Let Compassion Be The Virtue Of 2012 Life has always been an evolving process, every day brings us something new to see, something new to read, something new to do, something new to hold, something new to feel and among many other things, some one new to meet but even though a multitude of newer things go by us every single day of our lives, yet we fail to see, hear, feel, experience, meet and acknowledge them. Life is an ever changing phenomenon, no two days can ever be the same and every new day is a new experience that we should relish and look forward to. We are God’s or nature’s supreme creation as one would think and believe.
Years and centuries have passed and what has passed we call history, what’s now we called present and what’s yet to come we call future. Our history is well documented, so too the present, as every passing moment or second turns into history with only the future to look forward to. We can never change the past as it’s done and dusted with, as they say but we can do a lot for the present as we can mould it to the best of our abilities for a better future, even though some believe that damsel called destiny cannot be changed but there are others who believe that the damsel destiny is what they make it to be. Now, which of the two groups are we in ?
In a few days time we’ll be crossing into yet another year in history, it’s time for resolutions and dreams, by nature we humans are a very difficult specie to satisfy, the more we have the more we want, yet we ignore the reality around us. Today the world around us is going through a very rough phase, thanks to the greed of our decision making leaders and Authorities the common man has receded further down the rugs of poverty and the rich and the affluent have climbed higher on the inequitable gauge of opulence, as the void between the rich and poor gets wider by the year.
Along with inequity and the rise of poverty the world around us is mired in acts of terrorism, sometimes even in the name of fostering peace and justice. In the quest for freedom innocent lives are lost, as independence movements across the world prove human freedom is still in shackles and people are looking for liberation and along with liberation people are looking for acceptance and a better quality of life. Is that a sin ?
There are millions in the world today who are deprived of their basic rights and also those who live in abject poverty and in dire state. Hunger, malnutrition, lack of basic hygiene and health care has killed millions of children and adults a like. We all know the turmoil the world is in at present, so as 2011 draws to an end and the dawn of 2012 is ahead of us, let the past be past, lets first take the initiative for the present to build a future, for the wellbeing of humanity, without waiting for damsel destiny to intervene.
Let us pray for blessings to face and contain these difficult times and for wisdom and a generous heart for our political and social leaders to work selflessly for the upliftment of the underprivileged and the eradication of poverty and illiteracy, at the same time to channel out humanity to all the less fortunate around the world so that our world will be a better place to live in. Let us for once stop complaining that we have no shoes but try to support those unfortunate who have no feet to stand on, leave alone walk on.
I hope with each passing day we will make an attempt to experience and acknowledge all the new that comes our way and pledge to be compassionate and generous by reaching out to help those in need and contribute in our own little way, to reducing pain, sorrow and misery of the less fortunate in 2012.
Happy New Year 2012.
Freddy Fernandes.

IN RESPONSE TO VERONICA'S ARTICLE ON JESUS APPARITION ON MANNDDAILO KHURIS.
The article on Apparition of Jesus on Manddailo Khuris in Candolim is an excellent one written by the versatile and intellectual journalist A. veronica Fernnades. It was really a masterpiece of Veronica’s matured brain. It contains historical facts rarely disclosed earlier. It gives lot of information of our elders and their wisdom to live a community life for the benefit of community and groups of people.
I was amazed to read from this article about the ancestral house of great Goan Abade Faria. Also I was surprised to know about the Fabrikachi Kas for the burial of the poor. It is really a pity to know how our ancestors due to abject poverty could not afford even a Coffin for their dignified burial.
Veronica once again proved how deep knowledge he is possessing even on Scriptures when he quoted it while ending his article. He can write on any subject with authority as no other writer among us in this part of the world.
Recently I saw a VCD of the condolence meeting KKK organized in Kuwait for the soul of the late Rosary Ferns, in this VCD I saw one more intellectual power in him of excellent oratory with full of quotations and examples of great people in this world. I find him full of knowledge in most of the subjects.
Meanwhile I hope the Church leaders of Goa and Candolim will throw some light on this apparition to strengthen the faith of Catholics in the Catholicsm.
Well written Veronica, well done Kranti.
I request Kranti to maintain the high standard it is maintaining now. Kranti is meant for top readership and Veronica’s writing is meant for hard readership and not for faint hearted.
Thanks.

APPARITION OF JESUS ON CROSS AT CANDOLIM MANDDAILO KHURIS.

SEEN IN THE PICTURE ABOVE IS: MANDDAILO KHURIS.
An apparition of Jesus Christ on a Cross at Candolim drew in throngs of devotees at the site on Tuesday, 20th of this month, highlighted the news in the Goan daily Herald on the next day. Immediately this news spread all around like wild fire and people started flooding this area, some out of curiosity to know what is what while many came with religious fervour and to ask favours as per the tradition of this place and Cross. Many people felt seeing the image of Jesus Christ on top of the wooden Cross placed in vertical direction on top of the piece of coconut tree known in Konkani as ‘Korvo’. The height of the Korvo is around 2 meters while that of the wooden Cross is quarter of a metre.
This place is called MANDDAILO KHURIS and NOT Maddacho Khuris as wrongly indicated in Herald. The word Manddailo came from the Konkani word “MANDD” which means group of people gathering there for prayer every week, they pray to the Cross as indicated above and for this reason this place is called MANDDAILO Khuris (Cross). This area falls in Pintos Vaddo Candolim opposite to and 200 metres away from the ancestral home and birth place of world renowned Hypnotist Abade Faria where he was born. About 10 metres away from this Manddailo Khuris, there is once famous Asilo which was the only such Old Age House in and around Candolim and neighbouring areas during the Portuguese rule in Goa. Attached to this Asilo is the Chapel dedicated to ‘Condoi Saibinn’ whose feast is celebrated with great devotion on 2nd February every year.
Simultaneously on this day to mark the festive occasion members of the Manddailo Khuris, organize with great pomp and traditional rituals Konkani Tiatro. Before the start of the Tiatro the locals with their traditional musical instruments such as Gumot, Madyem and Kansaem play traditional music for about 30 minutes. Playing of this traditional music on that day starts from Araddy Vaddo about 1000 metres away from the Mandd at night time around 10 pm, then these traditional musicians from Araddy march thru the fields to the Mandd area and directly enter the Tiatro Stage to play with great pleasure. After finishing playing for about 30 minutes on the Stage watched by the huge audience with rapt attention, they pray for good of all, Heavenly peace for the dead members, for peace on earth and then they hand over the stage for Tiatro.
As per the tradition people coming to watch the tiatro cannot go home in between unless they invite some disaster for them as per the belief. The tiatro is organized in an open place without any Mattou or Fence and Stage is set in front of the Manddailo Khuris.
This Manddailo Khuris was established about a century back. During those days the elders from that Vaddo with full of wisdom and devotion on every Sunday at about 11.00 AM started gathering in front of the Cross to pray and ask favours from Manddailo Khuris and immediately thru the intercession of this Cross many favours were granted by God. While gathering there they were distributing country liquors in Coconut Shell for those gathered there.
Then they started a system of creating funds for the registered members of the Mandd, these members are only from Pintos and Araddy and for this purpose every member was charged 4 Annas a year, later on it was increased. As a special previllege every member was paid after his death a “Prem” a sort of reward equivalent to the cost price of the Coffin for his funeral. During those days many people in Goa because of poverty could not afford a Coffin for their burial and precisely because of this they were given ‘Baddeachi Kas’ or as it was known as Fabrikachi Kas which means hired Coffin from the Church. This coffin was the Church property which Church rented for a very negligiable rent for the poor dead to carry his body from his home to the Cemetry. In order to give decent burial and avoid humiliating burial in Fabrikachi Kas, the Mandd elders created this system a century back and still carried forward by the present management of this Mandd though the value of the “Prem” has been enhanced tremendously. Added to this previllege, one more previllege was created for the members to get loan from the Mandd fund by mortgaging gold ornaments. Thru this loan many members managed to fulfill their financial needs.
My father till his death played a very leading role of running the affairs of this Mandd as a De Facto leader and his leadership was accepted by all the members of this Mandd. Now its leadership is entrusted with a small committee headed by its president.
Because of this apparition at Manddailo Khuris, the name and fame of Manddailo Khuris increased tremendously. As it is this Manddailo Khuris from the beginning is known to create unthinkable miracles and devotees of this Cross not only Christians but also from other religions declared these miracles openly and humbly. The miraculous power of this Manddailo Khuris is well known in many parts of Goa and for this reason people from different parts of Goa belonging to different communities throng there every Sunday in the mornings though one can also see flow of devotees everyday.
But now the point in question: Is this apparition a real or a piece of imagination on the part of the person who first saw this apparition? The local Church leaders had no proper answer nor anybody in the Church circle. In view of this, can we accept this apparition as reality? CHURCH LEADERS CANNOT KEEP SILENCE OVER SUCH EPISODES because it touches every heart of every Christian. In the absence of proper explanation by the local Church leaders faithfuls should not be allowed to swallow aything wrongly.
While concluding let me quote scriptures as follows:
Right after Jesus’ death, several men arose who claimed to be the Messiah. Josephus, the Jewish historian, said many were led astray by them. Scripture also mentions two who apparently claimed to be the Messiah or at least the deliverer of the Jews: Theudas and Judas of Galilee (Acts 5:36-37). Simon Magus claimed to "the great power of God" (Acts 8:9-10). Every generation has its false messiahs, each one claiming to be the special messenger of God, the deliverer of the human race. Every false religion and sect of every generation has its false messiahs, but there shall be many as the last days approach.
Jesus said that these were just the "beginning of sorrows" (Matthew 24:8 all these are the beginning of sorrows. So a clearer rendering of what Jesus meant in verses 4-5 would be: "Take heed that no one deceives you. For many shall come claiming to represent Me, saying that I Jesus am the Christ, yet shall deceive many." That is, they would proclaim Jesus as the biblical Messiah and would claim to be His representatives—but they actually would be part of a massive religious deception.
If we see the exact in a biblical way when someone see’s Jesus, we can also see their life as a testimony for Christ.1) Paul who saw Jesus we can read it in Acts 9:3-16. And when we see his previous life in Acts Chapter 8.we can see two different life of one person before he saw the vision of Jesus Christ and after he saw Christ.Jesus appeared to Paul for a reason which was clearly told to paul by Jesus Himself cause he is not a dumb God,and so also if Jesus appears even in this century He will do the same for He is the same God yesterday, Today and Forever (Hebrews 13:8).

