Malabar Retains 37th UGC Trophy

Malabar

The final was played onJanuary 25th between Malabar FC and DHL. Malabar retained their title by a solitary goal which was scored by Shafi. The match started under foggy conditions but the weather improved into ten minutes and the match was played under pleasant conditions. The match was referred by IFRA officials Sarto, Baptista, Sharma and Michael. DHL had the first chance of the match but the shot missed the target by a few inches. Malabar on the other side missed a good chance to take the lead from Binu jose. Malabar and DHL both played attacking football but both teams could not capitailize. The keepers of both teams did a good job to keep all threats out. DHL’s best chance of the match hit the post and the rebound shot only found the keeper. Ten minutes into the second half both teams made changes to find a result. A dangerous swinging cross into the DHL’s dee was pushed out by the DHL keeper Manoj but the ball was volleyedback into the net by No.16 Mohammed Shafi to give Malabar the lead and add to his tally of four goals in the tournament.  Malabar looked very confident after getting the lead and began to take control of the midfield after being a goal up. Seby and Elves of DHL increased their workrate on the pitch to try to get back the equalizer and nearly succeded when Malabar’s defense failed to clear but DHL could not hit the target. Malabar would have a chance to increase the lead when Younus tricked the keeper going  for a zero angle shot instead of a regulation cross. The DHL keeper did well to keep it out of goal. The match ended in favour to Malabar and they sucessfully defended their title for two years running.

G.O.A. - Kuwait Rolling Trophy 2013 - 19th Edition

G.O.A ROLLING TROPHY

Real Betalbatim, UFC, Kerala Challengers and Don Bosco win

In interesting first round clashes in the 19th edition of the prestigious G.O.A Rolling trophy organized by Goan Overseas Association (Goa Maroons) and played at the MOH Grounds in Shuwaikh on 18th January 2012 under the auspices of Kuwait Indian Football Federation, Real Betalbatim, United Friends Club (UFC) and Don Bosco Oratory (DBO) qualified for the next round.
Goa Tournament - Real Betalbatim
Goa Tournament - Sparx
In the first match of the day, Real Betalbatim overcame a youthful Sparx 2-1 and are through to the quarterfinals. Real Betalbatim had several opportunities in the first half to score, but erratic shooting by their forwards ensured a barren first half. Denzil of Real Betalbatim finally broke the deadlock when he scored the first goal of the game in the third minute of the second half, and although Sparks did put a lot of pressure for the equaliser, the Real defence led by Teddy Pinto stood firm. Elvis added a second when he headed neatly from a free kick taken by Bradley. Although Sparks pulled one back, it was a little too late.
Goa Tournament - Skynet Raiders
Goa Tournament - UFC
In the second match of the day, United Friends Club won 2-1 against Skynet Raiders in a sea-saw battle which saw both sides missing opportunities. However it was UFC who took the lead at the stroke of half time when Teotonio their dependable defender headed home from a free kick. Jamnas added a second in the 25th minute of the second half, while Skynet Raiders who tried their level best to find the equalizers were able to score one through Ismail in the dying minutes of the game.
Goa Tournament - Don Bosco Oratory
Goa Tournament - United Goans Centre
Strong title contenders Don Bosco Oratory got the better of United Goans Centre 1-0 in a game mostly confined to midfield with few chances in between. Although Don Bosco Oratory had the edge and the UGC keeper had to make a couple of good saves, UGC too missed a good chance towards the end, when their forward missed the target.
Goa Tournament - Kerala Challengers
Goa Tournament - Indian Strikers
On 25th January Kerala Challengers got the better of Indian Strikers 4-0 with Shabbir Ali scoring a fine hat-trick to ensure his team's progress into the second round. Rafeeq opened the scoring for Kerala Challengers in the 24th minute of the first half while Shabbir Ali socred in the 5th, 12th and 25th minute of the second half.

Coming Friday 01/2/2013, CRC Chinchinim will play DHL at 6;45am, followed by AVC v/s Curtorcares United at 8:15am and the last match will feature KGA v/s Malabar at 9:45am.

UG - KUWAIT IN THE SERVICE OF FOOT-BALL.

I bow down my head with respect and admiration in front of United Goans Center for initiating competitive soccer for Indians 34 years back. It was in 1979 the first ever competitive inaugural soccer tournament was organised by UG then called as United Goans Football Center and it was played on League-Cum-Knock-Out basis and this system lasted till the invasion of Kuwait. The venue for these soccer activities was the popular Sour Grounds in Kuwait city and in the beginning games were played in the afternoons. There were two grounds, one was next to the new Masjid where the inaugural match was played between the then mighty team Goan Sporting and Salmiya Youth of Peter D;Souza; the latter was captained by me and we defeated the former by two goals without reply. Incidentally, Goan Sporting later on reached to the final and won it by defeating the then mighty UG.

