Referring to the forthcoming exotic Sunburn event that is pushed on our great and clean
cultural and traditional attributes by
all the bloody idiots including those power wielding politicians who are of
such a nature that they are even ready to sell their wives to the organisers of
this event which will be held in
Anjuna the holy place that gave birth to that holy and Saintly figure Pe.
Agnelo D’Souza and luckily for the opponents of this event including must be
the Pe. Agnelo from Heaven, the court opposed it. Though the organisers are showering with all the
promises yet the High court of Goa
passed its scriptures against it. For those who are giving assurances that it
will be free of vulgarity and sinful acts, I indicate here what I witnessed
earlier when this event was held in Candolim.
At Murod Vaddo Candolim, opposite to the Church, on the field at about
8.30 PM while I was riding my scooter to go Home from Sinquerim, I saw about 4
couples totally nude enjoying sex on the field touching the road and screaming giving
an impression that they were on the peak
of orgasm. And the way they were using
foul language one could notice they were under heavy Drugs. And yet they were
asking the passers by if they have drugs for sale. Surprisingly 2-3 pimps and drug peddlers were
doing good business besides 2 Policemen whom when I pointed this tamasha, they
told me politely “Patrao hem tukam kiteak poddlam, tum voch voitai tuim, ami
polloun ghetelet them”. The distance from the place the event was organized to
this place at Murod was one kilometer approximately.

ON MICHAEL LOBO'S OUTBURST "ON GOANS HOLDING PORTUGUESE PASSPORTS".
This is is in response to the recent interview in Prudent Media Channel, of Michael Lobo, the Calangute Constituency representative, on “Brexit will affect Goans”, I fully disagree with his statement saying that the way we hate “bhaile” in Goa so also outsiders settled in UK are also hated. Here I point out when Michael Lobo says that “the way WE (including Michael Lobo) hate outsiders ” ……. It is NOT correct for Michael Lobo to include himself also in the bracket of those Goans who hate the “bhaile” because Michael Lobo who as known is the strong supporter of “bhaile” and not the hater, the proof of it can be obtained from my neighbourhood at Araddy Vaddo, Candolim, where there is a niche created as a residential place for them with the help of the 2 former defeated Congress candidates and it is called “Ghanttianchi Araddy” which is the strong citadel of these “Bhaile”.
Then Michael Lobo said “he is very happy because of Brexit outsiders (including Goans}, in UK will be opposed”. I object to this statement full of arrogance and pride normally associated with those who acquired unimaginable wealth within unimaginable shortest time, thru fair or unfair means.
Then Michael Lobo went on saying that he would prefer the Goans to go there as other Goans are going to the Gulf countries without surrendering their Indian citizenship which is with regards to Goans I must say that the Indian Citizenship was imposed on Goans by the “Bharat Serkar” immediately following the invasion of Goa, by the Bahrat Serkar of Nehru, without the consent of the local Goans and by discarding the principle of NON VIOLENCE” as propounded by Gandhiji. In fact Ghandiji opposed the use of violence and Military force to annex Goa but discarding this principle of Non Viooence, Nehru sent about 20 thousands of Indian soldiers to invade Goa and they not only invaded Goa without any resistance from the approximately 5000 Portuguese Troop stationed in Goa among whom a few were Goans but some of these Indian soldiers have so disgracefully molested and raped our females even by dropping a bomb on one of the victim's houses to satisfy his lust, somewhere in Cortalim, as it was given to understand during that time.
Moreover some of these very same soldiers robbed our Goan Shops in the cities as it was robbed at Mapusa Market Shops owned by all our Hindu brothers “Negociantes” who were just a few days back welcoming the invaders with the slogan of Jai Hind but now started hating their new masters who robbed them of their goods mainly the electronics such as Radio Sets, Sun Glasses, Watches, Pens and other valuables of foreign make, such items even their grand fathers have not seen.
One of the Shopkeepers said in anger at that time, “he dolldire Bharati soldiers itle volkott mhon aum zanna re? He atam ghaltelet amchem padd. Amchem adlench Portuguezanchem raj borem aslem. Anvem tankam welcome dilem Jai Hind and Jai Bharat toxench mhonnon Nehru Zindabad and Salazar Murdabad ti moji ek vhodd chuck zali. Makam dista atam porot mhonnonk Viva Portugal ani Zalazar Zindabad”.
Then to refute Lobo’s other statement when he said these Goans instead should go to the UK the way Gulf Goans are going to the Gulf. Lobo must know that the situation to go to the Gulf countries is totally different from the UK because in the Gulf you can even get a Visa for any category by paying money in the Black Market run by the locals only. You can obtain it as NOC as anything professionally and once you reach to the Gulf you need not work as per the indicated profession in your Passport. Besides many of the Goans dont like Indian citizenship for this reason Salazar following the invasion of Goa by Bharat said “these Indians will treat MY Goans irrespective of their religions, like third class people and the Indians will create hurdles on their way even to get the jobs for the Goans to live a decent life in Goa because Indians will prefer outsiders from outside Goa to replace Goans thus converting the genuine Goans as unwanted in their own land”. Very prophetic words of Salazar seen coming to reality.
Regarding Lobo, he would have been the first person to sprint to the Portuguese Consulate in Panjim to get him the Portuguese Passport if he was not successful in politics, he tells all these stories now because his stars helped him to come up in life. When one talks pride and it reaches to the peak then one falls speedily because “ghorvak ani sorgak bhett na mhonn”. Only the hungry person knows the depth of hunger and to overcome it he goes anywhere to gain his livelihood without even caring for his nationality. If his nation and Ministers are interested in him then they should provide him the necessary job otherwise they should shut their mouths.