HELP REQUIRED TO SAVE THE LIFE OF TIATRIST ANTONETTE DE CALANGUTE.
I know many members on this forum are anxious to know about the latest health status of Bai Antonette de Calangute. Together with my wife I visited her at her residence in Colva a few days back. Though she spoke to us like any other healthy person, but, hidden deep behind that bold smile I could read the pain and agony she was undergoing. This was not the same Antonette whom I knew for the last many years. She was resting in bed at the time of our visit and spoke to us narrating to us the sudden her twist in her health status. It is unbelievable that a sudden ailment has confined this dynamic artist of the stage to bed and has to be constantly assisted for every need. The artist who played stellar tragic roles on stage and brought tears to many an eye is today herself faced with a real life tragedy of a different kind. All that I could do at that moment was whisper a silent pray for her total and speedy recovery.
It is now confirmed that our dear friend and the versatile Tiatrist Antonette de Calangute has been afflicted by advance kidney failure. It has been advised by the Nephrologist treating her that in order to lead a normal life she has to undergo kidney transplant. The medical team has also assured that she is a ‘very good candidate’ for the transplant. All out efforts are being done to find a suitable donor. The sudden twist is the health status like a bolt from the sky and the impending surgery and transplant has put the tiatrist couple of Bonny and Antonette Pereira (de Calangute) into a stressful situation since the overall cost of the transplant post operative care and treatment would be somewhere in the region of around Rs. 10,00, 000/- (Indian Rupees ten lakhs). It is not a small amount by any count and for a middle class family to raise this huge amount overnight could be a challenging task.
But, hope is not lost. Her friends in the tiatrist fraternity for whom she has served for more than 2 decades are seized of the matter and have grouped themselves together to support her financially in whatever manner they can, especially by staging specially charity shows in Goa. They have also come forth with an ‘Appeal’ to all tiatr lovers and well wishers of the couple Antonette de Calangute and Bonny Pereira to come to their aid with your financial contribution, however small it may be.
For this purpose a special savings account has been opened in the ICICI Bank, Colva Branch, Goa, operated jointly in the names of Antonette Pereira & Bonifacio Pereira. The Account No. is: 114201500243.Christmas is that time of the year when we reach out to friends and people in a very special way. Christmas gives us an opportunity to do our bit in order to bring a smile on the faces of the sick and suffering. We are all blessed with the Heavenly Grace to understand the pain and suffering of our brethren.
I appeal to all the members on this group to keep Antonette in your prayers as you pay your visit to the Prince of Peace our Lord Jesus this Christmas Day. May he bless you all with grace to reach out to her in whatever manner you can.Antonette de Calangute can also be reached at her residence address ; Queeny Crown, No.F/4, 1st Floor, Near Sho Faz Super Market, Villa Nova, Colva Goa.

AFTERMATH OF INVASION OF GOA.
The Church of Candolim is dedicated to Nossa Senhora de Esperanca (Our Lady of Hope). The feast of our Lady of Hope is always celebrated on the last Sunday of December preceded by 9 days Novenas (Salve) in the Church in the evenings finishing at around 8.00 pm. When Indian Military invaded Goa on 19th December the Novenas were in progress but since 19th December Goa was officially conquered from the Portuguese by the Indian Military, many of the Indian military personnel indulged in raping Goan females like wild animals, in fact they looked like wild animals only when I first saw them on 18th December. At Pilerne Bardez a School teacher while walking was snatched by the Jeep load of Indian Military personnel and in their Jeep itself she was raped mercilessly, not only raped but gang raped. This sad news shocked us all and also our Candolim Pe. Vigar Pe. Niclau Noronha who otherwise was anti-Portuguese. Elsewhere from Goa news started coming that Indian Military personnel went on rampage of raping Goan females which shocked the Goan conscience as a whole.
Since our Novenas were getting over at 8.00 pm and devotees were going home in the darkness while on the roads Indian military personnel were keeping their flow constantly on way to Aguada, our pro-India Pe. Vigar doubted the sincerity of Indian Military personnel to act upright and as a precautionary measure he stopped having Novenas in the evenings. This he did to prevent Indian Military personnel from Raping and molesting our Church goer females. That was the great fear Indian Military inculcated into our minds and hearts. We started treating Indian Military personnel not only on par with Portuguese Agente Monteiro but worst than Agente Monteiro. This was the very heavy price we had to pay for ousting Portuguese from Goa. Earlier we were opposing Agente Monteiro but now with the invasion and in the name of invasion we welcomed not one Agente Monteiro but innumerable Agente Monteiros in Goa who acted like wild animals with Goans.
Immediately after Christmas that year in order to fool the invaded Goans and to make them happy Indian Government flooded Goan Markets with cheap priced Onions, Potatoes and Joggery (Defichem Ghodd). Other vegetables also became cheap coming from Belgaum. Then Passing Show readymade Cigarettes replaced imported Capstan “Puddo & Mortal” and became very cheap because of which any person including “Kalche Poroche Potte” took up for smoking. But this tamasha of Indian government of fooling Goans lasted only for few months and then came the calamity of scarcity and high cost commodities as we never seen even during the second world war, as per our eleders.
Then in January some Goan “chamchas” of India started organising public meetings, in our village at Tinto to eulogise forced entry of Indian rule in Goa and the benefits Goans will get. Some outsider non-Goan leaders also addressed these Meets which expressed nothing but lies and monumental lies in praise of Bharat Serkar, Nehru and Bharati administration. These speakers promised Heaven for Goa and Goans but within a short time we realized that we fell from Heaven into the burning Hell under Bharat and from this Hell we are still burning and will burn forever because the entire Bharat is a Big Burning Hell where all the rulers and leaders are great Lucifers.
In the first week of January 1962 at Mapusa Bus Stand to show its might to defeat any enemy, Indian Military personnel displayed its deadly armament and also did some demonstrations by firing in the sky live ammunition to show the ignorant Goans how Indian Military can inflict heavy defeat on any enemy. In fact as an ignorant young boy knowing not the actuality of arms and ammunitions I was amazed to see this type of live firing which was new to us. This demonstration and display gave us an impression that since India invaded Goa from the Portuguese that means India next can invade China as well. But to our surprise within a few months with its war with China India not only suffered a humiliating defeat but allowed mighty China to invade vast land of Indian territories which is still lying into the hands of China and China is laughing at India. The power of Indian Military demonstrated at Mapusa Bus Stand turned into Zero in front of the Chinese Military. Good that Portuguese Military was not ready for war in December 1961 with India otherwise they would also make Zero of India on 18th & 19th December 1961.

IMPORTANT CHRISTMAS MESSAGE.
Russian Govt. did not protest when right wing hindu terror groups in 2008 were burning bibles - vandalizing churches - breaking the idols of jesus christ & mother mary - and targeting christians in India especially in Orissa - Karnataka - Madhya Pradesh..........BUT look at how the Indian govt. has gone full throttle in protesting over an issue of the Russian transalation of Gita being banned in Russia even before a local junior court could deliver the judgement whether the Gita should be banned in Russia or not.
The right wing Hindu terror groups have a long term strategy against Christians in India.......what happened in 2008 will be repeated again in the future, so watch out. Unlike ISKCON members who sell the BhagwadGita near Indian Railway stations......you will not come across Christian Missionaries selling Bible near Indian Railway Stations.
The Christian Missionaries are only intersted in going in Dalit, Tribal & Slum areas and indulge in allurement & fraudulent conversion activities because of millions of dollars of foreign donations they receive. Is it written anywhere in the Bible that only Dalits, Tribals & Slumdwellers in India should be converted to Christianity? Of course Not. So why are the Christian missionares trying to convert only dalits, tribals & slumdwellers need to be debated in Indian Parliament, Legislative Assemblies & Television Studios.
Give Respect to only those Parish Priests who are using church funds for the benefit of catholic parishoners and utilizing vacant church properties for the benefit of catholic parishoners and ensuring 50% seats in parish schools are reserved for catholic parishoners and discouraging catholic parishoners from drinking alcohol and encouraging catholic youth to aggressively apply for government jobs - police jobs - bank jobs - etc etc etc.
Christ in Christian - Christ in Christmas - no shortcut please and refrain others from using the word Xmas.

