This is in reference to
the news item in Herald dated 01.05.20 where Michael Lobo castigates directly the Police Inspector of Pernem Police Station,
PI Sandesh Chodankar for encouraging Rave Party recently under his jurisdiction
besides Mr. Lobo casting allegations
such as PI Chodonkar being corrupt, is
responsible for committing a custodial death. Earlier in 2010 one Goan Tarvotti Cypriano also faced a custodial death but nothing has happened to get justice.
Further Minister Lobo said “an
officer who has serious charges against him and was suspended should
not be given the charge of an important police station. He should be posted in the reserve
unit”. Lobo also disclosed how the
locals in that area are living in fear of this PI. I am sure the locals must be living in a hell there.
While admiring Mr. Lobo
for airing his strong views on this corrupt PI, why for such a long period this
issue was not brought up in the Goa Legislative Assembly? If it was raised then it would create a
different effect because it is risky and dangerous for the good people not only
in Pernem but even in Goa to have such
an Agente Monteiro still surviving in Goa even
after 65 years of his deportation to Portugal from Goa on the serious
charges of misdeeds, by Caculo. If CM Sawant is really a Goan like Caculo, he
will take serious disciplinary action against PI Chodonkar and also investigating
the criminal charges of committing a custodial death. Such crimes as given to understand, were
committed by Agente Monteiro during the Portuguese regime against innocent
Goans.
