TIME FOR VILLAGE BASED GOAN ASSOCIATIONS TO ACT NOW.

On 24th of this month in goa-kranti we read the report of the Mega Event held in Kuwait and organised by AVC Kuwait. From the photos published along with the report give us an impression that attendance wise the event was most successful so also in all other aspects, the attendees came not only from AVC citizens working in Kuwait but also from elsewhere. Kudos to organisers AVC for organising such a Mega event in Kuwait.

AVC is a group of 3 villages, namely Assolna – Velim – Cuncolim. These villages are very prominent since a long time now and the citizens of these 3 villages are very energetic and dynamic. They love Goa and Goan causes. To create such an awakening of their existence and activities in a place like Kuwait is not a joke. It all shows that AVC Kuwait is manned by strong persons.

Today what we see in Goa is deGoanisation process going on in full scale. Our land and properties are rampantly purchased by non-Goans. Inspite of having lot of wealth in our hands still we cannot discard the temptation of selling our land, properties and houses to the bales of Notes showered by much richer customers coming to Goa from Maharastra, Delhi and other places in India. Our weakness for the craze for easy money is totally exposed to Non-Goans who want to purchase Goa by purchasing our land. Non-Goans are using their money power exactly the way the Jews from Diaspora used to purchase land and properties of the Palestinian Arabs in Palestine during those days and finally making the original Palestinians as slaves of Jews in their own land.

The Non-Goans will gradually purchase our Goa fully of course with the backing of our politicians whose greed for money and more money is beyond my understanding. We Goa settled Goans gradually will turn into slaves of Non-Goans in our own land. We may not be able to completely eradicate this menace of Non-Goans settling down in Goa and initiating their entrepreneurial activities but surely we can minimise their hold on us by buying our own properties and starting our own businesses by ourselves.

We in Kuwait itself we have so many village based associations like AVC. I am sure in its register AVC must be having at least 50 members. Their unity is very strong and so too their love for Goa. From my experience point of view, Saxtikars have shown more love for Goa as their patriotism towards Goa and Goan causes is much higher. The AVC – Kuwait should join their hands together and collect money from every AVC member and purchase land and properties in AVC Goa. Even barren land they should purchase and thereby retain their land in their own hands. If possible, they should form an official company like Public Limited Company and float shares for their villagers and construct Hotels and other small ventures in AVC just like we did in Calangute under Gulf Goans Hotels Company in 1979. Land has no elasticity, it is fixed. If outsiders purchase our available land, time will come our future generation will have nothing. With individuals we will not be able to penetrate in this sector but jointly by pulling our financial resources we can do so much. AVC I feel is capable of giving a lead to other such village based associations to purchase land from their vilages and start commercial ventures in Goa. It is better to embark on such activities while you are employed in Kuwait because money flow will remain uninterrupted.

While suggesting AVC to go ahead I also suggest to other Goan Associations based not only in Kuwait but also in other places and countries in the world. We have many such associations in the World where Goans are settled but they are sometimes seen doing only charitable activities in Goa. While doing charitable work they must also think of protecting Goa by holding Goan land in their hands.
