CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL CATHOLICS ON 2 NEW SAINTS.

Congratulations to Catholics for having declared at a time Two Saints yesterday by the Vatican.  History has been recorded and we as Catholics should be very proud of this history. Though nothing is impossible with Vatican yet the pace of canonization of both these Popes, John Paul II and John XXIII was extraordinarily fast while that of both the Goan priests Fr. Agnelo and Fr. Joseph Vaz is extraordinarily slow for the reasons best known to Vatican only. It would have been a great pleasure to witness the canonization of both our holy priests together.  But this honour has been denied to us so far.  Let us meantime pray to God to help them to reach to the highest pedestal.

Saint John XXIII when he was the Pope he brought in revolution in the Church thru Second Vatican Council thereby bringing in progressive changes in the Church while Saint John Paul II as a Pope brought in revolutionary changes in this world starting first in his home country Poland by supporting the Solidarity movement and then by helping the demolition of the communism in Eastern Europe.   The globe-trotting Pope he travelled many parts of the globe including India to promote his doctrine of evangelization and democratization of the States system.

While Pope John Paul II exerted tremendous pressure on Eastern European governments including Soviet Russia to liberalize their rigid system of governance in the name of Christianity, both the Goan holy  priests remained dumb and deaf to the autocratic governance in Goa.  Both of them were guilty for not raising their voices against the harsh dictatorial government system existing in Goa under the colonial rule.

When Pope John Paul II moved forward,  both our Goan priests moved backward like slaves of the colonial rule and this point I think created more weight in favour of his canonization so fast while the canonization of both our holy priests is moving with Snail pace though both are standing on the edge of sainthood.  Will they both attain the sainthood during our life time?  I doubt very much.  They may never reach to their final destination because though they served God well yet they did not serve human beings with the same degree as they served God.  Like Pope John Paul II, they did not strive to fight with the colonial power in Goa to obtain freedom for Goa neither they fought against the Apartheid system practiced in Goan Churches.

MUSICIAN AGGY DIAS - ONE MAN BAND.

Seen in the picture above is a well-known Goan musician Aggy Dias from Panjim Goa playing Sexaphone.  This was during the Picnic Party organized yesterday at Hotel Goan Heritage, Calangute, by the management of Gulf Goans Hotels Co. for its Shareholders.  It was a full day party where the attendees were entertained with different games including Housie and served with Buffet.

Aggy Dias known as a "One Man Band" is not new to Hotel Goan Heritage, he was very much associated in rendering his musical service to this hotel in early nineties before migrating to Kuwait where he earned a good name for him as a very good musician. Yesterday to the delight of the attendees he played all the beautiful numbers - English, Portuguese and Konkani. Everyone enjoyed his music.

Director Chef Jerry Cal was singled out by the management for special award for taking care meticulously in the preparation of the Buffet.  Chef Jerry Cal when requested by the attendees after receiving his award, rendered a beautiful song "Calangute" the title song of his maiden Album CALANGUTE where he describes the greatness of Calangute of yesteryears by  naming the real great Calangutcars who brought name and fame for Calangute village.

MOYES SACKING - BETTER LATE THAN NEVER.

Though shocking the sacking yet it was expected not now but 6 months back the sacking of David Moyes the team manager of Manchester United when he failed to deliver the goods.  To step into the shoes of gigantic and brainy Alex Ferguson and attain success and that too in such a short time is not a joke.  For a manager to attain success lot of factors are required and not the game only that is played on the field. It is always the manager that is made scapegoat for the defeat of the team when he is not physically playing the game on the field.  He is only guiding the players how to play but the final action is in the hands of the players who are, if not more, then at least equally guilty of receiving defeats on the field. In view of this, along with the manager if not all then at least some players who play crucial role in the team should be sacked. If 11 playing members of the team cannot win the game then how one non playing member that is the manager can do the needful from outside the field?

A few years back, one prominent soccer club in Denmak replaced half a dozen managers within a dozen months when their team suffered spate of defeats, one after the other. In the Gulf they don’t keep the managers longer period if they fail to acquire the victories, they sack them by paying them their full financial settlement in accordance with the contractual obligation.

The team manager’s job is the most demanding job because every team wants victory and no team accepts defeat. Tele Santana the great manager of the great Brazil dream team of 1982 World Cup repented later on to accept this position because in Brazil’s defeat in this tournament made him realize how risky it is to be the team manager when your team suffers the loss. His woes became worse because in Brazil people are very emotional when soccer is concerned and for them a defeat for their team means an end to their dream. For this reason he later on remarked saying “nobody should accept the team manager's post in Brazil”. In Brazil, the team manager’s job of the national team is second to the post of the president of Brazil in terms of popularity and importance.