It would be admiring gesture if Michael Lobo had to work for getting the benefit of Dual Citizenship or something closer to that so that the mobility of those poor Goans who want to go to EU countries and UK thru Portuguese Passports will have easy access to go there without losing their Indian citizenship.
Michael Lobo since elevated to the Ministership is talking like an omnipotent on anything and everything and tomorrow if he is elevated to be the CM (which is impossible unless he is converted to Hinduism), I don’t know what will be his role. By nature he is smart and because it is so he is become a source of jealousy for some in his Constituency who are trying to dethrone him and in this campaign there are a few of his own circle. However, it must be known that the people like him as MLA’s and Ministers came so many and gone also so many and finally disappeared into wilderness so many, some of them were gigantic who are now become like Cockroaches because without political power these politicians including Michael Lobo) are like fish out water. Because of their pride they came down crashing. He should only see the pitiable plight of both of his predecessors, knocked out of power thru piercing defeats at the hands of those very same voters who brought them to power earlier and who finally voted them out. Both of them are become like unknown in their own locality now. Why this humiliation to both of them? Is it a God’s punishment? Because they were acting as Lords in front of their own people? They never thought to be humble and disciplined because these attributes were not thought to them. They thought power will remain with them eternally and with this in mind they were acting and behaving with their own people like they were creatures from outer planet.
Hi Mike, I don’t want your fate to become like that of your predecessors for this reason I caution you not because I dislike you but only because you are otherwise a kind hearted person having a soft corner for the poor because you were once upon a time a poor, as you disclosed openly during a public meeting in Candolim. "Ami sounsarant zaite pavtt fattim urleat kiteak amkam sarkem “guidance” mellonk na mhonn"
.
Then here too I disagree with Lobo when he said "we must instead of doing Portuguese Passports and take the road to UK, we must do some business. Here I disagree with him because the system of starting and doing the business in Goa is not conducive to every Goan especially to those who opt for the UK on Portuguese Passports. As a Minister what Michael Lobo has done to create facilities for Goan youth to start the business in Goa leave aside to get employment? Mike it is easy to sermonize like Roman Catholic Priests from the Altar, because you are a “Montri” now and precisely because of this people give you a little hearing otherwise they will say "To Hell with you" and reject your sermons. What is your capacity to provide jobs for the locals? Do you have blue print prepared for this? On the eve of your last election you came to our houses for our votes but after that you disappeared and evaporated like Ether but you will resurface again on the eve of your next election which will be held after some more months.
Finally, we have now a new group of Goans known as “REVOLUTIONARY GOANS” that promised to give their maximum support to those Goans who are at the mercy of Ghanttis. Recently at Sinquerim in Candolim one well built Ghantti who is running a Shop, hit so badly one of our local young Goans with a “Dandda” that our Goan brother finally landed in GMC with the broken shoulder bone and from there he was discharged after a week. Surprisingly, not a single leader or prominent figure from Candolim raised his voice and condemned this incident of “dadagiri”, not even the former people’s representatives nor the present. All are maintaining their silence as if “Makam kitek poddlam?”. There is not a single leader in my locality and Constituency to think serious of this case?
In view of this, I request the Revolutionnary Goans to take up this matter very seriously and go to his Shop and demand explanation from him why he hit our Goan brother. If today the Ghanttee is allowed to go Scot free, tomorrow he and others of his like will take more advantages of our silence. In no way we can sleep over this incident.

GREG DE CANDOLIM A SUCCESSFUL GOAN CHRISTIAN BUSINESSMAN.
This is once again to
prove wrong all those Padris and the so called intelligent people of Goa who
tell that Christians are not meant to do the business because according to
their opinion in doing business and acquiring success one has to be a robber
and also one must be in regular contact with the “Ghaddi” who is the proper
guide since Christian doctrine does not permit you neither to rob nor to go to
Ghaddi.
The owner of his business Greg de Candolim & his dynamic wife Mary
First of all if anybody thinks Christians are not going to
consult the Ghaddis then they are sadly mistaken because most of the customers
of the Ghaddis are Christians many of whom are become the slaves of Ghaddis and
being so they don’t care nor feel afraid to consult Ghaddis who is like a living talking God for them and being so they don’t care nor
feel shy. They are not only the laymen Christians but among them are some Padris too who visit them in their normal dress like
Jean Pant and T-Shirt. The power of Ghaddis is become so strong as given to understand in the last general election for Legislative Assembly some candidates even hired and brought to Goa some Ghaddis to tell them their outcome of their contest and accordingly advise them One of the Roman Catholic candidates even told some that he acquires the services of Ghaddi brought brought from outside Goa because he has not trust in our God and Jersus Christ because they are not talking God who do not tell you on your face whst will be the result of your contest. This shows how important is the need of talking God
Now, since the
mushrooming of Non-Caatholic Denominations where many of the Pastors are
performig Healing Servies, they are also guiding you in your business or any
subject in the name of our religion and Christ exactly. Besides a few among the Roman Catholic hiercharcy. Hence, the point of
going to Ghaddi does not arise for our Christian businessmen. If you see all over the world, especially the Western
World headed by the Christians who were the pioneers in doing business in the most
systematic and scientific manner where they don’t go to the Ghaddis nor they
rob their customers. There is no need to
rob. In the Gulf we worked for so many
years where the owners of our company business do not directly face the
customers nor they involve inn day to day business transactions, for months and months some of them are staying abroad and yet their business
is run systematically by the employers they employ to run their business. No
doubt their business is in big scale but even in the small scale business you can
do in the same manner if you apply modern scientific methods.