KRANTI IS PRAISED FOR ITS HIGH STANDARD.
Dear Mr Veronica,
Your three articles on Invasion/Liberation of Goa were excellent. they contain factual history and you have written with scholarly knowledge of which type very few are having. I suggest you to compile these precious articles in the book form for posterity to know the true history of Goa's liberation.
I was really amazed the details you mentioned of your father and how he was stopped by Indian invading millitary personnel and the lies that were told to him. This is the rare piece of history only you can know better and write on it.
Earlier the beautiful profile of Belino Afonso was worth reading. You have discovered hidden Goan talent shining in USA. I doubt anyone besides you can do this.
The latest write-up on Goan Chef Jerry Call from Calangute was beautifully written. I feel proud as a Goan for Jerry Call making a mark of his profession in the Gulf. Kranti deserves highest accolades for bringing out such articles. Precisely because of this Kranti is read by more and more readers. Your contribution in kranti is fantastic. Keep up the good work and maintain the high standard of kranti.
Well done Veronica - Well done goa-KRANTI.
Thanks.
SAVIO FERNANDES.

GOAN CHEF "JERRY CALL" PRIDE OF GOA.
Among the expatriate Goans the contribution of Kuwait Goans towards the good of Goa stands on highest pedestal. Their patriotism towards their motherland Goa is second to none. The formation of Gulf Goans Hotels Co. Ltd. that owns the Hotel Goan Heritage located at Gauravaddo, Calangute touching the sea on a vast area of around 10,000 sq. metres is unique venture initiated by Kuwait Goans. It was about 35 years back this company was formed by around 75 Kuwait based Goan share holders. Though during the initial stages it faced lot of hurdles from different quarters yet it took almost a decade for this project to come into existence which is running now unhindered by any external pressure. Hotel Goan Heritage employs over 50 employees mostly Goans looking after about 100 Rooms.
Gulf Goans Hotels Co. Ltd. is run by the Board of Directors comprising 12 members, earlier with the exception of Board Chairman the entire Board was based in Kuwait since all of them were working in Kuwait. Now with the exception of 2 Board Members who are still in Kuwait and who are unfit to contribute anything worthwhile for the development of Hotel, the entire Board is based in Goa.
Origially the Head Office of the company was at Panjim opposite to Ferry Boat Jetty but later on it was shifted near Panjim Kadamba Bus Stand, opposite to Sesa Ghar where the Chairman and other staff are occupying their seats. Of late Share holders have shown their disgust over the functioning of the hotel under the supervision of the current Board some of whose members are ageing and unable to contribute anything while some others are useless towards their contribution. Because of the incapacity of some Board members to contribute in the development of the Hotel, the expected returns for the share holders is hampered.
The two directors based in Kuwait are totally useless for this hotel, by being in Kuwait they cannot do anything except shamelessly take cheap pleasure of having the status of directorship. According to one of their colleagues both these directors should either gracefully resign paving the way for Goa based more productive members to take over or be ready to face a Kick disgracefully because air is blowing now in the company in the different direction.
CHEF JERRY
While working in Hotel line for 40 years holding top positions he was decorated with Awards and Gold Medals and Certificates of which type very few Goans won. The most memorable awards in his highly professional career was the winners Gold Medal in Emirates Calliniary Build and also the winners medal in Gulf Food Exhibition in Dubai in 1995.

CHEF JERRYDuring the last Annual General Body Meeting there was TOTAL chaos since Share Holders demanded explanation for the low return for their shares. According to Share Holders, the management under the current board is lacking in conducting the Hotel business professionally. It is a pity that there is not a single member in the board having professional knowledge of the running of the hotel business. Hence with the strong demand by the share holders, a few days back a new director has been inducted who being the son of the soil Calangute is highly experienced professionally to run hotel business. He is none other than Tiburcio Jeronimo Fernandes popularly known as Jerry Call as seen in the picture above.
After finishing his Segundo Grau Portuguese schooling at Calangute Jerry joined St. Joseph’s High School at Arpora where he finished his SSC and joined the Taj at Bombay where he completed his 3 years apprenticeship course in Cateering. After finishing this course he worked there for 2 years as a Commi and in 1974 he was selected to by Abu Dhabi Hilton to work there; Abu Dhabi Hilton was the first Five Star Hotel in that area where he worked for 3 years as Commi 1. From here he resigned and joined Abu Dhabi Sheraton as Chef de Partie where he was promoted to Sous Chef in which capacity he worked there for 5 years. While engaged there he was sent for further advance training by the Sheraton management to Germany for a period of 6 months. From here then he was transferred to Abu Dhabi National Hotel Company as a Chef for a period of 6 years. Then he joined for better prospects Abu Dhabi Meridien another 5 Star Hotel where he worked for 2 years and from here he joined Zajira Resort and worked there for 3 years. After this he joined Abu Dhabi Forti Grand where he worked for 6 years. From here he was appointed as Executive Chef by Abu Dhabi Armed Forces Officers Club and worked there for 9 years.
After working for 40 years in the Hotel line and reaching to the position of a Chef supervising the staff from different nationalities including Europeans, Jerry returned home for good along with his wife who also worked in Abu Dhabi for a reputed Bank there.
However because of his exhaustive knowledge and vast experience in Hotel line, he was called back to Abu Dhabi for the opening of Al Manzeel Hotel there where he worked for 3 years.
Finally due to the ill health of his wife who unfortunately died a few months back at Calangute, Jerry Call returned to his soil for good last year.

As a human being Jerry Call is a very kind hearted Goan of whose nature we have very few now. He helped many Goans to come to Abu Dhabi for employment and gave jobs to innumerable Goans. He loved Goans - he loved Goa.
For many of the Goan causes he took the lead to raise funds namely for Konkani Language and for Konkani Martyrs Fund besides for others. Being himself a very good tiatrist and singer from his school days, he helped many Goan troupes to come to Abu Dhabi and himself organised many Tiatros of many of the reputed Goan directors. Two years back he released his first Konkani Album titled "Calangute" which was the instant success.
A father of 4 children - 3 girls and one boy - who are all well settled in UAE, Jerry is very popular in his locality.
Goa-KRANTI wishes Jerry all the best in his new assignment as one of the Directors of Gulf Goans Hotels Co. Ltd.

