MISUSE OF OFFICIAL VEHICLE MUST STOP.

By Aires Rodrigues

The gross and rampant misuse of government vehicles for unofficial use by Ministers and Government officers must stop. The State exchequer should not be burdened with Government vehicles being used by the families of Ministers and government officers, for their private shopping trips, drops to railway stations, airport, bus depots, cinema, markets, places of worship, taking children to school, going to restaurants, attending private functions and picnics etc. We even see the official vehicles being used to go to Casinos too!

After official duties all vehicles should remain parked at the residence of the officers and Ministers or at the Secretariat in Porvorim. The spouses and children of Ministers and officers should get used to the public transport or better still, walk rather than ride, which will also do immense good to their health.

So next time you see an official vehicle being misused for unofficial work don't be a mere spectator. Don't deflate the tyres either but just call the police control room and register your complaint. Misusing government vehicles is definitely an offence which should not be taken lightly. Official vehicles can and should be used only for official work.