The above seen is the Shop of Greg de Candolim
In my village we have yet one more businessman who is well
established in business since he has directly inherited it from his father
P.Jack who was once a renowned Comedian Tiatrist acting with those gigantic artistes
of yesteryears. From 1993 his home business of Bakery is taken over by his son
Greg de Candolim who is also a well-known local Tiatrist having written a number of Tiatros and staging them in his locality and elsewhere beyond his locality. He got his
Shop in Candolim at Ximer where he sells all his home Bakery prepared items
such as Cakes for different occasions, Dodol, Bibinca, Patties, Sandwich,
Biscuits, Pinag, Kol-Kol, Neureo, Bolinhas, X’Mas Decorations etc. In this venture his equally smart wife Mary
also helps him and both combined together they do good business in locality
plus they have customers from the neighbouring villages.
Like Greg de Candolim, there are so many such Gregs who are
Goans and Christians doing their small scale business in a fair manner with the help of God and Jesus
Christ, successfully not only in Candolim but also in other parts of Goandolim and their example must be emulated by the others especailly those who can afford but like idiots tell that "Amchem Goem ghelem Ghanttiancheam Hatin ghelem".
In view of this, those Christian Goans having
their shops rented to outsiders must take them back and wherever it is possible
they must run the same by themselves or their children and thus in this way
step by step we the Goans only should run our businesses not only in Candolim
but also all over Goa. However, what is important for us to gain success in this field is the constant flow of the
customers who must imperatively patronize the business of Goans only irrespective
of their religious affiliations. Our Church leaders especially our Pe. Vigars and
Pe. Curs must advise our faithful either openly or thru clandestinely whom to patronize
because our Pe. Vigars and Pe. Curs know this better. The time is now come for them to act and to
act very boldly and dynamically.
As a matter of fact our community will survive or perish only on the basis of the support and advice of our Church leaders render tou our people. Hence, the onus falls on our Church. In the past our Church in Kuwait has failed us but now it will not be tolerated.

53RD ALL GOA STATE LEVEL MANDO FESTIVAL.
The 53rd
State Level Mando Festival for 2 days from 18 to 19 of this month was held in
Panjim at Kala Academy Hall which was started 45 minutes late at 5.45.PM
instead of given time at 5.00 PM thereby
putting the audience into total inconvenience.
The organisers when acting like irresponsible persons then it is bad for
the promotion of the event. They should
not act that they are organising a Zagor or a Sangodd. Mando Festival is a
prestigious event and fitting its image, dignity and credibility, the
organisers should have acted responsibly.
As it is, they have failed miserably in getting the required number of
audience and not hardly 100 as it was seen on the first day, moreover, among
this audience there were close relatives of the participants and minus this means nothing worthwhile. Shame
on you the organisers of this event. I think you are involved in this festival
only to promote yourselves and not the Mandos.
If you cannot perform your duties properly then you must “leave” from
there.
Seen above is the hard core Konknnivadi and the seniormost compeer who is compeering this festival since its inception Dr.Bicaji Ganekar
In the past when it was
found organising of the Mando Festival was a tedious job as far as financial involvement
was concerned, we from Kuwait and myself in particular came forward under
Kuwait Konknni Kendr and sent donations within our capacity. When time came we shouldered our responsibility
and still we would have done more but pigmy from the organising committee
passed a remark that insulted us a lot. There
is a saying in Konkani “Ghorbidaeche Kotten Lhanvikachi Bhik Magchi Nhoi”, then
instead of alms one will get “Mati”. Instead of appreciating our kind gesture of
giving our donation, the pigmy on top of it ignored us when we came all the way
from Kuwait to attend it, inspite of our donation. His sarcastic remark was this: “What Veronica
thinks of himself, just because he sent donation of few thousands rupees, he
thinks he owned the Mando Festival?”. “Are
Baba” it was not Veronica’s donation but it was of KKK from its Fund though Veronica played a positive role to get it sanctioned. At least Veronica and KKK
sent something but others from Kuwait and elsewhere did not even bothered to
know your plight and difficulties you were undergoing to collect funds for
organising this event. Veronica knew your hardships you were undergoing to
raise the required fund and because he had concern and love for this festival in
general and for Mando in particular, he used his goodwill to propose to KKK to
send that funds.
Agnelo de Borim the seasoned compeer
When I was in Kuwait, I
noticed among our people in Goa that they feel like holding us responsible to
patronise their activities and holding us obligated to blindly support
them. When they intitiate their
activities they never take us into confidence and when the alarm bell rings then
they come running, not only running but sprinting for help. And when we render our help then they don’t even
hallow us when we meet them in Goa, many of them turn their faces the other
side. With my direct involvement and
initiative we from Kuwait financed so many activities and projects in Goa to
the tune of Lakhs of Rupees. Where our
lakhs of rupees gone we sent as donation for Goa Cancer Hospital Society at Dona
Paula? Can anyone give an account of it
and where it was utilized or where it is lying now? Where our Lakhs of rupees have gone that we
sent for the establishment of Novem Goem Daily?
Where are all the Trustees of NG gone now? Were not they responsible for the disaster of
Novem Goem by mismanaging it when they should not because they were not the
people belonging to the class of Ladru and Pedru, they were all highly educated
but ultimately they acted worst than the Ladrus and Pedrus. And on top of it these people are seeking
respect In society. They dont deserve any
respect from the society. Due to their
negligence and stupidity they have killed our ambition in Kuwait to move ahead
in supporting such initiatives. For them
in Goa it is nothing because as it is said in one Konkani proverb that “Kapurleak
khuim Kulei sarke ani Thanaim sarkim”.