With a break of one year because of invasion of Kuwait in 1990-1991 season, UG restarted their tournament after the liberation of Kuwait on Knock-Out-Basis discarding the old League system. During those early days UG in its rank had gigantic players many of them were senior divisioners in Goa. Also in its committee there were well known soccer crazy members headed by Antonio Lawrence Fernandes as its president from Siolim Bardez, Goa, who once was an ace player of Goa representing the then mighty Goan outfit “Lube Football Club” a first divisioner during the glorious soccer era of Goa under Portuguese rule when top teams were dotted with highly talented Portuguese footballers of which type we don’t see now anywhere in India.

The president of UG Antonio Lawrence Fernandes was associated as gigantic members in UG Committee by Tony Gonsalves from Divar, F.X. Joe D’Souza from Assagao Bardez, late Diogo Gomes from Bastora, late Custodio Fernandes from Navelim, late Joe Fernandes from Colva and others. All these committee members have played an excellent role in the promotion of UG soccer activities in particular and football promotion in general among Goans in particular and Indians and expatriates in general. To achieve their goals they faced gruelling time spending their precious hours after their work, depriving many facilities for them and for their loving families. Also they spent their personal money for this cause. At that moment it looked for many that they are doing foolish thing but later on and now it came to be realised that it was something extraordinary what they did which had impressive effect.

To do what they did especially in the beginning they faced lot of obstacles and problems and rightly or wrongly faced lot of criticism for either doing things rightly or maliciously. While embarking on this job many times they were not flawless yet their flaws were all forgotten because of the good this work contained. It is not only football that has benefited from UG’s initiative but in the name of soccer also other aspects of the community especially of Goan community benefited. Because of this soccer lot of boys got jobs and made their future strong; lot of boys got Visas for them and for their dependents and many more received financial benefits. But above all because of this soccer innumerable boys got identity in society with their social status reaching high. Because of this soccer unknown persons isolated from society became sociable creatures by becoming office bearers of their Clubs and Teams. Within a night so to say they became heroes otherwise they were first class zeroes confined to their work areas only where many of them were only the Monarchs of what they surveyed within the four walls of the work areas and work jurisdiction.

The final of the first edition (also of 2nd edition) in 1979 was played at Ahmadi KOC ground between UG and Goan Sporting. It was attended by a huge crowd mainly Goans dotted with other Indians who came from all parts of Kuwait. It was a sea of spectators attending a huge occasion organised by Goans under the Goan organisation The United Goans Football Center popularly known as UG.

In the inaugural tournament there were around 10 participating teams out of which five were really strong namely UG, Goan Sporting, Starlite Goans, Salmiya Youth and Friends Club of Salmiya. All these five teams in their ranks had at least one highly talented stalwart worth admiring. For example in UG it was Alcantro Barreto ex Salgaocar, in Goan Sporting it was Cajetan Godinho, in Starlite Goans it was Charlie ex Mahindra Bombay, in Salmiya Youth it was me an ex Sesa Goa and in Friends Club Salmiya it was Julio Cardos under their bar.

It is nice to see the legacy of UG is still maintained by different clubs by organising their own tournaments under the auspices of Kuwait Indian Foot-ball Federation which came into existence much later. KIFF came into being on fertile soil created by UG. It was UG’s initiative that helped other tournament organisers to come forward to give further push to UG’s initiative. We can forget anything and everything but never the good work UG did in initiating our soccer activities in this part of the world where life for us is not easy and cosy.

According to my observation since our soccer activities are shifted from Sour grounds the interest in foot-ball is become less. In fact earlier there was lot of interest in footballers as well as spectators but now not much. Now organising a tournament is become very expensive because everybody is charging his fees, namely for Ground, for Referees and others. Besides Sour ground was very accessible for everyone while the present venue is too far from Kuwait city. Taking all aspects into consideration I can say our soccer will not die a slow death but survive lame footedly because it lacks former enthusiasm shown by earlier people involved in its promotion.

While concluding I wish UG and all its members who worked so hard to finish this season's edition on last Friday 25.01.13 so successfully, all the best.

A. Veronica Fernandes,
Kuwait.

CM’S WRONG MOVE

CM’S WRONG MOVE

By Aires Rodrigues

The session of the Goa Legislative Assembly begins tomorrow. Amongst other issues it is expected to consider some amendments to the Goa Lokayukta Act. The proposed amendment to penalize a person who files a false complaint with a fine of one to ten lakhs and upto a year in jail is uncalled for. Infact the amendment should have been to reward and recognize every complaint which leads to the conviction of a Public servant.

I hope the Chief Minister himself will apply his mind and not pursue his proposed amendment. But if he insists let us hope better sense will prevail in the other 39 MLA’s. Infact I have today through an SMS sent to all the 40 MLAs including my MLA Mr. Manohar Parrikar urged them not to chain and shackle the citizens of Goa by voting for such a draconian and undemocratic amendment. The 40 elected MLAs and the people of Goa together must move forward to build a Corruption free Goa. For this we need to encourage every citizen to come forward with complaints of corruption and maladministration so that the current corroded system can be cleansed. Hanging a Damocles sword on the citizens even before the Lokayukta starts functioning would be a step in the wrong direction.

I am all for stringent action against those filing false complaints. The provisions of the Indian Penal Code
already provide for such punishment to those filing false and frivolous complaints and these provisions can be invoked by the Lokayukta when deemed fit. There is no need of a Parivartan as far as this is concerned.

