There is a saying in Konkani, “Kharveank nhoi Ghorvam ani
Rendrank nhoi Tarvam”. This is what it
is happening in India’s political administrative system while it is not in USA where every
portfolio is allocated by the President to the best person available in his
particular field. During the Gulf War
for the liberation of Kuwait, the defense portfolio was held by Dick Cheney who
was an expert in Arms and Ammunition that resulted in the appropriate usage of
appropriate weaponry for the victory in that war.
Krishnan Menon and Manhohar Parricar turned out to be the
biggest IDIOTS as Defense Ministers of India because under the former India
suffered the worst defeat from China and under the latter the most humiliating
attacks by the Pakistani terrorists. Raj Narain was responsible for bringing
disgrace on Health Ministry of India during the rule of Janata Party when he
held the Health portfolio inspite of being ignorant of this subject.
Now it is the same story in Goa of Visvajit Rane as Health
Minister. I don’t think he got any knowledge of health requirements and yet he
demanded this portfolio for him for its lucrativeness and not for the promotion
of Health care of the Goans.
During the last six months I was admitted to GMC Hospital
twice, first time for the operation of Cataract and now last week for the Chest
pain. During both the occasions I found
the Servants, the Nurses and the doctors are doing excellent job. But the worst thing there you will find is the
Toilet and Bathroom facilities. In Ward No. 142 where I was admitted both the
Toilets lacked the proper door facilities, both were dirty and stinking, dirty
water flowing on the ground, there was no Bathroom nor changing room, both the
toilets were common for both the genders.
The entire area around Toilets was nauseatic and unbearable for human
beings.
I was told by a reliable source that inspite of getting good treatment
free of charge, more Goans prefer to go to Private Hospitals by paying huge
amount undeservingly and leaving migrants and non Goans to use better medical
facilities of GMC. Goans dislike BMC more because of its filthy hygienic condition.
The Health Minister if he is a real civilized person then he
will investigate this matter and rectify the flaws existing at GMC. He is known to simply boast saying he has done this and that for the
improvement of Health service but in reality he has done nothing. Like his
father, he took false credit for himself for doing nothing. To supervise such a massive hospital like GMC
is not a joke especially for a man who got Zero knowledge of medical science. You require experts and knowledgeable persons
to run this hospital and not Babas and Babus.
