finally begun his work in earnest after partying and lazing for five full years. The news that our CM, Digambar Kamat has kick started his campaign and that to with a visit to the Gandhi market in Margao is not surprising at all, blessing between Digambar Kamat and his migrant vote bank have been mutual for a long time now, they do support and bless each other, as they do depend on each other for their very survival.

The last two months or so have been rough on our CM, with all the illegal mining dust being blown in his direction but has survived the onslaught so far and looks confidant of retaining his hold on the most coveted and sought after prized possession within the Goa Vidhan Sabah, to be precise the CM’s chair, the throne that rules thou thee Oh Goa.

The generosity of our conniving politicians just before the election has always been overwhelming, followed by promises and assurances and we all know that our CM is an expert on that front, as he was born with the vital virtue. As he went around his constituency, he has now promised government jobs to the unemployed youth, looks like in the last twelve years there have been no vacancies and no unemployed youth in his constituency and all of a sudden today he has realized otherwise and promised to give government jobs to his unemployed youth.
But, what I fail to understand is, when did he get the Goa Employment Exchange for dowry ? How can he give jobs so easily to the youth of his constituency when our Employment Exchange has been at a standstill for decades ? Or is the recruitment to government jobs his own personal family business ? After more than a decade he has now realized that the youth in his constituency need jobs ? Is he not aware that the unemployment in Goa has skyrocketed and that the entire youth of Goa has the right to government jobs and not just his damned constituency ? All these years’ jobs have been sold to insiders and outsiders for a hefty price as a result of which our Employment Exchange has been forced to a standstill and its numbers have been ever increasing.

What is the point of an Employment Exchange if our politicians tend to distribute and sell jobs to whom they please and as they please ? It is extremely unfair and unfortunate, for the youth who have turned old in their long wait for a government job and still, their turn is yet to come. That is one basic reason why we need our Employment Exchange to be transparent and free form political clout and influence. Employment Exchange to function at its best surely needs autonomy and transparency, under the ambit of the RTI act, only then our Employment Exchange can move forward and nepotism and prejudice can be wiped out.

Today our corrupt politicians need to disperse artificial inducements to get votes as they fail in their commitment to the people at large, because of which anxiety has replaced anticipation, now that their actions have amplified their indiscretions and perfidy. So it’s not at all surprising that CM, Digambar Kamat is soliciting in the streets of his constituency in an attempt to refurbish his now flagging image.

Madgaokars know that all of his last pre election promises are yet to be fulfilled, as garbage is still a major problem in Margao, along with the traffic chaos and woes, crime and robberies frequent occurrences, if not daily, Monti Dongor still an aberration, water and power scarce as ever, markets as messy as ever, the Comba underpass still in dire state, even finding a parking slot is become as difficult as finding an honest politician and the Costa ground issue is still not a closed chapter, so what has actually Margao gained by having it’s resident as the Chief Minister of Goa ? If he cannot take care of his own backyard, how can he take care of Goa ? Madgaokars time to ponder and act !

CM DIGAMBAR KAMAT SUPPORTS GOONDA.

NOTED HISTORY SHEETER SANDEEP VAIGANKAR GETS A GOVERNMENT JOB.

Noted history sheeter from Taleigao Mr. Sandeep Vaigankar has now beenrecruited as a driver by the Goa Government in the Education Department. Mr. Vaigankar is one of the 15 drivers selected by Education Minister Babush Monseratte as regular full-time government employees.

Mr. Sandeep Vaigankar is the main accused in the brutal attack on Adv.Aires Rodrigues and historian Prajal Sakhardande at Ashok Restaurantat Panaji on October 13th 2008. Sandeep Vaigankar and five others have charged with attempting to kill and grievously injure Adv. Aires Rodrigues.

Their trial is currently going on before the Addl Sessions Judge at Panaji. At the time of the attack on Adv. Aires Rodrigues, Mr. SandeepVaigankar was working as a daily wages Supervisor at the Corporation of City of Panaji and has been known to be a very close associate ofMr. Babush Monseratte.

Mr. Sandeep Vaigankar is reportedly also on the recently drawn Goonda list prepared by the Goa Police for probable detention under the National Security Act. Reacting to the recruitment of Mr. Sandeep Vaigankar in the Education department, Adv. Aires Rodrigues today stated that there was nothing surprising or shocking over the appointment as those alike always cometogether from the boss to the driver.

