CANDOLIM GRAM SABAH TURNED INTO A FIASCO

The Grama Sabah of Candolim held on Sunday 25^th of this month at 10.45 AM turned into a total fiasco when in the middle of the proceedings all the attendees heeding to the call given by A.Veronica Fernandes Walked Out of the house in protest against the Sarpanch and all  his colleagues for refusing to oblige the people’s voice.  In one voice all the attendees asked to revoke the earlier stand on ODP. Mr. Veronica said since it is the voice of the people who voted the Panchayat members to power and as such this Panchayat body  is duty bound to listen to the voice of the voters who are the supreme because these voters who elected the Panchayat body to power.  When Panchayat refused to oblige, the call came from A.Veronica for Walk Out.

Earlier, Damiao, Mickey Fernandes, Roshan, Cheddo, Sachin Kurticar, Regina, Fatima and others  systematically grilled  the Sarpanch on his non-fulfilled promises for which he was wavering  in his vague answers. He got one dirty habit to say yes for everything to kill that particular  time and then forget the issue.  People have realized that he cannot be trusted any more. Hence, the WO staged by the people.

The Panchayat has  as noticed by the people,  greatly goofed in inducting into the minutes of the last Gramsabah Meeting one item which was not deliberated only.  This fraud on the part of Panchayat was a dangerous trend and for this fraud, cheating and lying, all the members of the ruling faction should he held responsible.  I don’t know some of the Church goer and recipient of holy communion Panchayat members how they  dared to indulge in such cheatings. The local Panchayat body members have created a fear complex into the minds of the locals of harassing them for not following certain procedures in doing their jobs, especially the illegal structures. The Harassment starts if any of the guilty villager objects panchayat member for any wrong doing. This is the only thing they can do otherwise they are cowards.  This is where our leaders are making a mistake, they catch their easy target first but when they accept the bribe money in lakhs of rupees from the builders that time it was not injustice?  Otherwise, some of our villagers after getting elected in the local Panchayat how they become lakpotis?  Can our Sarpanch and his other colleagues  disclose their source of income from the time they first got elected?  Can the “ded – Xanno khapri”  from our village declare his source of income?  In Goa some of the bloody beggars when they started their political career they were acting like slaves but once they get elected they acquire lot of wealth and from where this wealth caming and how? 

Secondly, I have seen wherever there is a leader in any locality from outside Goa and settled down in Goa as a naturalised citizen of Goa, that particular non-Goan outsider will never do justice for the cause for which he is appointed or elected. In view of this, how a Ghanttee from Karnataka will do justice to Goa and Goan causes?  The so called our leader the other day as I was told, threatened one local young man saying that “he can use goondda force to finish him”, as if he is so omnipotent.  In the light of this remark and threat, if there is any untoward incident takes place for any of our activists, the first person to be blamed will be the so called Karnataka Ghantee leader of our village. It is surprising how our village that gave birth to such a mighty world renown person Abade Faria gave birth to the cheat members of our Panchayat.  If they were not cheat then they would not played dirty tricks in introducing in the minutes of the last Gramsabah Meet one topic which was not  approved only.

Finally, to all my villagers, at this hour, you all should be bold and courageus to defend your rights to protect your village in all respects.  Do not trust Panchayat members especially the ruling faction. They are volatile and changeable as they did when they jumped from Agnel’s side to Lobo’s side.  And tomorrow if third person comes with a good offer they will join him  discarding Lobo as well. A few of the current members are so cunning that by enjoying the support from Tomazinho first and later on of Agnel they discarded both of them till both were defeated for good.  Now the third person for them to destroy will be Lobo who is showing signs of falling down. Time alone will give te testimony to what I what say. 