Coming back to the Mando
Festival. gone were the days when in late sixties and early seventies,
eighties, nineties till recently people used to gather to see Mando Festival in
very good number even by paying ticket money if I am not mistaken, Rs. 7/- but
now even without ticket people failed to come in good number for this free
event. During those days what I have noticed as a young Collegian since I am a
veteran attendee of this festivaI from 1969/70, all the male attendees coming
in Suit and Tie while the females in their posh dress code and thus emitting
more beauty and grandeur to this event because the people then had great love
and admiration for this festival.
Besides, the participating groups had taste and knowledge of Mando and
its composition and other technicalities.
But gradually it went into the hands of Tiatrists and people of low
cadre in this field and who were ignorant of the soul of Mando. During those
days it was like the monopoly of high
cadre of attendees but later on it was embraced also by the law cadre and now it
is nothing of that sort.
Is it because people
lost their interest in Mando Festival or the organisers lost interest in
marketing this event appropriately? This is the serious issue where concerned
people must do the study and take the corrective steps otherwise gradually
Ghanttees will take over it and with certain modification totally Ghantteeised
it thereby bringing an end to this great cultural part of Konkani Goans.

WELL-KNOWN KUWAIT GOAN MANUEL D'COSTA.
Manuel at my place.
The competitive
foot-ball for Goans and for other Indians was first time started in Kuwait in
1979 by the Goan Club, United Goans Foot-ball Center popularly known as UG and it
was headed by once an ace Goan player from Siolim, Bardez, Antonio Lawrence Fernandes.
With the exception of final, all other matches were played at Sour Grounds, 1
& 2 all in the afternoons. Lot of
Goans and others participated in this soccer among whom some are still in Kuwait
from the time of the inception of this tournament and till now they are
actively taking part in this soccer extravaganza. One such Goan is none other than Manuel D’Costa
from St. Cruz, Ilhas, Goa who is still working in Kuwait and living with his
family peacefully. However, till now he
has not detached himself from this soccer and currently he is the chief of
newly formed Goan Foot-ball Association which caters to the needs of Goan boys.
When he first started in 1979, he was the member of G.O.A. B team, later on he
joined other clubs but for the current Association he is firm since he is doing
lot of hard work to raise the level of his team.
He is very much supported
in this association by some of his colleagues and his family too and he is
grateful to them for their support.
Since currently our soccer is gone into the hands of non-Goans in all
respects, yet Manuel is maintaining Goan identity thru this Association and he
feels happy that many Goans are supporting him for keeping the banner of Goa
and Goans high.
Since he is in Goa now,
a few days back he paid me a visit at Caandolim where we discussed so many
things regarding our past foot-ball activities, his support for Goan causes and
his plans for Goa when he retires from Kuwait. I was highly pleased to welcome
him at my place where he spent his time with me. He is the same Manuel whom I last saw in
Kuwait 6 years back, a simple and humble Goan with all the Goan attributes.

LIBERATION OF GOA MEANS A JOKE FOR ME.
This is the day, the 19th
December, called the Liberation Day of Goa but Supreme Court of
India in its landmark judgment on Pe. Chico Monteiro’s case said that on 19th
December 1961 Goa was conquered by India.
In view of this, I don’t understand who coined this word Liberation of
Goa on 19th December. In
fact, Goa was invaded on 18th December only when the lengthy convey
of Military vehicles including heavy Tanks were going to Aguada Sinquerim to
conquer the heavy military citadel of Aguada where about a few hundreds of
Portuguese Military personnel were stationed there including a few Goans. While going to Aguada early in the morning
when darkness was down and little foggy light was just appearing while the Sky
above was not showing any sign of becoming bright but indicating its sorrowfulness
thru its dull appearance giving an impression that something bad is happening
for the land and for the people below it.
Yes, on that day it was indicating that something bad on Goa is coming
in the name of Liberation of Goa. The atmosphere
all around was indicating that the Raj of Chors – Bamtte – Krimidores – Rostad is dawning on Goa as it was indicated
at a little later than dawn when my father innocently was going to our field to
adjust the flow of water in our Paddy field which was located nearby our house,
touching the main road thru which the Bharati invaders were going to
Aguada. When my father had lot of goodwill
for Portugal for giving us discipline and good habits yet he was always insisting
the Portuguese must leave Goa on its own free will by handing the power over to
Goans. He was fair like a “Paklo” and
this fairness of his attracted the attention of the General or Commander or the
Chief of that Bharati convoy who was seated in the front vehicle from where by stopping his
vehicle and along with others too for about 10 minutes, he shouted loudly at my
father and asked my father in English “what are you doing there and called my
father up to him, for this my father obliged like a obedient soldier of course
like a Cockroach who otherwise thought himself like a giant afraid of none.
Then he asked my father in
Hindi what he is doing in the field, my father replied saying he is
adjusting the flow of water. He asked
then whose field is it, my father replied saying it is his. Then he asked why
you are wearing a Banyan, my father replied saying because I am a poor man.
Then he said loudly “you are poor because Portuguez purposedly kept you poor
and henceforth no Goan will remain poor”.