Adv. Rodrigues added that when we elect history sheeters they in turnneed birds of the same feathers to carry out their agenda.

It being the rule of the mafia that like Godfather like driver and hitman, Adv. Rodrigues further stated that their agenda can be carried out only with mafiosi placed all over.

Commenting that it was “Satyameva Jayate" in Kaliyug, Adv. Rodrigues added that with the blessings of Chief Minister Digambar Kamat history sheeters in the cabinet were now breeding history sheeters in the administration and that the mafia takeover would soon be complete.

CHURCHILL ALEMAO BOOED IN SHHARJAH.

Worthy Occasion Turned Unworthy.

Last weekend, the13th October was like any other weekend in the UAE, except for the fact that the one time cause of sleepless nights of a lot of Goan males and who had once held sway on the Konkanni stage along with her late husband for many a decades, the one and only Rita Rose was suppose to be live on stage at the Sharjah Church hall along with the undisputed queen of Goan melody, the exceptionally unique Lorna was enough to send a lot of us on a leather hunt for tickets.

Lorna I had met here in Dubai before but I had not seen Rita Rose live for a good many years, and I was very eager but due to some unavoidable circumstances my pals and I reached just when the second song was being sung and It was a good performance, then came Lorna to the boisterous and rousing ovation and she did not disappoint us, the power of her vocals has not diminished at all and her energy levels must have given a lot of youngsters a complexity, comparatively and surprisingly Rita’s performance was subdued but none the less enjoyed seeing her on stage and even today she looks marvelous, she has lost some pounds but still appealing none the less. Seeing the two greatest Konkanni singers on stage together was surely “paisa vasool”.

It was then the cat was let out of the bag, this program was a birthday celebration of our Goan priest Rev. Fr. Rodson of the Sharjah Church, a priest who has captured the hearts, minds and imaginations of many a people in this part of the world. Some years ago he was invited for the Novenas and the feast of St. Francis Xavier and the impact of his preaching was so great that the Sharjah Parish priest asked the Church Authorities in Goa for the services of Rev. Fr. Rodson on a permanent basis, since then people have just been flocking to the Sharjah Church in the hope of getting to listen to his sermons.

It was nice of the all those involved in organizing and bringing his parents for this celebration, it was indeed a pleasant surprise for Rev. Fr. Rodson himself to find his parents at the celebration and he was lost for words. Rev. Fr.Rodson has been a priest who have had a tremendous effect on the entire Catholic community of Sharjah and more so the youth. Sharjah will be eternally grateful for his services and we all wish him all the health, joy, peace, love and happiness as he works in the Vineyard of the Lord.

Along with the surprise presence of the Parents of Rev. Fr. Rodson there was also another bigger surprise awaiting us, the imposing figure of the PWD Minister of Goa in spotless whites, which was in complete violation to the virtue that he carries, yet again trying to fool people, of what he stands for. His very presence indeed defiled the otherwise worthy occasion. As he was invited to say a few words, loud boos greeted him and the very sight of him walking to the stage made me sick to the pit of my stomach and I left the hall to relieve myself and into the compound, on my way back I was fortunate enough to meet Rita Rose and had the opportunity of a one on one talk with her, I will indeed treasure the few minutes with the Konkanni stage deity for a long long time.

As the program continued there were constant boos thrown in the direction of the PWD minister and it got only worse when the so called Dubai trio, projected the PWD minister as a worthy CM and unfurled his picture on stage, which was utter blasphemy if there was ever one. Looked like the Dubai trio, are certainly feeding on the crumbs of the PWD Minister and possibly expecting sponsorships for their endeavors in the near future, they criticized Digambar Kamat but were unfortunately singing paeans of the bigger anomaly than Kamat, it was bootlicking at its worst.
I did make my feelings very clear to the person who held his portrait while singing, after the show in no uncertain terms. It would have certainly been better for them to keep his portrait at their respective homes and worship him with incense rather then unfurl it at this worthy occasion, even Rev. Fr. Rodson was feeling out of sorts in the presence of the anomaly, but what else could he do, the boot lickers had invited him for his birthday celebrations. The essence and the beauty of the birthday celebrations of Rev. Fr. Rodson were certainly undone by the presence of this anomaly called Churchill Alemao and that too in spotless whites, a man with white on the outside, while filled with muck inside.