My dear villagers, some of our local Panchayat members should be stopped from acting like Maharajas, they are nothing minus their membership in the Panchayat. One of them when he came from outside Goa he did not have even a “zopottpotti’ to take shelter but now he thinks he is the owner of our village.  Most of the members are suffering from their ancestral hoi-polloi family inferiority complex, the artificial power they have acquired has reached to their heads but they must know one thing that the current power they have acquired is all temporary power which once ends “NOT EVEN A KUDDO MUS” will look at them.  Why the ‘Kuddo Mus will look at them?  What are they in life?  They are selfish interested in doing good for them only. See the Marie Antoinette of our village who was reigning our village how she acquired the land and erected her own trade/shopping center to her house?  I only hope somebody will not teach her a lesson as it was taught to French Marie Antoinette.

NEW TIATRO "KOR MHOJEM KALLIZ TUJEA KALLZA SARKEM" BY WILLY SILVEIRA.

On Thursday, 22^nd of this month at Kala Academy Hall, Panjim, I saw the above named Tiatro  starting at 7.45pm and was attended by a good number of attendees. The Tiatro which is meant  for Lenten period is very well scripted by the handsome young director Willy Silveira and staged it very successfully.  Since this Tiatro is based on Christian doctrine where some of the Biblical quotations are quoted, I think its effect on the minds of the people will be more  than what our priests can produce from the Church.

Earlier, J.P.Souzalin was the prominent director to stage in Lenten seasons his Tiatros based on religion and thru which he propagated and spread the doctrine of Christians more than what our Church could do.  Following him, came others too namely Prem Kumar and Manuel de Lima.

This Tiatro of Willy Silveira must be brought to the notice of more and more Christians especially the Catholics who lack the Biblical knowledge.   The Church authorities in Goa must make it easy for Willy Silveira to stage this Tiatro in every village with the assistance of local Pe. Vigars. This is the good chance for the locals to mingle with the common folks just as Jesus Christ mingled and displayed his egalitarian sense. Besides, the central idea of this Tiatro is ’Forgiveness”.  Souzalin used to beautify  such Lenten Tiatros by introducing in such Lenten Tiatros the music of best of sorrowful Motets.   Willy also could have done this.

The roles played by both Juju and Chitra as husband and wife were excellent, especially Chitra whose majestic personality with her magnificent dresses befitting her  elite status brought an extra colour to this Tiatro. Even she sang so beautifully. She was the centre of ATTRACTION. The role of Juju was also wonderful so also the roles played by the young SCHOOL going girl and her boyfriend Merwin, the girl looked and sounded smarter. Child is the father of a man, said Worsworth, based on this, I can rightly say this young girl will be somebody at the later stage on Konkani Stage.  The roles played by Pascoal Rodrigues as the father of the boy is flawless and perfect as usual.  The director deserves compliments for selecting the appropriate artistes suitable for their respective roles.

In the Side Show songs, the solos rendered by the director of this Tiatro Willy Silveira, Mini Mario, Pascoal Rodrigues, Benny de Aldona, Cajetan de Curtorim and the wonderful political solo by Saby de Divar were worth admiring. The songs rendered  by Benny de Aldona along with Cajetan de Curtorim and both the young girls were good while the trio rendered by Willy Silveira- Chitra – Juju was wonderful not only in the words but more because it was rendered by Chitra beautifully with her  mellifluent voice.

DEMOLITION ORDER IN CANDOLIM.

In Candolim the village Panchayat acts sometimes like a Hamlet – to be or not to be – for some important decisions when demolitions of structures of big non-goan people are concerned. Inspite of the High Court Directive in Writ petition No. 90/2000 and Circular No 15/77/DP/CIRC/2000/1649 dated 10.07.2000 issued by the Director of Panchayats to all the Panchayats in Goa to strictly follow the instructions of   the said Circular according to which unauthorized construction on the Roof-Top of Block Q by the Non-Goan Builder M/s R. & H.Spaces Pvt. Ltd., at Anna Vaddo Candolim, becomes illegal and for which the demolition order was issued to the Builder by the Candolim Village Panchayat to demolish the said structure within 30 days from the receipt of the order.  This is in reference to the complaint filed by one local Mr.Anthny J. D’Souza who is fighting this battle against the above mentioned Non-Goan Builder.