INDIAN INVADERS OF GOA ARE LIARS & CHEATS.
A week before the invasion of Goa by the mighty Bharati Millitary under the command of General Candeth, there was hectic activities around the globe to stop the cheat Nehru from invading Goa. Pushed by Portugal and backed by the USA almost the entire Western Europe supported Portugal. At one particular time unable to bear the world pressure minus Soviet Russia, Nehru wanted to delay the military action in Goa mainly to save the good image of India which professed the principle of Non-violence. But Malyali crook Defence Minister of India traitor Krishna Menon when told by Nehru to stop marching over Goa till further notice, replied to Nehru saying “Our troop is already on Goan soil when in fact it was not, it was still on Bharati soil. At that time Indian troop was at the border, Indian side. Nehru was at loss but Krishna Menon as a cunning Malyali immediately ordered the troop to start entering Goa and thus on 16th December Indian troops started entering Goa. THIS WAS THE FIRST LIE OF INDIA WHILE INVADING GOA. In fact Goa’s invasion started with Bharati lies only.
When China attacked India in 1962, world leaders questioned China but Chinese premier Cheu-en-Lai refuted them saying 'India does not believe in settling bilateral issues peacefully and precisely because of this India invaded Goa by using Non-Violence method. Hence, we followed this same method against India'.
At that time my brother working for Goa Police immediately came home from Collem where he was posted and alighted from the Caminhao of Keka Pai coming from Betim at 7.00 pm near Candolim Church and told our local Pe. Cur, Pe. Marcos Menezes that Indian Millitary has entered into Goa. Next day 17th everywhere was chaos, when we went to our Portuguese school as usual, we found our school door closed. On 18th Morning at dawn my father was going to our field 50 metres away from our house touching the main road to check the flow of water. He was wearing an ordinary Banyan and Short. On the main road coming from Betim was a convoy of Millitray Tanks and Jeeps on way to Aguada. In the front Tank the Millitary Commander saw my father in our field and stoped his Tank, behind him the entire convoy also stopped. Seeing this we looking from our home were totally confused knowing not why they stopped their convoy.
Then the Indian Commander called my father and started asking him so many questions in Hindi such as how far Aguada from your place, how many military personnel are there at Aguada, Is there any Troop stationed at Shapora-Anjuna etc. This Millitary Commander was an idiot asking such questions to a layman my father. Then that Indian Millitary Commander asked my father “why you are wearing an ordinary Banyan?’ For this my father replied saying “I am a poor man”. For this, the Millitary Commander replied “Yes, we know Portuguez has purposely kept you poor. Now and henceforth under Bharati rule you all poor Goans will not remain poor any longer but you all become rich. We are come to Goa to drive away cunning Portugues from Goan soil and make Goa a beautiful, peaceful and rich place for Goans”.THIS WAS ANOTHER LIE MADE BY THE CHEAT INVADER COMMANDER OF INDIAN MILLITARY.
My father while going to our Paddy Field early in the morning was singing Hosannas in praise Portugal and clean Portuguese administration and concluding his Hosannas with Viva Portugal – Viva Salazar. However, while returning home after talking to Indian Military Commander he was a totally changed man and came home all smiling saying loudly “Jai Hind – Bharat Zindabad – Nehru Zindabad and Salazar Murdabad”. These slogans were new to us all at home. Then he removed his Banyan and threw it out saying I dont need it any more because henceforth I will have the privilege of wearing Three Piece Suit of Raymond Cloth even when going to our field because he was deeply impressed by the lies of the Indian Millitary Commander believing his lies as Gospel Truth.
See how crook Indians were at the time of invading Goa. In fact the invasion of Goa started with telling lies and later on making Indian lies as way of life in Goa. India captured Goa thru lies and they will finish Goa from the possession of Goans thru lies only because Indians are first class liars since Indian system is based on lies only.
Unfortunately and regretfully within a month of invasion of Kuwait my father became totally disillusioned man seeing disgrace brought on Goans by the Indian invaders. The promised wealthy life for the poor Goans remained as a dream only and meantime my father regretted for throwing out his Banyan which was his valuable asset and not a three piece suit as he expected by believing the liar Indian Military Commander. These Indian Millitary Commanders and Soldiers and leaders sucked my beloved Goa.
In one of his songs immediately after the invasion of Goa by Bharat, tiatrist M. Boyer said referring to the lies of Indian leaders:
Goykar ami sust nidlolet, nidloleank amkam uttoilet
Ani Patank korun voir soddtoch modench tuttoilet ani fottoilet.
Another great tiatrist Kid Boxer in his song also immediately following the invasion of Goa, mocking at lies of Indian leaders said:
Atam bienakant Goykarani kiteak Goyam itlem borem zatolem ki Rendrancheam Zamnneani ani Dukranchea Guddani passun lighti eteleot.
While concluding, I once again say that we were cheated by India by forcibly annexing Goa.

FAKE LIBERATION OF GOA
After India got independence, some Goan freedom fighters went to Gandiji asking him to help them to oust Portuguese from Goa. For this Gandhiji replied thus "Now you are ruled by the Portuguese but once Portuguese is ousted from Goa, I am afraid you may be ruled by the Delhi Portuguese". How prophetic were these words from Gandhiji!!
When Portuguese rule ended from Goa on 19th December 1961 everything went against the interest of genuine Goans and true Goa. Before the ouster of Portuguese from Goa, lot of promises were given to Goans by the Bharati Government but all these promises were turned into zero. According to Pe. Chico Monteiro who once confided in me said that Nehru was the most untrusworthy person, he wanted to liquidate the identity of Goa by helping merging Goa with Maharastra. Nehru was very close to V.P. Naik the then Congress Chief Minister of Maharastra. But in the Opinion Poll things surprisingly for Nehru and men like him in Maharastra and Delhi turned out to be different.
What sort of liberation we genuine Goans are experiencing? The liberation of freely killing of innocent Goans tru the factors influenced by the influx of non-Goans? The liberation to rob innocent Goans of their valuables as never before during the 451 years of Portuguese rule in Goa? The liberation to use bribery in each and every segment of Goan life and thereby destroy the fabricks of immaculate Goan image? Liberation to impose non-Goan system in Goa and thereby keep colonialism alive in Goa? Liberation to liberate Goa from Portugal and subjugate Goa under Non-Goans? Liberation to degoanise Goa of its culture, language, tradition, history and everything best of Goa? Liberation to damage and hurt Christians of their religious sentiments? The word liberation should be removed from our tongues and as per the Supreme Court judgement it should be righty named as Conquest or still better to use the Invasion Day.
It is a hard fact that no body wants to live under colonial rule and that includes me. Portuguese colonialists have done lot of injustice to Goa and genuine Goans with the strong support of Bamonshahi and Bhatkarshahi but on the other hand Portuguese rule has done yeomen services for the good of Goans and Goa. If Goa was not grabbed by Bharat for another 5 to 10 years I am sure Goa would be much better and safer place to live in the world. It was Bharati rule that disgraced the greatness of Goa and Goans. In this Bharat that is ruled by the bloody rascal politicians everything is bad. Money power and goonda force rule India including Goa and this has happened only because Goa came under Bharati rule.
We Goans may be poor in many aspects but surely we are very rich in culture, tradition, history, character and discipline. You will never find anywhere in Bharat as great hearted and as kind hearted people as genuine Goans whose number is now unfortunately dwindling. The “chor” and loafers who came to Goa with the advent of Bharati rule were the most third class and disgraceful people who helped destruction of Goa. The Malyalis and Maharastrians who started pouring in Goa soon after Goa came under Bharati rule totally spoiled the greatness of Goa, these non-Goans were without any class in them. Unfortunately, if currently Goa is facing degradation of Goan character by the present generation including the politicians then it is only because they learnt everything worst from the Bharati “Bamtte”.
Will it be possible for the genuine Goans to get back those glorious days when genuine Goans used to sleep in the “bolcao” and “angonn” under the “Ambo & Tinch” Trees whole night keeping their doors and windows opened? Will it be possible for genuine Goans now to go to the beach and have medicinal bath in the month of April & May without any hindrance from the big hoteliers preventing locals from entering their own local beach? God alone know tomorrow the locals may have to pay for the tickets to go to their beaches. Will it be possible for genuine Goans to have the previllege to inhale the fresh air without having impurities spread by the toxic industries? Will it be possible for genuine Goans to get their work done from any Government department without paying bribe? Will it be possible for genuine Goans to have Hindu-Christau-Mussolman “Bhavponn” as enjoyed during the Portuguese regime?
The secularism that Bharat imposed on Goa is a fake one. During Portuguese time Goa enjoyed better and best secularism in its true sense. Now Goa is not very far from Gujarat because BJP means communalism. Will it be possible for Goa any more to have in their Panchayats and Legislative Assembly any undiluted and uncorrupt member? The greatness of Goa is gone for good and it will never resurface. The future of Goa will be framed by the non-Goans who are become “dadas” of Goa and these non-Goan dadas will never protect the interest of Goa and Goans. Some Panchayats of golden Goa are manned by non-Goan Sarpanches who are selling our villages to Non-Goans and top industrialits. This is just one example of how Goa is destroyed by the non-Goans in the name of liberation which is nothing but fake liberation or truly Invasion.
Very few of us who enjoyed the greatness of Goa will sing Hosannas in the name of pristine Goa and how long these hosannas will be sung by us? Very many of us are coming closer to the grave and in another few years Goa will lose all its charm and greatness and current Goan will be just like many other polluted and disgraceful Indian. The great Goan journalist Frank Moraes felt ashamed to be an Indian because of lop sided policies carried by the Bharat Serkar. I too am ashamed to be an Indian when Bharat Serkar against my consent forcibly converted me as Bharati on 19th December in 1961 because by being a Bharati I have to be a colleague of corrupt Bharatis who are disgracing Bharat by committing all sorts of nonsense.
I am ashamed to be a Bharati because my countrymen the Bharati politicians who rule Bharat are corrupt, I don’t like to be equated with these corrupt rogues who destroy the nation. I am ashamed to hold the same citizenship as that of third class and corrupt politicians who rule Bharat. Otherwise I am proud of Bharat which is a great nation having great cultural heritage and thousands of years history. Bharat otherwise is a great nation which gave to the world the great epics Ramayana and Mahabarata and invented the game of Chess. Bharat otherwise is a great nation that produced great men like Rabindranath Tagore – Swami Vivekananda and Mahatmah Gandhi. In present Bharat there are no great men nor great thinkers and great leaders. Current leaders are sowing the seeds of discord among the citizens on religious grounds and it is they who will split Bharat once again as they have done in 1947.
If Bharat splits once again it will be only because of the present day communal leaders of India and if one analysis this point very impartially the day of further split of India is not far, it may be today or tomorrow, if not tomorrow then the day after tomorrow but surely it will come, may be during my life time or my children or grand children life time, if our leaders are not going to change their habits of dividing the people on religious lines. The acquisition of Atomic weapons is not a safeguard to protect the sovereignity and integrity of Bharat. The super power the Soviet Russia even with all its atomic and hydrogen arsenals within a split of a second got splitted into pieces, so atomic weapons is not the safeguard of any country’s sovereignity and integrity.
Pakistan and China are not the enemies of Bharat. The greatest enemy of Bharat is communalism propagated by its own communal Bharati citizens and it is thru this communalism that Bharat will further split. That will be the sad day for Bharat and all the great Bharati people and thinkers. My regret is that as a Bharati by force due to forcibly acquisition of Goa by Bharat I will have to face lot of problems in Goa too which was acquired by Bharat in the name of fake liberation. I don’t want this fake liberation, I want true liberation. But will I ever get it?
While concluding I say with my head down in shame for being a Bharati against my wish, Bharati culture and tradition is totally diifferent from Goan. Goan discipline is totally different from Bharati. Goan way of life is much superior to that of Bharati. I deslike to be Bharati against my wishes. I am longing for true and genuine liberation for my Goa. Will I get it? Or will I remain in Invaded Goa till I die?