Even though all the people love and respect Rev Fr. Rodson, it was indeed unfortunate that some just could not help but boo the PWD Minister and if it wasn’t for the birthday, I am sure the boos would have grown in intensity and frequency. I humbly request to the organizers and the Sharjah Goan Community, not to dilute the essence of such beautiful and meaningful celebrations by inviting corrupt and anti Goan politicians. There is an age old adage in Konkanni “Ami atrun polloun paim sodche”. If we cannot afford entertainment without the sponsorships of our corrupt politicians please do not go for it, we Goan would prefer to stay home than to be a part of the celebrations sponsored by the blood money derived from selling and raping Goa.

GOVT. GIVES A DOSE ON PROFESSIONAL ETHICS TO ADV. GEN. SUBODH KANTAK.

GOVERNMENT GIVES ADVOCATE GENERAL SUBODH KANTAK A DOSE ON PROFESSIONAL ETHICS.

In a virtual castigation as to his professional misconduct the Goa Government by a written order has directed Advocate General Subodh Kantak to refrain from accepting any case from private parties evenwhere the State Government is just a formal party and even if no relief is sought against the Government.

The order issued by the Under Secretary Law on behalf of the Governor of Goa states that the most important duty of the Advocate General is to maintain a high level of dignity and honour while keeping the position of Advocate General above board and free from any aspersionsor criticism.

The Government’s decision to issue these directives to Advocate General Subodh Kantak came after the Bombay High Court forwarded to the Chief Secretary of Goa in October last year a complaint filed by Adv. Aires Rodrigues against Advocate General Subodh Kantak accusing him of appearing before the High Court for a private contractor in acase where the State of Goa was also a party

Adv. Rodrigues had complained to the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court that in Writ petition 365/2010 before the High Court filed byNMr. Govind Nagvenkar where the State of Goa was also a party, that Advocate General Mr. Subodh Kantak had appeared for one of the privateNcontractor Prime slots Events Private Ltd.

Interestingly it took the Goa Government almost a year to process this complaint against Advocate General Subodh Kantak. The file kept shuttling between the offices of Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, Law Secretary and Special Secretary Home inspite of Chief Minister Digambar Kamat’s clear directives to the administration that all files should be cleared within a week.

This is the second time Advocate General Mr Subodh Kantak has been censured by the Government. It may be recalled that after his infamous appearance in the Saleli case the Goa Government by an order issuedon 11th December 2008 had directed that Advocate General Subodh Kantakwould be entitled to only a single fee if two or more cases involving an identical question is heard together with a common argument and acommon judgment.

That order to the Advocate General was issued after Adv. Aires Rodrigues complained to the then Governor of Goa that Mr. Subodh Kantak had on 27th January 2006 appeared before the High Court in the batch of 102 Saleli bail applications and had raised a bill and was paid 102 times Rs 8000 i.e. Rs eight lakhs sixteen thousand though it was a common argument for the batch of bail applications and that Advocate General Mr. Subodh Kantak could have charged only a singlefee of Rs 8000/-.

Adv. Aires Rodrigues has today expressed anguish and concern that Advocate General Subodh Kantak had to be taught professional ethics bythe Government.

Stating that any other Advocate General having some self respect would have by now stepped down, Adv. Rodrigues has alleged that Mr. Subodh Kantak instead of upholding the dignity and decorum of the high constitutional post of Advocate General had by his gross misdeeds tarnished the image and sanctity of the Advocate General’s post.

MICKEY PACHECO - HERO IN KWAIT ON 30.9.11 & ZERO IN GOA ON 05.10.11.

Somewhat like that Patriot, it was nothing but Roses and Roses on the path of Mickey Pacheco when he came to Kuwait to attend the Tiatro in Kuwait on 30th of last month. He was fabulously applauded during his speech on the Tiatro Stage as seen in the picture below where he strongly criticised Goan politicians for introducing their family members into politics to loot Goa.

However, within a short period after returning to Goa from Kuwait there were no roses on his path but arrest warrant to take him to Sada Jail as a prisoner as seen in the photo below.

Why was he arrested? Because of his pride of arrogance and Ministerial "Dadageri". These intellectually bankrupt people when they acquire power then they act arrogant and like Dadas without realising that the Ministerial dadageri is not lasting. Mickey Pacheco was arrested because earlier at the height of his Ministerial power he slapped a government servant working as an electrical engineer.

