As scheduled, Goa-Kuwait
Solidarity Center has successfully organized a meeting in Panjim, Goa, at
Institute Menezes Braganza Hall, on 26th February, Wednesday, to
mark the 23rd anniversary of the liberation of Kuwait. The meet was
well attended by the people not only by the Kuwait Goans, ex and current but by others also.
A.Veronica Fernandes compered the
proceedings and at an outset he welcomed the gathering including the Chief
Guest Mr. Mubarak Al Hindal coming all the way from Kuwait especially to attend
this meet. The meet was began with the
playing of National anthems of Kuwait and India on live music provided by Aggie
Dias and his troupe. This was followed
by a beautiful song on invasion of Kuwait by Chef Jerry Cal the director of Gulf Goans Hotels Co. and
producer of VCD “Calangute”.
Mr. Manuel Fernandes ex Kuwait in
his speech highlighted the importance of our employment in Kuwait and how much
he and others as well benefited from Kuwait.
Dr. Sunil Chawan ex Kuwait in his speech described his deep gratitude to
Kuwait for improving his economic condition by saying that while going to
Kuwait he went as an employee but while returning for good he returned as an
employer. He also assured free service in his Clinics in Goa where he is
providing Alternative medicine, for one hour to members and supporters of
Goa-Kuwait Solidarity Center.
Mr. Mubarak Al Hindal described
in his speech the great role Goans have played during the invasion of
Kuwait. He also showed his appreciation
for Goans for their support still further adding that such support does not
seen anywhere in the world. As a mark of
appreciation for his role in solidarity with Kuwait movement, he presented A.
Veronica on behalf of Kuwait a Kuwaiti Scarf and a Memento. In the hall Mr. Hindal was
presented with a Flower Bouquet by Maria Perpetua Fernandes as seen in the picture above. (More pictures will follow separately)

In response to the suggestion of
some of the attendees coming from other Gulf States, A. Veronica agreed to
organize a bigger association of all the Gulf Goan returnees. In this direction, a separate meeting will be
convened at an appropriate time thru public announcement.
Mr. Mubarak Al Hindal was the
centre of attraction where he was embraced and hugged by the attendees. He was
interviewed by the TV Channels before the meet along with Veronica, this was telecast on 27th & 28th Feb. He was overwhelmed by the deep affection and
warm reception he received in Goa and as a mark of gratitude he said “Thank you
all”.
On 25th February, A.
Veronica showed him Hotel Goan Heritage where he was received with warm welcome
with a bouquet of Flowers by a team of Hotel Management. He showed his deep appreciation for Kuwait
Goans for constructing such a beautiful Hotel and assured Veronica his help in
marketing this hotel in Kuwait and other states in the Gulf.
