TIATRO “KUWAIT SODDUN VETANA”.

On 25th of this month, renowned Goan Tiatrist, Rosary Ferns is going to create a history when his most admired Konkani Drama “KUWAIT SODDUN VETANA” is going to be staged at American International School Auditorium, Maidan Hawally, starting at 4.30 pm. It is to be staged by the Mangalorean Konkani followers. The original script and original drama was staged in Goan Roman script Konkani on 16th January this year at Hawally A/C Hall with a packed Hall audience. It is now translated into Mangalorean Konkani and it is going to be staged under the direction of Lancy Rodrigues. This will be the first time in the history of Konkani a Goan Tiatro translated into Mangalorean Konkani and staged on Konkani Stage.

Rosary Ferns hailing from Colva, Salcette, Goa and being a long timer in Kuwait, wrote and directed 21 full fledged Konkani Tiatros, 12 of which were staged in Kuwait itself. Besides he wrote number of One Act Plays, Operettas, Mandos & Dulpods and countless songs. He is the first person in the history of Konkani world to produce first Konkani CD and that too from Kuwait. In all, he has produced 13 Konkani Albums in the form of Audio Cassettes & CD’s. As a matter of interest his 14th and new Album “DINARACHO VALOR” will be released shortly in this month in Kuwait and simultaneously all over the Konkani world. Additionally, he has produced 2 VCD – (1) Kanvllo Roddlo Lozen and (2) Mogan Tujea Lasota.

Rosary Ferns has also scripted and directed a mighty Konkani show in Kuwait known as “SONGIT SANZ” under Kuwait Konknni Kendr. Such a show was never held anywhere before. Its second part in continuation with the first part will be held very shortly in Kuwait, also under KKK.

In August 2005, for his enormous contribution in the promotion of “Konkani Songit Kala”, Rosary Ferns was honoured by the well known Mangalorean Association “Konkani Kulvar Kuwait”. Rosary Ferns has always strived thru Konkani Stage and cultural programmes to bring about fusion of all the Konkani people in Kuwait in general and Mangalorean and Goans in particular.

A few years back Bollywood celebrity Mahendra Kapoor when he came to Kuwait with his troupe to stage his show at Indian Embassy Auditorium, after meeting Rosary Ferns and knowing his credentials well, requested Rosary to translate one of his Konkani Tiatros into Hindi so that Mahendra Kapoor will stage it all around starting from Bombay.

The drama “KUWAIT SODDUN VETANA” in Mangalorean Konkani will be watched by a huge crowd as per the forecast and rightly it is a must watch for all the Konkani people residing in Kuwait, especially for those who missed it in January. The entire cast will be Mangalorean except one Goan BERNARDO FERNANDES who originally played an excellent role of a Kuwaiti and since there is no replacement found for him to play that role so excellently, the onus fell on Bernardo. It is also to be noted that two Mangalorean artistes will especially come to Kuwait from Mangalore and Doha Qatar, namely Mike Simon and Norbert Pereira respectively. The local Mangalorean artistes are melodious singer Gratian D’Souza, Cynthia Pinto, Valerian D’Souza, Jasson Lasrado, Joyline Gonsalves, Jovita Fernades, Anil Menezes, Renny Menezes, Anil Fernandes, Wilfred Lobo,Vally Sanctis, Ananda D’Souza, Joyston D’Souza, Joe D’Souza, Francis D’Souza, Lancy Rodrigues, Stephen Machado, Rudy D’Souza, Lucy Aranha, Sunny Menezes, Kiran Lobo, Agnel Saldanha, Ibrahim, Master Ansel Gonsalves, Master Aaron Gonsalves and Fr. Melwin D’Cunha.

Musical score will be provided by John Kiran Gonsalves and Joe D’Souza with the accompaniment of Salvador Rebello & troupe and Sunit Noronha & troupe.

The songs will be also accompanied by foot tapping dances, presented by one of the famous dance academies in Kuwait, JOVAS XLNC for Dance, choreographed by SUNIL and JYOTHI.

ON A. VERONICA'S ARTICLE ON DR. OLIVINHO GOMES

Dear Anthony Veronica,

First and foremost I pray to God that the late Dr Olivinho Gomes' soul may rest in peace in Heaven.

Dr Olivinho Gomes brought life for Konkani especially for Romi Konkani. He was the pride of Romi Konkani followers and Promoters. I read some of his writings. He has done good work for our Konkani literary movement and also for the cause of Romi Konkani. I salute him on behalf of Konkani lovers, especially Romi Konkani.

Veronica, I highly appreciated your article especially your points on Romi Konkani. We should remember because of our Romi Konkani our seven Konkani brothers died as martyrs and because of this cause Gulf Goans raised bulk of money for these martyrs fund, Kuwait Goans contributed more under your skippership. Tiatrists are making some noise from the Stage but no effect. They must carry a Morcha to Goa Legislative Assembly to make the elected members know our wishes. Will Tomazinho Cardoso give a lead to this point or as a guilty man for doing nothing when he was in the Assembly, will remain away? Because of such Tomazinhos Romi Konkani is not getting due recognition and as long as such people are there in Romi Konkani movement, no benefit will come for Romi Konkani. In Goa the movement makers for Romi Konkani are weak.

We only sing and talk, but never make an effort to face the ministers and solve the problems. I still remember the incident, when Mr J.R.D. TATA was coming to goa first time to see the Taj at Sinquerim, Anthony Veronica you stood along with your colleague on the road, demonstrated against anti-local policy of Taj Hotel in recruiting staff and made a written appeal to Tata. Becuase of this move by you, Tata made his management change its policy in support of locals.

Tomazinho Cardoso was nowhere in this campaign during those days. Will Romi Konkani attain any success with Tomazinho Cardoso at the helm of affairs? Will Romi Konkani gain any success in Goa with the feeble move of Tiatrists? Many of them are bribe prone and if Nagrivadis offer them any Lolipop, I am sure they will support Nagri Konkani against Romi just as our prominent Padris have done. Padris are known to preach their "Sermao" only to the ignorant people and not to their "Unios"

MORE ON GWS FUNDS HELD BY THE THIEVES.

Hi Veronica,
I just want to stress the point your forum has raised about the GWS funds. It is such a shame that despite vast coverage on the said issue has failed to achieve the desired results. The thieves at GWS, Kuwait are continuing to plunder the organisation which was founded by some clean people and initiated by the then renowned Kuwait Goan Mr. Vincente D'Souza.

Alex Wilson Coelho has been talking big but has been unable to do anything for the welfare of the community. People like him are being awarded by the NRI Commissioner for reasons best known to the latter. By awarding NRI award to him and the other two unknown entities whose contributions to the cause of community is nothing, NRI Commisioner has totally disgraced the image of these awards. This proves how shameless NRI Commisioner is.

Wilson's name has been soiled for more than one reason but the shameless fellow continues to brag about himself. He has a coterie of yes men surrounding him that gets him elected. They are equally shameless as he is and because they are shameless they got him elected knowing he was involved in sex scandal, robbing the fund of Kuwait Goan evacuees society etc. I think the Indian embassy in Kuwait should step in and demand answers from him in the interest of the community after all they are public funds which are being stashed in personal accounts.

Veronica I request you to launch a crusade against people like Wilson as through persistence you will be able todo it. Veronica you alone can do something otherwise the Curtorkar Chors will disappear from Kuwait one fine morning with the fund of GWS. In GWS there is nobody who can fight for justice. They are men in the petticoats of their wives. More power to you. Best Regards.