Was it right for Mickey Pacheco to raise his hand on anyone even that anyone was wrong? Was Mickey Pacheco Hitler or Bhattkar during the Portuguese era? Like this earlier Portuguese Pakle used to act many times against Goans because Goa was then their "Paicho Fath". Why Mickey Pacheco forgot his humble background after becoming a Minister? Or is Ministership goes parallel to Dadageri, pride and arrogance? It looks like in India in general and Goa in particular.

Was yesterday when Mickey Pacheco a Minister, Goa was his "Xepaicho Fath" to take law into his own hands and physicaly assault a public servant? When such rubbish politicians will change their Dadagiri? Because of such Dadagiri RATTOL snatched precious life from one woman.

I strongly commend the Engineer who received the slap of Mickey Pacheco to fight for justice till Mickey Pacheco was taught a very good lesson.

GOA POLICE DIRECTS ADVOCATE AMIT DESAI TO RETURN THE FIVE LAKHS.

GOA POLICE DIRECTS ADVOCATE AMIT DESAI TO RETURN THE FIVE LAKHS.

Acting on a complaint filed by Adv. Aires Rodrigues the Superintendentof Police North Goa Mr. Arvind Gawas has today directed Mumbai SeniorAdvocate Amit Desai to immediately return the five lakhs he had fraudulently billed the Goa Government for four hearings he had never appeared for before the Bombay High Court at Goa in the Ryan Fernandesconfirmation of death sentence case.

Adv. Aires Rodrigues had in his complaint to the Panaji Police stated that Advocate Amit Desai had billed the Goa Government Rs 3, 75,000for appearing before the Bombay High Court at Goa on 26th, 27th and 28th November 2008 and another Rs 1, 25,000 for an appearance on 13th Jan 2009 but that the Court records do not show his appearance. onthose dates.

Adv. Rodrigues has today stated that besides recovering the money from Adv. Amit Desai the Goa police should also prosecute Adv. Amit Desai and Adv. Ashwin Bhobe for committing offences of cheating, misappropriation of property, and breach of trust under Section 420,r/w Sec 34 & section 120-B of the Indian Penal Code. Adv Rodrigues has stated that Adv. Amit Desai’s raising the bills was a clear act of cheating, while Adv. Ashwin Bhobe criminally conspired and corroborated in the act by submitting those bills to the government inspite of knowing that the bills were falsely raised and there were factually no such court appearances by Adv. Amit Desai.

Adv. Rodrigues has also demanded that it should be probed as to why Advocate General Mr. Subodh Kantak had recommended the name of Adv. Amit Desai to appear in the case at a whopping fee of Rs 1, 25, 000 per hearing when there were so many experienced Public Prosecutors and Advocates in Goa.

Adv. Rodrigues has stated that he would be also requesting the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court Mohit Shah to immediately withdraw the Senior Advocate status conferred on Adv. Amit Desai.

I STRONGLY CONDEMN ASSAULT ON PRASHANT BHUSHAN.

Prashant Bhusan is the prominent and reputed member of Indian society involved in the social causes in India. He is the member of Team Anna that is fighting for the introdctin in the Parliament of Lok Pal Bill. As a member of Indian community and as permitted by the constitutin he spoke freely in a free county in India about situation in Indian Kashmir saying that

"THE INDIAN GOVERNMENT SHOULD REMOVE THE ARMY FROM KASHMIR AND ALLOW THE PEOPLE TO VOTE ON WHETHER THEY WANT TO STAY WITH INDIA OR NOT"

Two days back his detractors under the Delhi based group "Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena" while Bhusahan was in the Supreme Court Lawyers' Chamber took law into their own hands and assaulted Buhasan mercilessly asking Bhushan "who gave you autority to devide the country?"

Bhusahn did not devide the country but he expressed his own view for the good of the country. This country was already devided into many pieces from what it was under the British before the independence. God forbid, this country India will still split further if the ongoing corruption is not halted. The further split of India will be created by the corrupt politicians of India who are rulling India with corrupt practices and the narrow patriotic minded Senas who think they are more Indians than other Indians.

Kashmiris are fighting since independence for the separate Kashmir for them. As Bushan said, UNO also said in the beginning at the time of India's independence to hold Plebiscite on Khasmir in Kahsmir. For some reasons valid or invalid that vote was not taken and abruptly the end came to what we see now.