Tele Santana was such a genius manager that only the second time in the history of the soccer world that such a team was prepared and appeared on the soccer field. Some of the players of this team were not only soccer wizards but soccer magicians, namely Falcao, Zico, Eder, Dr. Socrates and Serginho. This team had everything in it required to win the World Cup except “LUCK” which is very imperative to win the Cup. Poor thing Tele Santana was unlucky not to have this factor called Luck.

Manchester United is one of the richest clubs in the world and it has a long history of playing excellent soccer by their excellent footballers of very high caliber recruited from all around the globe. It has its innumerable fans all around the world who cannot accept the defeat. The top management of this club spends millions with the expectation of victories not only at local level but also at national and international level. David Moyes as Manager has failed to gain the club the expected victories and hence the sacking which he accepted gracefully.

I wish David Moyes all the best in his next assignment but caution him to screen carefully the caliber of the players of the next team because it is the quality of the players that makes the success of the manager.  Mario Zagallo was given the charge of the great Brazilian squad of 1970 World Cup when Brazil won  the coveted Jules Rimet World Cup for the third time, just 6 months before the start of the tournament in Mexico and he became successful only because he had in his squad not only good players but super footballers such as rocky defender and skipper Carlos Alberto, attacking midfielder Rivelino, midfield maestro Clodoaldo who did super orchestrating with the ball and  all the attacking genius forwards, namely the great Pele, Jairzinho, Tostao and Gerson. Such forwards and such a team never appeared on the soccer field till now.  And probably even in future will not.  Such teams come to this planet only once in centuries.

GULF GOANS HOTELS CO'S ILLNESS.

By: Special Correspondent.

Formation of Gulf Goans Hotels Company by Kuwait Goans was the unique experiment conducted by the Goans  working in Kuwait and so far this is the only such experiment conducted by the expatriate Goans, thanks to the excellent initiative of dynamic Kuwait Goan Mr. Vincente D’Souza.  Hotel Goan Heritage erected at Ghauravaddo Calangute is the first and the only baby so far conceived in the womb of GGHC. It is now about a quarter of a century that this Hotel is functioning at a very lucrative place but according to many who are directly and indirectly involved in its operation are disappointed that its management and administration is run by persons not fit to be there. Those who are running the day to day administration of this Hotel are irresponsible and unfit for the job. If this trend is not arrested now then there is every possibility for this great experiment to go to the dogs and God forbid  if it happens it will be a very sad moment for the patriotic Kuwait Goans.  The exorbitant unnecessary expenses done could have been avoided but the Board as a whole is not competent  because it comprised some inefficient elements whose job is not in the Board but elsewhere.

There is only one director among the twelve who is a very qualified and experienced person in running the Hotel business while the rest are having zero knowledge of Hotel business.  Majority of the directors are not fit to be in the board and  yet unfortunately they are sticking to their post shamelessly because they want  to avail of the free meals, free expensive drinks  and financial doles that they get for doing nothing worthwhile, besides they want to make show of their directorship. Most shameless directors are those who are based abroad and being outside India they are impotent to contribute anything. Two of the directors are known to have questionable character, one of them is Alex Wison Coelho  who was involved in financial irregularities of the community funds  besides  being  morally corrupt.  The other is Tony Cordeiro from Saligao who as per the information,  was disgracefully sacked for doing financial irregularities by his company in Kuwait.  Secondly up to now he has not disclosed the whereabout of the funds of Kuwait Goans Association of which he was one of the leading members.

When this is the case how one can rely on these  men to protect the interest of the Hotel? And as per the latest information Mr. Cordeiro  is aspiring to be the next Chairman of the Board when the current useless Chairman  retires permanently.  Entrusting the Chairman’s   Job to Cordeiro means a great risk.  During the invasion period of Kuwait he was at the helm of affairs for a few months in the absence of right man and during this period as per the available information he made a mess of everything in the Hotel,  good that Flav Pimenta the then Chairman was overseeing everything.   He was during this period feeding expensive food and drinks not only to his family and relatives but also to his Dogs and Cats, of course all F.O.C.  He got no knowledge of anything but he pretends to be a genius in running the Hotel business.  He is not even fit to be a Waiter and he is not adequately qualified academically having passed only SSC but speaks English as if he is come from Harward.  Share Holders must think very hard on this subject and take a very hard decision on this man if they want to save their Hotel.  He is the most selfish man and in this direction he will do anything.

The job of the Chairman is very important and currently to my assessment there is nobody in the Board who is competent enough to take up this job.  Shareholders have lost their hope in the Board to do right things to get better dividends for them.  Chairman’s job is not the job of a Ladru – Pedru type of a person.  It requires high competence and knowledge.  In view of this, Shareholders must be very assertive of their rights to express their views and not to leave this matter entirely into the hands of the Board.  GGHC is not the personal property of the Board to act irresponsibly.  This company belongs to the Shareholders whose voice must be sought.