MANOHAR PARRIKAR BETRAYS MATANHY SALDANHA

By Aires Rodrigues

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had publicly vowed that he would solidly stand by everything that the late Matanhy Saldanha fought for. He had promised to take forward the legacy of late Matanhy. How then is Manohar Parrikar in a clear betrayal of his promise now vigorously pushing the proposed Airport at Mopa despite Matanhy having unequivocally and consistently stated that the Mopa airport project was a scam and that it should not go ahead. It is also surprising that Alina Saldanha has also made a U turn on what her late husband stood for. Did Manohar Parrikar genuinely respect Matanhy Saldanha and all that he stood for?

The late Matanhy Saldanha’s well researched opposition to Mopa was very crystal clear. In one of his press notes published in 2008 he had stated

“It is now very clear why many politicians and vested interest want the Mopa airport. Many who are demanding the Mopa airport are ignorant or pretend to be ignorant, that Goa is going to lose its identity since the builders are going to build only for migrants from other states. Imagine how much land is already sold to fly by night vested interest in Pernem alone”.

STOP KILLING INNOCENT PEOPLE TO PROPAGATE YOUR RELIGION.

What ails Islamist extremists? In many places around the world they want to impose their brand of political system suitable to their ideology. The recent incident in Algeria of hostage taking and killing many of them created a chill in our marrow. Those who are killing people in the name of propagating their religious ideology are doing disservice to God and thereby committing a sacrilege. God did not say to kill His own people to propagate His doctrine. And as a matter of fact, Islam came to this world not thru the means of Sword but surely thru the means of Peace which is the core of Islam.

The reason for France militarily to involve in Mali is to bring about peace in that country which was once the colony of France. The Islamist extremists challenged the authority of the current government in Mali to create chaos there. So much so the rebels have alienated government’s authority in some parts of Mali. Elsewhere we saw at so many places former colonialists intervened to protect the existing governments’ rule of law.

The involvement of France in Mali has angered the Islamist extremists who as revenge sent their rebellious commandos to neighbouring Algeria and took hostage number of Western and Japanese workers there working at the Gas Project in Algeria. As per their statement the rebels have vowed to take revenge against Christian West in general and Christian France in particular for involving in Muslim countries like Mali. As per the statement of the Islamist Extremists, France and West are anti Muslim.

As a matter of fact there are innumerable Muslims in the West in general and in France in particular enjoying the privileges of practicing and propagating Islam freely. These Muslims are the citizens of these Western countries in general and France in particular. If West and France in particular were to be the enemies of Islam then they would not allow Muslims there and Islam to flourish there. In France itself the grip of Islam is very strong and precisely because of this about a century back one visiting Muslim scholar Imam Mohammed Abdo when stepped in his foot there he noticed how deeply Islam is rooted in France finally making him remark thus “In the West I see Islam but no Muslims while in the East it is just the opposite”.

A Muslim will not be a Muslim unless he accepts and admits Christ the originator of Christianity and also other Prophets. That some Christians and Christian nations and also non-Christians are working against Muslims and Islamic countries is condemnable and I condemn it. Those Christians and non-Christians fighting religious wars against Muslims in the name of their religions are doing a great injustice to their religions. The core of all religions is the same because all religions tell to do good. No religion tells to do bad, to do injustice and to kill people.

According to me it is too difficult for Muslim extremists to impose their ideology on others. The world currently is too advanced and too civilised to outdated Theocratic ideology. These people may gain temporary gains but in the long run they are bound to fail as they failed earlier elsewhere Today many of the people kept a distance from converting into Islam because of the extremism some Muslims practice to impose their extremist’s ideology. It is these extremists who create a bad image of Islam by committing cruelties against innocent people otherwise Islam is one of the best religions that worth embracing.

It is to be strongly noted that Christians and Christian nations have brought lot of development and Peace into this world by stopping injustice committed by non-Christians and non-Christian nations. Many of the problems and wars taking place among Muslims and Islamic countries are set right by the Christian West. When one Islamic country Kuwait was invaded by another Islamic country Iraq it was Christian West headed by Christian USA under the presidency of Christian Bush that liberated Islamic country Kuwait thereby bringing Peace into this Islamic region. It was Christian country USA supported by Christian NATO that brought some peace in Muslim Afghanistan otherwise Al Qaeda would create more terror in the world thereby destroying not only the enemies of Islam but also the friends of Islam.

As a well-wisher and supporter of Islam I request moderate Muslims to plead with the Islamist extremists to stop killing innocent people in the name of their religious ideology. It must be known that the greater the Islamist extremism greater is the set- back for the advancement of their cause.  And certainly suicide bombing is not the right way to fight for justice.. No human being is authorised to take away his own life voluntarily, leave aside killing others.  Only God cantake away one;s life. Those who are committing suicide are committing a sin against God.

PARRIKAR'S LOVE FOR SINFUL CASINOS.

MANOHAR PARRIKAR’S NEW FOUND LOVE FOR CASINOS

By Aires Rodrigues

Addressing the Goa Legislative Assembly on 7th August last year Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had categorically and confidently stated that he did not need the revenue from Casinos for Goa’s developmental works.

