TIATRO "UNDIR MOGAN PODLA" BY ROSEFERNS
Roseferns, one of the
heavyweight directors of Konkani Stage, on
Sunday, 5th of July 2015, staged the first show of his new Tiatro
“UNDIR MOGAN PODLA” at Mapusa, starting at 10.30 AM and ending at 2.00 PM. This was Roseferns 83rd production
and it was well enacted by all the artistes and well scripted as well as well directed by Roseferns who is also called “The King of Centuries & The
King of Parables”. Roseferns currently
is a name and fame and since this is the case the Hall was packed to capacity
for this Show.
Xavier - Lawry - Marcos singing their trio
The story was based on
the current Goan politics where the title is used figuratively to indicate a
Non-Goan Migrant (Undir) who by bribing and by befriending the local cheap and
third class Goan politicians, climbs the
ladder of Goan politics till he contests the local Assembly election. For
the rest one will have to see the Tiatro personally as I desist from
giving the full story here since it is going to be staged all over Goa. But I feel more and more Goans must see this
Tiatro that creates an awakening in right direction for the next election.
Roma-Antonette-Olga singing their trio
One thing I can rightly
say that thru this Tiatro Roseferns has given a timely warning to Goans to be
careful in the coming election since the current political parties and mainly
the ruling party, have failed Goa and Goans.
The story is highly political in nature based on current politics in Goa
where the Government has taken U turn for all the pre-poll promises. I think among all the political Tiatros of
this season, this Tiatro is the best.
Roma & Tari in one of the scenes
The role played by Anil
Pednecar as Migrant was excellent, it was a very good character role he played
and I don’t think any other artiste could play such a role with such perfection. Tari deserves highest compliments for playing
a perfect role of a Police Officer first and later on as a politician. I can
easily equate him with some of the best of yesteryears. Antonette de Maina also played her role well
opposite to Rosario de Benaulim as his wife but she excelled in the later part
while doing her role of a mentally affected wife. In this role her each and every move was
meticulously enacted. Roma played her role
of a blind woman very appropriately.
Rosario de Benaulim did his role of a MLA as per the current required
norms. Though small the role of a priest
played by the director was excellent.
Lawry Travasso singing his solo
Though comedy failed to
infuse the thrills in the hall yet Selvy and his partners did their normal
best. During the last two comedy scenes,
it looked drab affair without much life.
However, to the credit of the director and of comedians, there was no
vulgarity, neither in words nor in action. In view of this everything and
everyone on the Stage looked decent and civilised. Kudos to the director.
Antonette & Selvy sing their duet
In the Side Show songs,
everything went on very well as almost all the songs were very good whether
solos or duos or duets or trios. Among all the singers, the beauty of Konkani
Stage Olga stole the whole show by rendering a beautiful solo based on current
Goan politics and politicians. She
carries the credit for being the first female to sing such highly political
songs. She even outpaced her male
counterparts in this area. She got
innumerable encores even to the extent of forcing the director to stop the play
and to allow her to sing as per the last encore. When she was singing the whole Hall in unison
was vibrating with clapping and whistling.
Such encores never before I saw for any female artiste except for M. Boyer
who incidentally falls into male category.
Precisely because of this she was honoured on the stage with a Memento. Her
duet with her husband Anil was very good also.
Just like her looks her dress code too was very attractive for this duet.
Olga & Anil singing their duet
The other songs that
deserve especial mention were the solos of Lawry Travasso, Marcos Vaz and
Xavier Gomes; Duet of Selvy with Antonette de Maina; Trios of Xavier-Marcos
Vaz-Lawry Travasso and Roma-Antonette de Maina-Olga.