However, the Candolim Panchayat has failed to carry out the demolition at the cost of the builder and also failed to disconnect the Electricity connection and also Water connection as per the directive of the Honourable High Court of Panaji Goa vide its order in Writ Petition No. 90/2000 till date and thereby proving beyond doubts that there is no authority in the State of Goa to take legal action against the illegal construction carried out by the non-Goan big hotelier M/s R. & H. Spaces Pvt. Ltd., at Anna Vaddo, Candolim, for the unauthorized  construction  they constructed inconveniencing one local Mr. Anthony J. D’Souza who has been fighting this battle against the above mentioned non-Goan big  hotelier.

As per the Goa Panchayat Raj Act, 1994 if within the stipulated period, after passing the Resolution No. 10(35) in the monthly meeting on 06.09.2017 to demolish the illegal structure, is not carried out then the local Panchayat has to carry out the demolition work.  But surprisingly, Candolim Panchayat under the Hamletic influence  is still silent whereas in the same locality for such structures demolition decisions are carried out with sprinting speed against the small and poor Goans.

According to many locals the Candolim Panchayat  is playing the game of delay because they must have been bribed with lakhs or crores. And is it difficult to admit this statement?  Are our Panchayats not bribe prone IN GOA? Are our Sarpanches and Ward members not purchasable commodities? And especially the Catholics, mainly the naturalized Goans? Or else how they built their business empires such as Hotels, Restaurants  and Bungalows? In my locality some of the elected members who were earlier totally bankrupt after getting elected they are become “lakhpotis”.  How and from where they amassed such a hefty wealth without doing any productive job?  Is it not thru the bribe money they have extorted from the locals in exchange of the Panchayat services they rendered?

In conclusion, this incident will set a bad example to defy the Panchayat  to demolish the illegal construction on the Roof-Top of Block Q as mentioned above. As per the Goa Panchayat Raj Act 1994 and also as per Honourable High Court Order, this will amount to remiss of  duty by the village Sarpanch for which he could be disqualified from the post.

Also Block “Q” which constructed by M/s R. & H. Spaces Pvt. Ltd., is close to the residential house of Mr. Anthony J. D’souza obstructing air, light etc. and thereby violating the provision of Indian “Easements” Act 1882.

GOLDEN WEDDING JUBILEE OF EX KUWAIT GOAN MR. & MRS. CHARLES CARLITO REGO,

Tomorrow, 24^th of this month, my friend and colleague on foot-ball field, Charles Carlito Rego and his wife for the last fifty years, Clementina Rego celebrate their 50^th Wedding Anniversay.  On this most auspicious occasion, I wish the Golden Jubilee couple, along with all my like minded friends and colleagues choicest Heavenly Blessings. 

    

They both got married in Bombay Bandra on 24^th February 50 years back and blessed with three golden roses namely Santana, Cynthia and Shirley while Santana who is working in Kuwait is already married with Frank D'cruz and having young son named Elijah while the other two daughters namely Shirley and Cynthia being single are working in Mombai.

Charles worked in Kuwait for over three decades at the prestigious organization British Council where he earned good name and fame, so much so, Prince Charles knows him personally well.  During his visits to Kuwait, Prince Charles always meets him and enquires about Goa asking “how is your Goa?” While in Kuwait he took active part in the foot-ball activities Goans have conducted at Sour Grounds and during the early stages of this soccer, he dished  out a super soccer by playing as magnificent  midfield maestro.  Besdes soccer he also played Hockey for Goans in Ahmadi and here too he gained a lot of fame for him but in soccer at Sour Grounds he was exceptionally artistic midfielder.

Before coming to Kuwait in 1977, he worked in Bombay for Mahindra & Mahindra  and also played for its foot-ball team and from  where he was selected for Maharastra State Team.  Also he was selected for Mahrastra  State in Hockey. Such honour of representing the State in two disciplines is great and Charles acquired this greatness. Besides, he also played hockey for the great Goan outfit Lusitanians in hockey.