Obviously branding the revenue from Casinos as “bad” money, Mr. Manohar Parrikar stated that revenue from Casinos would be kept in a separate account and utilized only for homes for the aged and those suffering from Alzheimer's, etc. "We don't want to use that money to buy computers for students," he had said. “We don’t need that money in the budget” is what the Chief Minister further stated while boasting that the State coffers did not need revenue earned from the Casino industry.

Why Manohar Parrikar chose to say he would embalm the aged with such money only he can explain. Is it not a sheer disrespect and insult to the Senior citizens? But the fact is that though five months have elapsed since that assurance by the Chief Minister no such separate account as promised has been set up to date to take stock of that Casino revenue.

It is also worth recalling that calling them "dens of vice", while in the opposition Mr. Manohar Parrikar had led the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) campaign against casinos. “We will make sure that casinos are thrown out of Goa," the then leader of opposition Manohar Parrikar had thundered.

He had said that the BJP campaign would not only cover off-shore casinos, but also those which operate in 5-star hotels in the state. The casinos are nothing but dens of vice, he had then asserted.

So after all that talk how does Manohar Parrikar now justify his new found love for Casinos. He had himself led agitations at the Panaji Jetty demanding their immediate removal from the River Mandovi. For the double talk and this inexplicable U turn the people of Panaji may never forgive Manohar Parrikar. Can we trust Manohar Parrikar after all that manipulative talk which fools no one. Mr. Chief Minister, we are not yet showing signs of Alzheimer's and there is no memory loss as far all your talk is concerned.

THE LATE JOAO FRANCISCO SANTANA FERNANDES CARVALHO.

It is with deep grief and sorrow I pen down these few sorrowful lines coming on to the fore from bottom of my heart. This is on the late Mr. Joao Frencisco Santana Fernandes Carvalho popularly known as Santan Carvalho who expired in Kuwait on 18th of this month. Santan Carvalho was from Raia Salcette, did his schooling up to Matriculation at St. Joseph’s High School, Arpora, Bardez, Goa;  this school is the first English High School of Goa.

During his entire scholastic career as a Boarder he performed well in studies but in sports representing his School at all Goa level he performed extremely well. During those days when Goa was under Portuguese rule Matriculation was the highest level of English education in Goa and if anybody wanted to pursue still higher education in English one had to migrate to Bombay or Poona or Belgao or elsewhere.

The standard of this school during those days was so high that inspite of being a school it was still called as written in Portuguese on the school board at its entrance "COLLEGIO DIOCESAN DE ST. JOSE – ARPORA". The motto of this school was written on school calendar in Latin as "TAKE THE NECESSARY FOOD AND DEPART". Depart where? In the jungle? No! Depart to higher world to acquire higher things in life. With this view in mind Santan Carvalho after completing his education in Goa came to Kuwait approximately in 1955 by Ship which berthed in the deep Sea behind Seaf Palace from where small Barges used to go and bring the passengers from the berthed ship, to the shore for Customs clearances and other formalities for the passengers to enter Kuwait. Santan Carvalho like other Goan passengers carried the prestigious Portuguese Passport since Goans from Goa were treated by the Portuguese Government as overseas Portuguese citizens. Because of Portuguese nationality Goans in Kuwait enjoyed superior treatment compared to other Indians holding Indian Passports. This is one of the reasons Goans acquiring jealousy from other Indians.

During those good old days it was said, "if you want to attain laurels in Sports in Goa then join Arpora School". With this view in mind as an ambitious sportsman at an early age, Santan Carvalho came to Arpora School with a Violin in his hand since it was a part of his life and met with the then great Principal of that School Fr. Philipe Neri Mendonca popularly known everywhere as Fr. Mendonca. Seeing him with a Violin in his hand, Fr. Mendonca asked this young and physically well built boy full of positive energy ‘what he wants’. For this question the young boy replied saying ‘Fr. I want to join this school’. Then Fr. Menondance asked "Do you know to speak English well?" The boy surprised Fr. Menonca by speaking not only in English but also in Portuguese and also playing Violin. Seeing such a fabuluous talent in him Fr. Mendonca registered the young boy as a boarder where he developed as an extra ordinary soccer goalkeeper playing for school team as a first choice goalkeeper.

During those good old days in Goa representing Arpora School in any discipline of sports means representing Goa. Since it was a boys school, any boy from this school coming out first in any item at All Goa Inter-school Athletics Meet means he was the best in Goa. This trend lasted till I finished my schooling at Arpora since I was the last Arpora student to win at All Goa School level the individual championship in athletics creating new record for 100 metres sprint. Arpora school then known to create gigantic sportsmen and Santan Carvalho was one of them and I was the last from this gigantic category from this school. After me this school did not create giants of our type in Athletics nor in Soccer.

