This is in reference to
the coming Zilla Parishad election and the moves by the interested persons and
political parties to get their candidates elected. According to my limited
knowledge, the Zilla Parishad is powerless in exercising its power on anything
concretely and yet there is so much of clamouring on the part of the candidates
to get elected. Is it a prestigious
issue to be a member of powerless Zilla Parishad?
In my Calangute constituency
as per the available report, selection of the candidates has been
finalized. One of them is by BJP the
party that is vomiting its venom on minorities in general and Christians in
particular. It is a time now for overwhelming majority of Calangute
constituents belonging to minority community to question the BJP why it is
letting loose its hatred towards Christians when Christians in the last election
have already indicated their affiliation to BJP. If the same momentum is maintained in favour
of BJP in the coming ZP election as it was done last time, then I am sure BJP will double its fury
against Christians to show its originality of ingratitude. This has to be
stopped by curtailing the march of BJP any further for BJP to put an end to its
anti-Christian march. The salvo should
be fired for this ZP election against BJP to send an advance warning to BJP to
take care of its prospects in 2017. I can now only make my own prophecy and rightly predict that 2012 will never be repeated for BJP anymore. For BJP, 2012 is R.I.P.
Congress as reported in
the media is contesting this ZP election thru remote control by fielding a
lightweight entity in the constituency, he must tell the constituents why they
should vote for him and what was his contribution in the development of the constituency,
leave aside his village. Though he is backed by his local Panchayat yet he must
know that his Congress led Panchayat has made mess of his village because of
this his local Congress boss was defeated in the last 2012 election. His Panchayat
team headed by the local leader is now going around in his village begging for
votes for their candidate. Voters are
asking a question to the candidate: “Are you going to be revengeful and
vindictive just as your boss and Congress leader, if you are elected?”
The third candidate is
backed by Calangute Panchayat. Now my
question to all of them: What will they do once elected in their constituency
and how? What is their manifestoes and power to proceed further? Who
are their financiers and how will they recover the money they spend for their
elections? What is their advice to the voters who will refuse to go to the
voting Booths thinking that it is useless to vote for them because ZP is a
powerless impotent body.