He was also a great social worker, lover of Konkani and Tiatro and a very good composer of Konkani songs and a close relative of the legendary Tiatist Minguel Rod. He helped some organizations in Kuwait by sponsoring the visiting Tiatrists. Even in many of the activities for the cause of Goa and Goans he always supported these causes. Though he lived his earlier life in Bombay yet his love for Goa is supreme where he is settled now at Assagao, Bardez, Goa.

Again Charles, I wish you both a very happy 50^th Wedding Anniversary.  May God bless you both and so too your children and other family members.

NEW TIATRO "XIM" BY OLGA.

On 18^th of this month, on Sunday at 10.30 AM, I saw the new Tatro ‘XIM” written and directed by the Queen of Political Songs, Bai Olga who is having an unique record of being the first female Tiarist in the history of Tiatro to sing such powerful and piercing political songs against the dirty and corrupt politicians.

Because of the strong message she delivers in her songs, she is become the darling of the audience, not only among Goans in Goa but  also all over the Goan world. She is not only attracting the attention of the audience thru her beautiful looks but more thru the powerful contents of her songs which she delivers with all her dislikes and hatred for the corrupt practices of the politicians.  The messages she and other political Tiatrists convey thru their songs are rightly and directly reaching to the ears of corrupt politicians who are afraid only of Tiatrists.

After undergoing her internship in Tiatro by doing different roles and singing her political solos, she is now graduated on Konkani Stage  as script writer and director in which capacity she staged her first Tiatro “XIM” which was so successful and so well staged and well organized giving a touch of top professional director though this was her first Tiatro.  The future for her is bright in this capacity. The Houseful attendees attended this Tiatro speak volumes of this Tiatro. Since it is going to be staged everywhere in Goa and abroad, I desist to disclose the full story of this Tiatro.

The Tiatro XIM started at 10.35 with a beautiful opening solo by a young boy Jason who sang it very beautifully. The story is surrounded on a young man a drunkard who spoils the whole peace in the family, this role is beautifully played by Anil Pednecar thereby proving how perfectionist is he when performing his given roles. However the musical feeling played during the play was a bit louder, that has to be volumed a bit low. 

COMEDIAN Prince Jacob

The role of a father of Anil was excellently played by Alexinho de Morjim, he proved how best and top he is in doing such roles so perfectly and so well while opposite to him as his wife Lorna de Morjim played an excellent role, of course as usual and as their young grand son the role played by Frenwiech was fantastic. At this so young age this youngster showing so much of intelligence in doing his role so intelligently means something. Young BAB  LIPO in 1957 displayed similar smartness in DOIA Tiatro of Aristedes Dias.  The role played by Jenice as an obedient daughter-in-law was equally wonderful.  The whole tiatro is surrounded around them and they all did justice to their performances thereby raising the level of this tiatro very high.

The fabulous comedy performed by all the 4 fabulous comedians namely Prince Jacob, John de Silva, Luis Bac’chan and Humbert was excellent. It was a feast of comedy where all the four ace comedians did their best to quench the thirst of the audience. However, if a female comedian was inducted in the comedy it would be still better.

The Side Show songs were terrific in which both the political solos of writer and director of this Tiatro Bai Olga were excellent, so also of Saby de Divar and the political trio rendered by Anil Pednecar-Bai Olga – Saby de Divar was the best among all the political songs rendered in this Tiatro. Anil Pednecar’s solo on the miracle happened in his life and thru which he was saved from sure death was meaningful.

The solo rendered by Rosario de Benaulim on richness of God was nice so also the duet on Blind by Saby de Divar and Olga. And the duet rendered both by Lorna de Morjim and her husband Alexiho de Morjim was very good. The comedy solo rendered by young boy Frauwies was excellent so also the trio by Prince Jacob-Humbert –Anil Pednecar was worth listening.

