After the liberation of Kuwait, again Kuwait Goans under Goa-Kuwait Solidarity Center organized a strong campaign in support of the freedom of Kuwait’s Prisoners of War who were captured by the Iraqis during its invasion period of Kuwait. This campaign was conducted by organising public meetings under G-KSC at Hotel Plaza Ballroom, Kuwait City, these meeting were organised from 1992 till the fall of Saddam Hussein on every 26th of February and they were attended and addressed by the top Kuwaitis, Diplomats and other people from different nationalities including representatives of Kuwait Catholic Church.
To create more awareness and campaign on this subject of POW’s, the Convenor of Goa-Kuwait Solidarity Center, Mr. A. Veronica Fernandes on his own, in January 1995 especially flew to New Delhi and handed over Memoranda to top world leaders stationed in India to seek their intervention with Saddam Hussein to release Kuwait’s POW’s; Mr. Veronica Fernandes took the help of Mr. K. H. Khan the Chairman of Indo-Arab Friendship Society, Mr. Khan was also a Member of Parliament (Upper House).