Kashmir is the big headache for India. Kahsmiris are demanding self rule for them beyond the supervision of India. India has recognised this problem but cannot go ahead in giving indepedence or more autonomy to Kashmir. World oppinion is mounting against India for forcibly keeping Kashmir under its rule. Because of this India's image is getting tarnished in the global politics. This is an era of freedom and independence and not of suppression and domination.

People in Kashmir feel they are supressed by Indian government and for this supression it cost India a lot in finance and manpower. Is it worth? For the time being it may be but in the long run not only Kashmir but even the other parts of India will follow Kashmiir if our political leaders are not changing their autocratic style of ruling India. India will not need Pakistan or China to split itself but Indian corrupt politicians themselves will help splitting of India. India is kept united in the prsent form by force by the authorities at centre. This force wil not be lasting. People in India are fed up of the corruption let lose on India and Indians by our political leaders. The time for revolt and violent revolt will come soon though I preder peaceful revolt.

Who ever thought Soviet Russia a mighty Super Power will split into pieces 20 years back after 7 decades of suppression of their people under corrupt communist rule? Who can say the same thing will not happen in India if our political leaders do not act wisely now only? Tomorrow is very unpredictable and anything can happen tomorrow not only for Kashmiris even without takig a vote or for that matter to anybody in India. India's foundation is based on weak base which may collapse at any time either today or tomorrow. God forbid, I dont want this to happen but Indian political leadership and parochial Senas are paving the way for it.

CHURCHILL ALEMAO & VIJAY SARDESAI ARE TWO SIDES OF THE SAME COIN.

By Nisser Dias.
13th Oct 2011.

Churchill Alemao and Vijay Sardessai are two sides of the same coin.

The recent mud-slinging match or rather washing dirty linen in public by the PWD minister Churchill Alemao and his bête noire and Goa Pradesh Congress Committee general secretary and Fatorda candidate in waiting Vijay Sardessai brings to the fore the dark side of politics. Especially when these two personalities go back a long way, but today they are spitting venom against each other as both of them are trying to sabotage each other’s interests. As of today Vijay Sardessai has won a round against the Varca strong man by getting Pratima Coutinho elected as the president of Youth Congress in Goa and for that he might have pay heavily at the 2012 assembly election.

But knowing how shrewd and cunning Vijay is, he is not likely to allow Churchill to have the floor all to himself as the Fatorda candidate-in-waiting knows the fine nuances of his mentor’s working, functioning and machinations which makes it easier for him to plan the counter move. Ironically he has been talking about Churchill’s money and muscle power. Has Vijay not resorted to such tactics. How has Vijay been permitted to construct his residential house, plum, in the middle of the agricultural land? If one digs into the past and present of Vijay’s life, lot’s of skeletons are likely to tumble from his closet and that too without being elected. One can simply wonder how far his tentacles will reach if elected.

But, Vijay Sardessai cannot deny that he climbed the social and political ladder using the Alemao brothers. Not only that, Vijay whose credibility in the eyes of the general masses is abysmal, was under Churchill’s protection from his college days. Infact I would define Churchill Alemao and Vijay Sardessai as two sides of the same coin. And can we forget that they even have a common friend who is allegedly well connected in the Bombay underworld and who was also in the thick of the gold smuggling case involving the Alemao family. Of course in the initial days of the rift between the veteran and novice politicians this common friend tried to act as the mediator but it could not be fructified as there were already differences in business deals between Churchill and Vijay which could not be resolved as Churchill wanted the lion’s share as usual.

It was really interesting to note Vijay Sardessai making the disclosure that Churchill Alemao had received ‘supari’ from the BJP at the last assembly hustings to defeat congress candidates in the Salcete so as to ensure BJP comes to power. Who else would know such details if not for the former co-opted councilor of Margao Municipal Council. But what I would like to know is, did Vijay Sardessai bring it to the notice of his party then that Churchill was under the BJP’s influence, if so why did he not make a statement in the press then as the general secretary of the party. This indicates that Vijay who has so far faced only defeats at elections is equally guilty. And Churchill himself has made it amply clear yesterday when he said that Vijay has been with him for the last 18 years.