On 26th of this Month, Hotel is hosting a Picnic party to the Shareholders.  During this time the share holders must discuss this subject among themselves and try to find out the way to knock out the unreliable man not only from the next post but also from the board itself otherwise there is every possibility for this corrupt man to knock down the entire Hotel from its location.  He is a shameless thick skinned man, not even feeling shy to show his face openly in public for the scandalous life he faced in Kuwait. For him and for such others Hotel interest goes to hell as long as they get their quota.

To repeat it again, Hotel is not the personal property of the Board but the way some are exploiting the Hotel  it looks there is no one to question them.  A few of them feel they own not only the Hotel but also the Shareholders. Unless the entire Board is revamped by throwing out by the Shareholders the useless Directors the situation will not change.  Most of the Directors are not fit to be there, they are a shame on the Board.

TIATRO "NIVAR AMKAM" AT SINQUERIM.

TIATRO  “NIVAR  AMKAM” By Francis de Tuem.

The newly released Tiatro “Nivar Amkam” written and directed by the well-known singer  Francis de Tuem was staged on 21st of this month, at Sinquerim, Bardez, in the Church compound attended by a good number of audience from the locality and also from the neighbouring places. Though scheduled to start at 7.00pm finally  it started at 8.15 pm.  No doubt the publicity for this Tiatro was not much done yet the response was good due to the tremendous efforts put in by all the Sinquerim parishioners under the stewardship of their dynamic and youthful Parish Priest who left no stone unturned to make this event a success.

In future for any of their such activities this writer if approached will surely provide good publicity in this forum, of course free of charge.

Sinquerim is a small village in Bardez touching Candolim and  coming under the jurisdiction of Candolim Panchayat was made famous during the Portuguese era by the Sinquerim Fort, famous Lighthouse, Millitary citadel and the beautiful Church immortalized by the renowned tiatrist from the neighbouring village Dando Candolim, the late Young Menezes in his beautiful song “Sant Laurence Bogta” the patron saint of Sinquerim Church, which goes thus:

SAM LORENCE BOGTA, SOMDIRAN EK VHODD OJAP GHODDTA,

ARE DAKTULO GHANV TO SINQUERIMCHO ANI PORBEK TACHE GANVA GANVCHO LOK LODDTA etc.

Sinquerim in the olden days was well known for its Springs that generated medicinal water having curative effects and by having bath from  the water of these Springs the great educationist Fr. Lyon a non-Goan Deacon cured his deadly skin desease.  And as a  mark of gratitude for Sinquerim and Goa, he establised the first English High School of Goa at Arpora, Bardez, Goa.

In 1974 Sinquerim acquired name and fame because of the erection of the first Five Star Hotel of Goa by the Taj and this fame attained  crescendo when CHOGM meet of Non-Alligned Summit was held at Taj Hotel  Sinquerim.

Coming back to the Tiatro, In the past the great tiatrist the late Alexinho de Candolim  was known to introduce new tiatrists on Konkani Stage.  Similarly, in this Tiatro Francis de Tuem also introduced some new faces who played excellent roles and displayed their beautiful talent.  One of them was Jimmy who played the role of a Dotor, the others were Pradeep who played the role of Moratee, Sanjiv who played the beautiful role of a gambler and the young girl who played the role of elder daughter. Besides, Pascoal Rodriges, Comedian Jesus, Chitra and Anita played their respective roles very well.

In the sideshow songs Pascoal Rodrigues,  Lawry Travasso, Marcus Vaz, Xavier Gomes and Francis de Tuem rendered their solos well.
Local youth also showed their talent by performing Dhekni and other items.

Since it is a newly released tiatro which is going to be staged all over Goa, I refrained from disclosing the story part of it.

Musical score was beautifully provided by Norman Cardoso and his team of musicians comprising Saxaphone, Trumpet, Drums and Base Guitar.
The local MLA Michael Lobo along with others also attended the Tiatro and the local youth rendered a song eulogizing his simplicity and his developmental work in the constituency.

SPLIT PE. VIGAR'S JOB FROM THAT OF SCHOOL PRINCIPAL.

Monsg. Filipe Neri  Mendonca popularly known as Fr. Mendonca was the 3rd principal of the fist English High School of Goa, St. Joseph’s High School, Arpora.  About 35 years he worked as principal of that school. He was the great educationist of Goa having obtained first class in MA degree in Latin and acquiring second rank.  He died in August 1966 and interred at Arpora/Nagoa.  During Portuguese time he enjoyed highest respect from the Portuguese government for promoting English education in Goa.  During the critical time of the relationship between Indian government and Portuguese government in mid fifties, he acted as a peacemaker between the two governments with respect to educational matters concerning Goan students appearing for SSC thru Poona Board.  Regarding English education in Goa, the Portuguese Governador of Goa used to consult him on important decisions on education.  Many times he calmed down the Portuguese authority in favour of Goans in the matter of education and his voice had great respect before the Portuguese authority.