Listening to this
nonsense as Gospel Truth, my father innocently came home running, leaving the
small job of adjusting the flow of water to our paddy field incomplete and
started giving slogans like a mad, as Jai Hind, Jai Bharat, Nehru Zindabad
and Salazar Murdabad and told us all at home that henceforth we will become all
rich. Such an intelligent my father was
otherwise but that stupid top Military personnel of the stupid country India totally
mesmerized my father who remained till his death to see the good days coming
for us. At moments he was by thinking of
all what he was told by that Indian Military personnel, my father was cursing
him and also to the Bharat where there is no system, no discipline, no law and
order situation. It is not my father
alone but overwhelming majority of our elders who spent their major part of life under the
disciplined system and under the law and order during Portuguese rule, finally gone
to the grave by hating and cursing this Bharat where the corruption and bad
habit are rule of the land and where the Goans are not a match to the Bharati
people whose expertise in this corrupt habits are second to none. The goondagiri is so rampant that these goondas
are become Kings of this land, they can do anything they want because the elected
representatives have gone totally insane as the most corrupt because they lack
quality, character and dignity in them. These public figures are come from
third grade background while during the Portuguese rule it was just the opposite.
They are robbing the people of their money by demanding Bribe from public which
is so huge that it looks a parallel economy is also running in India. These elected representatives are so
disgraceful that they are looting and robbing the Communidade land as if it is
their fathers’ property since Communidade once managed by the upright persons
are now gone into the hands of most corrupt, most rascals and most disgraceful minded Goans.
Everywhere you see nothing but hurdles for you on your way. Those elders of ours thru their wisdom they
forecast that Goa will go out from the hands of Goans and that will be the last
nail in our coffin which will be hammered shortly by the outsider Ghantees, I hope it should not be when
I am alive because as a lover of Goa having struggled for the protection of Goa
so much, I will not be able to accept
that reality.
Today there were so many
functions to celebrate this day with great pomp but for me there is nothing
extra ordinary in this pomp, it is pomp for the people who are enjoying better life
by robbing the Ladrus and Pedrus and filling their pockets. I am not happy on this day because there is
nothing much to be happy, in fact on this day in 1961 my Goa was re-colonised
with the help of Military Gun by the Military personnel who are non-Goan just as
earlier when Portugues General Afonso de Albuquerque colonized Goa and made
Goans as slaves of Portugal. There is no
difference between the slavery of Portugal and Bharat. There is no difference
between the colonizing of Goa by Portugal and Bharat however, the colonialism
from the former was much better that one day it will end at least but the
colonialism of the latter is the worst as
there is no chance for us to get real freedom and liberation, under this
colonialism we will get extinguished and turn into ashes. I would be happy if
my Goa was handed over into the hands of Goans by the Indian government just as
Bangladesh was handed over to their people. And as I forecast, we as peace
loving Goans we will never enjoy peace and prosperity under this Bharati government.
R.I.P. for Goan Peace. And where are all the Freedom Fighters of Goa gone? Was it their wish to see the Goa of their love to reach to this level? Did you suffer so much from the hands of Portugues Agente Monteiros to see your Goa reaching to this miserable level.
A.Veronica Fernandes.
WE NEED PROGRESSIVE CHURCH LEADERS IN GOA.
While in Kuwait I was as an unregistered member of a number of Non-Roman
Catholic Ministries performing its religions obligations besides also associating with some other Non-Christian organisations so too in Goa after
my settling down in Goa I am on the same trend but my I attendance is limited
only to a few. My purpose of associating with these Non-Christian organisations and Non-Roman Catholic denominations
where up to now nobody imposed his permanency on me, for me it is to gain more knowledge
of Non-Christians and Christianity thru different angles and many other aspects of human
relationship with other humans and society as a whole. But what I learnt more
of these Non-romanCatholic denominations is their power of educating their congregations in
Christianity to save your soul and how to develop yourself in this world to
lead a good life by maintaining your financial output. Good that Industrial Revolution came into
existence in England somewhere in the mid 1600 followed by the Revolution
brought in by Martin Luther’s Protestantism that forced Inacio Loyola to bring
about his Counter Revolution in the
birth of Society of Jesus some years later that revolutionized the Roman
Catholicism. In fact the birth of Protestantism was the revolt against the
nonsense the Roman Catholic Church was committing in the name of Religion by
preventing the faithful to be forward looking with dynamism. Inacio Loyola’s
counter revolution made the faithful more aggressive to live firmly in this
world facing obstacles more bravely.
During Seventies, Eighties and Nineties, Gulf Goans if they were
properly guided and directed by the our Church leaders the economy of Goa would
have been in our hands. When I wrote
from Kuwait to one Businessman priest my Plan after the successful establishment
from Kuwait of the Gulf Goans Hotels Company Limited owned by the Goan Shareholders from Kuwait and its Hotel Goan Heritage at Calangute and also after
financing to the tune of lakhs of rupees for Konkani cause in general and Novem
Goem in particular including a fatty donation of so many lakhs of rupees from
Kuwait itself alone for the construction of Cancer Hospital and many other
activities, I received a negative reply from that Priest. During our last so
many years of employment in the Gulf we could have done so much for us, for Goa, for our
community and Goans as a whole but there was no direction and guidance for us
to invest our earnings properly, our Church leaders went on asking donations
only from us and did not help us in starting business ventures even at the
level of small scale or in any other way. They used our financial resources for
their benefits only. I point out
here our Church because we are members of this
Church and by being our leaders, it has more responsibility towards us than
others who also enjoyed the benefit of our earnings in the Gulf. If then our
Church leaders came forward to establish a Land Bank from the money of Gulf
Goans mainly those who were sending the Church leaders donations from the Gulf,
roday a good amount of Goan land would have been in our stock. Similarly, with their pushing we could have
started our own Bank but our Church has failed us because as I said earlier
Roman Catholic Church is not forward looking and having no dynamism otherwise
Martin Luther a soldier turned Priest would not have initiated the counter
revolution.