December 17, 2011
NINETEENTH DECEMBER IS THE ROBBERY DAY OF GOA.
Tomorrow 19th December 2011 Goa marks the 50th anniversary of its liberation. The word liberation is a misnomer. The correct word should be the “CONQUEST” because according to the landmark judgment delivered by the highest court of India – The Supreme Court – on 19th December 1961 Goa was not liberated from the Portuguese but “Conquered” by Bharat from the Portuguese. Still to go one step further, a highly intellectual son of Goa, Fr. Philip Neri Mendonca, the then Principal of St. Joseph’s High School Arpora, Bardez, Goa, in his capacity as a layman and not as a Chief Justice of Supreme Court of India, stated that “on 19th December 1961, Goa was invaded by Bharat and was not liberated”.
Bangladesh was liberated by Bharat and given to the sons and daughters of Bangladesh while Goa was not. Instead Goa was conquered and annexed to Bharat just as what Saddam Hussein did for Kuwait on 2nd August 1990 and annexed it to Iraq converting it into one of Iraq's provinces. Some Goan elders 50 years back said that Goa was “Robbed” from Goans by Nehru’s Congress Party of Bharat. Even some freedom fighters in Goa felt that Bharat should not have annexed Goa to it without consulting Goans. And when I queried one of the Hindu freedom fighters from my village in Candolim who himself has undergone a long term prison snetence at Aguada, said that “WE AS FREEDOM FIGHTERS FROM GOA, ONLY WANTED ASSISTANCE FROM BHARAT TO GET RID OF PORTUGUESE FROM GOA INCLUDING INTERNATIONAL CAMPAIGN AGAINST PORTUGUESE RULE IN GOA BUT NEVER TO LEGALISE GOA ILLEGALLY AS PART OF INDIA”.
What would be the fate of Goa if Bharat on 19th December 1961 had not to intervene millitarily in Goa leaving it as it was? Heaven would not fall. On the contrary it would have been a big blessing and booster for Goa and real Goans. A decade after Goa was annexed to Bharat by force, Slazarist regime lost power in Portugal and all its African colonies got independence on silver platter. In the same manner Goa would also get independence for Goans to decide their fate and future for the good of Goans and Goa. Goa had great sons and daughters then to guide and decide its destiny and they would rule Goa in a best possible way of course to the satisfaction of all Goans and not to the satisfaction of all the “Chor” and “Crimidor Ghanttis” and Ghanttised Goans.
The last Governador of Goa, Vassalo e Silva was a special appointee for Goa by Salazar who had great love for Goa and Goans. Salazar and his advisers thought in late fifties that something should be done for Goa so that all categories of Goans can become self sufficient and they can rely upon themselves for the development of their Goa. In view of this Salazar appropriately selected Governador Vassalo e Silva for this job in Goa.
As a matter of fact, internally Governador Vassalo e Silva was anti-Salazar and anti-Dictator. As a step in right direction, Vassalo e Silva introduced a law in Goa in the late fifties to make Portuguese education compulsory for all Goan children attaining the age of 6 and it was to be imparted Free Of Charge. This law was introduced by Portuguese Government to elevate the educational standard of Goans because it is thru education that makes a person advanced.
Agriculture was given a top priority. In my village saline water entered into our fields and spoiled the whole crop. Governador Silva himself came to check it near our Church, entered the field assisted by my father who was the “de facto" leader of “Xetkar & Zotkar” and walking personally checked the broken “Bandh” which led the saline water from the Sea to enter into the fields. Governador at times talked to my father asking some questions about this saline water and my father being fluent in Portuguese as none among his "Xetkar" tribe answered him well. Then the Governador spoke to the village elders and members of the Communidade and arranged to put things into order with a promise that “I will see to it that no crop is spoiled and wasted”.
Similar exercise he did elsewhere in Goa to give a fillip to agriculture and Goan agriculturists. Then later on Governador came to our Communidade Hall and impressed upon the elders to give top priority for the development of Caju Plantation. We had behind the Church Caju plantation on the big mountainous land of Communidade and as a booster we got free of charge small Caju plants to develop there. This resulted in a big yield for us in our Caju fruits and Caju Nuts. Similar exercise was done elsewhere in Goa too to boost the Caju plantation in Goa, so also for other crops.
Then the same Governador seeing the potential of mining industry in Goa and its improvement issued a Circular to Goans settled outside Goa to come back and get employment in Goa only and in this direction he assured them jobs in mining industry for English educated Goans and in Government sectors for Portuguese educated. Some Goans working in Qatar and Bahrain even left their lucrative jobs in the Oil sectors and returned to Goa where they were absorbed by the Chowgules, Dempo-Souza, Sesa Goa and other companies.
Governador Vassalo e Silva made his office accessible to any Goan for any of his needs. He started to mix up with commoners like a common man himself. This was resented by many of the Goan Bamonn aristocrats and Bhattkars but Governador Silva never cared for them. In 1960 while returning from Aguada, Governador Vassalo e Silva came to our Portuguese School and directly entered in our class and surprisinglyy approached me as if he knew me that I am a commoner and asked me in Portuguese: “Tem Sacola?” I said, “Nao Senhor Governador”. For this he gave me one School Bag. Likewise he did for others also in Marathi Xalla.
He was so simple, once I was going to Panjim with my eldest brother for the soccer match. My brother known as “Cheddo” was an ace footballer of Goa Police Soccer Team comprising Portuguese “Pakles and Khapris”. When we entered into Ferryboat at Betim, suddenly Governador’s civilian Jeep also entered without any hassle.and external pomp. No battalion of armed guards nor police escort. Simple Governador with one simple driver and one simple guard. He did not even avail of the especial facility for him alone to be in the Ferryboat. During those days only Governador and Patriarch had the privilege for especial Ferryboat service to cross the rivers. When his Jeep parked in the Ferryboat, he immediately got down from his rear seat and gave a very loving and affectionate smile to all. Then again fortunately for me he smilingly approached me and lovingly touched my cheek and said “Senhor Rapaz, come esta?” Then he saw one elderly Hindu woman carrying a Basket full of vegetable to sell it in Panjim, stood in front of her and affectionately said something in Portuguese to her. She was all smiles and happy like me for encountering Governador in this manner.
The Governador vouched that every Goan must have goods and commodities cheaply. Once in 1960 the prices of the goods in Goa mainly in Panjim shot up suddenly especially of eatables. Seeing this, one fine morning dressed as commoner, Governador himself personally went to the market in Panjim and found out how shopkeepers have abruptly increased the prices of the commodities. Then immediately he advised his subordinates to take stringent action against these shopkeepers and immediately the prices were brought down. During his tenure, when he noticed struggle for the ouster of Portuguese from Goa, he even requested the genuine freedom fighters to come and meet him to discuss this subject but none approached him openly and directly. He disliked those freedom fighters for Goa coming from Ghanttar. He said they have no right and authority to talk for and on behalf of Goa and Goans. Even Morarjee Desai as a Chief Minister of Bombay and as a spokesman of Congress said that “only Goans should fight for their Goa and remove Portuguese from their soil”.
In Goa there were 2 types of freedom fighters, one genuine & secular and the others “Chor-Krimidor & communal. The latter section were killing, robbing and troubling innocent Goans and wanted Goa to become a Hindu Raj, they were communal and had hatred for Christians Governador Vassalo e Silva refused to talk to them. Governador wanted to find some sort of peaceful solution for Goa and for this reason he was paving the way for Goans to be prepared for this day either today or tomorrow but surely that day was coming. What Portuguese Governador Antonio Spinola in his book “Portugal e Futuro” in Mocambique predicted in Seventies that Portuguese rule will come to an end in Africa, Governador Vassalo e Silva guessed in 1960 about Goa. For this reason he was preparing Goans to be self sufficient to take over Goa by themselves only.
Governador Vassalo e Silva loved Goa and Goans very much irrespective of their caste and creed. In fact some of the Goans who were very close to him were Goan Hindus, including Dayananda Bandodkar. Sensing this, Nehru as a crook assisted by another Malyali double crook Krishna Menon – the then disgraceful Defence Minister of India created a hostile situation for Portuguese Government in Goa and attacked Goa. The rest was a history which was created on 19th December 1961 without taking consent of Goa based genuine Goans. By the way, even if genuine Goans want to do something, are they in position to do now? And as a matter of fact, are there any genuine Goans living in Goa now to think of the glorious days they spent in Goa?
During Portuguese days, life in Goa was safe for Goans, living standard of Goans was fine, Goans were not sleeping and cooking under the shade of trees like Bharati Ghanttis. Every Goan had a roof over his head unlike innumerable Bharatis. No Goan was producing children on the streets like Bharatis in many parts of Bharat. There was system and discipline everywhere in Goa unlike elsewhere in Bharat. Portuguese Goa had a history of 450 years of best administration while Bharat not, Bharati administration was full of corruption. In Portuguese Goa respect for law and order was very much existing and crime rate was very negligible while elsewhere in Bharat it was total chaos. No Goan houses were fitted with iron grill doors and windows. Our houses were open round the clock, no fear of robbers coming to rob our houses.
Most of the Portuguese Pakles were very friendly to Goans and they interacted with Goans very freely. Hindus, Christians and Muslims were living in a very friendly way. There was no communal hatred, as it is in post December 1961, all were living as one Goan homogeneous entity. Common Goan even from the lowest strata of casteist Goan society was given facility to occupy positions in Government and other private sectors. Goans were given high ranks in the Army and Police sectors. If Goans faced any problems and discrimination it was only because of the disgraceful Goan Bhattkars and Bamonn who acted more dictators and brutes than dictators and brutes themselves.
During Portuguese time common Goan was harassed not by the Portugese but by the Goan Bamonn Bhatkars. All members of Hindu, Christian and Muslim communities were treated equally. Hindus occupied some of the top positions in the Government sectors and they only controlled the commerce including mining industry besides other sectors including franchises to import foreign goods. Everybody looked happy in all the fronts except the Portuguese domination which could have been easily eradicated if Bharat had not to send its around 20 thousand well equipped Army marching over my Goa outnumbering only around 5 thousand Portuguese millitary of Goa and finally destroying Goa beyond recognition of its original self.
In 50 years Goa lost so much of its original self, in another few years Goa will be totally mutilated and destroyed unless we have Goan patriots in Goa Legislative Assembly as the last Portuguese Governador Vassalo e Silva. Goa and Goans were more protected, loved and supported by the European Portuguese than the Indian Bharatis. This is the tragedy of Goa we experienced during the last 50 years of Bharati rule in Goa.
In view of above, can we really call Goa a liberated land? Liberated from whom? We are not liberated but dominated more vigorously and more firmly by the corrupt Bharati system which has already taken firm roots in Goa. Bharatis said Goans are free now and equal with others while under Portuguese rule not. Foolish Statement!! Even with 50 years of Barati rule in Goa, sadly Goa's name is not included in the Bharati National Anthem thus making Goa and Goans as outsiders in Bharat. During Portuguese regime we were bowing down our heads before white skin of Portuguese while under Bharat we are made to bow down with folded hands before the rascals of Delhi wearing white "khadi" dress and Gandhi Topi. This white colour has made us equal slaves of both the regimes.
During the Portuguese regime we had to be at the mercy of Lisbon High Command but under Bharat we had to be the slaves of Delhi High Command inspite of having our own self State Government. What sort of freedom is it that we are enjoying? It is worst than the slavery. And we call it freedom? To hell with this type of freedom. In this type of freedom, Goa is losing its identity, demographic structure is totally changed in Goa to convert Goans into minority where non-Goans are dominating Goans. Our own chor politicinas and Bamtte politicians are giving Goa on silver platter to non-Goans. This is not the freedom and liberation that we Goans wanted and want. 19th December according to me should be marked as the DAY OF ROBBERY because on this day in 1961 Bharat under the rule of Congress Party headed in the Parliament by crook Nehru robbed Goa and made Goans as orphans. 19th December should be marked as the day of moaning because on this day in 1961 Goan women were raped by Indian Army personnel, on this day in 1961 Goan shops were looted of foreign goods by Indian Army personnel. On this day at Calangute Tinto our own Goan brother mercilessly was killed by Bharati Army personnel. On this day in 1961 Bharati Army personnel comitted many illdeeds and crimes.
TO HELL WITH THIS LIBERATION WHERE THERE IS ALL ROUND CORRUPTION AND NO LIFE SECURITY. THIS LIBERATION IS GOOD FOR CHORS AND CRIMIDORS and not for good Goans.
While concluding I must admit that Portuguse rule in Goa had to come to an end because I hate colonialism but in the same manner I also hate forcible annexation of Goa by Bharat withou our consent thereby recolonising Goa. Bharat on 19th December 1961 had no business nor right to invade Goa by using mighty millitary force. Goa belonged to Goans and not to Ghanttis who are become landlords of Goa and also de facto and de jure owners of Goa..