Immediately after the ouster of Portuguese from Goa, some Goan “goondas” from that locality came with Guns and Revolvers to kill Fr. Mendonca for being Portuguese government’s “chamcha” but a few minutes before  the final operation his personal driver sensed something serious would happen and immediately took him away from Arpora school to Bastora Nun’s School without anybody’s notice and thus the faithful driver saved the life of his boss.  This driver’s faithfulness towards his boss was an example of past century’s faithfulness. Though Supreme Court of India in its landmark judgment on Goa said that on 19th December 1961 Goa was not liberated but conquered yet Fr. Mendonca went a step forward and remarked openly in his school saying that Goa on that fateful date was not liberated but in fact was Invaded by Bahrat.

Fr. Mendonca was the first Goan educationist to receive the national award for being the best educationist of Goa after the ouster of colonial rule in Goa and this award was presented to him in New Delhi at Rastrapati Bhawan by the renowned philosopher educationist president of India Dr. Radakrishnan.  After the presentation of the award the president requested Fr. Mendonca to delay his return to Goa since he wanted to discuss some private matters with Fr. Mendonca concerning Portuguese administration in Goa.  Not satisfied with the discussion, the president again invited Fr. Mendonca to Delhi after 3 months to get more information of the subject about which nobody in Goa knew except Fr. Mendonca since his relationship with Portuguese government was very friendly especially with the last Portuguese Governador of Goa,  Vassalo e Silva.

After a few days from 19th December 1961 when the situation became normal in Goa, Fr. Mendonca returned from hiding at Bastora to his school at Arpora and resumed his school work.  Then immediately Goa Bishop Rebello appointed him as an adviser on Diocesan schools.  Candolim St. Theresa’s School was just shifted to the new location in the Church premises under the principalship of the Church Pe. Vigar, Pe.  Nicholau Noronha and Fr. Mendonca was advising Pe. Noronha on this school matters.  One day during his discussion with Pe. Noronha, Fr. Mendonca as a representative of the Bishop advised Pe. Noronha to stick up to only one job, either of Principal of the school or of Pe. Vigar of the Church because he said both the jobs are independent,  each needing  full time devotion and concentration.  However, in the end, Fr. Mendonca suggested to give priority to Pe. Vigar’s job which is the pastoral job for which Pe. Noronha became priest  and not to become school principal. Priest’s job is to do full time pastoral work and not of educational.

Fr. Freddy J. D’Costa when he first time came to Kuwait to stage his Tiatro in the Church hall, he approached the Kuwait Bishop Monsg. Frances Mechallef for permission for hall.  Mong. Mechallef refused his permission and immediately fired a letter to Goa Bishop Raul Gonsalves asking him “Why did you send Fr. Freddy to Kuwait?  To stage Tiatro? Is it a job of a priest to stage Tiatros by ignoring his pastoral duties?  Is he a priest to stage Tiatro or to perform his pastoral duties?  And what pastoral significance his visit to Kuwait is having?”

Bishop Gonsalves nor Fr. Freddy had any  appropriate answer and they both kept silence admitting their mistake.  Today Catholic community is in much trouble needing pastoral help from the priests many of whom have no time to devote their time and energy for this job because they have to devote their precious time for something else for which they did not become priests. Pastoral job is a full time job of a priest without any interference of any other job.
During his first visit to India, the late Pope Paul John advised the clergy to refrain from taking active part in activities other than Pastoral which are yours and nothing else.

Hence, Bishop of Goa will be doing a great service to the Catholic community by splitting the job of Pe. Vigar from the job of the school principal.  Entrusting both the jobs into one priest will damage the efficiency of both the jobs.

ON DISCRIMINATORY PE. VIGAR OF CANDOLIM.

John Mendes russmendes@gmail.com

Apr 16 (3 days ago)

Dear Concerned,

Kindly publish my below comment is context to the blog posted by A. Veronica Fernandes on the 13th of April subjected as "Pe. Vigar Buckled Down".

Very well accumulated facts. Never the less, it is the dear people of Candolim that need to recognize the fact and act accordingly. Such priests, who favor a certain section of society by providing them special status for parking etc are anti social and can spell danger to the community at large. Insulting remarks made by the priests at the holy alter should be condemned by all specially by the active members of the church.

Tolerating sin is much sinful than the actual committed sin. Christ has taught us to be humble in what ever we do and our priests should help us to follow Christ teachings instead of dividing the community on the basis of power in society.

"BEIMAN" GOA CHURCH & "BEIMAN" GOA PRIESTS.

God created the world and enriched it with enormous amount of natural resources for the benefit of human beings.  In the Gulf region God gave plenty of Oil that brought lot of wealth for the Gulf countries, Kuwait being one  of the Gulf countries it is enriched with vast quantity of oil and by selling it Kuwait generates lot of funds which it invests in its development projects.  For this development Kuwait hires manpower from all around the globe, India being one of the global countries supplying manpower to Kuwait.  Since Goa is a part of India from 1961 yet from 1950 Kuwait started hiring manpower from Goa by paying them lucrative remuneration. Thru this remuneration Goans working in Kuwait developed their economies in Goa thereby providing good education to their children, constructing good houses and bungalows and other such rich amenities.