The surfacing of so many Non-Catholic
denominations recently is surfaced like a counter revolution. A few years back and during my younger days I
never heard the existence of such denominations but they erupted like a volcano
where they engulfed in its fold heavy number of the followers of Roman Catholicism
and if till today Roman Catholicism is surviving still on strong footing then
because of the elderly Saintly Persons like St. Fzrancis Xavier and other like
him. It was the earlier Saints who put in tremendous efforts to promote Roman
Catholicism, they were all Missionaries from Europe while ours could not
decimate from our Church the discriminatory practices systematically practiced in
our Goa Church with the silent nod of our Church leadership.
On last Sunday I attended the service
at Soddiem Siolim of Pastor Domnick whose Ministry has put this Village on
World Map with bold capital letters because of services Pastor Domnick conducts
there in this village. He spoke and
preached on how and why we Goans (I mean Christians) are backward in doing
business? I know even during my younger days there was a fad among Christians
to say that “business is not meant for Christians as if it is the work of
“Chors” and then it was understood then to be a successful in business you have
to be a cheat and thief and you have to
lower your dignity”. I don’t know why
this thought was implanted in our minds by our elders but I am sure our Church
and especially our Priests were responsible for spreading this canard into the
minds of Christians.
😊
In my village there was one young boy who purchased a Motorbike Rajdoot
along with his one Hindu friend in early sixties, both were dropouts from the
School were they were my classmates.
When our Pe. Vigar came in contact with him, Pe. Vigar asked him tauntingly
with full of sarcasm appearing on his face giving an impression that poor boy
has committed a sacrilege in doing this business, “Kitem re Anton, hem
Rostadanchem Business kortai”. That poor
boy Anton was humiliated so much that he felt like committing a suicide but he
did nothing of that sort but sold his Motorbike. But his companion who started this Pilot’s
business within a year purchased two more Motorbikes and in 5 years period he
purchased a Taxi and within a few more he increased it by one more. And finally he got a Bus now where Anton was
working as Conductor.
Pastor Domnick has called a special meeting in the next week at his
Siolim location specially to advice and guide the people how to get into
business. He is very much encouraging
his members and followers who are in thousands to develop themselves financially by creating
producing growth in your income. He
asked the congregation “if outsiders coming into our Goa and doing business and
developing well financially then why cant we?” I strongly support him in this
direction and wish him all the best. We
need in Goa at this very critical juncture not only one Pastor Domnick in
Soddiem Siolim only but in every village and every Vaddo to educate, to guide
and to support us in developing our community members financially. Lack of finance is the root cause of most
of the sins, if not all.

SUCCESSFUL GOAN BUSINESSMAN FROM CANDOLIM
We have just seen how in Benaulim the outsiders were involved in promoting their own business and finally treathening our own Goans who provided them all the facilities to do their business. This is what they are doing everywhere where they are running their own business. Recently in Sinquerim (Candolim) one outsider assaulted one local son of Sinquerim and even broken his shoulder bone because of which the local had to spend a week in the Hospital at GMC. It is time now that we wherever possible equip with all the requirements to oppose their “Dadagiri” and should start our own business venture however small they may be, instead of renting our Shops to the outsiders. And we must patrnonise the shops only run by our fellow local Goans, the genuine Goans and not the artificial Goans who should be kept at a distance because they are selfish and when time comes they will flee from Goa to their home places outside Goa.
In my village Candolim very many shops owned by the genuine locals are rented to the outsiders who are doing excellent business and paying excellent rent to the local owners. When such a situation is seen in Candolim, we have one person in my Candolim village who runs his own business so successfully from 1995 and employing about 10 persons in his business venture consisting of a Bakery and a Shop where he sells all the tasty Eatables such as Dos-Neureo-Balls-Sandwiches-Pattis-Bolinhas-Dodol -Cakes of different types besides many other items to buy the same you see especially in the mornigs innumerable customers lining up there at his Shop in the mornings especially, located at Camotim Vaddo, Candolim touching the main Road. Besides, at this shop the items sold are cheaper than elsewhere as per the owner of this Shop and the Bakery Mr. Lourenco Fernandes known everywhere as Lawry only who is deeply involved in the local affairs including sports promotion mainly the Candolim soccer team and organising cultural functions.
When our business rights
are going into the hands of outsiders, we must stop patronizing the outsiders
and patronize our own Goans doing business even if they are our enemies. It is time now for all of us Goans to think
of Goa and Goans first otherwise outsiders especially the Lamanis will liquidate
us because these outsiders are so crook and so bad with the exception of a few,
they are capable of doing anything worst to grab power of Goa from our
hands. Our government and elected
representatives are supporting them because they are easy to purchase. Secondly
some of our elected representatives are so third class that they are meant not to
seat in Assembly but elsewhere in the jungle.
I on my part offer my
full support wherever possible and within my capacity to Lawry and to any other
Goenkar doing business and taking over all other Shops rented to the outsiders.
See how the Lamani outsider with the big “Danda” beat our own Goan brother and
yet he is roaming freely though arrested but bailed out shortly. Where are all
our Candoikars and Sinkerkars gone now?
