We fully agree with the sentiments portrayed by the author, Veronica Fernandes above.
Gandhi Jayanti has indeed become irrelevant.
Today, it is widely reported that Dr. Manmohan Singh and Prathibha Devisingh Patil, India's Premier and the President respectively have been shocked by the Temple stampede deaths at Jodhpur in Rajasthan. We all are, when such unnecessary deaths occur. But the height of the hypocrisy is that no such shock has been displayed or forthcoming when innocent people (Christians) have been butchered, burnt, raped and and burried alive with thousands rendered homeless with their houses and property vandalised and destroyed, along with their places of worship by the Bajrang Dal fanatics of the BJP.
This same shamless duo who will be waxing eloquent tomorrow extolling the virtues and martyrdom of Gandhiji.
Shame on you Dr. Manmohan Singh. Double shame on you Pratibha Patil. Tomorrow, both your hypocritical faces should be blackened with sooth of the darkest order.
I fervently hope that Gandhiji comes to life tomorrow for just a moment to land a sound trashing to the backs of these two through his almighty cane.
