FROM THIS SEASON THE TIATROS THAT I SAW, the Tiatro Sonvsar Ghunvta by Oga Vaz I found it very good storywise, comedywise and Side Show wise where all the artistes performed their roles very well. The Tiatro started exactly on time at 7.30 PM on 9^th of this month at Panjim Kala Academy Hall where the Hall was partly filled up with the audience who enjoyed it nicely.

The story is based on one family where because of greed for money the daughter and her husband bring disaster on her father and mother only to own the wealth of the father and mother. As a crook son-in-law, Anil  Pednekar played his role appropriately and as his mother in law seasoned artiste Roma did her role well and as her husband Tari played his role very good while attractive Jolita played her role very well as the wife of Anil.

The comedy  was vey well handled by the ace comemdians Humbert and acrobatic Nato supported by Caetano.  They have created a havoc of laughter in the Hall, especially Humbert was at his best.

All the Side Show songs were good but especial mention must be made for both the solos of Benny de Aldona, Duet of Ron with Jolita, Both the political songs of Olga Vaz and her trio with Anil and Benny de Aldona who brought an extra colour to this song. However, among all the songs that i heard, the song rendered by Amresh Kamat imitating the voices of some Tiatrists and also of Politicians was extremely well. performed.  My salute to you Amresh Kamat.  Keep up the good work you do from the Konkani Stage.

ZOMNIVOILE KHELL" CONTEST. "KEDNANCH CHUKNA" ONE OF THE BEST KHELLS

ZOMNIVOILO FELL.

During  the Carnival period, the Tiatro Academy of Goa in collaboration with Kala Academy, Goa, annually organizes the "Zomnivoile Khell" contest to promote the traditional Khell (Fell). The timing selected during the Carnival time is to get easy availability of the groups of these Fells since they organize their Fells during the Carnival mainly in Salcette.

This year in total 6 groups participated in this contest which lasted for 3 days from which 3 groups were selected for the prizes from 1^st to the third and these prizes were declared immediately after the last Fell “KEDNANCH CHUKHNA of JoseIvonStancio  production, two days back..

Watching this show of about an hour in the Open air venue of Kala Academy Panjim where after attending these shows some people even fell sick due to the foul weather condition, some of the members of the audience were suffering from the cold and sneezing because there was noting over their heads.  The organisers in future must do something to cover the area over the heads of the audience.  The Tiatro Academy is getting a good amount of grant in the form of money to the tune of crores of rupees that many of the tax payers are not aware. In view of this it will be better for the TAG to openly declare how much they get and how they spend it, it is spent correctly or recklessly?  Why not spend something from this grant and erect shades temporarily by the TAG over the heads of the participants and audience? If this is done then it will be better for all the people concerned.  The performance of Jose who played the character role of a “Lolo” type of a person was very appropriate so too the role of his young school going son Stancio and of course that of his  wife Ivon was excellent. In fact Ivon has blossomed into a fine comedian and her singing was also very good.  The others who played their  roles well were Flexky, Snella, Comedian Oswin and Inacio as his father.

The songs introduced in this Khell were very good and they looked and sounded like the songs introduced in the traditional Fells.  The thrill in this Fells come from the musical score provided by  the musicians and the way of Salcette Konkani used by the artistes and performers.