Even if our Goan brother from Sinquerim is at fault still we must
support him. Will these same Lamanis and
other outsiders were in our place, would they keep silence? Deffinetely not, they would tear us into
pireces. If the late renowned Tiatrist Alexinho de Candolim was alive now he
would ask in his piercing song from the Stage this: Zori tor hi ghoddni anink
khuincheai ganvan ghoddti, Ghanv ekttaim
zavun suru zateleot asleo morti, Pun Candoikaranchea ani Sinquerim karancheam rogtak
bhavani aiz aili sukhti.
Besides the above, Lawry
Fernandes is supplying his products to the local Hoteliers as well. In fact, because of the sheer quality of the
beautifully tasty Eatables, the fame of Lawry’s Shop has gone far and wide In
the vicinity of Candolim and around in the ambient areas. As a Goan and that too as a genunine Goan, I
as well as all my like minded Goan brothers and sisters must promote and patronize
our local businessmen. Among us Goans especially
the Roman Catholics we have one very bad habbit to pull down our own Goan
brothers because we are too much jealous of our own brothers especially belonging
to the same community. Now we have to
forget about it and irrespective of our religious affinity, we must blindly
support our fellow local Goans and not those Disgraceful Outsiders who got
nothing in common with us. They only
want our Goa and to do this they will do anything.
Immediately following
the invasion of GOA by the cunning Bahrat under the most cunning premier of
India Jawaharlal Nehru, the rascal artificial Goan Dayananda Bandodcar whose
gene lies in the neighbouring Maharastra, floated his MGP to merge Goa with
Maharastra, on behalf of Maharastra Bandodcar stood firm while the
Maharastrians including their top leaders namely Y.B. Chawan and V.P. Naik the
then Chief Minister of Maharastra who had powerful hold over Goa in Delhi that
mattered the most demanding Goa for them while Nijalingappa the Chief Minister
of Mysore now Karnataka where all these fringe
communities like Banjara and others said that they like Goa and they want
it to be their part but we cannot contest the Poll to vote for their decision
and get them the beautiful Goa, however, “if Goans want to join us, they are
most welcome. However, I have strong
hope that one day Goa would be a part of Mysore”.
What is going on now
with the influx of Karnatakans in Goa, among all the outside communities
settled in Goa, Karnataknas are more in number and some of them as I noticed
are all out to work for this end. We have to be more careful now since the
Karnatakans who will fire the first salvo of liquidating Goans from their own
land.

ARE WE IN INDIA RULED BY THE JUNGLE LAW?
When President of USA, the late John F. Kennedy was assassinated by Lev Oswald and while the Security was
escorting him to the judiciary, an unknown person Ruby shot him dead. thus
closing the real secret of this crime since the provider of first hand
information of the persons/nations was liquidated before he could divulge all
the facts to the proper authority. It was then understood that the alleged
hands of Soviet Russia and Cuban Fidel Castro were involved in this gruesome
murder. Oswald was equipped with lot of information to get the identity of those involved in
liquidating President Kennedy. Since the major actors in this scene did not
want to be known, they used Ruby to liquidate Oswald.
I think there is some
similarity between the killing of the President of USA and the cold blooded
killing of the recent 4 alleged rapists of the Hyderabadi girl especially when one
observes that one alleged rapist was marking her carefully where she was parking
her Two Wheeler. Since this young girl
was a good looker, I feel one Romeo must be prowling on her and who must have
used that boy who offered her help in repairing her Bike (the tyre). I am sure, the person who was keeping his
passionate eyes on her must have raped her at least first, and then handed her
over into the hands of 4 others to do what they wanted to do which they did
without any fear of Law nor of God. Hence, to cover up the whole episode and to
protect the real culprit from getting exposed who I am sure must be highly
influential with regards to money and political power, the Police Force was put
to liquidate all the four alleged rapists.
They may all be innocents because they were not given an opportunity
neither to deny nor to accept their guilt but the brute Police force killed the
truth before it could be ascertained.
The theory that all the
four ran to snatch the Gun from the Police looks very weak, if they had to rush
sprintingly to the Police which they must have done, they would surely stop at least one of them
from getting killed. But, no, the Police
came with the intention to kill them only as per the pre plan they had to
liquidate all the four alleged rapists to destroy the real information. I am
firm about my opinion that the Indian police force is so corrupt that many of
them for the sake of money may even do the most nasty things.
When I was travelling first time to Kuwait,
at Santa Cruz Airport in Bombay, after completing my Immigration formalities, a few notes
of 100 Rupees came out of my pocket after I put my hand in the right pocket of
my Pant. There were 3 security personnel
there equipped with Guns ready to shoot and when they saw it, they came running
to me telling me forcefully that “ I cannot carry Indian currency like this
abroad and threatening me most cunningly,
they shamelessly started demanding these few notes totaling hardly 3 to 4
hundred. When I remained silent, they said you give these notes to us or else
we will stop you from going to your destination. Observing this whole tamasha I
said to myself ”what a great fall we Goa had when we fell into the hands of
this bloody corrupt and disgraceful country, called Bharat, officially on 19th
December 1961 and unofficially on 18th of that month. What is the
quality of this country where it produces none other than the corrupt
people and corrupt superiors wielding power. Why our new generation will come
up with good discipline and upright system when the millions of this generation
are developing by witnessing everything bad in and around them? When any Indian Child is brought up in such a
filthy and faulty atmosphere, that child will surely grow up as corrupt thus
creating one corrupt citizen who will be an addition to the level of
corruption. In this way by producing
corrupt citizens we will never build our nation strongly. Hence, India in general and Goa in particular
will go on producing corrupt administrators, corrupt politicians and corrupt
public figures. For this reason, we don’t have now in my once “Bhangaracvhem Goem ” a single public figure, a single good
person neither in my home nor in my Vaddo nor in my village, not in my
Constituency nor in my Goa, not in my village school nor in my village Deu Mandir. Our parents are become corrupt, our elders are also become corrupt, our priests and nuns are become corrupt, our
religious leaders are become corrupt, our elected representatives from
Panchayat, Legislative Assembly and Parliament are totally become “ordinar”
because they won their Seats thru “ordinar” actions and to survive on their
Chairs as MLA’s and Ministers and MP’s they still are doing ordinar actions as shamelessly as ever otherwise my Goa would have been a “Bhangarachem Goem”
only. See our elected representative, he
does not even care for doing his duty, if he had to care he would have put
things into order in our constituency where Roads are totally spoiled with such
big holes because of which so many accidents take place killing so many
innocent people and he does not care for this.