A. VERONICA REPLY TO LAWRENCE FERNADES ON WILLIAM DE CURTORIM'S DEATH.
A. Veronica Fernandes replies to Lawrence Fernandes - Sancoale.
Dear Lawrencebab,
I still remember meeting you in Dubai some years back when I addressed a meeting there in one of the Church halls to campaign for the cause of Konkani. The meet was arranged by Jose Remed Fernandes popularly known as Young Fernandes. I still remember your supportive role for this meet for the cause of Konkani. How is our friend Simon Carvalho?
Now the point is William de Curtorim's death and how he died? Was it really a heart attack or foul play by the gang of politicians? According to official version it was heart attack and since I am in Kuwait I beleived it but since you are in Goa I think you will know more and better and if you know more please share it with our readers who are anxiously waiting to get more information.
We cannot remain as silent spectators if there is any foul play. William de Curtorim used the Stage to fight for the cause of Konkani and Goa and also against corruption. We also belonged to this ideology and as such we have obligation to defend him in any form we can against his ideological opponents.
There are stories going on that during his last accident some foul play was done by his once close politician friends whom he raised to the pedestal in the beginning but later on they got angry on him for his exposure of them when he noticed them looting Goa and encouraging corruption in Goa.
A few years back some goonda politicians created disorder thru their hired ruffians for his Tiatro at Margao. According to one source these Salcette based Catholic goonda politicians tried to bribe William into submission to their diktats but William refused for this reason they, according to one source were thinking to get rid of William de Curtorim. Of late William was unbribable person because he told me when he came to Kuwait last time that financially his position is much better than what it was once and in such a situation I will not accept any "Chiri-Miri" from these "Chors" to silence my tongue against their corrupt practices of looting Goa and Goans.
Lawrencebab, I still feel that there was major foul play in his last accident. I once cautioned him to be careful when travelling alone in the night after performing in the Tiatro, returning home in his Motorcycle but he was little reckless in listening too such advices.
If these goonda politicians think they will have peace after liquidating William de Curtorim from this planet, if they are really guilty of foul play, then they are sadly mistaken. Tiatrists and people behind William in support of justice will revolt against all those responsible in the foul play against William.
Holding the Cup of Hemlock in his hand just before drinking it, the great ancient Greek philosopher Socrates told the authorites liquidating him something like this "If you think by liquidating me you will have peace after me then you are mstaken. You are killing me saying I am poisoning the minds of the youth but instead I am educating them to know of your ill deeds. Now the same youth after my death will analyse why Socrates was killed and once they find out the truth they will oppose you more than me and you will never have peace".
I am sure all the Tiatrists and justice fighters after William's death will become more convinced of what he was singing was right and thus all of them will be forced to do worst than what William did against corrupt politicians.

Dear Veronica,
Nice write-up. But you did not say how he died. Was he sick? Was it a heart attack? Was that the side effect of the accident he met with some time ago? Or was he beaten up for singing a song on some politician? His followers would like to know the answer.May his soul rest in eternal peace.