After the last Arab-Israeli war in early seventies, the Oil producing countries including Kuwait increased the oil prices very high thereby fattening their wealth which they invested in increased amount of investment.  The immediate beneficiaries of this bonanza were the manpower whose remuneration was increased to very high level compared to the previous level.  When money started flowing more into the hands of Kuwait Goans they started doing social work and charitable work as well.  It was during this period I entered in Kuwait and embarked more forcefully in helping financially the important movements in Goa thru donations collected from likeminded Goans. One of the movements we Kuwait Goans undertook was giving  the donations in lakhs of rupees to Goa Church and to Goa priests to construct and to repair Churches, to construct Church Schools, Chappels and other such ventures undertaken by the Church authorities and priests.

Goa Church and its priests and nuns were the recipients of our financial doles from Kuwait in huge amount.  I was instrumental in helping such Church ventures in Goa very much being on forefront to collect donations for the work undertaken by the priests in Goa.  We brought so many priests to Kuwait, so many of them stayed at my residence and returned back with huge amount of donation collected from my friends, colleagues and well wishers.  Candolim Church was one of the beneficiaries of our donations to erect the upper floor of the Church school.  To collect funds as donation for this project the priest principal of this School came to Kuwait and thru my personal efforts he got a visit visa to come to Kuwait from where by contacting Candoicars in Kuwait he collected a huge amount which helped him to complete the upper floor of the school.  Besides me, the late Messias Barreto and Joaquim Dias also rendered enormous assistance to the visiting school principal in his fund collecting mission in Kuwait.  Additionally Mr. Sebastian Dias the brother of Joaquim Dias also gave lot of financial help for school and to the Church.

Similarly many Goans in Kuwait helped priests and nuns to collect funds for the projects they undertook in Goa on behalf of the Church. But did these Goa priests, nuns and Goa Church show any gratitude to us during the invasion of Kuwait and later on?  When we Kuwait Goan evacuees organized our movement  by holding public meetings and rallies in Panjim  Goa to raise our voice against this invasion,  to our regret not a single priest nor a single nun nor a single representative of the Church  associated with us to lend their support to our movement.  What ingratitude oh priests  when you preach from the Altar and Pulpit the virtue of gratitude!!  Gratitude for whom?  Not to those who helped you?  You are traitors and disgrace on Christianity.  Where was the priest from Candolim who came to Kuwait begging for the donation to complete the upper floor of the school?  Where was Fr. Freddy J. D’Costa who was one of the biggest beneficiaries of our doles?  On top of it he applauded the invasion of Kuwait.  We gave donation and Church built the School but we did not get any financial benefit of this school.  Because of this school the money coffers of the Church is filled and not of ours. At our cost the Church became rich thereby enriching the priest Principal whose purchasing power of  expensive things increased from the money generated from the school.

Recently on 26th February this year we Kuwait Goans in Panjim at Menezes Braganza Hall organized a public meeting to mark the 23rd anniversary of the liberation of Kuwait and as a chief guest one top Kuwaiti especially came to Goa. On Goa TV, media and on internet it was announced the schedule of this meet but again to our regret none of the priests attended this meet thus again showing ingratitude to Kuwait.  There was no  principal of Candolim School in attendance nor Pe. Vigar when this school and Church received so much of donation from Kuwait.  This shows how our priests, Church Pe. Vigars and school principals are ungrateful and such ungrateful are not fit to be the priests. Ingratitude and Christianity cannot go together.  If the Principal of the Candolim Church school had any gratitude for Kuwait he would surely be present for the meeting but he is ungrateful like many such priests. They want Kuwait and Kuwaitkars only for money. They are like Judases in Christ’s Robes. Even the Kuwaiti chief guest was surprised to see no priest in the hall attending the meet when we helped them so much.

As a matter of interest, after the liberation of Kuwait almost every country and every diocese sent its Catholic  emissary to Kuwait to find out how their respective people working in Kuwait are doing and how they are coping up with the situation in liberated Kuwait putting stress on their spiritual aspects.  South Korea sent its Bishop even though there were hardly one hundred South Koreans in Kuwait. Unfortunately Goa Church sent none even though there were thousands of Goans in Kuwait needing moral and spiritual solace.  But to our surprise, following the liberation of Kuwait there was a flood of Goa priests who came to Kuwait to collect funds for their Churches and schools and also to meet their concubines.  This is the quality of “Beiman” Goan Priests and “Beiman” Goa Church.

PE. VIGAR BUCKLED DOWN.