It looks such type of people are not brought up under the care and
discipline of their mothers but by their Timanas and Mauximanas. What good
we will receive from such representatives?
They are like hardened criminals immune to the cries of the people who
voted them to power and finally they act as Sheikhs and Kings. Can such people render good governance? When
they perform their duties as Ladru and Pedru type of people, what benefit we
will get from their corrupt governance? Their governance is of Ladru-Pedru type
governance.
While condemning the murder
of this Hyderabadi girl, I strongly oppose the method used by the Police Force
to liquidate the 4 alleged rapists. Can
the Police Force take law into their own hands and kill the 4 innocent people? I
call them innocent and will also call them as such until they are proved
guilty. Is the Police Force given the
authority to judge the 4 persons and pass the verdict to kill them ? What a shame it is for the nation to have
such a disgraceful Policemen in its department?
If this nation of Bharat is inhabited by the people with little more
intelligence and a bit of concern for the justice, yesterday and today would be demonstrations on every nook and
corner of the roads in India demanding proper justice to the 4 alleged rapists
and thus put an end to this type of revenge killings as we have in remote
parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan and elsewhere. Today it is for the 4 people but tomorrow it
can be for me and you too because power is going into the hands of rascals who are
ready to do anything to protect them and their interest. We cannot be the silent spectators to the
dangerous events taking place in front of our eyes. Are we from a civilized society to
perpetuate this type of jungle rule?

ON THE DEATH OF THE LATE TIATRIST MASTER VAZ.
On behalf of myself and all the like minded Goans especially the Tiatro
lovers, I express my deep feeling of regret over the news of the sad demise of one of the pillars
of yesteryear Tiatrists, the late Jose Lawrence Vaz popularly known as Master Vaz in the
Tiatro world, on 12th of this month, he was in his nineties.
Master Vaz was the youngest Tiatrist during those days to participate in the Tiatros and precisely
because of this he was named as MASTER Vaz, this name he finally will carry to his
grave tomorrow. He was the most faithful lieutenant
of the legendary Minguel Rod who stood by Rod even though Rod was wrong at times especially
when Rod betrayed other two colleagues of his Trio, namely Kid Boxer & Young
Menezes and formed a Quarter comprising
the great Alexinho de Candolim – C. Alvares – Jacinto Vaz – Minguel Rod, only
to see him returning back afterawhile to the original Trio known as Kid-Young Rod. Minguel Rod once told my father who was a close
friend of Rod that “I will never find another jewel of a person in my life like my Kumpar”
meaning Master Vaz, “who remained faithful to me thru thick and thin like Eva
Braun remained faithful to Hitler”. Master Vaz to build his relationship with
Minguel Rod on strong footing, made Rod his Kumpar by naming one of his
siblings after him. Being his closest friend and colleague, Master was in his
own handwriting scripted a few of Rod’s Tiatros of course dictated by Minguel
Rod and being so he made by-heart many of Rod’s Tiatros. It so happened once
while going to stage his Tiatro “Lembddo Santan” at P.T. Bhangwaddy, Bombay, Minguel
Rod carrying the script of the Tiatro got drunk on the way and having lost his
strength to walk any further, he slept there only on “Cross Maidan” at Dhobitalao while Master Vaz and other
artistes were eagerly awaiting the script.
Having no sign of the director who slept well there but awakened at dawn
by some of the Tiatro goers who were returning home after watching the said
Tiatro which was successfully staged under the direction of Master Vaz who
knowing the whole script by-heart prompted it to each artiste successfully. Such was the genius of this great Tiatrist
who is one of the last vestiges of the first batch of the Tiarists.
A few years back his Tiatrist
son Marcus Vaz brought him to Kuwait to participate in his Tiatro staged in Kuwait and when he came to know that
the visiting artistes from Goa were accommodated at my place in Kuwait city, he
was overwhelmed and showered fabulous praises on me not only for this gesture
but more than that in his own words “for helping and promoting our Tiatros in
Kuwait” and concluding thus, “please consider this Tiatro as yours too”. We have felicitated him during the Tiatro in
front of Hall packed audience who in unison gave him standing ovation.
Earlier, from mid sixties he was a strong member of Young Stars of Goa
troupe where he was also playing the role of a female. I can still remember the
short role he played then in Nelson Afonso’s highly political Tiatro “Nationalist”,
of an innocent and ignorant person keeping the Bomb on the roadside on the
command of Agente Monteiro where his trembling hands and terrorized eyes by the
worst “Paklo” Agente Monteiro created fear into the minds and hearts of the
audience.
While concluding, I pray to Heavenly Father to take care of the soul of
our dear Master Vaz who served Konkani Stage for such a long period and offer
my heartfelt condolences to all his family members.
May the soul of Master Vaz rest in peace.
A.Veronica Fernandes.
