In Candolim, the like
minded locals under the convenorship of Roshan Mathias got together and formed
an organisaton called “CANDOLIM AGAINST PDA” to awaken the locals what are the
ill effects of PDA and ODP. The organization
consists of Adolfina Thamm as President, two Vice Presidents namely Tukaram
Naik and Agnelo Barreto, Secretary: Ms Regina,
Jt. Sec: Lucy Mathias; Treasurer: William Noronha, Jt. Treas: Anthony D’Souza. This
is the core committee to run the affairs of this organization and to educate
the locals the disastrous effect of PDA and ODP even though those politicians
who stand to make millions if PDA and ODP is approved, with their mellifluent tongues will give a rosy picture of PDA and ODP.
People should not listen to these cheap politicians. If we do not reject
their plans then they will in collaboration with the builders and non-Goan
millionaires convert our fields and other areas into Concrete Jungles with tall
buildings, demolish our houses to build new roads which will be very
broad. They will create a situation to
uproot “NIZACHE GOYKARS” FROM their ancestral places and bring in there all the
Ghanttis and turn “amchem bhangarachem Goem” into Ghanttianchem Goem”.
Today a memorandum has
been submitted to the Town and Country Planning Minister by this association
as shown here. Besides, an Awareness Programme is scheduled on 9th as indicated here. All those who want
to protect the greatness and beauty of Goa, they must attend this programme.