EX KUWAIT GOAN ROYAL AGNELO CELEBRATED HIS 50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY.

Yesterday, 18^th of this month, at Dona Paula Bay 15, one of the most prominent ex Kuwait Goan Agnelo Fernandes from Agacaim and popularly known as Royal Agnelo and his wife celeberated their Wedding Golden Jubilee with a well organized function well attended by his relatives, collegues, friends, acquaintances and  well wishers.  It was a grand function organized with grandeur befitting  the hosts.

Royal Agnelo and me we built our contacts with each other about 40 years back  during our soccer activities at Sour Grounds in Kuwait. He was a part of their Club as president formed by the members of Agacaim.  Then after a few years he formed his own team known as ROYAL which was wholly and fully supported and financed by him only, this team for years created a sensation in Kuwait as it contained some of the best Goan players and it won many of the trophies and Chamionships.  In fact the soccer team Royal then was name and fame in Kuwait.

He was not only a sports in general and soccer in particular fanatic but also engaged himself in many other activities in the promotion of Goan causes. One of the major causes he supported was helping the poor Goans and getting the jobs and financial aids.  The other major cause he supported was the Konkani movement and  the promotion of Tiatro in Kuwait either directly bringing the troupes from Goa or by helping others in sponsoring the Air Tickets for some of the visiting Tiatrists.  In one word, he was always supportive of any activity done from Kuwait for the cause of Goa.  Very few people enjoyed his support in Kuwait as this writer has enjoyed  for the  causes of Goa and Goans.  He was very generous for helping  the Goan causes since his love for Goa and Goans is extreme.

By profession he is an Engineer and in Kuwait he  was employed in a very lucrative organization that sent him to USA for further training. He brought name and fame for Goans by holding the prestigious post in his organization.  Besides, he also engaged himself in his private business activities.

Goans like him were very few in Kuwait, ispite of moving up in life he still remained a humble and simple man. His financial power and position in the community never made him proud as it happened to  many of our Goans who with little educational  background and coming from hoi-polloi background act as Maharajas.  This is where the greatness lies of Royal Agnelo as we called him in Kuwait.

THE LATE FOOT-BALLER CANDU ABREU.

It is with deep regret and chagrin I got the news of the death of the ex-Goan foot-baller George Candido Abreu popularly  known as Candu Abreu.  He was during his golden  days when playing for Salgaocar Soprts club was one of the best defenders of Goa manning the half line.  It was somewhere in 1958 at Mapusa Duler ground when I saw him playing for Salgaocars against the visiting Bombay Goans team consisting  of some of the top Goan foot-ballers from Bombay, one of them was Olympian Neville D’Souza.  Candu was given the task of marking tightly the Goan genius Neville D’Suza but in the beginning itself Neville D’Souza tough not on his peak form, dribbled the ball  past to Candu Abreu  and from outside the box released such a powerful left footer that Pompei under the Salgaocar’s bar had no chance to save. This was the only brilliance our Olympian Neville D’souza exhibited otherwise for rest of the game Candu Abreu  in his normal self never again allowed  Neville D’souza to move with the ball freely.  Later on when somebody asked Neville,  “how you were shadowed”, replied Neville saying ‘even in the Olympics I was not marked as tightly as by Candu Abreu.

Earlier I saw him at Nerul Foot-ball ground playing for his Village team Taligao in the inter-village tournament where he was shining like a gold on the foot-ball ground.  During  those days best  of inter-village soccer in Bardez was played at Arpora and Nerul  where again Candu Abreu showed  his genius.  In the aerial duels he would out beat any opponent with the advantage of his height and he possessed very good ball-control.  His cool temparement  was his greatest asset.  When I started my career for Sesa Goa as a schoolboy, he was at his receding  end but I played against  him many  times.  It was just a thrill to play against him.

BANDODCAR - DR. J. SEQUEIRA & MONUMENTS.