With deep regret I have to bring to the notice of the faithful  concerned and also to the Bishop of Goa, the Vatican representative in India and All India Catholic Association that the Pe. Vigar below my nose is showing some signs of losing his sanity. By making use of the holy Altar he uses unholy statements thereby desecrating the sacredness not only of the Altar but also of the Christ’s Church.  He cannot accept constructive criticism of his dictatorial and Satanic acts he commits against the teachings of Christ.  He is suffering from arrogance and pride complex thinking that he is an extraordinary intelligent but in reality he is nothing minus his priesthood.

He accuses from the Altar the writers who write to him anonymous letters and also those who write openly in the Internet.  It is madness on his part to raise the issue of anonymous letters because such letters are written by anonymous cowards only and such cowards deserve no mention. The writings appearing in internet are identified by the identity of the writers and as such the writers if they are wrong they deserves rebuttal in the same Internet forum and not from the Altar otherwise Pe. Vigar should take corrective steps as per the contents of the writings.

Pe. Vigar by raising this issue from the Altar is trying to gain cheap sympathy of some faithful for the apartheid he is practicing in the Church area.  This type of apartheid and discrimination is against Christian doctrine of equality. Only anti-Christians and Jews can do such un-Christian acts and every Catholic must raise his voice against this type of apartheid. In his madness against the writings by the faithful he asked from God punishment for them.  This is priestly barbarity which goes against Christ’s teachings. Asking devine punishment for writers is a crime and such crimes only the criminals can commit and not by the priests wearing Christ’s Robe. Retaliatory measures are not the Christian prescriptions for the priests to prescribe. This is not the Christian doctrine but the doctrine of Hamurabi the ancient king of ancient Mesopotamia who was the initiator of the Code “ Eye for an Eye and Tooth for Tooth”.

The right course of action for Pe. Vigar if the writers are wrong is to pray for them and in a Papal way forgive them but  surely not ask devine punishment. This shows the revengeful and cruel nature which does not suit for the priest.  Besides, Pe. Vigar must know that there is one saying in Konkani which says “KANVLLEACHEA  XIRAPANI  KONN  MORONA”, everybody  will die as he or she is destined to die.

By shedding the Crocodile tears from the Altar Pe. Vigar said that such writings criticizing their religious “Gurus” are not done in other religions such as Islam, Hinduism and  Buddhism.  This is not correct and Pe. Vigar is ignorant on this.  Bohra is one denomination of Islam and since its leader His Holiness Sayedna found acting in a Hitlerian way there was a heavy Press campaign against Sayedna’s dictatorial ways that put Sayedna and Bohra into a big shame not only in India but also all around the globe thru international Press.  One Bohri, Eng. Asghar Ali was the main writer to carry this campaign which he did for the betterment of Bhora community.

In my village in Candolim, Hindu Mahar as per the Hindu religious customs had to be buried outside their Cemetry.  One prominent young Hindu when attending the funeral of one well known Hindu Mahr noticing this discrimination in Hinduism,  immediately rushed to Panjim and issued a strongly worded statement in the Portuguese daily “Diario de Noite” first to condemn this discrimination and secondly to advise the top Hindu leaders to give equal rights in burial for the low caste Hindus also.  Besides these I have so many more examples where the religious Gurus were heavily criticized by their followers.  This type of criticism is not confined to Catholics only as the ignorant Pe. Vigar claims.

No faithful should remain immune to the dictatorship of the Pe. Vigar, he is not a devine creature and not an infallible person, like any human being he too is bound to commit mistakes which must be pointed out to him thru different methods, one being thru media. Those Pe. Vigars who cannot accept criticism are not fit to be good Pe. Vigars.  And those Pe. Vigars who try to suppress the freedom of expression of the faithful are dictators like Salazar and such Salazars we don’t want in our Churches.  Bishop should transfer them before they do more damage to their vocation and to the Church and also to the faithful.

And the Bishop must investigate why the local faithful are going to the Churches located in their neighbouring villages instead of their own Church.  If this trend is not arrested now then they may join some other Non-Catholic Churches. Because of the arrogant Pe. Vigars many of our Catholics left Catholicism and joined Believers denomination. Today in Goa non-Catholic Sects are mushrooming because of the pride and arrogance of many of our Pe. Vigars who forget that they are servants and not masters. And these are the same Pe. Vigars who are guilty in embracing corrupt politicians thereby encouraging corruption in our localities. Such Pe. Vigars are capable only to bark from the Altar for those who write anonymous letters and on Internet but they have no marbles to raise their voice from the Altar against those corrupt politicians who are looting and harassing  the innocent locals.

LAST MINUTE APPEAL TO SAXTTIKAR VOTERS.

When Goa needed support for its survival our brothers and sisters from Salcette came to the rescue of Goa and save it from the disaster.

When Goa needed freedom from foreign rule of Portugal, our genuine Freedom Fighters from Salcette came forward to fight as Freedom Fighters to obtain real freedom for Goa while many of their counterparts from the other side of Goa came forward as Freedom Fighters to make Goa as Hindu Raj.  Our Sxttikar Freedom Fighters were more secular in their thinking.