This is not the only time that the GPCC secretary has worked against the Congress. Can we forget Vijay Sardessai’s role in Babush Monserrate ditching Congress at the eleventh hour during the last assembly election and getting elected on UGDP ticket? Even though as a general secretary of the Congress he was privy to intra party discussion he was also seen in company of Babush. Then, was Vijay not in the know how when Churchill Alemao tried to the topple the Digambar Kamat as chief minister within three months of forming the government? He had easy access to the GPCC deliberations to save the government as well as he had free access to the detractors or rather coup members who had holed up in star hotels. During the run-up to the last assembly elections Vijay Sardessai was asked by the media whether he would support other Congress candidate in Fatorda constituency if he was not allotted the party ticket to contest the election, he had categorically said that he would contest the polls irrespective of the ticket. Thus Vijay Sardessai is equally a traitor and a turncoat like Churchill Alemao and lot other Congress men.

Vijay’s recent grouse against his mentor turned enemy is that Churchill attended the finals of a football match organized by his rivals thereby giving them the moral boost to file their nominations at the upcoming assembly elections from Fatorda constituency which would lead to division of votes due to which Sardessai feels that Congress candidate or rather he will not win the seat. Of course it is said that politics should be kept away from sports. If Churchill wants to plot against his bête noire and field candidate he has the potential to do it without being seen, just because he puts a public appearance and shares the dais with some other politicians cannot be taken as he is working against the interest of the Congress.

If that is the case why did Vijay Sardessai attend Edwin Barretto’s birthday bash, knowing very well that Churchill is desperately trying to corner Benaulim Congress ticket for his daughter Valanka and that Cavelossim sarpanch Edwin has also staked his claim for it. Both Churchill Alemao and Vijay Sardessai are trying to rub salt in other’s wounds to safeguard their political interest. They have absolutely no interest in the well being and development of Goa and Goans and thus such politicians should be ousted and not given an entry into politics. In politics it is said there are no permanent friends or enemies only marriage of convenience.

And now for a tailpiece – Churchill Alemao has said during the laying of foundation stone for multi crore project that he would retire from politics if he does get elected from Navelim. For Churchill politics is not only his bread and butter but jam also. Lest we forget that the constituents of Benaulim constituency had retired him from politics. He was given a reprieve by Congress party to contest south Goa MP election and he was defeated there too, but shamelessly he came back. What Churchill Alemao does in politics in the next five years will be for his pension fund.

UGC 36TH SOCCER TOURNEY IN KUWAIT.

UNITED GOANS CENTER 36th TOURNEY KICKS OFF WITH 19 PARTICIPATING TEAMS.

Goa Maroons, Curtorcares United, Skynet and DHL emerged victorious in Week 1:

The 36th edition began with four games played on October 7th at Shuwaikh MOH grounds. A one minute silence was observed at the beginning of all the games for the sad demise of the father of AVC player Molvito Mascarenhas.

In the first match Goa Maroons took on Santos Football Club, Goa Maroons took advantage of a defensive lapse from Santos keeper and No. 17 Steven Rodrigues made no mistake in scoring. Goa Maroons then began to gain more control in the midfield over Santos and began dominating proceedings. Steven Rodrigues scored in twenty minutes of the game from a fine cross to double the lead. In the second half, Goa Maroons picked up where they left off from and Steven finished with four goals in the game. Santos defense were not able to stop him. Goa Maroons was not done yet, Kennedy scored from a spot kick and Patrick had a class finish to end the game at 6-0 in favor of Maroons. This was a fine display of football from Goa Maroons and they clearly outplayed their opponents. This match was refereed by Edward, Connie and Casmiro.

The second match began at 8:00, where FC Sparx took on Curtorcares United. FC Sparx started well taking advantage of a defensive lapse at the back and Rajesh Gopal was there to make a clean finish. But the experience of Curtocares began to show when they started to play good attacking football and creating a lot of goal scoring chances, but were denied by the FC Sparx keeper. Towards the end of the first half, Curtocares had a free kick and No.19 Jose Cardozo well placed shot gave the keeper no chance and the match was leveled during half-time. Curtocares started the second half looking for the win but the FC Sparx defense was not making it easy for them. No.6 Braz of Curtocares found the answer from a long range effort which the Sparx keeper failed to keep out. No. 27 Kevin of FC Sparx had a chance to level the game but the keeper made a fine save to deny the equalizer. The match ended in Curtocares favor and credit goes to them as they filled their team without some of their regular players. This match was refereed by Jerry, Arnold and Roshan.