According to senior teachers at Arpora school, Arpora school has never produced a magnificent goalkeeper like Santan Carvalho. When once he injured his left hand, he started catching the ball in his right hand but never got substituted. Rarely did it seem he allowed his opponent to score a goal from the penalty kick. When playing against Liceu many of the Portugese players out of frustration tried to kick him but since physically he was very strong he never allowed his opponents to succeed in their nasty plans. He had unique distinction of diving for the ball from one corner of the goal to the other to stop the ball. In the air he would not allow the ball to enter into his net. His height was his big advantage. Once when I asked the secret of his success under the bar, he replied saying "I was constantly praying while guarding the goal posts as per the advice of Fr. Mendonca and this prayer was making me impenetrable".

He was one of the best violinist playing Violin for Arpora school choir. Even in Kuwait he was known to be a good violinist, many times playing in the Church especially Motets during the Lent season. When C. Alvares died we called a condolence meeting at Village Inn, Kuwait City. During this meeting the late Rosary Ferns with Thelma rendered the best duet song of C. Alvares "TARVAR VETAM" and musical score for this song was beautifully provided by Santan Carvalho on his beautiful Violin.

He was a great hearted Goan having all the attributes of pristine Goan. He was expert on Goan history and culture. As a Goan he had great love for Goa and Goans and always ready to give a helping hand for needy Goan and Goan causes. He had especial Niche in his heart for those who studied at Arpora. He has never seen me in Goa as a best runner of Goa winning 100, 200 & 400 metres races nor playing first class soccer for Sesa but he only heard of me. When I came to Kuwait he located my presence and came sprinting to wish me and offer a helping hand. When he came to know I am jobless and desperately looking out for one, he put in his words to some of his friends. When I told him not to inconvenience because of me, he replied saying that it was his duty as en ex Arporite to help another ex Arporite. What a great wisdomatic thought!! Only wisdomatic persons think in this way and for that matter how many ex Arporites having power and position think thus?

In his death Goa lost a great soccer goalkeeper, Kuwait Goan community a very good person and his children a loving and responsible father.

To all his loving children I confess that I am too deeply sad of your daddy’s death. He was daddy to you but elder and loving and caring brother to me. I too will miss him just as you miss him. May His Soul Rest In Peace.

REMEMBERING THE LION OF THE OPINION POLL

By Aires Rodrigues

The Calangute Panchayat needs to be lauded for annually remembering January 16th the anniversary of that historic 1967 Opinion Poll that saved Goa from being a mere taluka of Maharastra. It is also remembering the great late Dr Jack Sequeira. There is no reason why this auspicious day should not be commemorated at a State level.

Successive governments have done nothing in memory of the late father of the Opinion Poll. The younger and coming generations need to be told and reminded about the great contribution of Dr Jack Sequeira for the betterment of Goa.

I remember with nostalgia witnessing the great debates by Dr Jack Sequeira in the Goa Legislative Assembly. I also had the privilege of addressing along with him many public meetings in the 70’s. Leaders of his integrity, honesty and commitment we may now never see in this world of political pygmies.

It is hoped that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar will ensure that the government does something concrete to perpetuate the memory of the late Dr Jack Sequeira. It should be our endeveaour to save and salvage what remains of Goa. Unfortunately Goa is getting defaced beyond recognition at an electrifying speed

KASHMIR ISSUE - INDIA & PAKISTAN.

Kashmir is one of the best places in the sub-continent. To maintain its especial identity its Maharaja purchased Kashmir from the British East India Company for 75 lakhs of rupees. Till the time of partition of India Kashmir under its Maharaja enjoyed its independence under the umbrella of British. But since then it has become the worst complicated spot and a reason for India and Pakistan to fight two wars, the first was immediately following the independence of India and Pakistan. Since it was independent from India and Pakistan, the latter tried to grab it by force by sending Pakistani Marauders who succeeded in illegally annexing approximately 30% of Kashmir to Pakistan before India could send it’s Military to salvage 75% of Kashmir also otherwise going into the hands of Pakistan. India came to drive away Pakistani Marauders on the request of Kashmir Maharaja of the time who pleaded with Indian Premier Nehru to save his remaining Kashmir from falling into the hands of Pakistani Marauders.

Nehru sent Indian troops to save Kashmir for its legal independent authority under its Maharaja and not to annex it to Independent India. At that time the ruler of Kashmir its Maharaja as expected and as agreed thought Nehru would hand over the salvaged part of Kashmir from the hands of Pakistani Marauders to the legal authority of Kashmir the Maharaja of Kashmir. But no. Nehru is Nehru, a cheat and a cunning fox. He retained the salvaged part of beautiful Kashmir to India and to please Kashmiri Muslims appointed his crony Sheikh Abdulla as Prime Minister of Indian occupied Kashmir.

As a matter of interest, according to many Goan Freedom Fighters they requested Nehru’s Bharat only to liberate Goa from the Portuguese domination and go back to Bharat by handing the power of Goa into the hands of Goans to make Goa as independent sovereign State just like Bangladesh. This was not done for Goa because Nehru was a crook along with his entire Cabinet since none in it opposed Nehru’s decision to annex Goa to Bharat. Today we are suffering in Goa because of this wrong decision of Nehru and this suffering of Goans will last till Goa is totally degoanised and stripped of its genuine Goan culture, tradition, language, folklore and other best of Goan attributes and replaced by "Sala Banchot" attributes from Ghanttis who are upsetting the demographic set up of Goa.