During the Opinion Poll it was our Saxttikar who stood by Goa solidly and snatched Goa from the jaws of Maharastra thereby putting an end to the constant threat of merger. This was the greatest battle Saxttikar fought to save Goa from getting liquidated.

When the soul of Goa that is Konkani had to be recognised to get Statehood for Goa, our Saxttikar again gave a strong support to this cause and produced the first Konkani Martyr in Floriano Vaz while the remaining Konkani Martyrs were produced by Ilhas.

Now on 12th of this month there is going to be an election for the two Parliamentary Seats, one of them from South Goa where our Saxttikar will play a major role and they alone can tilt the situation in support of secular Goa.

Now, it is my sincere request to all the Saxttikar voters to show their normal and genuine maturity with wisdomatic assessment of the real situation and elect the right candidate of secular thinking and from genuine secular party. In the past Saxttikar never allowed themselves to be cheated by the communal parties and communal candidates. I hope now also they will not get cheated by the communal elements.

OPEN LETTER TO GULF GOAN RETURNEES.

Dear Friends and Colleagues.

While working so hard in the Gulf for number of years, many of us have played a magnificent role in the service of Goa in diverse fields to safeguard the interest of Goa and Goans. Though we were away from Goa yet we never disowned our birth place and our duty, we always supported Goan causes financially and otherwise as none among expatriate Goans did.

For Konkani cause we played a stellar role to support it financially and the contribution of Kuwait Goans in this field was second to none. If the Konkani movement attained success leading to the granting of Statehood for Goa, it was partly because of the movement started in Kuwait by Kuwait Goans in this direction in 1976.

The first major activity in this process was "Novem Goem" movement which was overwhelmingly supported financially by Kuwait Goans. In Novem Goem initiative the final push for Konkani movement was started.

In Konkani Porjecho Avaz movement Kuwait Goans donated so much monetarily which was very imperative then just as it was for Novem Goem. Besides, Kuwait Goans have helped so many other Konkani organisations, religious "gurus" to construct religious places, schools, hospitals, community halls etc. Our Goan friends in other parts of the Gulf also played their roles in supporting these activities.

Why we did so much for the cause of Goa? Because we loved, as we still do, our Goa and its wellbeing. When we did so much for Goa especially during the critical time when our financial support was very imperative, can we now in the forthcoming Parliamentary election sit idle and relax to allow Goa going into the wrong hands? We helped Goa without asking anything in return for our personal gains. Our help for Goan causes was based on ideological grounds.

As per available information, ex Goan Seamen after their retirement came under one banner and they are become a force to reckon with even declaring their unified support to a particular Party of their choice in the coming election. While they already took their decision what to do and whom to vote, we inspite of doing so much for Goa are still acting like indecisive Hamlet?

Since we took more interest in Goa, it is time for us now to think more over this topic and give our precious votes only to the Secular Candidates of true Secular Party and not to Communal Party that threatens the life of minorities. Minorities in India are living in fear, so also in Goa. This fear has to be removed by voting out Communal elements in the coming election. India belongs not to any particular party to play its Communal "Dadagiri" and if this Dadagiri is still existing then we have to snatch it by voting wisely only to a genuine Secular candidates of genuine Secular Party.

From my past long association with my ex colleagues in Kuwait and in other parts of the Gulf and tirelessly working to protect Goa and Goan causes, I have full confidence that they and their family members will do justice to their precious votes. As in the past we now have our obligation to protect the interest of Goa first by being upright without getting carried away by false propaganda of Communal elements.

VOTE ONLY FOR SECULAR PARTY CANDIDATES.

The Parliamentary election will be held very soon and campaigning has been going on with full fury by all the candidates to woo the voters in their side. Tiatrists, Priests and Writers will be in a big demand now to canvass support from their respective Platforms for these politicians. Both the BJP and Congress parties are claiming to be secular and in the name of secularism they are trying to woo the voters towards their side. Both these parties made secularism as their main issue. BJP is using its Christian MLA's to market its Secularism especially in the South while all those voters who elected these Christian MLA's are watching silently instead of forcefully raising their voices against their Christian MLA's who were not elected on BJP symbol, for blindly supporting BJP.

MLA's like Avertano, Caitu and others were not elected by their respective voters on BJP platform and as such they have no right to support BJP at the Centre. Their voters must reprimand their MLA's for supporting BJP in the coming election and acting like Pimps of BJP by issuing statements as if they are the spokesmen of Chrisitians in Goa.