In the third match, last year’s champions United Friends Clubs were beaten by Skynet by a goal margin. Both the teams started playing well in the first half but failed to apply the finishing touches in front of goal. Marcelin of Skynet hit the post, but Domnic of Skynet took his chance when UFC failed to mark him at the back. Remedio who played really well last year and was instrumental in the success of UFC winning the cup then, received two yellow cards in the first half and was deservedly sent off. Playing a man down was always going to be difficult for UFC, and they tried everything posible. Edward from Skynet had a good game marshaling his players from the mid and springing attack from the flanks. His skillful play created a lot of pressure for the UFC backs. They had a few good chances but they were unable to beat the keeper. Even in the dying minutes, UFC had a golden opportunity to equalize but they failed to do so. Skynet held on to their slender lead to progress to the next stage. The match officials for this game were Edward, Rosario and Connie.

In the last match DHL donning their favorite yellow jersey and Navelim in blue was a thrilling encounter. Both the teams started very strongly but it was DHL first shot on goal by Basheer hit the post and the rebound was collected by the keeper. No. 18 Anil Takuri drilled a ferocious shot as he was left unmarked by the Navelim defense to give DHL the lead in the first half. Navelim responded with a double subsitituion in the first half. DHL continued to play and created more chances among the two. The second half started with Navelim eager to find the equalizer and Cruzeido Rodrigues sharp header leveled the match. DHL then bought on a couple of substitutes who immediately made an impact. Terrance #4 took a cracking shot on goal to give DHL the lead 2-0. DHL scored another goal to make it 3-1 but it was ruled offside by the referee. Navelim created some chances but they failed to find target or trouble the keeper. DHL will face Curtocares in the next round and Goa Maroons will face Skynet Raiders. This match was refereed by Jerry, Victor and Romeo.

THE ANSWER IS FRIGHTENING.

Bob Dylan’s song “Blowing in the wind” inspired me to write about Digambar Kamat and mining.

The Answer Is Frightening Indeed

How many times will Kamat turn his head,
pretend that he just doesn’t see ?
For how many more years will our rivers be silted,
before they overflow their banks?
How many more floods do we need to see,
Before Kamat realizes his folly ?

The answer my friend is frightening indeed,
the answer is frightening indeed.

How many more explosives do need to explode,
before our forests are destroyed ?
How many more years can our mountains sustain,
before they are reduced to mere rubble?
How many years will they continue their assault,
before whole of Goa is devoured ?

The answer my friend is frightening indeed,
the answer is frightening indeed.

How many more wells and springs should go dry,
Before we all die of thirst ?
How much more land should be made infertile,
Before hunger kills us all ?
And how many more deaths and disasters will it take,
to realise that it’s not just worth it ?

The answer my friend is frightening indeed,
the answer is frightening indeed.

For how much longer will Kamat play dumb,
and say that illegal mining doesn't exist?
How many more years will Kamat’s eyes be closed,
before he sees and accepts the truth ?
And how many more ears should Kamat have,
before he can hear our people cry ?

The answer my friend is frightening indeed,
the answer is frightening indeed.
The answer my friend is certainly blowing in the wind,
the answer is blowing in the wind.

WITH POLITICAL BLESSINGS TWO GOVT. OFFICERS REFUSE PROMOTION.

WITH POLITICAL BLESSINGS TWO GOVT OFFICERS REFUSE PROMOTION.

While most government officers actively lobby for promotion, in afirst of its kind two Goa government officers have refused to accept the promotion accorded to them. The two officers have managed to get their promotions cancelled for now. This has been revealed in information obtained by Adv Aires Rodrigues under the Right toInformation Act.

By an order dated 8th August 2011 the Goa Government had promoted Margao Civil Registrar Mr. Chandrakant Pissurlekar as Deputy District Registrar. Mr. Pissurlekar who hails from Speaker Pratapsingh Rane’s Poriem constituency has managed through political patronage to scuttle his promotion and continue as Margao Civil Registrar. Mr. Pissurlekar was promoted as Deputy District Registrar and not District Registrar as he does not have a degree in law which is mandatory for the post ofDistrict Registrar according to the recruitment rules.

By an another order also issued on 8th August 2011 Ponda Civil Registrar Mr. Ramdas Pednekar was promoted as District Registrar. It has been alleged that he too has canceled his promotion and continues as Ponda Civil Registrar with the blessings of his political godfathers.

Interestingly Mr. Ramdas Pednekar while declining to accept his promotion, cited health reasons stating that he was suffering from back problems. Ironically Mr. Pednekar who lives at Mapusa and is currently posted as Civil Registrar Ponda would have been posted at Panaji and would infact have had to travel 30 kms less every morning to reach his workplace had he accepted the promotion.

