The US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) has placed India on its "Watch List" for New Delhi's largely inadequate response in protecting its religious minorities.
AMERICA'S MINORITY WATCH LIST

WE THE PEOPLE: US says India has done little to protect its religious minorities under siege.

The US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) has placed India on its "Watch List" for New Delhi's largely inadequate response in protecting its religious minorities.
In a statement, USCIRF said India earned the Watch List designation due to the "disturbing increase" in communal violence against religious minorities – specifically Christians in Orissa in 2008 and Muslims in Gujarat in 2002 - and the largely inadequate response from the Indian government to protect the rights of religious minorities.

"It is extremely disappointing that India, which has a multitude of religious communities, has done so little to protect and bring justice to its religious minorities under siege," said Leonard Leo, USCIRF chair.

USCIRF's India chapter was released this week to mark the first anniversary of the start of the anti-Christian violence in Orissa.

Any country that is designated on the USCIRF "Watch List" requires "close monitoring due to the nature and extent of violations of religious freedom engaged in or tolerated by the government."

Other countries currently on the Commission's Watch List are Afghanistan, Belarus, Cuba, Egypt, Indonesia, Laos, the Russian Federation, Somalia, Tajikistan, Turkey, and Venezuela.

WHERE IS KUWAIT'S GWS FUND GONE?

Sub: Where is Kuwait's GWS Fund gone?

Hello Mr. Alex Wilson Coelho,

Hope you are doing fine at GWS with God's Blessings.

Coming to your well wishes to GWS-Nairobi. What is the status of Goan Welfare Society, Kuwait headed by you ? Unity should begin at home. How many Goans in Kuwait are the members of GWS-Kuwait ? Only a handful. And if my information is correct, GWS-Kuwait has closed doors for new membership or at least in the past this was in practice ?

And you say "....AND ASSIST THOSE IN NEED IN THE RESPECTIVE COUNTRIES". How much assistance is provided in Kuwait to the needy (excluding GWS-Kuwait members) ? We have Goan Football clubs in Kuwait and these clubs and some individuals give helping hand to such cases directly or indirectly. Football fraternit-"lian and herr Goenkar bava boin-nantlian kiteim adhar meuta amche needy Goenkarank" in Kuwait. GWS-Kuwait got lot of money (approx. Rs. 1 crore per hear say, not sure) accumulated, that too at the cost of ALL Goans in Kuwait as these same Goans participated/contributed in one way or the other to the successful and PROFITED events organsied by GWS.

So the money which is with GWS belongs to ALL GOANS in Kuwait and who were in Kuwait. Please utilise this everbody's BLOOD money to some definit use/cause.

Any moves at your end ? Or you are hoarding the money to grow and one fine day WHO KNOWS who will be the final beneficiary ?

YOU REMEMBER, IN THE PAST I HAD CALLED FOR A NON-RESIDENT GOANS MEETING TO FORM 'NRGA'. YOU DID NOT TURN UP.

Mr. Wilson you are good at SWEET words and at the same time you vomit "vikh", like what you mentioned in your recent post wishing Rene barretto.

Good day.

B.M. Viegas

Eye witness to invasion of Kuwait was good article written by A. Veronica.

Dear Anthony Veronica,

I read your article on INVASION OF KUWAIT in two parts with beautiful and historical photos.
These photos are very precious to keep the memory of what Goans have actually done for the cause of Kuwait when it was seiged and invaded by Saddam Hussein's Iraq. I dont think any other community has done as much as our Goans have done for Kuwait. The major credit for this gigantic and herculian work should go to you, my friend. Your leadership proved how people are supporting you. Keep going.

I and many of my friends are eagerly waiting to read your book. I am sure it will be an excellent one since from this Chaper what you published we can gauge how informative the other chapters will be. Keep writing.

After that invasion you and other Goans made it to india and I remember that time I was in Goa. You worked very hard with other Kuwaiti Goans by having meeting and rallies to support Kuwait. At that time I felt so much for Kuwait Goans for their future and was hurt for the mockery made of them by many especially by those who enjoyed their benefits. To express my feelings I even composed one song '' KUWAITICHE GOENCAR'' and rendered it all over Goa, this particular song I will record in my next album "CALANGUTE'' Part 2.

Bravo Anthony Veronica very proud of you, you are keeping in touch with the past, present and the future of our society and you never forget the day of 2nd of Agust the ''INVASION OF KUWAIT'', the day you and others suffered in Kuwait.

I congraluate you and wish you good health and a bright future.
All the best.

Jerry Cal