When they market secularism to get them votes I feel both the Congress and the BJP are lying to the people of Goa because the very name BJP makes me accept the fact that BJP is the most communal party in India having in its fold strong communal elements because of whom BJP by using communalism demolished Babri Masjid thereby hinting genuine Muslims never to trust BJP anymore. Besides, Gujarat massacre under the very nose of Narendra Modi create a very bad image of BJP’s secularism and surprisingly Modi is still adamant to be apologetic for this carnage of Muslims.
Secondly, by cancelling Good Friday holiday of Christians in Goa, BJP under Parrikar indicated the degree of hatred he is having in his store for Goan Christians even though all the Chrisitian MLA’s showing their allegiance to Parrikar may sing Hosanas in praise of Parrikar and BJP. They will sing these Hosanas as long as they get Lollipops for them from Parrikar. But they must know one thing that by supporting Parrikar they are strengthening Parrikar’s hands to turn him into a dictator who on one fine morning will surely show his true communal colours in the worst manner. There is a saying in Konkani "Mazor Imsan Soddchena" in the same manner BJP and Parrikar will never give up communalism because BJP is synonym with communalism. As per the available information, Parrikar was on forefront to demolish Babri Masjid along with other communal persons. Hence, this Parrikar will never change his stand on communalism.

Congress Party on the other hand is also a communal party and since it is so, under the hidden chicanery of Nehru it refused to give the Prime Ministership of united India to Jinnah with spontaneous decision because Jinnah was a Muslim. Incidentally, Jinnah was a grandson of a Hindu. Mahatma Gandhi was the only Hindu in the rank of Congress to be saddened over this communal factor of Congress while others silently enjoyed.

Attack on Golden Temple in Punjab to liquidate Bindranwale and his gang and thereby desecrate the sacredness of this Temple was a pure exercise in spreading communal hatred against Sikh community by Indira Gandhi’s Congress and worst still was the massacre of Sikhs in the aftermath of assassination of Indira Gandhi by Rajiv Gandhi’s Congress. This was the worst form of communal hatred created by Congress Party with the official backing.

The other two parties remaining in the fray in Goa besides independents are AAP and Su’uraj Party whose record of Secularism is good.

For the survival of India as one unit the factor of secularism is imperative. In view of this, all those Indians aspiring to strengthen the unity of India they should vote only for the genuine secular parties but never communal parties. Only the Secular party will give you the life security which is imperative for the minorities for their survival as full fledged Indians and human beings as well otherwise with the fear of Narendra Modi's communalism of the type of 2002 Gujarat massacre of Muslims, the minorities will develop as cowards in free India fearful of Narenda Modi's communal goons.

As it is there is already a move in India to convert minorities as slaves if not de jure but at least de facto and in Goa for Christians. Bandodcar's MGP tried to implement this policy openly but ultimately failed due to his sudden death. Now Parrikar's BJP is trying the same method to succeed where MGP has failed. For this reason Christians in Goa must be very alert of the danger Parrikar has posed for them.

Finally, by voting for communal parties we will not gain anything but by not voting them we will surely gain a lot that is a shaken Parrikar will be careful to confront the minorities. Parrikar like Bandodcar is anti- Christian and now is the correct time to put a brake on his move. There is nothing much at stake in this election because our two MP's will be like a drop in the Ocean where they will have no voice at all. And moreover, none among the contestants is showing any capability to tackle national issues, they all are good for local issues which are tackled at Goa level and not at Central level.

CHURCH IS RIGHT IN GUIDING PEOPLE IN POLITICS.

The recent tirade started by certain anti-secular elements in Goa against the Church for instructing the faithful not to support the communal parties in the coming election is condemnable and in fact I condemn it. Church is duty bound to advise and guide the faithful in a right direction as it did in the past not only in Goa but also in other parts of the world. When the then President of Philippines,  Ferdinand Marcos brought corruption in his country leading to immorality, under the leadership of Cardinal Sin of Philippines and with the approval of the then Pope, the entire Philippines revolted against the corrupt rule of Marcos and brought in a change of government there.

The late Pope John Paul himself was instrumental in supporting the Solidarity movement of Lech Walesa in his homeland Poland and thru it the change in the government there.  Besides, there are so many instances where one can see the Church involvement in fighting against corrupt rule.

In the last general election for Goa Legislative Assembly, the Goa Church has vehemently opposed the corrupt rule existing then under the Congress government and asked the people especially the faithful not to vote for the corrupt candidates and corrupt parties. This resulted in the downfall of the ruling Congress Party and coming up of BJP even though BJP is a communal party. The Church stand then was very clear,  to fight against corruption just as it is now, to fight against communalism which is as bad as corruption, or it may be even worse.

Hence, it is imperative not only for the faithful as followers of the Church but even for others also to follow the right guidelines issued by the Church to reject the communal candidates who as per their party principles will destroy the harmonious fabric of our society.

Since the  2002 Gujarat carnage of Muslims under the very nose of Modi, minorities in India are living in fear of Modi and since Parricar cancelled Good Friday holiday of Christians in Goa, the Christian community in Goa is also living in fear. Only the secular elements elected by the secular people will eradicate this fear. In view of this Goa Church is right in advising the people to elect the secular candidates.