Both the officers who are currently Class B officers had been promotedas Class A gazetted officers and their monthly pay emoluments wouldhave been enhanced by around Rs 15,000/-. The question worth askingis why have the officers refused the promotions.

Adv. Aires Rodrigues has today stated that the case in point reflectsthe total collapse in the administration with officers now refusing apromotion to remain at their current lucrative postings.

Adv. Rodrigues has alleged that the two officers prefer to remain asCivil registrars at the taluka level so that they can gain more illegal pecuniary benefits by fleecing the public as Civil Registrars.

Adv. Rodrigues has stated that these two officers have refused thepromotion because their posting at the head office on promotion wouldhave effectively terminated their corrupt practices.

Stating that the motives of these two officers are very clear, Adv.Rodrigues has stated that so many complaints of corrupt practices were pending against them with the Goa Government.

Adv. Rodrigues has demanded that Chief Minister Digambar Kamat andChief Secretary Sanjay Srivastava should crack the whip on these two erring officers who have declined their promotion for ulterior motives.

THE GOAN MEDIA.

The Goan Media

There is absolutely no doubt that, today media sells on tragedies and scams, be it the idiot box or be it the print media, the escalation of prime time coverage on TV is always directly proportional to the intensity and the enormity of the tragedy or scam and the same applies to the explosive headlines on the front pages of print media, so while the media thrives and resonates on scams and tragedies and we are fed with an overdose of overt action and synthetic empathy, the media houses laugh their way to the banks. Scams and tragedies do indeed provide a revenue torrent to media biz.

We witnessed the 26/11 tragedy as it unfolded, live and on print, which went on well beyond and after the embers had died down in the chill of the Indian winter. Of late media biz has been overwhelmed and overworked, feasting over scams that have been erupting like poppers at a parties and the Congress has been the most generous contributor to the overdose and to the coffers of the media houses. The BJP too has not lagged behind in their generosity, with the carnival in the Karnataka legislative assembly and the crowning “gory” of the Reddy brothers in acquiring their colossal wealth and ofcourse how can we forget the Ramlila and Anna’s fasting jaunts along with the ostensible change in “Moditva” ideologies.

On one side the media houses are happy with the overstretched limits of coverage and on the other side, the people who are just waiting to read about and watch, the next disaster or scam unfold and explode, get their daily dose of fix. Except, who is complaining, even as the next scam erupts or the next tragedy occurs on the tail of the previous, both, the people and the media tend to forget the harsh realities of the past incidents and begin feasting on the new. We all do tend to have very short memories, even though we ominously display even short fuses at anything and everything. This embedded culture compels deep introspection about the activities, responsibilities and the responses of both the media as well as the people.

Media can be informative as well as educative, media can change situations, emotions and opinions in a its wake, media can make or break movements and persons, media can also expose treachery and hypocrisy and so basically media is an essential tool of our daily lives and it certainly has greater responsibilities towards the masses on what and how, they present the issues and facts with malice or bias towards none and should not resort to irresponsible and morbid presentations. Our media should be worthy of the principles of democracy that we all seek.

In Goa’s post liberation history too, media has always been a major player, be it the Opinion poll, Konkanni movement or the epileptic RP’s and SEZ issues, which it helped to gain momentum and turn them into human tsunamis, bringing our politicians to their knees. Peoples power to the fore thanks to the media.

Today as we contemplate on the issues plaguing our once beautiful serene land, a lot has been said and written about the mining scam in Goa, which has not just become a national issue but an international one and due credit must be given to the Goan, as well as the national media in helping to expose the conspiracy of illegal mining in Goa, hatched by our very own elected members, the very people who were given a mandate to work for the welfare of our land and our people but failed miserably in the wake of their own primitive and skewed agendas.

Even though the media has been overworking in exposing illegal mining in Goa in the past few weeks, I am still skeptical of the media and the part it has played so far, as some major media players in Goa are somehow connected to the mining industry, if not on their payrolls and it is this liaison that could be detrimental to our Goan psyche and our holistic efforts to curb, if not stop illegal mining and that makes me weary of the Goan media.

It is said that the elephant has two sets of teeth, one set is for display, while the other is for crunching, I wonder which are the teeth that our Goan media is now showing ?