FROM THE FRYING PAN INTO THE FIRE.
From The Frying Pan Into The Fire
“Give me blood and I will give you freedom” the thundering voice myhistory teacher in school still resounds and resonates in my ears evenmore than thirty five years later as I go back in time. Probably hewas a fan of our immortal Netaji SC Bose and got a little carried awayby his patriotism while he was teaching us history in secondaryschool.
I am sure a lot of blood and tears were shed by our eminent andgenuine freedom fighters over the years and centuries for Goa’sfreedom, though we did not have leaders of the caliber of Netaji SCBto lead, but we Goans were fortunate to have others who risked andeven sacrificed their lives and their happiness for our freedom, weshould all salute those worthy man and women who fought and even diedfor our freedom but unfortunately their sacrifices have been in vainand if they were and are still alive today I am sure they would stillbe fighting for our true liberation and not live on the dole providedby our corrupt government like the phonies of today, who are onlyallergic to Portuguese names and ships.
Today as we are all geared up to celebrate fifty years of liberationlet us reflect on what we are about to celebrate, are we well andtruly free today ? Is this the freedom that our erstwhile freedomfighters fought and died for ? Or in all earnest, are we celebratingfifty years of loot and debauchery by our Goan politicians ?
I do not condone the tyranny of the Portuguese but unfortunately todayeven though we Goans are free of the Portuguese rule, we are stillunder bondage, and that too of our own making as corruption, communalrepression, nepotism, police brutality, muck stuck law and ordermachinery, environmental and ecological degradation and above allstagnant governance, have overtaken the oppression of the Portugueseand It would certainly not be wrong in saying that we have well andtruly fallen from the frying pan into the fire and with absolutely nosemblance of foresight and planning we are like a ship in the middleof an ocean, with no radar or compass, deemed to crash or sink anytime and yet we are ready to rock-n-roll at our fifty years of socalled liberation.
Over the years the whole world has been mesmerized by Goa’s beauty, tranquility and resources but unfortunately those very same, havebrought Goa’s downfall. The tranquility of Goa has been shattered byour unscrupulous greedy politicians, as people are forced to opposetheir anti Goan policies and projects, as they have encouragedoutsiders to pouring in, for work, leisure and pleasure, bringing inwith them the menace of drugs, gang wars and prostitution. Some haveeven made Goa their permanent homes, thus pushing the land prices outof Goans affordability and over burdening our already burdenedinfrastructure, as such more often than not Goans have been forced totake to the streets to make our statement.
Goa’s virgin beauty of its coast has been destroyed by the mass exodusof tourists on our coastal beaches and as a result of which ourbeaches are full of shacks, beds and garbage, our sand dunes and evenour eco-sensitive mangroves have been destroyed giving rise toconcrete jungles in place of our once green cover. Our forests aredisappearing faster than our receding hair lines and bald hills andmountains have taken up the landscapes, our once endless plains havebeen desecrated by countless shanties which lack basic amenities andhygiene, which further become a cause of health hazards, even thoughour politicians have turned them into their bastions of vote bank.
In school I was thought that our natural recourses were our nationalwealth, only if it was true, as our resourceful mineral wealth hasbeen hijacked by a coterie of influential people with the help of ourinapt politicians, with no control or policies to curb illegalitiesand fraud; as such miners have gone on rampage in the destruction ofour environment and our ecology, as a result of which our water tableshave crashed, our flower and fauna have been destroyed and air andwater pollution levels have gone well beyond the permissible levels.Along with the rising apathy for constructive planning of our inaptauthorities, people’s anxieties and insecurities have also grownmanifold and so our resourceful manpower too is suffering from braindrain as Goans have moved away to greener pastures, moving away fromcorruption and nepotism, for growth and better quality of life forthemselves and their children. It’s unbelievable that our Authoritiesare doing all they can to send people abroad but have not doneanything concrete to attract Goans back to Goa or even keep Goans inGoa.
What Goa and Goans need today is not, bridges every kilometer or a sealink or mega projects or forty meter highways or ten meter expresswaysin villages or settlement zones well in to eco-sensitive agriculturalland and even hinterland. What Goans need today is 24 x 7 water andelectricity, quality education and health care policy, protection ofour fragile and eco-sensitive environment, viable and constructivedevelopment that will be suitable and proportional to ourinfrastructural development and also an employment policy that willprovide sustenance and livelihood for Goans that will not justminimize unemployment but also stop the brain drain. Our police shouldkeep to their vows of being a source of help and support to the peopleand not exploit them, so that law and order is maintained and enforcedeffectively and efficiently without any nepotism and interference fromany officials or authorities so that Goans can live peaceful andsecure lives, only then can we boast of Goa being a model state ofIndia. Only then can we really celebrate our liberation and freedom orelse as it stands today we would be only celebrating fifty years ofloot and debauchery of our Goan politicians because it is only thepoliticians, miners and land sharks that have prospered in the lastfifty years of the so called liberation and that too at the cost ofGoa and Goans.
Elections are fast approaching and it is our last chance to save Goafrom these corrupt politicians, let us do it for Goa and ourposterity. Goa Jai Ho !

BAR COUNCIL ISSUES NOTICES TO ADVOCATE AMIT DESAI AND ADVOCATE ASHWIN BHOBE
Acting on the complaint of professional misconduct filed by Adv. Aires Rodrigues the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa has issued notices to Mumbai Senior Advocate Amit Desai and Panaji based Adv. Ashwin Bhobe.
The Bar Council has given Adv. Amit Desai and Adv. Ashwin Bhobe 15 days to file their reply to the complaint filed against them. Adv. Aires Rodrigues in his complaint under Section 35 of Advocates Act, 1961 has drawn the attention of the Bar Council that Adv. Amit Desai had fraudulently raised bills and had claimed Rs five lakhs for four hearings he never appeared for before the Bombay High Court at Goa in the Ryan Fernandes death sentence confirmation case.
Adv. Rodrigues in his complaint has stated that under the terms of his appointment Adv. Amit Desai was only entitled to a fee of Rs 1, 25,000 for every appearance in the case before the High Court and that he was not entitled to any fees for conferences he now claims were held at a Panaji hotel. Adv. Rodrigues in his complaint has further stated that Adv. Amit Desai’s raising the bills was a clear act of cheating, while Adv. Ashwin Bhobe had criminally conspired and corroborated in the act by submitting those bills to the government knowing that the bills were falsely raised.
Adv. Rodrigues has also stated that the bills raised by Adv. Amit Desai were forwarded and pursued by Adv. Ashwin Bhobe who was fully aware that Adv. Amit Desai had not appeared for those four hearings and was fraudulently claiming Rs five lakhs. Adv. Rodrigues has further stated that Adv. Amit Desai and Adv. Ashwin Bhobe with common intention conspired and dishonestly induced the State Government into paying the bills for appearances not made and falsely represented before the Government that the four appearances in Court were truly made.
Adv. Rodrigues has sent to the Bar Council copies of all documents obtained by him under the Right to Information Act which establish that Adv. Amit Desai and Ashwin Bhobe had cheated the State Exchequer. . Demanding action by the Bar Council against Advocate Amit Desai and Adv. Ashwin Bhobe, Adv. Aires Rodrigues has stated that their conduct was a clear act of gross professional misconduct.

JERRY CALL ON WILLIAM DE CURTORIM.
Hi Anthony Veronica,
Bravo for your beautiful write-up on the demise of our Tiatrist the late William de Curtorim, may his soul rest in peace.
He gave his life n time for Konkani Stage. He was a great composer and singer using strong Konkani words. When he was singing his political songs against corrupt politicians he was fuming with anger and this was seen on his facial appearance.
His last CD which I heard was a direct "Zupatti" to Parrkar n BJP. For the Tiatro FLORIAN VAZ POILO MARTYR I have taken him to Abu Dhabi about a decade back, in this Tiatro he was a special attraction n with his powerful 3 songs he made Abu Dhabi crowd very happy. One of his songs "Karnatakachim Zaddam Goychim Ranam" was the most beautiful. His artificial moustache was showing his anger when he was singing political songs.
Since last year there was not much of William de Curtorim on Konkani satage n this was felt on Kokanim Stage also. "Devak zai asloli vost amkam mellonam, fokot magtam devan taka sorguinchem raj divpak ani toxench buzvonn tache familik".
Anthony I have no words to admire your talent of writing such obituaries full of history and wisdom. Really you are like an encyclopedia on Tiatro and Tiatrists. Your this write-up indicates your vast knowledge on Tiatro World. You are the only Goan among expatriates showing your high calibre of journalism. Keep it up. William will pray for you from Heaven.

