On 24th of
this month in Candolim at Church School Compound, I saw the Tiatro “ MOG ASSUM
DI” by renowned Tiatrist Rose Ferns, attended by a very good number of audience.
This Tiatro was organized by the Candolim Church to raise fund for the EXTENSION
WORK of the Church the Cemetry

The Tiatro started at
8.00 PM instead of 7.30 thereby failing to adhere to the timing which the
“Ghaumcho Pe. Vigar” otherwise from the
Altar stresses to follow but himself goofed.
During the interval Housie game was conducted, the profit going for the
same cause. The Gauncho Pe. Vigar must next time stop making nuisance of his
unwanted lecturing even during the Tiatro programme. He should know that people coming for Tiatro
are not interested in his lousy talk, this is ok in the Church where faithful
are submissive to his sermons even if they don’t like it. For Tiatro people pay
money only for specific purpose within limited time.

The story of the Tiatro
is based on the ingratitude of the children towards their parents during their
difficult days. It was a very living
example of what is happening in our society nowadays, especially in our
Catholic community where the Church leaders are not doing sufficient enough to
change the mindset of the present generation. The story of the play was filled
with very good proverbs and it was a pleasure to listen to these proverbs. Also the Cantos introduced in this play gave
an added booster to this Tiatro.
Rose Ferns and Roma as
husband and wife played their roles very well while Antonette de Maina and her
partner as her brother played their roles well.
As usual Tari contributed immensely to raise the level of the play by
doing his role extremely well. His presentation
was superb and delivery and clarity very good.
Rosario de Benaulim was dashing and pushing in his role as husband of
Antonette de Maina.
Roseferns & Roma
Comedy part was nicely handled by ace comedian Richard along with Agnelo. Richard has good scope on Konkani Stage, he is become the darling of the audience because he got all the qualities of perfect comedian. However, to become top he has to avoid filth and vulgarity in action and in words. The comedy scene where Obama was shown was not palatable. It looked and sounded below human decency and dignity.
In the Side Show songs,
Anthony Ciado’s solo was the best on London Goans so also of Rose Ferns
solo. The song rendered by Antonette de
Maina and Roma on female Tiatrists was excellent especially rendering of Roma
with her serene and mellifluent voice.
Well done Bab
Roseferns. In this Tiatro like a captain
in Cricket you played your captain’s inning well. Conngratulations to you, to your troupe and to
your musicians under the leadership of Teo Alvares.
