Husband of Magdalena Rego, Father/Father in law of Shirley/Sydney, Abraham/Charmeline, Loving Grandfather of Shayne expired at Sabah Hospital - Kuwait on 27th April '08

There will be a Requiem Mass for the soul of departed Joseph (Joe) Rego at St.Therese Church,( Hall )Salmiya offered by his sorrowful family on Thursday May 1st, 2008 at 7.30 p.m.

Preparations are being made for the remains of Joe to be flown to Goa for final rites.

New Book "Niyallunk" to be released in Goa.

‘Niyallunk’ a collection of couplets and poems in konknni by konknni writer Daniel F. de Souza in Roman and Devnagri scripts will be released on 1st May 2008 at Hotel La Paz Gardens, Vasco da Gama at the hands of the Chief Guest Shri Jose Philip D’Souza Hon’ble Minister for Revenue & Civil Supplies.

Shri Elvis Gomes, Director for Tourism, Government of Goa will be the Guest of Honour at the book release function.

Shri Cosma Fernandes, Lecturer in Konknni, at the M.E.S. College Zuarinagar, Vasco will speak on the book.

The book contains 25 poems on different topics on Goa and Goans, love, environment, language etc besides around 70 couplets which emphasize on various aspects of human life and the society at large.

Tomazinho Cardozo, noted Konknni writer, columnist and playwright has written the Foreword for the book.

The book is published by Talia Prokaxon and printed at the Sahyadri Offset Systems, Corlim, Ilhas, Goa.

It is pertinent to note that Daniel F. de Souza a well known Konknni Writer and bi-lingual journalist and columnist was the recipient of the prestigious Konknni Martir Floriano Vaz Puroskar 2007 instituted by the Thomas Stephens Konknni Kendr Porvorim for his first book in Roman Konknni entitled ‘Koslich Malis Nastana’ published in March 2007.