This is in reference to the war now going on with regards to erecting of Monuments by the Goa government like that of Dayananda Bandodcar who was  the first Chief Minister of Goa. First of all it was wrong to admit that Bandodcar was the leader of masses in Goa.  To say correctly, Bandodcar was an unknown entity before entering into politics thru the back door. Because of his deslike for Goan Christians he jumped into the Maharastrawadi Gomantak Party to punish Goan Christians by merging Goa with Maharastra and thru it to diminish the influence of Goan Christians in Goa and making their life hard thru the Marathi language which Goan Christians will find it difficult to imbibe. Revenge against Christians was his ambition. 

It is a hard fact that he worked hard for the victory of MGP in the first election in Goa but likewise others too did, may be a bit less but surely he was not the most popular man of  the masses in the initial stages.  Because he was not so popular I think he was not given the ticket to contest the first election. But unfortunately  for the Goa lover Goans he was brought into Goan politics thru the back door and Chief Ministership of Goa was imposed on him when he was not even the elected member of Goa Legislative Assembly but within the stipulated time limit he got elected from Maddkai constituency from where the elected MLA resigned to make a way for Bandodcar.

The race for erecting of Monuments is gaining political and communal turn where the monument for Dr. Jack de Sequeira is become the focal point of debate.  As per my information, when it became known, just before the official declaration of the victory of Two Leaves – the symbol of anti-mergerists – that anti-mergerists will surely win, some people from Campal the neighbours of Dr. Sequeira joined together and along with Dr. Sequeira took a procession like a victory march hailing Dr. Sequeira as the father of Opinion Poll.

Dr.Sequeira was the leader of United Goans Party which was the major constituent of the anti-mergerist group comprising others too  including Congress Party whose following was miniscule compared to that of UGP.  Though there was not a single official leader heading the anti-mergerists yet Dr.Sequeira was considered as one such and other parties and groups and even independent leaders gave their allegiance to Dr. Sequeira since he was the most charismatic leader among all in the anti-mergerists group.  It was Dr. Sequeira’s oratory of Himalayan magnitude that attracted the people towards anti-mergerists who in big number voted for 2 Leaves and because of this development the 2 strong citadels of MGP namely Siolim and Mapusa were captured by the anti-mergerists.  It was a huge defeat for the mergerists under the leadership of D. Bandodcar.  I attended some meetings of the anti-mergerists in Siolim, Mapusa and other constituencies in the North where I saw how even in the darkness after 7.00 pm the attendees used to wait for the speech of Dr. Sequeira who being the great crowd puller was always spoke the last.  This was done also in the South and all over Goa.

It is very hurting that since the invasion of Goa by Bharat the contribution of Goan Chritians is downgraded to such an extent that they are even called as anti-national, pro-Portugues and beneficiaries of Portugues rule in Goa.  In what way they are pro-Portugues? The first great revolt against the Portuguese rule in Goa was done by the Goan Christians who were the Catholic priests known as Pintos from Pintos Vaddo in Candolim and this revolt is called Pintos Revolution.

In what way the Goan Christians are anti-national? The first person who raised the voice for the liberation not only for Goa but also for the entire India and that too from the soil of our colonialists was none other than our Goan Pparliamentarian in Portguese Parliament Dr. Francis Luis Gomes from Navelim much before the birth of Nehrus and Ghandis. Cardinal Gracias from Bombay worked so hard to see the end of Portuguese rule in Goa and even Nehru hailed him as great patriot.

In what way the Goan Christians were the beneficiaries of Portugues rule in Goa?  The entire Commerce of Goa was in the hands of Hindus namely like Chowogules, Salgaokars, Dempes, Bandekars, Bandodcars, Caculos and others.  Where were Christians then? Nowhere seen among those named above.