ADEUS WILLIAM DE CURTORIM.
SEEN IN THE PICTURE ABOVE IS THE LATE TIATRIST WILLIAM DE CURTORIM.It is with deep shock I received the sad news of the sad demise of William de Curtorim known in Tiatro world as the "Jet Speed Singer". His death on 11th of this month at his residence was really an unexpected blow not only to his family members but also to his vast followers who loved him more for his political songs. My closeness to him started about 25 years back when we Kuwaitkars brought him to Kuwait to participate in the Tiatro staged by the late Rex de Bardez. Along with William we Kuwaitkars also brought Churchill Alemao as chief guest for this Tiatro and made him hero because of his fight for the cause of Konkani.
William de Curtorim was an instant success during his appearance on the stage where he rendered excellent songs to the satisfaction of the hall packed Kuwait Goan audience. Within a short period Kuwait was invaded by Iraq on 2nd August 1990.
During the invasion of Kuwait he was deeply worried of Kuwait and of Goans’ future and at the time of the formation of Goa-Kuwait Solidarity Centre movement in Goa to raise our voice in support of the liberation of Kuwait he was in touch with me meeting me at Panjim and even offering his advice especially for the first public rally followed by public meeting in Panjim When I told him at this moment of our disappointment over some tiatrists criticizing Kuwait Goans following the invasion of Kuwait, he remarked saying "te aple maechem dud pionk nant, beiman te. Kuwaitkarani Konknni passot vavr kela te porim konnencuh korunk and voilean tancher bodmasponna?" Then he requested me to permit him to say a few words during our meeting at Azad Maidan and you see "aum tankam kosso dhutam poi to".
After the liberation of Kuwait we brought him to Kuwait many times for the Tiatros organized by Rosary Ferns and for the Musical Shows organized by Konkani Heritage Kuwait and during these occasions he resided at my place. At least during four such occasions he stayed at my place along with other visiting artistes – males and females. Incidentally he received more visitors to greet and meet him at my place than any other artiste, many of the people bringing him gifts also.
During his stay at my place it was pleasure to listen to his jokes and mimicry even at night time when his other colleagues were sleeping and thereby tempting some of them to get up from their sleep and listen to his mimicry and imitation of some corrupt politicians. He was a very jolly man and enjoyed the company of good listeners. He liked me very much and loved to stay with me at my place during his visits to Kuwait. He loved my writings, he loved my talking and also my singing especially old songs of yesteryears great tiatrists. During one of his visits to Kuwait taking part in the Show organized by KHK, he was honoured in Kuwait by KHK for his contribution in the field of Tiatro.
In Kuwait as in Goa and elsewhere he was most ought after Tiatrist. Though he was known to sing songs on fast tempo because of which he was known as "Jet Speed Singer" yet people loved his songs on political topics which were very hard hitting and embarrassment to his political opponents. Though his political songs were hard hitting the corrupt politicians below their belts yet they very meaningful and full of love for the cause of Goa and Goans. Because of such hard hitting songs he was once summoned to the Police Station at Mapusa on the instruction of one heavyweight politician of the ruling Junta of Goa. However, as a fearless campaigner against corrupt politicians he did not bow down like his predecessors earlier, namely Kid Boxer and Trio Kings:Conception-Nelson-Anthony.
He had great love for Goa and its uniqueness it derived from its past. He once told me "If necessary, I will even sacrifice my life to fight for the cause of Goa", and taking this view in mind he rendered number of songs against Maharastrawadi Gomantak Party and its stalwarts Dayananda Bandodkar and his daughter Shashikala Kakodkar especially in his song ‘Shasikala – Cocacola’. He once told me "MGP ek kiddo, to kiddo kobar korunkuch zai na tor to Kiddo Goem, Goykarponn and Konkani kobar kortelo’. After Dayananda Bandodkar and Shashikala Kakodkar, his ire was against Prataphsing Rane who he said silently working against the interest of Goans in general and against the Christians in particular. His hard hitting song against Rane saying "Raneche Bailechea Pottak Tel Laita" justifies his anger on Rane's misdeeds.
All his Konkani Albumss were top success, so also the few Tiatros he staged. As a human being he was very fearless and daring man and because of this quality he could sing political songs of the type he was singing. He was also a very good comedy singer and a very fast composer. While singing a prepared song, without any hesitation, suddenly he could change one or two verses according to the liking of the audience.
Once when I told him how the late Young Menezes once rendered a fast solo comprising 500 words, he was surprised and pondered for a few seconds to imagine Young Menezes' super talent to sing such a big song on Jet Speed degree.
As usual he had in tiatrist circle lot of jealous Tiatrists who always tried to drop him down but he resisted all their attempts because audience was with him who always supported him. It is a pity that he died when he was fully matured Tiatrist thereby creating a big void in Tiatro ciricle. Since he is no more, all the corrupt politicians will have a nice sleep.
In his death Goa lost a great Tiatrist who fought from the Stage for the cause of Goa, Konkani and corruption Free Goa. From the Stage he had a lot to give to Goa and Goan causes but death snatched everything away. Who will carry forward his undone work? Time alone will give answer to this complex question.
Mentime, on behalf of all my friends and colleagues who supported William in his campaign for the cause of Goa, I offer my deep condolences to his wife and daughters.
In his death One more pillar of Konkani Stage disappeared. May his soul Rest In Peace.

RELEASE OF BOOKLET ON GOA'S ADVOCATE GENERAL SUBODH KANTAK DELAYED.
RELEASE OF BOOKLET ON GOA’S ADVOCATE GENERAL SUBODH KANTAK DELAYED.
The release of the booklet “Misdeeds of Advocate General Subodh Kantak” which was scheduled for December 19th has been delayed.
Adv. Aires Rodrigues has today stated that the delay in releasing the booklet was as the request made to Chief Minister Digambar Kamat to print the booklet at the Government Printing Press was still pending with the Government for over a month.
Adv. Rodrigues has stated that by a letter on 4th November he had requested Chief Minister Digambar Kamat that in public interest the booklet be printed at the Government printing press and be distributed by the Department of Information through all the Municipalities and Panchayats to every house free of cost.
Adv. Rodrigues has also stated that the 50 page booklet would be a documented account with all evidence on the glaring misdeeds and irregularities committed by Advocate General of Goa Mr. Subodh Kantak.
Adv. Rodrigues has stated that one of the issues on which this government had to be judged at the next Assembly elections was the manner in which Advocate General Subodh Kantak had been paid over five crores over the last five years making him India’s highest paid Advocate General.
Stating that the Subodh Kantak saga was a very dark chapter in the 50 years of Goa’s Liberation, Adv Rodrigues has accused the government of shielding the illegalities committed by Advocate General Mr. Subodh Kantak.
Adv. Rodrigues has further stated that inspite of Chief Minister Digambar Kamat’s repeated assurances that the Advocate General’s fees would be slashed and brought on par with the AG’s of Maharastra, Karnataka and Gujarat, that the Chief Minister had taken no action and allowed Mr. Subodh Kantak to recklessly bleed the State exchequer
Adv. Rodrigues has also alleged that due to unsound politically tainted legal advice being given to the Government by the Advocate General, almost every decision taken by this government has landed up being challenged before the Courts with most of them quashed and set aside.
Adv. Rodrigues has stated that Mr. Subodh Kantak instead of upholding the dignity and self-respect of the high constitutional post had tarnished the image and sanctity of the post by not maintaining the required high standards of professional ethics and decorum.

PANAJI POLICE INSPECTOR DECLINES TO REGISTER CHEATING CASE AGAINST DGP ADITYA ARYA.
PANAJI PI DECLINES TO REGISTER CHEATING CASE AGAINST DGP ADITYA ARYA
Panaji Police Inspector Ramesh Gaonkar has declined to register a criminal case of cheating against Goa’s Director General of Police Dr Aditya Arya.
The Police Inspector by a letter has informed Adv. Aires Rodrigues that the complaint filed by him against the DGP in connection with the Gokarna visit does not make out a cognizable case against DGP Dr Arya.
Adv. Aires Rodrigues had filed a complaint at the Panaji Police Station against DGP Dr Arya for having caused a loss to the State exchequer by having on 16th October unauthorisedly taken his official vehicle GA-08-G-0064 to Gokarna in Karnataka for a purely personal visit, having traveled 393 kms.
Stating that as per directives of the Government, any official vehicle cannot be traveling out of State without the written permission of the Chief Secretary, Adv. Rodrigues in his complaint had stated that this act by the DGP amounts to a clear act of cheating the State exchequer punishable under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code. Adv. Rodrigues has in his complaint further stated that though DGP Arya had claimed that he had obtained ‘verbal permission’ from the Chief Minister to travel to Gokarna, that the Chief Minister had stated that no such permission had been sought nor obtained.
Meanwhile, Adv. Aires Rodrigues has today stated that before moving the Court he would be appealing to the North Goa Superintendent of Police under section 154 (3) of the Criminal Procedure Code against the decision of the Panaji PI not to register the case against the DGP.
Adv. Rodrigues has also stated that he would be writing to Union Home Minister Mr. P. Chidambaram to seek a probe into the illegalities committed by DGP Dr. Aditya Arya.

HAVE THE DYNAMICS OF DYNAMISM CHANGED?
Have The Dynamics Of Dynamism Changed ?
We have been reading a lot of hollow pronouncements by the so called well wishers on the birthdays of the shoots and siblings of Goan politicians on the news papers, I am sure, most of us by now know why and how these con artists called, youth icons, social workers and even dynamic social workers pop up like mushrooms on and around the anthills at the fag end of the rainy season, unless the definition and the dynamics of dynamism have been changed overnight to suite the elite.
Hold your breath people, elections are just round the corner, so be assured that we’ll find a lot more of these samples popping out of every politician’s woodwork and groin. It must be a record of sorts, that a small place like Goa is blessed with such hoards of youth icons, social workers and even dynamic social workers along with an endless list of NGO’s who are working tirelessly for the welfare of Goa and Goans but unfortunately Goa and Goans are still mired in misery and on the brink of annihilation, so much for the iconic dynamism of social work. I only hope God can help Goa and Goans from this avalanche of iconic dynamic social workers.

CLEARING THE POLITICAL GARBAGE.
CLEARING THE POLITICAL GARBAGE
By Aires Rodrigues
The much needed electoral reforms may never see the light of the day. The current political rot however cannot continue. Goa could lead by example if there is a consensus within all political parties to cleanse the political arena. The coming Assembly elections may be an opportunity to show the way.
Those over the age of 65 should be put to pasture. Also under no condition should more than one in a family be allowed to contest. There should be no exceptions. In a democracy there can be no room for nepotism and dynasty politics. Power concentrated in the hands of a few families is detrimental and suicidal to the welfare of our State.
MLA’s are elected to enact good and sound legislations and not to supervise hot mixing of roads and construction of culverts. So it is essential that every candidate should at least be a graduate in any faculty, except corruption.
Electing all 40 new faces may not be ideal as we need a combination of experience and fresh blood to ensure that the MLA’s discharge their responsibilities to rescue Goa from the woods. Can Goa accept this challenge and deliver?