When India and Pakistan were fighting for the supremacy of Kashmir both the warring parties agreed for the ceasefire under the UN mediation and both India and Pakistan agreed for the Plebiscite to settle this issue once and for all. To hold Plebiscite the UN said both India and Pakistan must withdraw from Kashmir they occupied and let UN under its supervision hold the Poll in Kashmir for the Kashmiris to decide their future. Incidentally Pakistan refused to withdraw and thus the Plebiscite was stalled. If Pakistan had to agree for the Poll at that time the question of Kashmir would have been solved then only and it would not linger on till now.

Even though Indian Kashmir is enjoying certain especial previlleges under India yet majority of Indian Kashmiris want totally independent Kashmir for them to protect their own undiluted identity. In this demand they have strong backing of their brothers and sisters in Pakistan occupied Kashmir who are doing everything possible by fair and unfair means to help the Indian Kashmiris to achieve their goals. Kashmiris under Pakistan occupied Kashmir are happy there unlike their counterparts in India occupied Kashmir. Kashmiris on both the sides do not want their separation, they want to be one under one roof. Indian Kashmiris fighting for their freedom from India are called Freedom Fighters while Indian government calls them as terrorists and by dubbing them as such they are harassed too much by the Indian security apparatus. Indian Kashmiris demanding and fighting for their separate homeland are considered by Indian government as anti-Indian and as such many times their basic freedom is curtailed, their movement and activities are monitored, even going to their Mosques for prayers is looked with suspicion by Indian authorities. All these hindrances only because they are asking political freedom for them.

By the way, if Veronica tomorrow starts a peaceful campaign in Goa demanding freedom for Goa from India, even though this campaign is peacefully organised, I am sure Indian government will suppress this peaceful movement with iron hand thereby dubbing this campaign as a secessionist movement even though the right to freedom is Veronica’s birth right.

Now again because of Kashmir the wary situation is created at the Kashmir border. This situation was flared up immediately when two Indian soldiers were butchered on 8th of this month at LOC allegedly by Pakistani criminals. One of the soldiers was killed in an inhuman way deserving highest condemnation. Pakistan denied its hand into these two barbaric killings and to get correct picture asked third party intervention under UN to get the correct culprit. But India refused this proposal giving more weight to Pakistani denial. According to one source both these Indian soldiers were butchered by Indian intelligence only under the instruction of Italian Sonia Gandhi’s government to create a vote bank for the Congress Party in the next general election by creating anti-Pakistani feelings in India. That besides, as a matter of fact India took a very firm stand that these two soldiers were killed by Pakistanis only. Officially India does not trust Pakistani version and there is good reason for India not to trust Pakistan.

Immediately following the Mumbai attack Pakistan refused to admit its hand into it, so much so Pakistan even refused to accept Ajmal Kasab as its own citizen. But when real facts were bared Pakistan had no answer but to accept its involvement silently. Hence, as per the current events Pakistan either today or tomorrow will also accept its hand into these two killings of Indian soldiers.

Because of Kashmir India and Pakistan fought two wars with heavy losses on both the sides in men and in materials. In both the wars Pakistan lost more heavily. In case because of Kashmir another war takes place, I am sure the loser will lose very heavily. India is taking lot of patience inspite of being in a better position to counter Pakistani attack. Because of underestimating India’s might Pakistan in the past provoked India to go for wars and lost heavily in men, money and territory. If again another war is imposed on India Pakistan alone will lose further more.

Personally I don’t want Pakistan to suffer more defeat. I wish a stable Pakistan as innumerable do in India. I hope Pakistani leaderships – political – military & religious will act sensibly to avoid another war with India.

What Anwar Sadat of Egypt could not attain by means of war with Israel finally he attained thru peaceful negotiation. Can India and Pakistan attain their goals thru peaceful means? Surely yes and time is coming soon for this peaceful negotiations. Compared to Pakistan India is more decent and matured country and because it is so India remained calm till today inspite of the provocation both internally and externally, to go for war against Pakistan.

The great Indian independence leader Lokmanaya Tilak said while fighting for freedom for India from the British “FREEDOM IS MY BIRT RIGHT AND I MUST FIGHT FOR IT". In view of this why not give political freedom to those who are demanding it for the sake of Peace? How long this demand for political freedom will remain suppressed? A day will come like a Tsunami when every aspirant for political freedom will be freed just as it happened in Soviet Russia in 1990 and to other communist blocks. India must stop keeping its entire people forcibly under its bondage.

Malabar and DHL Advance to the 37th Edition of UGC Finals

Report by: Joseph Gonsalves

 DHL
Malabar
Don Bosco took on last years winners Malabar and both teams put on a good performance to entertain the spectators in cold weather conditions. The 37th UGC football tourney is sponsored by Al-Mulla Exchange. The match was referred by Sarto, Niklas and Francis. Malabar took the lead early through a defensive mistake by Don Bosco. Binu Jose scored two crucial goals to take them to another finals of the 37th UG rolling trophy. Don Bosco began to get into the game and had many good chances to equalize. Ronny of Don Bosco sent in many good crosses and Vicky was able to get a fine header to equalize for Don Bosco.  Malabar were busy in the second half defending in the back but once they got the lead from a fine effort from Binu Jose they began to attack confidently and maintain possession. Don Bosco had a good chance to get a equalizer in the dying minutes of the game, but the effort was just wide of the post. Malabar last years winners have made it to the final yet again where they will face DHL.