By erecting the Monument of Dr. Sequeira it will not lead him to Heaven but by rejecting his monument we are only indicating our dislike for Christians by simply downgrading his monumental contribution for the victory of Opinion Poll.  Not a single individual leader worked so hard as he did for the victory of 2 leaves among the leaders in the anti-mergerists camp. He was the only leader in that camp that wielded more influence than any other leader.  He was the only leader then having strong base all over Goa and who was also known all over Goa.  Thoso who belittle his tremendous contribution are jealous of him.

Those who are shouting at the top of their voices against the erection of Dr. Seequeira’s monument, they must in equal ferocity declare that it was also wrong to build the monument of Bandodcar because he was a traitor of Goa interested in selling Goa and Goa’s interests to Maharastra. A true Goan will always hate D. Bandodcar for his decision to dole Goa to Maharastra. He was the greatest enemy of Goa and true Goans.

THE HUMBLE AND SIMPLE PE. CHICO MONTEIRO.

On 1^st of this month I attended the function at Lar dos Estudantes, Panjim to mark the birth centenary of the late Pe. Chico Monteiro which was addressed by the prominent Goans who all highlighted the simplicity and humility of Pe. Chico. During this function a special book has been released titled “PADRE CHICO To The Manner born” which is edited by Oscar de Noronha. All the articles written in this book by different writers including by me are worth reading.

 

In the context of Pe. Chio’s simplicity and humility, let me quote one incident where Pe. Chico raised  to the pedestal the ordinary Grave Digger from Candolim.  He was known just as Bengalo in the village but  as a fanatic soccer lover he was with great distinction organizing inter-ward foot-ball tournaments  in the village by borrowing money from here and there to purchase the trophies while refereeing was done by him only as he was well versed in soccer rules. During those days, even the Portuguese Pakles from Aguada used to admire him and his love for soccer. Though because of his low level profession some villagers used to criticize him but Pe. Chico was always supporting him.

When he died in 1977, also with the push of Pe. Chico, his funeral procession was taken to the Candolim foot-ball ground where his coffin was kept there for some time with due respect to his love for soccer promotion.

Then in the Cemetry, when his coffin was lowered into the grave, Pe. Chico spoke thus;

“Aiz amche modlo ek vhodd munis somplo zo ek vhodd vavr kortalo footballa vorvim mhonnchem to sabar lokancho ekvott kortalo, lokank eka meka sovem laguim haddtalo foot-ball tournament korun.  Sado munis to khoro pun chodd vhodd vavr to kortalo amche modem ekvott ghoddun. Oslea munxeanchi amkam aiz chodd goroz”.

Bengalo the grave digger of Candolim got  due recognition only because of Pe. Chico who because of his simplicity and humility raised to the pedestal the simple and humble Grave Digger Bengalo.

On 2^nd of this month before the starting of the Tiatro at the Mandd, the prize distribution ceremony was held where thru  one of the senior most members of the Mandd Mr. Cheddo the prizes for the students of Pintos – Araddy were distributed. These prizes were given to these students for their excellence in their studies during the preceding scholastic year.

CANDOLIM "MANDD" FEST & TIATRO.

CANDOLIM MAND FEST.         

                 

In Candolim at Pintos vaddo where the great Aade Faria the world renown hypnotist was born and also the home of Pintos  revolution, there is a Mandd knwn as Holy Cross Mandd where  innumerable miracles takes place. Every Sunday huge crowd gathers there in the mornings to pray. On 2^nd of February every year on the feast day of “Condoi Saibinn” in the Asilo Chapel opposite to Mandd, they organize a tiatro there with lot of enthusiasm where people gather in the big number. 

This time tiatro “Aadhaar Card” by comedian Domnick was held. Before the start of the tiatro, as per tradition two groups of musicians comprising traditional instruments such as Gumott, Madyem and Kansaem come to the Stage in a big procession, one group comes from next to my house Araddy starting point is in front of the house of llgendary old timer tiatrist Effie Fernandes. Both these groups converge a few metres from Mandd and then enter the Stage and play their music for about 30 minutes. Then the elderly Mandd member conducts the prayer for a about 10 mintes  and then the tiatro starts.