In the second semi-final DHL took on Curtocares. The speed with which Curtocares play was always going to be a threat to DHL and in the first minute Curtocares had a shot on target.  Curtocares dominated possession in the first half, passed the ball well among themselves. No.22 Cleto was rewarded from his long range effort  seeing the keeper slightly off position to put Curtocares in the lead. DHL was busy defending and their keeper was tested several times. The hard work of Seby from DHL paid off when he equalized towards the end of first half. His shot from inside the dee could not be kept out by the keeper. In the second half, Curtocares failed to make a good clearance from a corner and when the ball landed on Sebys feet he made no mistake to find the back of the net to give DHL the lead. The match ended 2-1 in DHL’s favor.

I am witting this letter to you regarding the raise of rape cases in India. I wound like to recollect memory.

When first rape case took place in Delhi after four to five days once more the same crime was repeated again and now it is started in Goa.

On 14/01/2013 at Sada one seven years school girl was raped and I am very confident that this crime is not done by a Goan and I think this is a political game.

I request you to do something regarding this matter if you can and try to compose a song on this crime so Goans will come to know what is really happening in Goa and what are the political benifits behind this so that Goans  will raise this issue and the case will not close till the criminal of this crime is punished.

Thank You.

DELHI IS INDIA'S CAPITAL OF RAPES.

About 35 years back India’s capital Delhi was named by some social activists as the capital of Rape and not the capital of India. How prophetic this name is!! And how relevant now this name is even after 35 long years.!!

The incident of naming Delhi as India’s capital of Rape was the raping of Chopra daughter in Delhi by the two third grade men namely Ranga and Billa, both were thin in their body structure moving about in Delhi in Cycles. Both were number one robbers and goondas though both physically looked like TB patients.

On one fine morning they both spotted Chopra children – a boy and a girl – both looked attractive, the boy was handsome like Bollywood hero and the girl his sister looked beautiful like a Hollywood heroine, both having fair complexion. The boy was well built and capable of handling physically one man easily. They were students whose father was a retired Navy officer residing in Delhi having only these two children as a son and as a daughter.

As I remember the events, when Ranga and Billa tried to molest Chopra girl, her brother intervened and challenged both the goondas physically but the goondas Ranga and Billa were professional goondas knowing how to beat and kill their opponents and precisely this is what they did to the young Chopra boy. Then they both took the girl to a lonely spot and raped her mercilessly and then killed her also mercilessly.

Immediately this news flashed everywhere and within a short time both Ranga and Billa were caught and arrested by the Delhi Police. Then the judicial process started and the Delhi Court sentenced both of them Ranga and Billa for Hanging. Within short period with all the legal formalities both were hanged and justice was not only seemed to be done but actually justice was done to the relief of those who demanded such a justice.

Now the eyes of entire nation is focussed on the Indian judiciary and the entire nation is expecting the Delhi Court will pass the sentence on all the 6 rapists of Delhi girl similar to the sentence passed earlier on Ranga and Billa. In fact the atrocities committed on the Delhi girl by all the 6 rapists are worst than that committed by Ranga and Billa and as such all the 6 rapist killers of Delhi girl according to a layman like me deserve worst type of punishment. And this punishment should be meted out to all the 6 rapist killers immediately. Only such punishment will meet the end of justice.

These 6 rapist killers of Delhi girl are not full-fledged human beings but they all are beasts and such beasts have no place in society. Their presence on this planet should come into extinction immediately.

INDIA - PAKISTAN CONFRONTATION.

“The child that is conceived just now in the womb of a Pakistani woman will come into this world with a hatred for India for destroying Pakistan by dismembering Pakistan of its Eastern Wing and for committing worst types of crimes against Muslims during the partition time”, told me one intelligent Pakistani. So much hatred average Pakistani is having towards India and also to some extent to Indians. This hatred has been increased tremendously after India liberated Bangladesh from Pakistani possession.

Pakistan will never give peace to India and India should never expect peaceful treatment from Pakistan either. Pakistan produced Atom Bomb only to teach a very good lesson to India as a retaliatory measure for the humiliating defeat India inflicted on Pakistan in all the three major wars India and Pakistan fought in the past.

The late Prime Minister of Pakistan Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was the force behind Pakistani Atom Bomb. He once said: “there is Christian Atom Bomb in the West, there is Jewish Atom Bomb with Israel and there is also a Hindu Atom Bomb with India but there is no Muslim Atom Bomb which we have to produce”. Hence, he gave a call to Pakistani Muslims saying “if necessary we will eat grass but definitely we must undergo any sacrifices to produce Islamic Atom Bomb in Pakistan”.

As per the average Pakistani mentality Pakistan must drop an Atom Bomb on India and destroy India and in the bargain be ready for the destruction of Pakistan also. According to the same mentality, “never mind destruction of Pakistan by India in a retaliatory measure but by all means Hindu India must be destroyed”. This is also as per the events going on at the borders between India and Pakistan.

On Tuesday 8th of this month at dawn two soldiers of India at Kashmir border were slaughtered by Pakistani border Soldiers. The cruelty of this barbaric act was such that the head of one Indian soldier was cut in an inhuman way, it was an act of beheading as per Indian reports.

Pakistan is an Islamic country professing Islam and as such Pakistani soldiers must practice Islamic way and discipline. Does Pakistani Islam tell to do such cruelties against enemy soldiers? Is not Islam very clear about the treatment of enemy soldiers?

While India is making a big noise over this issue by naming and shaming Pakistan, on the contrary Pakistan has flatly denied its involvement in this controversy. While India is accusing Pakistan and Pakistan is denying its involvement in killing and mutilating the bodies of two Indian soldiers, I have one question: How Indian Military personnel guarding our border at LOC allowed Pakistani intruders into Indian Territory? Were Indian Military personnel sleeping or were they drunk at the time of Pakistani intruders crossed into Indian side?

During the time of Mumbai terrorist attack by the Pakistani terrorists similar incident has also happened when Indian Coast Guard failed to detect the terrorists movement entering into Indian citadel. First India has to fortify its defence and not to keep its doors open for its enemies to enter.  India’s enemies are waiting to pass even “through the eye of a needle” and if India keeps its whole door open guarded by the drunkard or sleeping guards then the enemy of India will joyfully give the slogan of “Eureka – Eureka”.

Pakistan is too pigmy to challenge the might of India openly but clandestinely Pakistan will harass India and this harassment will gradually diminish because internally Pakistan is too much harassed by its own internal terrorists. Though Pakistan was formed to unite the Muslims from the Sub-Continent under one roof yet it failed to do the same and that it failed can be seen from the terrorism one Muslim faction unleash on other Muslim faction in Pakistan. India is not a threat to Pakistan and its territorial integrity but its own Muslim people fighting against one another and some fighting in the name of God is the real threat to Pakistan. I don’t know whether God allows mankind to fight and kill others.

The liquidation (if at all it happens and personally I don’t wish it) of Pakistan will be done not by India but only by their own terrorist groups. Hence, Pakistan should use all its resources to put its own house into order instead of diverting its attention on India.

WAS GOAN OPINION POLL RIGGED??

Let’s shed some light on Our Goan History....

Opinion Poll was rigged/farce: Shashikala.

The inability of the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party to stomach the defeat at the historic Opinion Poll of 16 January 1967, was evident with former Chief Minister of Goa Shashikala Kakodkar and daughter of Goa’s first chief minister Dayanand Bandodkar alleging that the poll was “rigged and a farce”, even 46 years after the event had sealed Goa’s separate identity.

Kakodkar was reacting to former MLA Radharao Gracias’ comments who stated that the Legislators’ Forum should honour the memory of Dr Jack de Sequeira, the father of the Opinion Poll and that the first chief minister of Goa, Dayanand Bandodkar was out to destroy Goa. Kakodkar alleged that people were brought from outside the State to vote and that people even as young as 15 had voted, inspite of the then prevailing opinion that it was in fact the MGP which had brought in deputationists and people from Maharashtra to vote for merger of Goa.

“The opinion poll was a farce, there was a lot of cheating. Luizinho (Faleiro) himself at a public function announced that he had voted in the poll despite being just 15 years of age and that he had voted twice. Others told him that he was not alone. Hearing this comment the faces of all those who had supported the opinion poll, fell,” Shashikala said. Initially Gracias stoked fire by saying that Bandodkar was out to destroy Goa and merge it with Maharashtra.“The great Dayanand Bandodkar, whatever his merits as Chief Minister may have been, was out to destroy Goa by merging with Maharashtra.

Today, if we’re here and celebrating 50 years of legislation, it is because of the leadership of Jack de Sequeira and that today we’re an independent territory and demanding special status. It is necessary that we make reference to Jack de Sequeira, because of whom the state of Goa is here and otherwise would have been a small district of Maharashtra. So let us not forget him,” Gracias said.

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar sought to down play the controversy saying that he takes positive things of the past. “I’m not going into the controversy. I see what is positive. We cannot afford to forget the contribution of Bandodkar. I heard that one of the reasons why the Opinion Poll was lost was because people said that they would lose Bandodkar as chief minister if Goa was part of Maharashtra. No point going into it... no need to get into controversy which will get us no profit, only loss,” Parrikar said.

JUVENILE CRIMINAL OF DELHI GANG RAPED GIRL.

According to the available information, the Sixth Rapist of the ganged Raped Delhi girl was of 17 years and among all the Six he was the worst person to brutalise and rape that girl. It is beyond my imagination to admit that this kid has done such a worst crime at this young age. This boy is from Uttar Pradesh born to desperate parents and from very early age he was neglected by his negligent and irresponsible parents residing in a small hut without proper roof. Being the eldest among 3 brothers and one sister his poor parents had no time to devote him, to guide him and to discipline him. Hence at an early age he left his home and as a street boy he came to Delhi to work as a labourer. ..........
